There's something out there called the drama cd of MHA and something happened that made people on Twitter go ape shit. I can sum it up to something like this if I understood correctly (if i didn't, please correct me because i would also want to know more about this):

So Bakugou, Todoroki, Midoriya and Kirishima are out on a mission and hit with a villian quirk that makes them hug each other and Deku goes to hug Kiri and Bakugou goes to hug Todoroki. So like from what I heard Bakugou and Todoroki almost kiss but are stopped by Izuku and both bkdk and tdbk shippers are both mad and happy about the turn of events.

Sounds kinda exciting, but I really have no idea what this is all about.

i’m going to be honest here.

the summary paragraph before the word salad is that it doesn’t really matter whether or not kirishima is straight, it’s seven years too late for horikoshi to confirm that and CD Dramas are partially canon. Also I don’t know the exact details of the CD Drama, so please come and correct me lol

horikoshi may have intended everyone to be straight but i see the chemistry between all the characters (and yes i can see tdd.k and mmj.r, fandom turned me away from them though so don’t bother me about it), but especially kiribaku. like i’m sorry, but you can’t have this whole narrative of kirishima becoming bakugo’s friend (as a parallel to midoriya and bakugo’s complicated relationship) and being pivotal to the rescue because there’d be no one else bakugo would leave the battlefield for. And the hand clasp? That smile bakugo has in that moment???? their bond???? the way bakugo encouraged kirishima???? 

so if anything, even if horikoshi said that kirishima was straight he’s a) seven years too late to confirm that b) should’ve thought about it before having scenes similar in beats to m/f ships (i.e. encouraging characters via callbacks to previous events) and c) could’ve developed m/f ships a lot better but shonen’s got to shonen (and i’ll admit as someone who enjoys a lot of the m/f pairings, i’m doing the legwork here to make it more nuanced) 

also canon is a suggestion and we’ve all been deep in our headcanons for seven years, so a CD Drama shouldn’t really change anything (they’re sort of canon in the sense that they could happen, but not canon because of fourth wall breaks [see: the CD Drama where Momo goes to an Ennichi Festival and runs into Shoto, timestamped to when Ochako breaks the fourth wall, the animatic is fan-made btw])

and although i have not heard the CD Drama (nor would I understand what was going on lol) it’s possible that Kirishima’s discomfort could be because he’s forced to do something he doesn’t want to in front of other people. From what I’ve heard, several of the boys got hit with a Quirk and are kissing and/or hugging in front of each other, so I’d understand the discomfort there

INTRO

IIDA: (00:00) Bakugou was kidnapped by the League of Villains and to rescue him, I, Iida Tenya, along with Midoriya, Kirishima, Todoroki and Yaoyorozu, have reached the Kamino district, thanks to Yaoyorozu's detection device. However, we are in a very lively district at night, and people would notice us if they see five teenagers walking. In the worst case, we might even be taken to the police station. Due to these reasons, we decided to go shopping for costumes at the nearby Don Quixote department store.

INTO THE DRAMA

IIDA: (00:42) So, this is the rumored "extremely cheap" discount store, the “Super Cheap Don Quixote”!

TODOROKI: (00:48) Iida, have you been here before?

IIDA: (00:50) No, and you?

TODOROKI: (00:52) No.

YAOYOROZU: (00:53) I have not been here either! Well, let's go into the super cheap Don Quixote department store!

TODOROKI: (00:58) Yaoyorozu, aren't you too excited about this? / Why are you too excited about this?

YAOYOROZU: (01:00) W-no way! What do you mean? This is the first time I've ever experienced something like this, so…

IIDA: (01:06) What?! What?! Look at the volume and sizes of all these products!

TODOROKI: (01:12) There are too many lines. Each row is so crowded that only one person can go through it at a time.

IIDA: (01:17) There are even products up to the ceiling! How could a client get such a high item? Do they even intend to sell these?

TODOROKI: (01:22) Probably not.

YAOYOROZU: (01:25) I heard from Ashido-san that there are kinds of stores that have so many interesting items to look at, and anything that you may be looking for!

TODOROKI: (01:34) What does that mean?

YAOYOROZU: (01:35) To put it simply, it's like playing while shopping!

TODOROKI: (01:39) That sounds annoying / such a drag.

YAOYOROZU: (01:40) As expected of Kirishima and Midoriya, they are able to walk easily through these narrow hallways!

TODOROKI: (01:45) They must be used to these kinds of places.

IIDA: (01:46) T-Todoroki-kun!

TODOROKI: (01:47) What’s the matter, Iida?

IIDA: (01:50) Just look! This 100% real, preservative-free orange juice that I always drink is only 900 yen for six 2-liter bottles! If you calculate it, each liter is only 150 yen each! What kind of price is this?! The catchy phrase of this slogan "Super Cheap" is really true. It is so cheap! I just have to buy it right here and now!

TODOROKI: (02:09) Iida, do you intend to rescue Bakugou while you have 12-liter bottles with you?

IIDA: (02:15) Ah… You are right! I'm sorry. I was distracted by the price of these items!

THE ENNICHI FESTIVAL DRAMA CD

(aka TODOMOMO crumbs for a whole 7 minutes but hey, who's counting)

OmiGOSH you guys, I just listened to the Ennichi Festival drama CD (Im a little late into the fandom so I didnt know this even EXISTED) AND I WAS JUST???? THE TODOMOMO CRUMBS IN THIS????

Okay so let's break the crumbs down shall we:

1. Todoroki seeing Yaoyorozu standing alone in the crowd, and then asking her to come walk around the festival with him. He saw her first. HE APPROACHED HER FIRST. He could have EASILY ignored her and just kept going on about his business. BUT HE DIDNT. IT WAS A DATE, Y'ALL CAN FIGHT ME.

2. Todoroki opening up about his family issues to Yaoyorozu. By now we all know how sensitive this topic is for him, and how difficult it is for him to talk about it. The fact that he opened up to Yaoyorozu means he trusts her. I'm not crying, you are.

3. Must we forget the part where Todoroki goes, "I cant believe Im telling this to someone else" and Momo goes "I'm not just someone else" like BrooOoOoo that was ICONIC. Yaaas Momo go get that bread! Momo is the QUEEN of subtle flirting y'all better take notes!!!

4. YAOYOROZU TELLING SHOTO HE CARES FOR HIM. She basically said, "I'm here, we're family, we care for you." I know she said it in a plural sense as she included everyone in the class in this sentiment, but gurl, we all know what she meant. IF THIS DOESNT MAKE YOUR KOKORO GO BOOM BOOM, I DONT KNOW WHAT WILL

It is lliterally 3:00am, I cant sleep, I am DYING. TODOMOMO IS REAL. I AM DOWN FOR IT, URARAKA AND HAGAKURE ARE DOWN FOR IT, TODOROKI AND MOMO ARE DOWN FOR IT (they dont know it yet so hush) AND I WILL FIGHT FOR THIS SHIP BE IT THE END OF ME.

If Someone Would Be So Kind...

The newest My Hero Academia Blu Ray/DVD, which is season 4 vol 4, has a drama cd in which Endeavour, All Might, Present Mic and Aizawa have a BBQ dinner after the remedial classes/arc. If anyone purchases this can they upload it and a translation to tumblr? Or just translate the preview? I’ll put link in replies so the post shows up. Thanx for any help.

The voice drama for the volume 5 DVD of season 4 of MHA features Ashido helping Midoriya, Uraraka, and Iida practice dancing for the school festival 💃 They do a dance quiz and get Todoroki try and answer (not included in the sound preview).

U.A. Dance Academia

Deku, Ochako, and Iida have been put in charge of dancing at the School Festival, and as part of Ashido’s lessons they decide to do a dance quiz. They get Todoroki to act as the judge and start to dance but...

Ashido: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8! Okay, stop! Looking good, Uraraka! Your dance is coming together well!

Uraraka: Yay! Practicing in my room yesterday was worth it!

Iida: How was I, Ashido?

Ashido: Your moves are still too stiff in some spots, but you’re improving! Iida, I think you’ll really shine during your solo robot dance bit so let’s practice that more!

Iida: Understood!

Ashido: So the problem is... Midoriya.

Midoriya: Ah! Did I do something wrong?!

Ashido: It’s just... there’s no passion in your dance! It’s obvious that you’re nervous!

Midoriya: Sorry, I’m just so focused on not messing up the choreography...

Ashido: The moves are important, but the most important thing when dancing is to have fun! The audience will feel that when they’re watching!
