@bokketo : "You wouldn't happen to be the one who enabled Grant's convenient disappearance, would you? Because that was some clever work, I won't lie." // barney @ isha
‘ Oh, Barney. You know better than to blow smoke up my ass looking for answers, ’ Isha says pleasantly, circling the two blocks of ice in her drink with her stirring straw. If she did have any involvement with Grant’s disappearance, then she was contractually obliged not to mention it to a single other soul, ( her own rules. ) If it wasn’t her and she knew who was involved . . . well, she was no snitch. Especially not to guys like Barney. He was one of the smarter men who ran in her circle, which made him even more dangerous than the idiot blabbermouths that panicked at the first sign of law enforcement. Luckily for her, she is not riddled with ego or a need to claim good work as her own. She’s sure as shit going to wait until the statute of limitations runs out before ‘fessing up to anything to do with Grant.
She takes a sip of her drink and casts her gaze out beyond the rooftop of the exclusive bar she’d gotten them seats at. She looks back at Barney, and given the angle of the setting sun, maybe he can just make out her eyes through her polaroid lenses. ‘ I don’t hear from you for three months, Bernard, and the first thing you ask me is about another man. I’m almost insulted. Tell me I didn’t blow a favour with Morales for a last minute reservation for nothing. ’

@bokketo asked: “ just come over. “ // barney
Well that’s an interesting turn of events from their previous conversation. Maybe Maria shouldn’t have talked about getting her hands on him. …Nah. That was the whole point of phone sex. Ten minutes on the phone had already done wonders in erasing an entire week’s worth of frustrations. “Because I don’t have any of my own plans?” Maria asks, spinning slowly in her chair and looking up at the ceiling. There’s a faint watermark from the time the incoming class managed to flood the locker rooms. “This is the problem with you not giving me any warning, you know. It’s why we’re on the phone in the first place.” She lets the silence hang there for a long moment, partly because Barney deserves to worry and partly because she’s not about to suggest that he should actually warn her. That might lead to them actually making plans, which feels much too official for either of them. “I’ve spent the last eleven hours at the office, I was kind of looking forward to getting in bed. Not like that,” she continues, hoping to head off the lewd comment she’s sure is coming her way. “Okay, look. I can give you two hours from the second I walk through that door, but then I really need to go home and get some sleep.” Just because they’ve both fallen asleep before doesn’t mean it’s a regular thing, and she’s not about to consider it a sure thing. “If that’s okay with you, I’ll leave right now.”

💕 💕 💕 💕 💕
send 💕 or ( ‘HEART’ ) for me to randomly pick one of my mutuals and write at least two things about why i love seeing them on my dash, writing with them, talking to them, etc.
----------------------------
@bennyboylewis : Iz, you have been one of biggest supporters ever, and you’re one of the best friends I’ve ever made in life, and I’m blessed every day for you. I love you, girlie. You’ve been so kind and compassionate and patient with me, and I cannot express my gratitude adequately enough. Also, I love Ben. I think you’re the person I have the most AUs with period. I love Ben’s sense of loyalty and snark--Amelia does, too, even when that crazy mechanic drives her insane. You are an insanely talented person, and I hope one day you see it for yourself.
@tsushimanoonryo : I know we don't write together, but I love reading your threads, and honestly, the few times we've chatted OOC, you've always been so cool and chill to talk with. You're a highly creative individual, and I love all the amount of detail you've poured into your muse. Keep on being awesome!
@wildthiiing : Lanie, gosh, I’ve been writing with you for so long! Over so many muses... I love interacting with all of your muses, and Amelia especially loves Jane and Trip and Barney. I love reading your threads, I love seeing your headcanons and the things you post that remind you of your muses. Thank you for always putting up with my hyper ass. And all the spam.
@bokketo : What can I say about Onyx? They are very talented, able to write such vastly different muses, all of them very well. Onyx is an insanely talented writer and photographer, and they have been such a supportive and sweet friend. I'm very lucky to have met them.
@koiwrites : God, where do I begin with you? You have stuck by me through it all, you were one of my first partners on this hellsite! You are so insanely talented, and I'm always happy to see what you create. Thank you so much for putting up with me and all my screaming about our babies. Thank you for just being a friend and solid partner. I cannot express how much both of those have meant to me over the years.
@quiveringdeer : Nat is a very talented writer, and they have introduced me to different horror movies. Even though I am not a fan of Attack on Titan (nothing wrong with it, just the premise never grabbed my attention), I really enjoy reading her headcanons and ficlets about characters
@adventurepunks : Love this one so much. If anyone likes stuff from Amelia's DC Argus verse, you really have this one to thank. Between the adventures with Zee and Amelia or her romance with Roy. Although he is one of my favorite DC boys of all time, I never expected to ship him with Amelia--or that I would ship these two so dang hard. Not only are they so patient with me for replies, always willing to go along with any of my crazy ideas, they always check up on me, and they are just a sweetheart.
@thedemonconstantine : This person, right here, is an INCREDIBLE artist! Seriously, you need to check out their artwork. I don't know this mun too much OOC, so I don't know if their IRL job involves art, but I hope it does, because again, their talents are incredible. I'm often a spy on their John/Nick threads with @adventurepunks; I can't help it. It may not be my preferred ship for Constantine, but GAWD, their threads are SO GOOD! 10/10 def. recommend!
@blizzardmuses : Bea is just such a sweetheart and always indulges me with whatever crazy idea I throw at them. They are a very talented writer, and I'm always happy when I get to write with them or read their threads. If you're a Starfire or Red Hood fan, then most definitely I recommend following this one 10/10.
@audaxbellator : Oh, wow, Bethany, how long have we been partners?? Seems like it’s been forever, ever since I created Amelia. You’ve always been so kind and so sweet to me, thank you. Steve and Amelia are just perfect for each other, and I always get excited to write with you. Thank you for not only being a friend to me but for being a writing partner.

💋 SMOOCH MY BABIES YOU KNOW WHO (but also feel free to pick randomly lol)
A kiss for Ivan from Keith, pressed chastely on the mouth as they part ways that morning for their respective jobs.
A kiss for Eva from Shiro, pressed aggressively to her cheek, right before he snaps a selfie with her in front of the Disneyland Star Wars Launch Bay, their Mickey Mouse headbands knocking together.
A kiss for Barney from Rebecca, on the back of his neck as she wraps him up from behind, a smattering of more kisses along his shoulder.
A kiss for Riley from Sam, pressed delicately to her forehead, in a rare moment of quiet between them, the space between them usually filled with teasing, laughter, and quick-wit.
A kiss for Ji-Ying from Shiro, brushed, barely there, on the back of his hand a moment after Shiro reaches for it across the table, meeting his eyes over his knuckles to assess whether this was acceptable.
A kiss for Jane from Thor, aimed perhaps for her cheek but gets her on the corner of her lips --- she's a long way down from him, okay ? --- and lingers a moment as he realises before pulling away with a nervous smile and a change of subject.

“ don’t look at me like that. ” / barney @bokketo
“ like what, barney? go ahead and spell it out for me. ” cause then perhaps it would make him see just how wrong his actions were. come face to face with what he was doing so he could turn it around. as much as clint like to talk a big game about being a big hero and stopping people from doing bad or questionable things ... the game completely changed when it came to barney. his brother was the one person that he turned a blind eye towards. he already failed him multiple times over, was practically the reason why barney acted the way he did. why should he step in and make things even worse? his brother already hated and blamed him for a multitude of different things. but now here they were. a mess around them and clint staring him down with a blank expression.

@bokketo : you dip so much as a pinky back into this pond, you may well find something reaches out and drags you back into its depths. // barney barton @ nate not accepting : john wick.
“Y’know, I’m sure you’re popular with the ladies. Or gentlemen. Whichever way you swing.” Quite the impression to be made, but people like Barney aren’t people you’re friends with, because Nate sure isn’t his buddy. He’s heard of him before, and the rumours have never been positive ones, so if he’s wary around him, regardless of how long he’s known him, then that’s his prerogative. “But if you think you’re gonna convince me off this job, then…” Nate trails off with a shrug, smile curling at his lips that may as well be an invitation to be punched in the face. So what—Nathan Drake can be a cocky sonuvabitch, but he thinks he’ll have to blame both Sam and Sully for that one. “…So, drag me back into the debts of this pond, good sire! I’m sure I’ll find myself some good company——or gold.”

@bokketo : It's slow and easy, a step in to meet her, a press of his lips to hers that deepens for a moment ( just a moment, a show of self-control ) before he pulls back just enough to stare at her face. A soft smile hovers there, the kind that never existed in his life before her. "Hello, wife," Barney says, smile widening, and then leans in to kiss Rebecca again.
There had been a time when Rebecca had resisted the flood of emotions that Barney’s kisses had made her feel. The cliche butterflies in her stomach that seemed to flutter all the way up into her chest. Adamant that she wasn’t so weak as to allow a man of Barney’s temperament --- cocksure about his ability to win her over --- get the better of her. She’d eventually come down from her high horse, for the man that existed behind the curtain. Her fierce protector. Her voice of reason. Her safe place. Years later, a wedding and two children later, Barney remains the same presence in her life that she can’t live without, except now, he was also the father of her children . . . and her husband.
Rebecca’s hands smooth up Barney’s chest as he draws near, head tilted up just slightly to receive his first kiss. It leaves her with a smile on her face, one that mirrors his when she opens her eyes to find him looking at her. God, the way he looks at her . . . It’s the reason why she hadn’t needed his words to know what they were to each other, all that time ago. ‘ Hello, husband, ’ she answers, this time wrapping her arms around his neck as he kisses her again, leaning into him completely.

@bokketo : "I love the kids so much, but I'm exhausted. Can't we ask someone to look after them for a night so we can get some sleep for once?" // tired dad barney @ rebecca
Rebecca gives him a sympathetic smile that says I’m right there with you pal, as she loosens the tie of her robe, slips out of it and crawls into bed. They’d left it half an hour ago, when the first set of wailing had begun at two in the morning, shortly followed by accompanied second set, just an hour after they’d already been up to feed them. Even though the numbers were even, it honestly felt like they were being overpowered.
Rebecca settles in front of Barney, taking his face in her hands. ‘ I know you’re tired, honey. But do you really think you’d be able to get any sleep if someone else was looking after them ? ’ She could be speaking for herself, but she knows Barney’s protective streak is just as wide as hers when it comes to the twins. As enticing as the thought of one --- just one --- night where they could sleep the whole way through was . . . Rebecca couldn’t imagine leaving her babies to be comforted by someone else. Even someone as trusted or as good with children as her brother, or Barney’s brother was. Not just yet, anyway.
‘ Besides, ’ she says, smile growing fond as she starts to lay down beside Barney, sighing softly. ‘ Think we might be getting over the worst of it. ’ She shifts, resting her head on Barney’s chest so she was looking towards the cribs, even though the lights were now off and it was difficult to make anything out. ‘ Come on. You know the rule. Babies sleep, we sleep. ’ She turns her head to press a kiss to his chest, then settles in to welcome at least four more hours of uninterrupted sleep, should they be so lucky.

Barney sneaks up behind Rebecca and hauls her up into his arms. He preempts the flailing and yelling with a hard, deep kiss, gradually softening it until he pulls away breathlessly. "You," he practically grumbles, voice pitched low and wanting, "are too damn delectable for your own good, do you know that?"
Rebecca’s immediate instinct, despite being in the comfort and safety of her own home, is to yell and flail, but her brain registering that it was just Barney ensure her reaction is dialled down to just a yelp and a playful struggle in the arms that wrap around her. She has no real intention of leaving said arms. There had been a time when she’d refused to admit that any of Barney’s gimmicks worked on her --- his blatant flirting in the form of slick pick up lines and gaze that stared her up and down with far too much heat for the side of the road. Now, there is much less resistance, and she’s free to find them endearingly romantic.
He kisses her dizzy and by the time he pulls away, she’s forgotten what she had even been doing before he’d come along to sweep her off her feet. She has no intentions of returning to it, whatsoever. ‘ You know what to do with delectable things, don’t you, handsome ? ’ she says, placing a kiss to his cheek, a hotter, wetter one to his ear, teeth catching his lobe. That kiss had been something, and it had started a fire in her belly --- one that wasn’t about to die down any time soon and especially not without some tending to.

"Ah, of course, I forgot that you've never gotten seasick in your life." She supposes that one time was probably because he'd been hungover. Maria's eyebrow wings up at the mention of a mind reader and she pauses briefly, wondering if broaching her concern over that is worth it. She knows that she's hates it when anyone tries to give input on a job she's doing when she hasn't asked for it — but Maria also doesn't mess around with psychics. So far, she's been able to avoid being in the same room as any of them unless it's a legitimate, world ending threat. (Maria's grateful the X-Men hate coming to SHIELD just as much as she hates going to the Mansion.) Maria goes with "Not being recognized is a perk of never ending up with my very own wanted poster," instead. She lets Barney finish undressing her; she's not entirely sure it counts as that considering she's just in his shirt, but Barney's shirt gets dropped over the edge of the bed and she grins back at him, laughing. "And if you think I'll get lonely without you, you're the one that needs to fuck off," Maria leans forward, meeting his gaze. "You haven't forgotten how we hooked up, have you? Lots of guys in bars. Or girls." She adds, offhand. Leaving Barney with that particular mental image to keep him company is both a gift and a tease. A month on a boat is a long, long time, after all. "Just in case you were wondering what you should be competing against when you say something good," she continues, her eyes sparkling. "Give it your best shot."
knowseverythingaboutyou replied to bokketo:
“Oh no, I don’t agree that you’re the best thing since sliced bread. My heart bleeds for you.” Maria smirks back at Barney, putting her empty mug down on the dresser and taking a step towards the bed. “Give me a call when you’re not somewhere I might be recognized, and I’ll see what I can do about that favour.” Maria doesn’t look great as a blonde and she’s not willing to wear one of those nanomasks for however long Barney is somewhere she’s persona non grata. Besides, he already said he didn’t want help for work. Who would she be to ignore such clear instructions? “I should probably give you your shirt back before I head out, huh?” She’s got a bit before she actually needs to worry about going to the office, and if it really is going to be a while she might as well get one for the road. She slips one of the buttons open, slowly unbuttoning his shirt as she makes her way back to the bed. “On a ship. huh?” She asks, raising an eyebrow and climbing onto the bed, straddling his waist. “Want me to remind you to pick up some Dramamine on your way out?” Maria shrugs one shoulder out of the shirt, flashing Barney her best charming grin. One of these days she might — might — consider not teasing him so much. That’s not about to happen today. “Tell me more about this undercover shindig of yours?”
“I don’t need no Dramamine, fuck off.” He says it lightly enough that Maria should be able to tell that the retort is out of habit rather than offense. “Though I don’t think you’ll be recognized in this crew. That’s about as much as I’ll tell you about it though. I’m not looking to have my ass busted by petty mind-readers on an already dicey op…”
Oh, and there he’s already said too much. Maybe this is a foolish attempt to protect her or maybe he just really doesn’t want her involved, but he has no plans of dragging her — or anyone else — in as an accomplice. He’ll be masterfully playing his role as middle-man, learning more about the job and people involved along the way and, though he hates the thought of it these days, probably playing up the sleaze ball of his old persona to cover his thoughts in a level of grime that would make any mind reader flinch a little. Sometimes, being a dick is the only way to survive.
He climbs onto the bed after her, eyeing her up shamelessly and reaching out a hand to help pull the shirt off the rest of the way. Goddamn, that woman looks entirely too good in his clothes. “I’ll be back port-side in a month or so, maybe more or less if things go sideways. Try not to get too lonely without me. Don’t worry, I’ll give you something good to remember me by.”

@bokketo : The kids are tucked into bed and Barney wraps himself around Rebecca, savoring the moment of quiet in the house. His chin hooks over her shoulder as he hugs her close. "I never thought I'd even make it to forty, given the way I lived, and this morning I woke up thinking about how happy I'd be to grow old with you. You've really ruined me, huh."
She loves her two troublemakers with all her heart, but she’d be lying if she said she didn’t look forward to this period of calm and quiet as the two finally drift off to sleep and their house turns from an active warzone to just a dormant one. She sinks happily into the embrace that comes around her, just as she’s done peeking into the twins’ room, to make sure they were well and truly in for the night and no late night conspiring was happening under the blankets.
She lets herself feel the embrace for a moment, hands hanging onto the arms wrapped around her chest, then turns herself around to face Barney, making him out in the dim hallway light. She touches her fingertips to his cheek, admiring the good work that time has done on him, seeing shades of the years spent together, good and bad in the face she wakes up to every morning. ‘ You are far from ruined, lover mine, ’ Rebecca murmurs, a fond smile growing as she lifts on her toes to press a kiss to his lips. He may not be entirely wrong, about the way his life was headed. But there were a string of choices that they’d both made that have brought them here to this moment, and Rebecca can’t help but wonder if this isn’t what was in the cards for Barney all along. She can’t imagine what a tragic world it would be that never allowed Barney to become a father . . . what a desolate life she would have led if she had listened to her head instead of her heart when Barney asked her out on that first date.
‘ You’re lucky you look so damned good with grey hair or I might reconsider growing old with you, ’ she teases, fingers sweeping along his temples, and pulling him in for another soft kiss. ‘ You have a long life ahead of you, handsome, and nothing would make me happier than for you to spend it irritating the hell out of me. ’

“it doesn’t do any good to get worked up.” // barney "king of tact" barton @ rebecca -_- sent by @bokketo .
‘ I am perfectly capable of having this conversation with you regardless of how angry I am at you. ’ There’s no one more capable of getting under her skin than Barney Barton --- it had been the case when they’d met at court and it was even more the case now that they knew each other intimately well and there were greater stakes on the line. Every time Barney goes and does something that betrays Rebecca’s trust, it’s not only him that she’s betrayed by, but herself, too, sent into a tailspin of doubt, wondering whether she had been stupid to believe that she could make this work with Barney. One thing Rebecca hasn’t had to worry about in her life, is doubting herself, but now there was plenty of that to go around with Barney a crucial part of her life. ‘ So don’t you worry about me. Worry about yourself and how you’re going to explain yourself this time. Because I am sick of you making light of your promises, and making a trusting fool out of me. ’

‘ yeah ? what kind of thoughts ? ’ said absently as she thumbs through a stack of witness reports that never should have left her desk, strictly speaking. she does have the mind to reach across to barney, giving his thigh a good, acknowledging squeeze, but for the most part remains entrapped in her work, the tone of his words not quite enough to set of any alarm bells, though the words themselves may make more of an impact if she were to properly tune in.

‘ i can’t be happy if she’s not. ’ // okay but rebecca overhearing barney saying this, sent by @bokketo .
Rebecca can hear the muffled sounds of Barney talking on the phone, out on the fire escape, despite the evening nearing and the temperature dropping. She quietly appreciates his back profile, hunched over the railing, jacket sitting so flatteringly on his frame that it looked tailor made. She wouldn’t be surprised if it was. The only reason she’s near enough to hear the next part of his conversation is because she’s over there by the window watering her --- their --- pot plants. She’s deep in her own thoughts when her brain peripherally picks up that one sentence --- I can’t be happy if she’s not --- and she freezes with the sudden eruption of emotion inside her. Like someone had set off a party popper of butterflies in her stomach, only for them to sink immediately to the pit of it. She sets the watering can down there on the ledge, and moves away before she can overhear more of the conversation that was clearly not meant for her to hear.
At this stage in their relationship --- it was a relationship, no matter what they were or weren’t calling it --- she was fairly certain that Barney liked her. Loved her, even, though she couldn’t be sure whether he was falling into it . . . the way that she was with him. She was falling in love with him, and despite their trifling arguments, it was an easy enough thing to do. There must have been something about his core intentions, true values, that shone through the layers of assholery because something in her had sensed it, and she’d taken the time to peel it all back, and she was stunned, impressed, by what she found. Barney had a big heart, and it was in the right place, but he, himself, was the product of being in the wrong place, at the wrong time, for his entire life. Maybe even since the day he was born. Falling in love with Barney was easy, but continuing to love him as he existed within the world he had created for himself was difficult, and scary, and the problem had come up a few nights ago when Rebecca’s colleague had sent her a photo of Barney getting out of the car of a notorious security head honcho on the FBI’s watch list.
Rebecca had, admittedly, lost her cool a little too early, and she probably could have addressed the matter more calmly, but Barney has always had a knack for dissolving her composure and practiced diplomacies, so of course it had resulted in an explosive argument with Rebecca reminding Barney that he wasn’t supposed to be dealing on that side of the law anymore. They had made nice since then, though not as solid as they could have been and Rebecca wasn’t entirely sure what Barney was doing about the situation, though the conversation he was having outside implied that something was in the works.
It matters. It makes a world of difference. That her happiness is important to him. It’s yet another reminder to Rebecca to keep stripping back the surface that Barney presents, because the man beneath it will never disappoint her.
When Barney finally comes back inside, their oven made dinner is two minutes away from being done, the apartment is nicely heated, and Rebecca sidles up to him to give him a lingering hug, tight enough to carry them out of dangerous waters and onto steady ground. ‘ We’ve got this, ’ she promises, muffled, into his neck.
