Los Chikos del Maíz el grupo más representativo del Hip - Hop español se presentará por primera vez en Argentina en el marco de su gira “Yes Future Tour 2023”

Los Chikos Del Maíz es un grupo valenciano formado en el año 2004 por El Nega, Tony El Sucio y DJ Bokah.

Considerados el principal referente del hip – hop político español, irreverentes hasta la médula, hacen de la incorrección política su bandera y del hip hop combativo y militante su seña de identidad.

Su nombre proviene de uno de los relatos titulado “Los chicos del maíz” (Children of the Corn) que forma parte del libro de compilación de relatos cortos El umbral de la noche (Night Shift) escrito en 1977 por Stephen King.

Sus canciones han atraído la atención, tanto de jóvenes que se identifican con ideologías de izquierdas, como de jóvenes que no lo hacen, esto debido a sus letras ácidas, en las que el sarcasmo se entrelaza con las referencias literarias, cinematográficas, políticas y de la cultura popular abordan temas como la monarquía, la crítica social, la desocupación y  la actualidad de la escena hip hop en España.

Acontecimientos llamativos en su carrera, que hicieron que la popularidad de la banda se incremente en toda España;

En el año 2010 se proponían dar un concierto en un festival en Sevilla con motivo del aniversario de la II República, y el Partido Popular (PP) de la ciudad, y la Asociación de Víctimas del Terrorismo (AVT) denunciaron al grupo por enaltecimiento del terrorismo y pidieron al Ayuntamiento de Sevilla que prohibiese el concierto justificando la denuncia basándose en las letras de las canciones “Trabajador@s”, “A d10s le pido” y “Spain is different”, asociándolos al “pro-terrorismo”.

Esto llevó a que muchos medios españoles se hicieran eco de la noticia cómo Intereconomía TV, COPE o Libertad Digital, Antena3, las portadas de ABC y La Razón de Sevilla.

A esto Los Chikos del Maíz publicaron un manifiesto en el que declaraban que ellos en todo momento han condenado las acciones armadas de ETA, y que se trataba simplemente de humor negro. Finalmente, el juez de la Audiencia Nacional optó por archivar la denuncia.

C Tangana en su mixtape “10/15” incluye el tema “Nada”, que es una tiradera a Los Chikos del Maíz con quienes ya había tenido algunas diferencias anteriormente. Esta tiradera tomó tal repercusión que en España hasta algunos políticos expresaron su apoyo a uno u otro lado.

En definitiva, Los Chikos del Maíz van más allá de ser un grupo contestatario al uso que es odiado por la derecha, de una u otra manera se han convertido por méritos propios en el altavoz de esa generación perdida que por primera vez vivirá en peores condiciones que sus padres, de esa masa de precarios sin futuro que clama por una vivienda digna y denuncia la tiranía de los bancos y los mercados.
