Bobby keeps a Christmas card in his journal, he uses it to mark the page as he writes down the five things he’s grateful for each day. It started as a method of therapy when he was coming to terms with the death of his family and now it’s a habit he maintains to keep his head on straight amongst the wins and the losses.

As he sits on the roof of the firehouse, the sun setting in the distance, he can’t help but smile as he reflects on the past twenty four hours.

It’s his birthday today and you’d surprised him with a scented candle, an expensive one that he would never allow himself to splash out on, no matter how much he may love the smell. You’d seen him observing it when the two of you were shopping at the Farmer’s Market this weekend, he hadn’t realised you’d picked it up.

The Farmer’s Market is something you’ve been doing together since he first moved to LA. You’d become his tour guide in the early years, helping him find the best places to suit his needs. It was handy having someone like you working with him, someone kind enough to volunteer their free time to take him around, engage him in the community.

It's only after you made the move to a teaching position in the training academy that things began to change between the two of you. There’d always been an attraction but neither of you had acted on it, not until you were outside of his chain of command.

Up until this morning it had been a handful of dates squeezed in between his shifts, there’d been some teasing kisses, a little petting because Bobby he hadn’t been ready. Then you’d stopped by with that candle and he’d realised in that moment just how perfect you were for him, how thoughtful, how dedicated. He’d spent the next  couple of hours showing you his appreciation, with his mouth, his body. He thought he’d be a little rusty after all that time, but when it’s with the right person…

And you are certainly were the right person, he’d known that from the moment he’d found that Christmas card on his desk during his holiday season in LA.

Bobby, you’d written, we’re lucky to have you, let’s make some new memories together next year. Mel x

When you decided it was time for your parents and König to meet, you were tempted to slip a Xanax into his morning coffee. It is not like he hasn’t said a polite hello and a few words over the phone or when you facetime them, but now he was finally meeting them in person. You’ve seen him more calm talking to two- and three-star generals than this, the kinds of things that rattled your nerves.

You swore he changed attire more times than you did. The sight of him re-rolling his sleeves on his button up shirt made you intervene before he undid them all over again. He paused when your hands held his, then flicked his azure eyes up to you. “They’re gonna love you, my king.” Your gentle smile and comforting words got through to him.

They welcomed you and the mystery man with open arms at their front door. Mom never knew how to keep her thoughts to herself, but she really did mean well. Of course, the first thing they all notice is how König has to duck under their doorway to come inside. “You weren’t lying when you said he was tall,” mom said. You gave her a warning look followed up with an apologetic smile to König. He managed to chuckle it off, it was nothing new for him. It did make him curious about what else you’ve said to your mom about the two of you.

You gave König a tour of your childhood home, nearly having to pry him from the wall of photos of you and your family. He had the biggest shit-eating grin on his face of the little timeline displayed in pretty frames; your first elementary school photo, a photo of you in a boy/girl scouts uniform, another of you during extra-curricular activities (band/orchestra, JROTC, sports, theater, robotics team, etc.), a prom photo with you and old friends, and lastly your high school graduation picture. König wanted a copy of one of them to keep in his wallet, mom promised to get him one behind your back.

König's field day got better when you showed him your childhood bedroom. Depending on how you last had it decorated, you were either low key bashful or regretting even showing him. It was like traveling back in time for him, giving him a glimpse of the kid and teen, you used to be. A chance to fall in love with every facet of you.

He was getting more comfortable when he found out your dad wasn’t out to get him as much as he thought. They ended up sitting in the living room, talking about a topic after your dad played twenty questions to figure him out. Something either about guns, hunting, hiking, fishing, blue-collar work, and if your dad is a veteran, they got along faster than you could imagine. You and mom caught up in the kitchen as you helped her finish up with cooking and setting the table.

If you have siblings, they showed up in the nick of time before dinner, to share embarrassing stories of you when you were a kid, or the stories you all waited to tell when you all were adults to avoid from getting in trouble. König watched and listened as you got more animated with laughter. Loving every second of this. He had a handful of memories he could count on his hand that were of happier times, but your memories became his favorite ones.

Everyone pestered the two of you for the story of how you met. And since you’ve been doing most of the talking, you looked to König to tell the tale. Your eyes never left him as he started the story from his point of view, recollecting the moment he saw you and how he was trying to come up with an excuse to try and talk to you. It donned on you that this was the first time you were hearing the way he saw you. “And now we’re here,” he concluded, looking over to you with a grin and a touch to your hand underneath the table.

NSFW Bonus:

König couldn’t stop thinking about taking you in your childhood room, nearly fantasizing what it would’ve been like if the two of you met as teens/younger adults. Indulging in the idea of sneaking into your bedroom window or standing outside with a boombox in 80s/90s style fashion.

Of course, your parents offered you to stay with them, not wanting you to have to rent a hotel room or travel back (depending on how far away you lived from them), so the later the night got, the more distracted König became with fulfilling his dirty thoughts.

It was just like the old days, having you home and hearing the music coming from your speakers when someone passed by the doorway. You were just showing König your CD collection, right?

It definitely wasn’t because you were trying to muffle your moans and screams as he pounded you into that fucking mattress. Making you a drooling and brainless mess under his rutting hips. He kept praising you for taking him so well and for being so quiet like the good little fuck thing you were, making it harder not to cum so fast. Secretly, this was your fantasy too, and you wanted it to last a little longer than the 10 minutes of foreplay and fucking you had already endured.

ACOTAR Couples & Halloween Costumes: Headcanons 👻 🎃

Feysand: Feyre and Rhys definitely have a cute family costume planned with Nyx, but as soon as they leave him with a babysitter, they have to be the hottest couple in a 25-mile radius. Think Mr. & Mrs. Smith, think mafia AU, think Feyre in a slutty dress and Rhys unable to keep his hands off her

Nessian: Nesta and Cassian start planning their costumes at least a year in advance. No expense is spared, no detail is overlooked. Sure, they get into semi-heated arguments leading up to their favourite day of the year, but it’s well worth it. My vote goes to them being sexy pirates, or a gender bent Hades and Persephone.

Elucien: The thing about Elain Archeron is that she will always be that bitch, so well-dressed that people can’t help but stare. Lucien LOVES it! He’s also more than happy to take off his shirt at Elain’s request. A Greek god (or warrior) and goddess definitely works for their day court vibes (bonus points if Elain is Aphrodite).

Azris: Eris and Azriel famously refuse to put effort into Halloween. Azriel has been known to throw on cat ears. Eris has worn a mask or used fake blood on more than one occasion. Yet, somehow they end up surprising everyone by dressing up as a cop (Eris) and sexy criminal (Azriel). Yes, the handcuffs are fully functional. And, yes, Azriel wears a crop top.

Emorie: Our fave girlies have one goal on Halloween, and that’s to look ridiculously hot. Mor lives by the fact that “hoes don’t get cold” and usually makes a costume out of lingerie. Emerie’s been known to follow her lead or dress in something’s that more comfy. I think they would absolutely slay as an angel and demon.

Bonus addition: Emerie as a witch (and Mor can tag along as a black cat)

Gwynriel: These two always go with a costume that’s ridiculously niche or nerdy. Sometimes, Gwyn will get Azriel to dress up as her favourite male characters. Sometimes, she’ll wear a gorgeous costume on her own (and Azriel will just be there, looking at her with hearts in his eyes). Batman and catwoman is a fan favourite, but Gwyn loves the year she found her new favourite book and got them to dress up as a priestess and shadowsinger.

Elriel: Elain is hot (see above), and Azriel is more than happy to take a supporting role when it comes to couples costumes. Elain wants to wear a fancy dress? Azriel will offer to hold her purse. It’s an Elain Archeron world and Azriel is loving every second of just being in it. I feel like a flower and gardener costume would be cute couples costume for them.

Jassa: Jurian and Vassa are here to have fun. All of their costumes are easy-going and definitely bought last-minute, but they still look amazing. They’re known to find things around the house, and wear a costume that they insist is a pun. Some years, they remember they have these race car outfits at the back of their closet.

Gwynlain: Gwyn and Elain are for the Pinterest girlies. They always have the most gorgeous costumes, and their makeup is impeccably done. Dare I say, they’re the second hottest couple in a 25-mile radius. My brain is literally malfunctioning at the thought of them dressing up like Bloom and Flora from Winx Club.

Captured and contained

Little info dump on the whole diamond prison thing with regards to my Feral JD AU

So basically what happened when Velvet and Veneer first captured JD in my au is Veneer is always looking for more animals for his little side zoo project. They happened to be doing a photo shoot outside in the woods for a new album cover. Veneer went on a walk to have some alone time and stumbled across a little goblin boy. Aka JD.

"Oooo aren't you a cute little fella, You would be perfect as desk decoration!"

*JD gets snatched*

Later when Veneer tells Velvet he got a new pet and reveals JD. Her initial reaction is "Okay, but where did you even get that thing it's disgusting." JD proceeds to bite Veneer (multiple times) and wriggle himself free from his hands. He then runs rampant through their dressing room until they manage to contain him in a crystal bottle. The only thing they thought was strong enough to hold him. Later down the line when Velvet captures Floyd (basically the same sequence of events as the movie from here) and starts using him for his talent. That's when they realize that JD is actually a troll as well. JD being JD though is as Velvet described "uncooperative" and "savage" so she refuses to use him for his talent and instead tells Veneer "That one can be yours. You're that one that found that thing anyway." So Veneer does end up using JD for his talent just not nearly as often as Velvet does Floyd. JD does still get hit pretty hard by the whole draining thing considering he is grey and unlike the average troll has in a sense "forgotten/lost" his talent. That doesn't stop him from unleashing hell on the twin every chance he gets. Goblin man will do goblin things

Then things follow the movie pretty much the same except Bruce and Clay end up getting captured when they all break into the dressing room to rescue Floyd. Poppy and Branch end up escaping into the rafters. Velvet ends up sticking Clay and Floyd in her shoulder pads and Veneer gets Bruce. Veneer leaves JD behind in his dressing room because he feels guilty and doesn't want to hurt him any more than he has to.

Fast forward to the family harmony scene where although they are technically down a brother and Floyd is still trapped in Velvet's clutches the 3 brothers and pop sisters sing on anyway. The family harmony DOES end up working to free Floyd and also JD. I'm playing this off on the idea that despite JD not being present physically he could feel the connection to his brothers and their desperation to help Floyd. JD wants the same thing, to free Floyd and that is what connects them all together. It's like Branch said "We don't have to be perfect to be in harmony, We just have to be as we are." (just go with it ok IDK) Once the diamonds are shattered JD is pretty worst for wear, unlike Floyd he doesn't have anyone to support him right off the bat. He is used to being on his own at this point tho and only cares about getting Floyd out. He tucks himself away into a corner of the room behind some furniture to hide and rest up till he can get the both of them out of this hell hole.

Mind you only Floyd knows that he's also being held captive somewhere backstage when all this is happening. So once Floyd regains consciousness and has a chance to take a moment with his brothers. he then immediately goes into full anxiety mode well explaining that they have to get to JD. The others confused about what he's talking about don't believe him at first, but do end up helping Floyd backstage since he keeps insisting that JD needs them. They do end up finding JD and that's where the real story begins.

okay my fellow Cdrama fanatics, I’m in need of some recs as someone who is still fairly new to the scene…

Historical Cdramas I’ve enjoyed

Story of Minglan ~ this show is my Roman Empire…like I don’t go more than a couple of days without thinking about it. Love how much depth there was to the characters and their relationships. I got so much satisfaction from watching Minglan run circles around every one else using her intelligence and wits. Every time Gu Tingye popped up in the background as her backup support I lost it! Talk about power couple.

Love Like the Galaxy ~ first historical Cdrama I have watched and apart from Minglan, I think it has ruined the rest for me. This drama has so many layers. Niao Niao is an intelligent, and opportunistic female lead. She is unabashedly herself, and the story is not afraid to depict her as unlikeable at first instance. I deeply appreciated the focus on female relationships and family. And Ling Buyi has ruined all other antiheroes for me lmao

Destined ~ I thought this one would be on par with Minglan at first, but it did lose its way in the latter half. I felt the female lead was relegated to the background, which was frustrating as they built her up to be this shrewd businesswoman and then we never get to see her in action. I did appreciate how wholesome and untoxic Jiu Si was as a romantic lead. I thought her relationship with the SML could have been drawn out more, however.

Romance of Tiger and Rose ~ I don’t think this drama is anywhere on par with the above three, but I still enjoyed it. Definitely a fun and unserious romp. Zhou Lu Si is just so likeable in all her roles.

Xianxia I’ve enjoyed:

Love and Redemption ~ I literally fell down a hole with this drama. I could not stop watching. Even though the female leads starts with that token immaturity Cdramas are known for, it’s explained in-world and she goes through a noticeable growth/stepping into adulthood arc. I also LOVED how powerful she was and how often she got to use her powers. Also the romance? Sifeng?!!? Yeah I was a mess. However, one thing that irritated me was the lack of agency Xuan Ji had toward the end of the show.

Eternal Love ~ it’s a classic for a reason. I loved Bai Qian’s resolve, steadfastness, and maturity. Her relationship with Ye Hau blossomed naturally, and they had different obstacles to face as a couple as opposed to what I have seen so far.

Love Between Fairy and Devil ~ speaks for itself, and I love enemies to lovers.

Extra: points if the female lead is powerful, or is on a journey to realising her power. Whether that’s through her intelligence, empathy, or in the case of xianxia, actual mystical power. Bonus points if she’s a character like Xuan Ji who can go supernova and destroy everyone lol

Historical dramas I have not enjoyed:

The Sword and the Brocade ~ I didn’t even finish this one. My overall impression was, having already finished Minglan prior, eating cardboard after having been to a 5 star Michelin restaurant. Everything was so bland and dull, even down to the cinematography.

Princess Silver ~ I dragged myself to the finish line with this one. The plot just became so utterly ludicrous and relied on the audience being invested in the main leads without actually letting them spend screen time together. I also hated that we had glimpses of the female leads power but that she never got to fully realise this. Just overly contrived and trite.

Xianxia I did not enjoy

Ashes of Love ~ this was the first xianxia I ever watched some years back. Given I was new to the genre, I think I found some of the characteristic features a bit jarring and I stopped watching Cdramas as a result. If I watched it again I may be able to make it through. Ultimately, I just could not stomach how naive the main female character. I understand this is typical, but it was another level of nauseating that I have not found an equal to since.

It’s been a long while since I have read the avatar comics, so I’m wondering why you don’t like Ursa? I’m very likely not as informed to form a fuller opinion of her so what’s your opinion?

Ohhhh god the Ursa thing...

They revealed that Ursa's disappearance wasn't caused by her being dead or held hostage or lying low and waiting for the right opportunity to reveal itself. Oh no. It's revealed that she selfishly decided to give herself amnesia and live out the rest of her days with a new husband and child while leaving her two kids with Ozai where they would no doubt be warped and abused for the rest of their lives. The Search expanded on her past and showed us point blank that Ozai was an abusive and toxic husband and father. So Ursa choosing to never go back for her kids or have any intention of even REMEMBERING them is really, really vile. Sure, she's in exile. But her choosing to sacrifice her memories of them solidifies that she never intended returning to them, much less think about them.

On one hand, I would be totally fine with Ursa starting a new life with a new family, albeit while still dwelling on the children she left behind. It would be really interesting and bittersweet, especially if she was biding her time waiting for the day when Zuko became Firelord and she could return home at last. But the fact that she had no intention of ever seeing or remembering Zuko and Azula again while KNOWING the kind of person Ozai was is pretty irredeemable. Zuko and especially Azula have huge hang-ups about their mom and Ursa legit not giving enough of a shit to ever come back unintentionally makes Azula look CORRECT when she says that her mother never cared. And worse still, the comic seems to brush Ursa's actions under the rug like it's nothing. Zuko immediately forgives her and--bonus--gets a shiny perfect supportive new baby sister to replace the problematic OTHER one. Azula is no angel by ANY means, but The Search is basically an excuse to torture her psychologically for three issues with no catharsis, with Ursa subsequently not bothering to look for her daughter in the comics to follow, even after regaining her memories.

Azula's big insecurity that drives her nasty behavior is centered on the internal fear that her mother saw her as a monster and never really loved her. Turns out, she was probably right. Or at least, her mom didn't love her enough to fight for her, allowing Ozai to corrupt and twist her. Ursa wasn't coming back to prove to Azula that she always loved her and wanted the best for her. In the flashbacks, she's only ever shown ignoring or scolding the child Azula, basically giving the reader no indication that she actually cares about her daughter. At least not anything that's especially solid. That's not even digging into stuff Zuko went through after she left. You'd think Ursa would take one look at Zuko's scar and apologize for not being there to protect him. But no. No mention at all. Sure, she left in order to save Zuko's life. But there was still never intention of rescuing her kids, no intention of ever wasting another thought on them now that she's found what she's looking for. They were an afterthought. The comic is all about her reclaiming autonomy with a new husband and family as a fuck you to Ozai, but it ignores the really messed up fact that Zuko and Azula NEEDED their mother more than she seemed to need them.

The Avatar Comics have honestly ruined Ursa beyond repair imo. There was a better way of writing this and they choked it. She is truly detestable and the fact that the comic never actually calls her out on it just makes it worse. Characters like Lucrecia are characterized as intentionally flawed and were FORCED away from their kids, with whom they had no prior relationship. But the difference between Ursa and Lucrecia is that while Ursa completely abandons all thought towards her kids in pursuit of a selfish happiness, Lucrecia does nothing BUT wallow in self-loathing and blame. Lucrecia was suicidal after losing her son, and sought to punish herself for eternity for it. Ursa fucked off and willingly chose to forget her responsibilities as a mother, all while her children suffered.

It really fires me up. Azula and Zuko deserved better. The READERS deserved better. This was a long-running mystery in the ATLA community and the answers we got were really disheartening and kind of fucked up. And without the narrative nuance to explore the grayness or negativity behind such actions. It's really just a shame.

After several seconds of silence, Buck continues. “It’s just… you sacrifice everything for our family and I—I know my career is in… flux, disarray or hell, honestly at this point I don’t even know what to call it but you’re supporting me through it. At one time I thought firefighting would be all I’d ever have because I never thought about any other options. But uh… the job with The Food Network came out of nowhere and it’s a real opportunity for us. If I take it, I’ll get to set my schedule the way I want it and um… I’ll only have to film episodes 12 weeks out of the year and the best part is…” He trails off and kisses his husband’s lips. After he lays his head back on top of the pillow, he admits, “I can still be a firefighter if I want.”

“That’s true but amore mio, you don’t have to thank me. We’re in this together and there’s no place else I’d rather be.”

“But Ed—die, if we move to New York…”

He leans down and kisses his lips to interrupt him and after he pulls back, he admits, “We talked about this, you and Chris are my dream and everything we do and each decision we make… it’s for our family. I can be a Critical Care Paramedic in Los Angeles, New York City or San Gimignano, Italy. My career dream of becoming a paramedic already came true and you were there with me every step of the way. Chapter Summaries

Chapter 1 - Eddie makes a new friend while Buck receives devastating news regarding the sperm donation he made for Connor and Kameron.

Chapter 2 - Buck does a lot of research to learn more about the abnormalities found in his red blood cells and Eddie starts a new therapy journey that’s all about him and not the traumas he’s experienced.

Chapter 3 - After more than a month, Buck and Eddie finally spend time together outside of work but it doesn’t end well and they part with a lot of uncertainty regarding their places in each other’s lives.

Chapter 4 - Eddie has a few realizations about his life which causes him to consider moving back to El Paso, TX while Buck continues to be reminded of his past which causes him to take an impromptu road trip across America.

Chapter 5 - Both Buck and Eddie have difficult conversations with their parents and Buck finally learns the truth behind the reason why his mother despised him while Eddie finally tells his mother about the way she tries to control him.

Chapter 6 - More than two weeks after Buck pushed Eddie away after suggesting they needed a break; Eddie decides to try again. Eddie’s there for Buck when he’s at his worst just like Buck was there for him when he was at his worst and he won’t let Buck give up.

Chapter 7 - After Buck’s mental breakdown, Eddie has his back the same way Buck had his when he had his own breakdown more than a year ago.  They share several vulnerable and emotionally intimate moments with one another and they begin to realize their small, sweet and caring gestures matter just as much if not more than any grand gesture ever could because these are the foundations of a long-lasting love relationship.

Chapter 8 - Buck, Eddie and Chris all have their own therapists and during their sessions, they reflect on their pasts while they’re in the present so they can prepare for their future together as a family.

Chapter 9 - Buck and Eddie are there for each other when Buck has to testify as a witness during the trial.  But by the end of it, they’ll both realize their individual and shared traumas are going to keep resurfacing until they talk about them, deal with the fact that they’re in love with one another and face the fact that they can’t live without each other.

Chapter 10 - As Buck and Eddie finally begin to confront their past traumas, they realize how much they need each other to fill in the gaps of their memories.  Additionally, the universe screams at them for what appears to be the one hundredth time so Buck can realize he doesn’t have to ‘find it’ because he already ‘made it’ and Eddie’s reminded tomorrow isn’t promised and he doesn’t have to die alone if he doesn’t want to.

Chapter 11 - A “virga” or dry thunderstorm is in the forecast but once the rain starts, the thunderstorm happening outside won’t be able to match the storm brewing inside between Buck and Eddie.  It’s the universe’s final scream and when the tumultuous winds begin to blow, they’ll have one last chance to hold onto everything they’ve built over the last six years or they’ll lose it all forever.

Chapter 12 - Buck and Eddie have always shared a deep physical attraction and an emotional intimacy that’s unmatched but now that they’re in a relationship, they’re learning how to navigate the romantic intimacy they’ve been waiting for six years to explore. The love they have for each other is a once in a lifetime, soulmate, love of their lives type of love that transcends space and time.

Chapter 13 - While navigating the newness of their romantic relationship, Buck and Eddie take advantage of every moment they spend together. As their individual lives, people from their pasts, time constraints and the possibility of losing each other again make attempts to interrupt and interfere with their journey to forever, they love, care for, support and hold onto each other even tighter to withstand it all.

Chapter 14 - Buck and Eddie can see the lights at the end of the tunnels regarding the results of Buck’s Cancer Screening along with everything else they’re dealing with. But are the lights they see exits to the tunnels or are they headlights on different runaway trains that are speeding towards them in an effort to interrupt their forever?

Chapter 15 - Buck and Eddie have known they were exactly who the other one wanted in a partner since they met six years ago when they agreed to have each other’s backs. They’re in a romantic relationship, they’re both preparing to ask the other one to spend forever with them and by the end of the seventh week into their relationship, together they will plan their most important and greatest adventure for their future.

Chapter 16 - As Buck and Eddie begin to prepare for their marriage ceremony that will take place in Rome, Italy in December 2023, they start planning their first international adventure as a romantic couple. Even though Chris is still the only person they’ve told about their relationship, several people who know them have already witnessed the love they share and as the days continue, others will witness it too.

Chapter 17 - As Buck and Eddie get closer to departing Los Angeles for their international adventure, a moment in time will remind them; life is fragile, tomorrow isn’t promised and every second of everyday should be cherished because everything can change in an instant. The result of that realization will cause them to hold onto each other even more.

Chapter 18 - As Buck, Eddie and Chris prepare for family gatherings before and during the Thanksgiving holiday, the “Santa Ana Winds” start to blow and all sorts of expected and unexpected familial drama ensues.

Chapter 19 - As Buck and Eddie get closer to their wedding day, the universe begins to align everything so that some of their parent and children's relationships are strengthened while others come to an abrupt end.

Chapter 20 - With only 14 days remaining until Buck, Eddie and Chris depart Los Angeles, CA traveling to Rome, Italy, for their first family adventure, an early morning conversation about “tying up loose ends” helps Buck and Eddie realize there are still several things left unfinished on their ‘To Do’ lists. The question is will there be enough time to complete all of them?

Chapter 21 - Buck, Eddie and Chris are finalizing their ‘To Do’ Lists, double checking their itineraries and packing their suitcases in preparation for their trip to Europe so they can board their flight that departs Los Angeles, CA on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 3:25PM.

Chapter 22 - While Buck, Eddie and Chris spend the first 8 days of their European family adventure in Italy, their primary reason for going will be fulfilled as well as several others they hadn’t considered or anticipated.

Chapter 23 - As the Diaz Family continues their Italian family adventure, they’ll say, “Ciao” or hello and goodbye to a lot of things almost immediately after they become an official and legal family.

Chapter 24 - After Buck, Eddie and Chris arrive in London, England on December 24th; the Diazes immediately start preparing to spend their first family Christmas together. During their stay, each of them will hear a few choice words that will be the life raft to get them home to complete their searches to be seen and to be found.

Chapter 25 - After spending more than two weeks in Europe, Eddie, Buck and Chris are back in Los Angeles and they’re getting ready to attend Maddie and Chimney’s New Year’s Eve party. During the event, they have plans to make two surprise announcements but the question is, who’s really going to be surprised, the Diaz family or their found family at the 118?

Chapter 26 - Buck and Eddie are once again faced with their greatest fear of losing each other but this time it could be permanent and if it is, then they won’t be able to spend the rest of their lives together.

Chapter 27 - After Buck resumes therapy, he’ll continue to face the fact that he “DIED” in March 2023 and during those sessions, he’ll learn about the 7 stages of grief. As he continues his healing journey, Eddie will be right by his side just like he promised and the Diaz family will start to deal with their three minutes and seventeen seconds loss as a family.

Chapter 28 - Two years ago, Eddie was asked, “What are you afraid of?”; twice, once by Frank and once by Buck but he only answered one of them without deflecting. Since that time, he’s been to therapy and him and Buck got married but the question resurfaces when Frank asks Buck the same question and Buck asks it of Eddie for the second time. However, when Buck asks, his reasoning will be about something else entirely.

Chapter 29 - After Buck and Eddie have an emotionally intimate conversation regarding their dreams, they make several decisions that will affect their future. When everything falls into place, they’ll realize one of those decisions will result in them no longer being work partners.

Chapter 30 - In 2018, Buck and Eddie met at the 118 and after some initial apprehensions on Buck’s part, they became work partners and they agreed to have each other’s backs. It’s been more than 6 ½ years, a lot’s happened, they got married in December 2023 and they have the family they both chose. With Eddie leaving the 118 in 3 months and Buck getting closer to moving past his grief, what will him losing his work partner mean for him?

Chapter 31 - As Buck’s life hangs in the balance from what’s suspected to be another bradycardia event, Eddie’s by his bedside, their son is being cared for by relatives and their found family is in the waiting room. During this time, many questions will surface that could possibly lead to the truth but will everything be revealed before it’s too late?

Chapter 32 - On January 2, 2024, the figurative skies over the Diaz family became gray and filled with storm clouds. Buck’s recent trauma, Chris’ school project and Eddie’s paramedic studies combined with the attack on Buck’s life, all those things contributed to the grief they’ve been experiencing. However, as the middle of February approaches, will the dark clouds dissipate so blue skies can return?

Chapter 33 -Now that “New Beginnings” are on the horizon for the Diazes regarding their future as dual residents of the United States of America and Italy, Buck and Eddie review their career qualifications and they consider educational options for Chris.

Chapter 34 - Buck and Eddie are equals in their marriage, they wholeheartedly support one another and they agreed to discuss the big decisions that affect their family. Recent events have them facing a difficult one that will affect their dreams and Buck’s career, Eddie’s job location and plans for Chris’ educational future from both domestic and international perspectives are all included. While they’re visiting El Paso, TX, they’ll discuss the pros and cons of each option.

yan! ayato as a modern day ceo with an investigator darling. there is corruption in the inazuman tri commission and it's your goal to bring light to their unsavory business methods. this fits well with a person who has been wronged by the yashiro commission ; perhaps someone was in the wrong place at the wrong time. ayato originally sees no reason to get involved as the shuumatsuban can clean up loose ends, yet he might have to take you more seriously when you apply to be his secretary. you have no evidence against ayato and he's found it quite amusing to dangle evidence just to destroy it completely. he's not sure why he's still keeping you around but your admiration is amusing and the despair that paints your face with every dead end is too delicious to ignore. don't even think of resigning, have you forgotten the agreement you signed before starting?

he didn't need to spell it out. with his wealth and influence escape would be nigh impossible.

ayato just offers you a smile. in all your time working alongside him, you'd seen countless of his rehearsed smiles. chills shot down your spine, you'd never seen such a genuine expression on his face.

I'm not even a Gwynriel but how can you read the line "You're the new ribbon, Az" and not immediately realize something is brewing? I wasn't here for the TOG ship wars. I read the series and in Heir of Fire I was almost certain Rowaelin was endgame. I was salty about it, but I knew it would be endgame because I'd already recognized how SJM writes her stories by that point. Imagine my surprise when I found out there had been an insane debate about it before Rowaelin became endgame. I'm not even salty about it anymore; imo Yrene is a way better fit for Chaol and honestly the cadre is 🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️(especially their former commander 🥵). Imo, the Aelin/Chaol/Rowan dynamic is similar to the Elain/Azriel/Lucien dynamic. Every Ewriel "moment" has been nullified by something else happening in the text. But by the end of ACOSF, several things are still true: 1. Rhysand stopped Azriel from kissing Elain. Azriel then rejected her and Elain returned the necklace. Azriel went to the library with the intention that Gwyn receive it, even if he didn't hand it to her directly. 2. Lucien and Elain are still mates. You can argue all you want that it's a spell, but SJM uses the same mating language to describe their bond as she does with any true mating pair. Besides, do you really think SJM is going to make Lucien spend decades convinced his first love was his mate only to hand him a fake mate? Pls be fr. The only fake mating bond SJM created was with Rowan and Lyria because of the dark powers of Maeve, but Lyria was Rowan's FIRST love, fake mating bond or no. Lyria is somewhat like the Jesminda in this situation, not Elain. 3. Azriel ended the bonus chapter thinking of Gwyn. No he didn't express sexual thoughts yet, I'd be disturbed if he had. But he was at ease with her in a way he wasn't with anyone else, his shadows danced with her as opposed to the skittering it does with Elain and Mor. Secret, lovely beauty. 4. Elain is bothered by the cruelty of the Hewn City. She also was "ridiculous" in black, which is CLEAR foreshadowing. The Spring Court was described as being "made for someone like her." You're always talking about foreshadowing and shit but then ignore the foreshadowing that Elain will be leaving the Night Court. 5. Feyre WANTED Elain to get to know Lucien. She may have doubted the Cauldron's decision initially, but the fact that she was supporting Lucien and encouraging Elain to interact with him shows that at the very least she's CONSIDERING the possibility that the Cauldron IS right. To be honest, I don't give a shit who Azriel ends up with. I'm here for Lucien's story. But I read that bonus chapter and I instantly knew Gwynriel was endgame. Gwyn is not going to be used as an obstacle between Azriel and Elain; she's part of Nesta's chosen family and has been through enough, she deserves better than being the girl in the middle. And SJM doesn't even write love triangles, which is honestly a relief, because love triangles are so cringey. I don't think Elain and Azriel are going to get "closure," because honestly they barely had a relationship to begin with. They didn't even kiss.

Companion piece to Little Changes - Stuart notices when you start to make little changes.

You aren’t in bed when Stuart wakes up, your side is vacant, the sheets cold. He sighs because this is the third night in a row he’s woken up alone and he’s concerned it’s going to become a habit.

He finds you in the living room, curled up under the couch blanket, a cup of tea clasped to your chest as the TV plays in the background.

“You wanna talk about it?” He asks you as he sits down on the couch alongside of you.

“What’s the point?” You ask him, your gaze fixed on the TV as your palm rubs over the nape of your neck. “It doesn’t change anything.”

You’ve been like this since the appointment with the fertility doctor, since you found out you’re the reason that the two of you can’t have kids. You’d been trying for over a year before you decided to see a specialist. You thought she’d tell you it was just stress, that you needed to cut down on your hours, relax a little more instead the news was worse.

You were in menopause, early onset.

Apparently there’s a history of it in your family. You’d had no idea because you don’t speak to your mother and your father hates discussing ‘women’s things’.

You’ve become withdrawn since then, burying yourself into your work, staying out late. A couple of times he’d found you at the bar alone, drinking whiskey and studying your phone. He knows you’ve been looking up ways to reverse it, researching, he also knows you’ve come up dry. There’s nothing you can do and that’s the part that’s got you twisted up in knots, you’re used to fighting your problems and this is something you can’t.

“Sasha…” He says softly, his hands cradling your face between his hands. “This is not your fault.”

He can tell you don’t believe it, he can see it in your eyes. He wishes there was something he could do to take away the pain but the agony you’re feeling, he feels it too. The difference is he’s pragmatic, he knows there’s other options, he’s open to them but right now you’re not. The anguish, it’s too raw, too recent.

“I don’t want to talk about it anymore.” You say quietly as you climb into his lap and begin to undress. “I just want to forget.”

You fuck him hard, the light from the sunrise cascading over his bare skin as you kiss him like it’s the last time, because for you it is the last time. This is your gift to him, your final goodbye because tomorrow you’re leaving him.

You’re going to set him free so he can have the family that he wants, the one that you can’t give him.

Bypassing Lorna's Comics Kobayashi Maru

I'm having some unexpected clarity. Some of that clarity is from being slightly drunk. Ironically, sometimes impairment brings clarity.

In the past month or so, it's become more apparent that Lorna is going to appear on X-Factor for the billionth time. This time, there are actually some elements shown for her that are good... if they weren't on X-Factor, and weren't used in service of promoting Havok.

This is the text solicit for X-Factor 2.

POLARIS VS. X-FACTOR! • There’s a new mutant rebellion, and Polaris is at the forefront of it all! • But how do they know so much about X-Factor’s classified missions? • Havok must seek out a traitor on the team…but how can he if it’s him?!

For those of you not aware, this iteration of X-Factor is a team co-led by Angel and Havok, two straight cis blonde white dudes. It's also attempt number 47942748921741212321 to make Havok happen by making him a leader of teams. Which I don't really mind.

When there isn't an element of screwing Lorna over involved.

Or when Lorna isn't being given no chance to shine while Havok gets a billion of them just cause straight cis white male editors fantasize about being him with their nostalgia.

Here's what I deduced out of this scenario. My analysis of the intent.

Tom Brevoort wants this book to sail. He wants an excuse for Havok to get top billing. It's why he wanted Havok over on Uncanny Avengers when he was overseeing that book. He also knows Lorna has real star power, but doesn't respect the character.

So what does he do?

Put Lorna on this book. He knows the Havolaris shit is something people don't want, but he also knows Havok is fucked if he doesn't force Havolaris shit. He knows Havok has no chance on his own merits, or else he would pursue those merits without dragging Lorna into it.

What that means is, he puts Lorna on the book with the initial setup that Lorna fans want, but it's all in service to promoting Havok, not Lorna.

This is supposed to be a Kobayashi Maru for Lorna fans. It's supposed to be a "fucked either way" situation. If the book succeeds with this Lorna storyline, it's spun as an excuse to support Havok more, and an excuse to force more Havolaris. If the book fails, it's used an excuse to claim Lorna being more forceful and leading a rebellion isn't the direction for Lorna that readers want, or that fans don't actually want more of Lorna.

All things told, I think we've reached the point where editors at Marvel actually give a shit about what fandom has to say about Lorna. They just haven't crossed the crucible over to themselves giving a shit about Lorna herself, only how she can be exploited for what they give a shit about.

I've had this on my mind for weeks. And after most of that time, I think I found the way out.

The Way Out

This is how we win the Kobayashi Maru scenario concocted by Brevoort.

Let's get a few details out of the way for those of you not in the know. Some of which is me getting myself in the know as I type this.

This is the cover for Scarlet Witch 4, with the following solicit.

CHAOS UNLEASHED! At the end of all things, the Scarlet Witch chose a new beginning. But as the battle for Lotkill’s future rages on, the price of such freedom may prove more monstrous than Wanda bargained for…

Steve Orlando is the writer, and he's open to Lorna. He wrote an issue last year of Lorna and Wanda working together, each having a specialty that complements the other - Wanda magic, Lorna science.

I'm not suggesting this because Wanda is doing gangbusters. That's just a nice bonus. I'm suggesting this because Orlando has shown respect for what Lorna offers when he's used her, and an eagerness to explore the Magnus family dynamics even if the twins aren't considered part of it right now.

On the Orlando side, the biggest plus in this column for me is the fact that at a later date, he addressed the elephant in the room of Lorna and Wanda not talking about Magneto's death with each other. It was a BIG criticism how Marvel as a whole gave zero insight into Lorna's reaction to his death, and Lorna and Wanda not talking about it last year was a big miss.

Orlando addressed it in-universe, on panel as Wanda thinking Lorna would bring it up but they never ended up talking about it. To me, that was Orlando both saying he expected the X-Men side to address it, and showing that he sympathizes with Lorna fans and agrees something should have been done there.

Or to put it another way: Orlando cares about Lorna. He respects the character and what she has to offer. Not just for Wanda. Not just for his current work. In general, as a character in her own right. What we've seen so far, Orlando wants to do right by the characters he writes.

That's the writer Lorna needs. Someone who cares regardless of if they're a fan of her or not.

BUT WAIT. That's not all there is to this. Let me introduce you to the other half of this equation.

Russell Dauterman.

See, what I'm getting at here is more and deeper than you might think. Take a look at this article. This quote in particular is essential for what I'm getting at.

“I love that there’s nothing stereotypically witchy about the crown, but it still gives a witch vibe. I tried to move that mystical feeling forward with the starry effect on Wanda’s skirt and hair — nodding to her son Wiccan’s Jamie McKelvie-designed costume and her sister Polaris’ look in the ‘Dark Seduction’ era — a visual signifier that this is a magical character.”

Dauterman is doing the covers for the Scarlet Witch solo book, and in general providing a shit ton of visual inspiration and concepts that help it succeed. As an artist, he a) sees Lorna as Wanda's sister, and b) saw an element of Lorna's design in past comics (most notably a comic from when she was on Genosha) as inspiration for things he could do with Wanda.

And then we have the concept art above. Dauterman has notes demonstrating real, deep thought that he put into the Hellfire Gala design he put forward. It wasn't rando design time for him. He considered who Lorna is, what her powers do, what history she's had, and poured all of that into the design he came up with.

Which resulted in a design far, far better than the one made for her with the first Hellfire Gala. Not that the first Hellfire Gala dress was "bad" in and of itself, but it was the sort of thing that a) didn't have any clear character elements to it, and b) didn't rise to the occasion of the gala. Would've been fine if it was a random dress at a random event. Not so much the first mutant gala.

My point is this. Scarlet Witch has a winning team in Orlando and Dauterman. Not because they're writing Scarlet Witch and she's riding high in pop culture right now. It's because both of them actually care about the work they're doing with all the characters they work on. And when it comes to Lorna specifically, they both like and respect her.

So What's The Play?

Here's my proposal.

Avoid X-Factor.

Go all in on Scarlet Witch.

Brevoort is banking on Lorna fans feeling desperate to flock to the only X-Men book she's on and feeding his monster, then getting stabbed in the back when he flips the switch or the story she appears in is trash.

Orlando and Dauterman offer another way. They're the winning play. If the issue(s) with Lorna succeed (especially if they rise higher than issues without her), and the X-Factor ones do not, it makes clear that a) Lorna IS a star that people want to see, and b) the X-Factor and Havolaris stuff is very much not what Lorna fans want. It shows fans care about Lorna for Lorna, not for her being forced on a 90s nostalgia title and stuck playing supporting character to a man she's too often been treated poorly around.

The Scarlet Witch book is the future. X-Factor is the past. Simple as that.

That wraps up my post. Took me a couple weeks to fully wrap my head around the thing, but I finally got it.

If you had written it, what would've been your favorite moments from the stonemason arc?

Oh man there's like... so many little moments, but here are some of the bigger ones I had in mind (in mostly chronological order, across the entire arc and even beyond it with stuff tied into it):

EPretty much any confrontation between Dipper and Yellow, especially earlier on when he still has some fight in him

Dipper's initial reaction to losing his arm ahahahah oh no plus adjusting to it being gone (he'd lose it pretty early on into the process)

The slow development of the bond between Dipper and Amber, Amber realizing this human isn't like the zoomans she's dealt with before and coming to genuinely care about him and feeling grief when she realizes she can't bc she's too afraid of being found out and shattered

Bouncing off of that, the two of them bonding as Dipper tells Amber about all his friends and family back on earth, bittersweet af bc he misses them so much

The HBO playing off each other in general, especially Hessonite and Amber, there's a lot of... tension there.

The slow burn effect of Dipper's deteriorating mental state and the impact the conditioning/brainwashing is having on him as he realizes he's losing himself to Yellow's control

Bill was gonna show up and "inspire" Yellow's methods with some fucked up ideas of his own because of course he would, he'd be delighted to see something like this happen to "Pine Tree"

White was also gonna be involved, totally aware of Yellow's little "pet project" and joyfully supporting it, giving her the idea to use the song to control her new assassin effectively

Tied back up into Bill's involvement, he was def gonna give Dipper some nightmares about being back home but being unable to reach Mabel, Steven, and so on bc of what's happening to him ahahah fuck

THE moment when Dipper finally becomes Stonemason christ it would have been just So Much

Stan and Ford's reactions to Steven and Mabel coming back to Earth without Dipper. Wooo boy

Lapis' initial reaction to them coming back without Dipper. WOOO BOY

Fuck, Pacifica's reaction too jfc pain all around

The Gems and the Stan twins basically being at each others throats the entire time Dipper is gone bc christ there would be so much blame being thrown around

Steven just being... insanely guilty during the entire arc, especially once Stonemason is unmasked (more on that later)

Kevin Party would have had a scene where Mabel reunites with Gabe Bensen (puppet guy from Sock Opera) and basically explodes at him when he tries to flirt with her, bc whoops she still feels guilty about Sock Opera even a year later esp now that Dipper is gone/potentially dead

Oh yeah the fact that nobody even knows if Dipper is dead or alive during the entire time he's gone oop

Jungle Moon was gonna see Mabel seperated from Stevonnie, basically lost on her own until she's briefly captured by none other than Stonemason, recently deployed from Homeworld to track down "Rose Quartz" and shatter her; that entire subplot would have been somethin else bc Mabel has no idea who her captor is and the irony that its her brother and neither of them know it? woo baby

The scene where Stonemason is finally unmasked, the reactions to it... lord (it would have been a cliffhanger ending aahah), also bonus points bc Mabonnven was gonna be the one to unmask him so its basically the MK vs the one they thought they lost oh fuck oh no

Literally every encounter between Stonemason and the Pines and Gems after that, incredibly tension filled and upsetting hahah

Scenes of Stonemason on his own, showing signs of Dipper slipping through the cracks of the conditioning more and more as time goes on thanks to all of the encounters Stonemason has with his friends and family getting through to him

Stonemason vs. Maven. Nough said

Steven using his dream powers to finally find and communicate with Dipper inside his own head; it'd be kinda like that one bit in Dimensions but hhhh ya know even more gay and fucked up

Yellow would have had Stonemason attack Gravity Falls to lure "Rose" out; he's unmasked the entire time so that basically instills a lot of fear and mistrust in the townsfolk toward Dipper later on (more on that later)

Basically a redux of this oneshot I wrote a long time ago

The gang finally successfully capturing Stonemason

Steven and Mabel going inside his head to rescue Dipper, encountering Stonemason who tries to stop them; Dipper overpowering him and taking back control of his mind and body

Everyone's relieved, overjoyed reactions to Dipper finally being back golly

Dipper having to essentially get used to living like a human again (bc on Homeworld he didn't actually get food, he got "nutrition suplements" instead and Stonemason's armor probs had something in it to make sure he didn't need to sleep I don't fucking know) so ya know, adjustment period angst

Also Dipper adjusting the metal arm, not knowing how to control its strength at first, being upset that he has it and that it can't be removed, ect.

Townsfolk being angry and accusatory towards Dipper for the destruction Stonemason caused in town; surprisingly enough, Gideon of all people would have stood up for him, bc he understands what its like to have essentially an entire town turn against him too

Raising the Barn being so much more fucking devestating because Dipper begs Lapis to take him with her bc he's so scared of Yellow finding him and controlling him again; Lapis says she will, but ultimately doesn't (both because she doesn't want to take him away from his family so soon after they got him back and because she's worried Yellow might be able to track him through the arm)

Steven being ridden with guilt to the point that he considers making a deal with a certain dream demon to undo all this shit hehhehe

All that ^^ culminating with a Stepper appearence when Dipper assures Steven that he doesn't blame him for what's happened and still cares so much about him

There's a TON more but those are the standouts I have right now. Gotta keep all these fresh in my mind because I may actually end up writing this out after all. Just cause.

Final Space

I finished watching the series a month or so ago, but I wanted to join my voice in praise of Final Space. I based this on a poster for the original Star Wars

Sadly, once again I discover a great new show only after it has been cancelled and given a cliffhanger ending (I seem to have a penchant for that).

I love this show! I has not one, not two, but three! of my favorite things to see in stories:

1. A guy become a better person through the pursuit/influence of the woman that he loves

2. Guys being best friends and supporting each other

3. Good dads! And this show has it so nice they did it twice!

Bonus points for the found family trope and for David Tennant, too!

Final Space is fantastic and I hope that whichever corporate stooge chose to cancel it suffers lifelong regret for that heinous decision.

NSB (Straud Legacy) Gen 9

Today's (7/25/2024) Episode: Raging Success

In the aftermath of her second surgery Noemi was once again forced to delay her plans to start her job with Rainy Day’s tech division.

She did her best to be OK with the circumstances, enjoying time with her family and supporting Luigi’s career, which was taking off like a rocket.

During their time in university Luigi had come to terms with Beau being the better gamer, and that continued with their transition to the pro league.

However, Luigi’s good looks and cheerful nature quickly made him a fan favorite.

Where Beau, and many of their other teammates, often struggled during post game interviews and promotional events Luigi was on fire, the enthusiasm that others sometimes found annoying in one-on-one conversation making him shine with the fans and in front of the camera.

Luigi’s mastery of programming also gave him the opportunity to win major brownie points with his boss.

While many of his fellow gamers were decent at the skill almost none had already maxed it the way he had. When he volunteered to take on the task of sprucing up the team's outdated website, management was skeptical but agreed to let him give it a try.

Luigi completed the project in record time, and even managed to charm an up-and-coming werewolf actress from Hunter’s collective into posing for fresh new banner images, both solo and with him and the rest of the team. His superiors were “over the moon” impressed with their go-getter.

His work on the website and continued success in tournaments quickly earned Luigi his next promotion.

To celebrate the couple once again left Skye with the grandparents and tried for another date night. Their evening at the movies was lots of fun for them and, thankfully, ended under the sheets instead of at the hospital!

In no time Luigi’s popularity at work was leading to endorsement deals! When a request came in to help promote one of his dad’s favorite local cooking channels Luigi eagerly agreed to the contract. There was a performance bonus attached if the campaign did well enough, and he had a plan.

His real-life live-in chef was a celebrity, and an old hand at keeping things fun and light. The father/son duo had an absolute blast with their “family night dinner and drinks” collab. Luigi’s new high-end drone, Yoshi, floated around the kitchen catching footage of banter and bottles flying wildly.

So much time staring at himself in the mirror preparing for the shoot, and on the video afterwards, had the unintended consequence of making Luigi even more self absorbed than before, skyrocketing the pride he’d always felt in his natural good looks to a whole new level.

While editing and adding transitions prior to uploading the footage Luigi realized that he was really enjoying himself. Media production was yet another way to have fun in front of the computer.

He couldn’t wait for another endorsement opportunity to roll in!

It wasn’t long before father and son were celebrating the sensational success of their episode of “TV Dinner”.

Peachy’s participation in the project brought in a much broader fanbase than Luigi could have managed on his own, and their comfortable father/son dynamic and skill in the kitchen were a huge hit with both cooking and mixology enthusiasts.

Luigi’s star was shining bright, and he couldn’t be happier. He’d never set out to be famous, but it felt right. He’d always wanted to impress his watcher and their friends and show the world just how successful he could be. Now no one could possibly deny that he was a “big deal”.

Nothing, he felt, could stop him now!

Rather than cram that huge media station into Luigi’s house I tried out the Elgato Streaming Set mod by Ravasheen.

Its not perfect (not all functionality seems to be available) but it works for most things and I really liked having Luigi do Media Production on his laptop.

Hi! Good luck with your new job! Here's whats been cooking in my brain for now:

Ever heard of code switching? Its essentially when you change the way to talk depending on who you're interacting with. For example, using slang and swear words with friends but speaking very formally with a teacher.

What about Scarabia doing some dynamic switching? Just being able to instantly change how they interact depending on who's around.

When with they're with the Asims or in the Scalding Sands in public, the switch to the master Kalim and servant Jamil dynamic.

When they're at NRC and doing dorm duties, they switch to the dorm leader Jamil and vice leader Kalim dynamic.

When its just the two of them or they're with close friends or in class, they switch to the sunshine-grumpy friend dynamic.

I feel like it would be a major mark for their character development. They're truly equals in the sense that they both have times where one is in charge and moments where they're not bound by expected social conventions. For Jamil, it'd mean moving on from years of psychological conditioning. For Kalim it'd mean moving on from his forced obliviousness and actually stepping up as a proud Scarabian. For both it means forming a genuine friendship outside of the expectations of their society.

Also I feel like Kalim having to be the vice-dorm leader in general would do wonders for his independance. Mostly cause the vice-dorm leader duties seem to have more to do with physical dorm management such as dealing with chores and similar short term problems. Having to learn how to do chores properly so he can support his dorm (he can do it we've SEEN him do it on Bean's Day he can follow instructions just fine) and having to actively be considerate since he's now interacting much more directly with the rest of Scarabia.

Meanwhile Jamil can finally reach his full potential as a dorm-leader as he works through his issues. He'll be forced to delegate and how to balance keeping the dorm running efficiently and the endless parties. I can see him set up a once a week party schedule with special dinners in between.

I'd love to see their dynamic evolve into something like Yzma and Kronk from Emperor's New Groove. Like we got Jamil all serious and scheming while Kalim is in the background just trying to support his bestie and being a sunshine. Kalim may not be the smartest, but is observant when he wants to be and I bet its his "stupid questions" that lead to Jamil noticing any holes in his plans.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love sassy Kalim because I really love sassy Kalim. Just Jamil being snarky as usual while Kalim unexpectadly claps back.

Bonus: Should I also mention that I love evil minion!Kalim and villain!Jamil? Again its the Yzma and Kronk vibes for me.

Kalim: *giggling* Funny cause last time he said that you ended up loosing.

Jamil: It's called a cruel irony Kalim. Like my dependance on you.

Kalim: The fact that there's nobody else says a lot more about you than me.

Bonus bonus: Kalim attending the secret vice-dorm leader meetings at the Monstro Lounge where they just drink and complain about the dorm leaders.

Kalim: I'm happy that I'm finally getting to know the real Jamil, but I never expected him to be so . . .

Kalim: Exactly! Just this afternoon I had to convince him that strangling Ace would be a bad idea, not because murder is bad mind you, but because he'd have no way from getting rid of all the evidence before somebody else found out. When I think of arguing, I imagine great negotiations with other merchant families or debates in class. Not trying to stop my friend from commiting murder cause his morality is so skewed!

I do feel like Jamil absolutely very consciously code switches (and probably unconsciously too, because that’s how it works, but still). Kinda part of the whole servant role and carefully keeping up appearances, you know. Makes me wonder how much Kalim does it at the moment, though. 🤔 Like I don't remember seeing him have much of a "formal" register, for example, if that makes sense.

Hadsfhs that minion!Kalim and villain!Jamil dynamic is quite something tho. Quite upends the usual dynamic, but I can definitely see it being in character for them, with the right circumstances. Like, we’ve seen how supportive Kalim wants to be, but he is also capable of sticking to his guns sometimes.

Ah the things Jamil could pull out of him (with Kalim's willing co-operation, too), if he really wanted to.

Makes me wonder just what the journey would be for them to make it all the way there from the current dynamic, tho. All those little changes to upend the situation.
