1. Are you named after anyone?

No

2. When was the last time you cried?

About an hour ago! Just a little cry, my parents and brother have been visiting me over the weekend as it's my birthday soon and they'd just left so I'm back to being here on my own!

3. Do you have kids?

No, and I don't see that in my future, but am honorary auntie to my friends children

4. What sports do you play/ have you played?

Currently playing field hockey. I've been playing for 11 years now. I absolutely love it, playing in defense and in goal, and also coach and umpire (umpiring only when they reeeeally need me to though!).

Have played - would be easier to list what I haven't 😂 I've played football, cricket, basketball, netball, volleyball, to name a few.

While being able bodied myself, a friend of mine who works with local charities for disabilities organised some wheelchair basketball tournaments that I'd been invited to play in. Quite an experience! Don't think I embarrassed myself too much, but a bunch of us from my hockey team put a team together, and we had fun and a laugh with the other teams involved.

5. Do you use sarcasm?

Yes, to my detriment. I once sarcastically agreed to be a hockey team captain one year, the sarcasm wasn't picked up and a couple of months later I see a facebook post advertising me as one of the captains :| I followed through and did the year, but never again!

6. What's the first thing you notice about people?

Eyes, mouth, facial expression, gauging their interest in the current situation

7. What's your eye colour?

Blue and brown - brown around the pupils, kinda starbursting out into blue towards the edges (central heterochromia o.O)

8. Scary movies or happy endings?

Scary movies usually, I'm a bit cynical and like it when there's a twist at the end where the bad guy wins!

9. Any talents?

Not especially, I'm reasonably good at as sports and crafty things. My 'weird' talent would be that my fingers are hypermobile, so my fingers bend a bit backwards at the knuckles, and I can bent the finger tip joints while keeping the rest of the finger straight

10. Where were you born?

Oxfordshire, UK. Moved to Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire area before I was 1 and have stayed here since

11. What are your hobbies?

Playing hockey, video games, reading, crafting and making little things, such as reconfiguring and painting funko pops, and recently made myself a Sabine Wren mando armour costume for halloween

12. Do you have any pets?

No

13. How tall are you?

5' 1.5"

14. Favourite subject in school?

I was quite partial to maths, biology, and PE

15. Dream job?

Not really sure.. I was always interested in computing and ended up with a job in the IT industry, but it's more in the 'business' side than computing. I've gone vegan and got an electric car over the last 2 years, and have been trying to be more 'green' in general. So it would be cool to be able to do something in that realm, making steps in that direction more accessible and financially viable for businesses and the general public. If money wasn't an object I used to want to work in Game or HMV so I could just play games all day and mess about with merch, while somehow not getting fired

currently reading: I’m between books at the moment, since I just finished Ahsoka by E.K. Johnston. I’m planning on starting Donna Tart’s The Secret History next, though. (I'm reading for college classes as well, but I don't think that counts.) as for fanfiction, I’m not reading any particular longfics at the moment, but I’m planning on finally getting back to “Dark Lights” by @spell-cleaver soon

currently watching: mainly Ahsoka and My Happy Marriage. in the middle of a Star Wars Rebels rewatch with my partner. occasionally I'm watching Komi Can't Communicate, but I'm making my way through it very slowly

next on my watchlist: I have quite a long watchlist, so I'm not really sure. Inside Job, Fruits Basket, The Way of the Househusband, and The West Wing are all pretty high on the list though. oh and I keep meaning to watch the 2003 Clone Wars microseries, so hopefully I'll do that soon

Well after 10 months I finally finished my fanbind of @bolshoiromanova This Life of Ours. I was really excited to tackle this project since I have just started doing fanbinding. What is more appropriate than the fanfic got me interested in Star Wars (take that canon material). After a year and a half after first reading this fic and many many Star Wars fics since then, this one is still one of my all time favorites. I am very proud of how this turned out and I can now put it on my bookshelf.

1. Are you named after anyone? Yeah, a pretty amazing grandmother I never met.

2. When was the last time you cried? A few hours ago. But the last good cry? It’s been at least a month.

3. Do you have kids? Nope.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? Me? Never. Absolutely not. I say what I mean and mean what I say, all the time at least half of the time.

5. What’s the first thing you notice about people? Physically: hair and eyes—don’t judge me. Personality-wise: kindness or lack thereof.

6. What’s your eye color? A light shade of brown.

7. Scary movies or happy endings? Scary movies with happy endings.

8. Any special talents? I play the piano very poorly and have a knack for annoying people to the point that I’m able to carry full conversations by myself after they stop showing interest.

9. Where were you born? The States.

10. What are your hobbies? Reading but I’ve fallen behind with that. Writing but I’m not all that great at it. Watching too much TV and movies and dissociating from life.

11. Have you any pets? Not any more, but I wish I did.

12. What sports do you/have you played? Baseball and softball. Used to have a pretty neat throw from the outfit, too bad I couldn’t hit the ball for crap.

14. Favorite subject in school? Easy, history. I have a degree to prove it.

15. Dream job? Many and I technically have one of them. But I’d also totally love to work as an archivist/historian if money didn’t matter, especially in like a film studio.

Hey! I saw your awesome meta about the Nat deleted scenes. One thing I've been thinking about lately is that line from the CW junior novel where Nat talks about getting dumped in the middle of siberia with her Red Room classmates. One impression that I think a lot of fans get of the mcu Red Room because of this and also a tweet from the Agent Carter set is that only one girl ends up surviving her Red Room "class". (Yelena most likely wouldn't count bc she's younger than Nat and part of a different class) But in BW we clearly see an entire team of widows that were trained together. Any thoughts?

So I have spent WAY too long thinking about this, and based on what we know from various interview snippets from the past two years I think there’s a way to fanwank it all together. If I’m remembering things correctly. Which, to be fair, I may not be.

This gets long. (CW for brainwashing, indoctrination, and abuse- the usual Red Room and Bucky mixture.)

Didn’t they start the movie discussion with talk about the Red Room being re-created to make the current Widows? That could mean new policies, and honestly, “training 32 girls but only keeping one of them” seems like a much less efficient policy than “train all the girls and use them til they die of their own accord.”

(I mean, the metaphor of only one girl surviving is great, and the girls having to kill each other to survive is a perfect way to use brutality to train away their emotions and attachments, but from an Effective Evil Organization standpoint, it’s an unforced expenditure of resources.)

This would allow both the technically-canon we have to stand (because I’m pretty sure both the novelizations and Agent Carter can be seen as TECHNICALLY not the MCU if they’re directly contradicted; only the movies are 100% canon, and as we know even that can be flexible) and create an army of Widows for Nat and Yelena to fight.

There’s also the possibility that killing the girls off IS a slow lifelong thing, like all the Red Room alums are being useful as long as they can but only the one in each class who survives the longest gets the title of Widow. And I know Black Widow is for the deadly spider but that would also play well into the idea of a widow being the one who outlived her companion(s). So then the scenes like in Agent Carter where preteen girls fought to the death wouldn’t be unheard of but also wouldn’t be the norm; the girls would know it COULD happen at any moment but it would be rare.

I can fanwank that a lot better than I can fully square Agent Carter with what we’ve seen from the trailers of Nat and Yelena. I mean, it makes sense that if they need to go undercover as a family they would take children they already had in the murder factory, but it didn’t seem like Dottie and her cohort were going on missions; they were just training and being indoctrinated 24/7. I think there’s so much that could be so interesting if Nat was subjected to similar- did she have to watch Beauty and the Beast the way Dottie watched Snow White? (someone write that Bruce/Nat right now)- but we can’t ignore that she and Yelena had three years OFF from indoctrination. Working with Melina and Alexei would obviously be considered an honor, but would it set them behind in their murderstudies? “Is it better to be taken out of the Red Room and returned or just left there permanently” is more than just a “is it better to know freedom and lose it or never have it”; did Nat and Yelena always have to play catch-up? How does that impact who they are today?

And how much does Bucky-was-taken-by-Hydra apply now? Like, he still has the red star on his arm and Alexei’s costume is damn similar; can we assume Department X was somewhat involved in Bucky’s training as well as the Red Room’s? Because that would mean that in the decade or so after Dottie’s class was indoctrinated they developed actual brainwashing abilities, and would that have been used on the Widows, or was that considered more expensive and less efficient than the indoctrination, especially if the girls didn’t know any different? Bucky had memories of another world that needed to be wiped away, but we saw Dottie didn’t.

Did Yelena and Natasha getting exposed to three years as normal kids change whether the Red Room thought they needed brainwashing versus indoctrination versus both?

And what is the organizational structure of the Red Room by the time Nat and Yelena are there? In Age of Ultron we had Madame B but here we have Dreykov; do we know if Madame B is even in this? Given how many of the visions in Age of Ultron were symbolic rather than literal memories, are we sure that Madame B was ever real, or was she a construct meant to represent all of the authority figures of the Red Room in Natasha’s psyche? If the heads of the Red Room are men- and we know that Dreykov is a Red Room authority figure and that Melina has been through the Red Room several times herself- why was that symbol a woman? (I mean, yes, I know, it’s Joss, but how do we square this in-universe?)

To be clear all of these are terrible options, every last one of them, but I am so excited at all the different flavors of terrible we will get to explore.

Was it really debunked??

The original was posted months ago and was debunked within three hours. The person who wrote it admitted they made it up, if I remember correctly. They had a bunch of other predictions that were disproven rather quickly. I think this rumor resurfaced because there's a new reddit post, but that post doesn't mention Sharon at all, so I think that they tacked on a bunch of other rumors, including the debunked Sharon and Bucky one. Although, given that Sebastian Stan himself has said he wants Bucky to actually go on dates again, I'm not sure why anyone's acting the world is ending over him going on a date. Just because he might go on a date with a girl. Just... ugh. Overreaction.

Help a neurodivergent fella to buy a half decent headphone

A couple days ago i had a fall and while i was physically fine ( only a busted knee and swollen ankle) my headphone took a more fatal blow, one of the side is broken and no matter how much ways i find to try to mend it i had no sucess.

Since I'm sensitive to loud noises, my headphones were my source of comfort and that i have virtually no spare money to buy a new one, I'm now asking for help here while i try to come up with some extra money.

Bucky whipped around, already knowing who had broken into his room. “Ha ha. Hilarious. You’re one to talk.”

Natasha was reclined against his bed, looking like she owned the place in her skin-tight red dress and come-hither smile.

“Jessica Rabbit isn’t scary,” Natasha corrected, standing up and crossing the room to where Bucky still stood halfway outside the door. “Now, the Winter Soldier? An original idea, I’ll give you that, but combined with the blood I think it may be a bit much. You’ll scare Peter.”

Bucky scoffed, but allowed her to lick her thumb and scrub pointedly at the blood he knew was still splattered on his cheek. “I just came back from a mission, Doll. Give me some time to breath. And besides, that kid isn’t afraid of anything. I could show up half-dead and he’d just ask me how the new upgrades on my arm are working.”

Natasha smirked, unbuckling the straps that ran across his chest before throwing weapons holster onto his bed. “He’s a good kid, but kind of an oddball. So I think it’s still a better idea for you to change into your costume before we head up. And make it fast—the party started a half an hour ago. People have been asking where you are.”

Bucky shook his head, stepping forward and closing the door as he took over for Natasha. “I’m not going, Nat. I already told you that.”

“No, you didn’t,” Natasha protested, leaning against the door and watching him take off his clothes with hungry eyes. “You took a last-minute mission on your own, hoping that it would keep you away long enough to miss the party. But it didn’t, so move your ass and get in that costume.”

Bucky shrugged. “Same thing. Still not going.”

Natasha sighed heavily, coming around to face him with a firm hand on his chest and a stern look. The one that always meant she was about to get what she wanted and that resistance was futile. Bucky gulped.

“You have to show your face eventually, Barnes. You may not think it, but those people up there are your friends. Hiding behind the Winter Soldier isn’t going to help you. That’s not who you are anymore—everyone else knows that. Why don’t you?”

“I… I don’t deserve it, Nat. Steve’s happiness, Peter’s weird questions, Tony’s forgiveness, your… you. I don’t deserve any of it.” He let his head fall, resting his forehead against hers as he gripped her hand tightly. He didn’t deserve any of it but he deserved Natasha’s love least of all. It was a hard truth, but it was one he had come to accept.

“Maybe not,” Natasha allowed, placing a hand on his cheek. “But they think you do. And isn’t that enough for now?”

Bucky hesitated, thinking that maybe she was right. Maybe it was time that he let the Winter Soldier go and focus on healing with the family that he didn’t deserve. Natasha had a tendency to be right, after all.

“That depends,” he finally said, leaning his head back and giving her a small smile that made her red lips quirk up into a smirk. “What costume did you pick out for me?”

“Oh, you’ll love it,” she purred, heading into his closet. “It’s a couple’s costume!”

“No,” Bucky immediately protested, backing away. “No way. I am not going as a giant rabbit. Find something else.”

“It’s too late,” Natasha sang, coming towards him with the gaudiest rabbit suit he’d ever seen. He backed away, hands raised. “You should have listened to me when I was trying to plan our costumes. Consider this your punishment.”

She had him backed against the door now, with nowhere to go considering he was mostly naked and there was a party going on only a few doors down. He dropped his head back and sighed in defeat, holding his hand out for the costume.

“You hate me,” he grumbled, taking the suit from her hands and shuffling off to the bathroom to put it on.

“No,” she called after him as he shut the door. “I love you, Bucky, but sometimes you just need to lighten the fuck up, you know?”

Bucky laughed, trying to hold onto that thought as he pulled on the monstrosity. Natasha was probably right, he did need to lighten up a little.

At least, that’s what he tried to tell himself when they entered the party to Sam’s hysterical laughter and the spider-kid asking him when he became a furry. Natasha’s bright smile and delighted laugh made it all worth it if nothing else. And the promise of kicking Sam’s ass in training the next day, of course.
