What is a body corporate Victoria?
In Victoria, Australia, a body corporate refers to a legal entity created to manage and administer the common areas and shared facilities of a multi-unit development, such as apartments or townhouses. It is also known as an owners corporation or strata corporation in other jurisdictions.
Tumblr media
A body corporate is formed when multiple individuals or entities own separate lots or units within a larger property. The body corporate is responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, and management of common areas, including shared amenities like parking lots, gardens, lobbies, swimming pools, or elevators. Its main purpose is to ensure that the property is well-maintained and that the interests of all owners or unit holders are protected.
The body corporate is governed by a set of rules, known as by-laws, which outline the rights and obligations of the owners or unit holders. These rules cover issues such as property maintenance, noise restrictions, pet policies, and dispute resolution procedures.
Each owner or unit holder within the development is a member of the body corporate and is required to contribute to the costs associated with the management and maintenance of the common areas. These costs are typically shared through regular levies or fees paid by each member.
In Victoria, the rights and responsibilities of body corporate members are governed by the Owners Corporation Act 2006 and the Owners Corporation Regulations 2018. These laws provide a framework for the establishment, operation, and governance of body corporates in the state.
What is the purpose of a body corporate?
The purpose of a body corporate, also known as an owners corporation or strata corporation, is to manage and administer the common areas and shared facilities of a multi-unit development. Here are the key purposes of a body corporate:
Property Maintenance: One of the primary purposes of a body corporate is to ensure that the common areas and shared facilities within a multi-unit development are properly maintained. This includes tasks such as cleaning, landscaping, repairs, and regular maintenance to keep the property in good condition.
Financial Management: The body corporate manages the financial aspects of the development. It collects fees or levies from the owners or unit holders to fund the maintenance, repairs, insurance, and other expenses associated with the common areas. It is responsible for budgeting, accounting, and financial record-keeping to ensure transparency and effective management of funds.
Rule Enforcement: The body corporate establishes and enforces rules and by-laws that govern the conduct and use of the property. These rules may cover issues such as noise restrictions, pet policies, parking regulations, and the use of common facilities. By enforcing these rules, the body corporate helps to maintain a harmonious living environment and protect the rights and interests of all owners or unit holders.
Dispute Resolution: In situations where conflicts or disputes arise between owners or unit holders, the body corporate plays a role in facilitating resolution. It may provide a formal process for addressing disputes and mediating disagreements among residents, helping to maintain a peaceful and cooperative community.
Representation and Advocacy: The body corporate represents the collective interests of the owners or unit holders. It acts as a unified voice in dealing with external parties, such as local authorities, service providers, and contractors. It may negotiate contracts, seek cost-effective services, and advocate for the best interests of the community as a whole.
Overall, the purpose of a body corporate is to ensure the efficient management, maintenance, and preservation of the common areas and shared facilities within a multi-unit development. It promotes a sense of community, protects property values, and provides a framework for effective governance and decision-making.

your turn. pride. your guys. what do they do.
habits, customs, little details. i want to know All
Okay after half a fuckin month of forgetting about this, here we go
In general my approach to Queer Shit in my worldbuilding here is that the "norm" of cis/het/etc still Exists, but there is a bit less overt discrimination against queer ppl as there is in our world, things like platonic marriage and polyamory are a bit less "niche," etc, and a violent approach to queer ppl is generally considered to be fuckin stupid
Different communities celebrate pride at different times of their local year, and what exactly they're celebrating differs with it. The core ofc is Queer Identity, but the focus besides varies: community, acceptance, love, perseverence, history. The pride celebrated by Tenno and their allied factions takes place during early summer by Earth timekeeping (the timekeeping all Tenno relays use and various allied colonies at the v least keep track of besides their own local time) and has an emphasis on community and diversity, whereas for example the Ostron observe the Tenno pride as a smaller event and have their own bigger one during March.
As for other factions:
The Corpus celebrate pride at the same time as the tenno for Relevance but it's almost entirely a corporate thing. A lot of Corpus defectors are shocked to learn that outside of their birth faction, pride isn't in fact about how much your superiors pretend to care about your feelings, or putting rainbow flags on the orb mothers patrolling the Vallis.
The Grineer just…don't. At all. As a society they don't really have a concept of queer identity in general, and pride is just a foreign culture thing even to those who defect. Some end up picking it up once allied with the Tenno, others remain indifferent.
Some of the Orokin had the same rainbow capitalism approach that the Corpus have since perfected, while others looked upon the pride celebrations with disdain, but seldom did any of them participate. What did non-Orokin have to be proud of? What identity was there for them to celebrate? Please, it's ridiculous.
You know the big banners hung up on Tenno relays? Some of those get swapped for pride flags for the celebration. Marches are still a thing, space and peace permitting, but not the end all, be all: the core event differs from culture to culture and location to location. Marches yes, but also picnics, feasts, dances, faires, whatever you could think of. The throughline is the pride flags, the celebration of queerness, and community
It takes ppl a bit of getting used to, to see warframes out and about during pride celebrations. What are the war machines doing participating in pride? But as more of them wake, as they become more of a common sight, as the truth about the Tenno eventually spreads among their allies, ppl get more used to them. Not just at pride, but any festival in general
Also I'm canonising my pride syandanas. Warframes wearing decorative armour and cloth in the colours of pride flags. Body paint is also popular among them. By nature most of them refuse to settle for small accessories, at the v least outside of combat
The first pride the group experience post-Awakening comes before TNW still so it's only Kohlrabi, Alden, Keiko, Lanius, and ofc Ordis at the time. The kids are all for it, especially Kohlrabi, and Lanius is really excited to take them down to Strata Relay about it to meet up with Hako and see the festivities kick off for the month, while Alden is more subdued about it (he's too busy repressing happy memories from his old life to really get excited)
The second one is post-TNW and once everyone is already around :)
Okay this is where i devolve into more disconnected points
North…forgot, that pride is a thing, during their time in Duviri, and is eventually reminded of it. They've always viewed themself as genderless, but haven't thought about their identity beyond that since before the Zariman, having had no care for it as a kid and then no spare brainspace as a prisoner in their own world. It's only after getting out and having the peace to Think that they settle into "aroace" and it makes their first pride in their remembered life exciting for them
Alden and Kodiak celebrated pride with their rebel group back in the day, about a halfway split between queer stuff and community. Once they both start reconciling with their past properly, they have traditions and stories they can bring along into the present. Alden's second pride as a conscious warframe is a lot better than his first
The homebase of Darius and his family (technically a clan dojo but it is never referred to as such for Reasons) is decked out in flags for pride and every year there's a few they forget to take down. Darius is gay as hell and loves pride and is very very excited about it while Tekla's identity is largely "do not perceive me" but they like pride nonetheless bc of the emphasis on being comfortable with who you are, where you are. Mae is the no1 project leader for decorating
Okay this is where i ran out of steam, I hope this is sufficient for now D:

Body Corporate Cleaning Bentleigh
Body corporate cleaning Bentleigh is a great way to ensure that your office space looks its best. They can provide a wide range of services, including spot cleaning and water damage restoration.
Communal areas with multiple tenants need to be cleaned regularly, as do other high-traffic spaces. These areas should also be stocked with supplies, such as paper towels, soaps and other consumables. To know more about Body Corporate Cleaning, visit the Roche Cleaning Solutions website or call 0415615170.
Communal areas can play an important role in a building's functionality. They can help residents connect and share information and knowledge while also facilitating relaxation and socializing. They can help people from different cultures and backgrounds get to know each other. These spaces can also increase a building's productivity as workers from different groups can meet up to work together on projects and brainstorming ideas. A company with a body corporate cleaning Bentleigh can ensure that these areas are clean and well-maintained. Their services can include one-time or regular cleaning and maintenance, as well as water damage restoration. They may also be able to offer tips for maintaining a clean and safe space. These services can be a big help for businesses in the Melbourne area.
A clean office can be a huge benefit to your business. It can increase productivity and help your employees work more efficiently, and it can also keep customers happy. A dirty workplace can be detrimental to your business, and it can even impact your reputation. Roche Cleaning Solutions can provide a range of services that can help your business stay clean and well-maintained. They can handle regular office cleaning or one-off cleans, and they can also offer water damage restoration services if your office gets damaged by floodwaters.
If your business has an industrial, commercial or office space, you should consider hiring a professional cleaning company to keep it up to date and tidy. A good company will have a variety of services to choose from, including cleaning carpets and upholstery, and they can also offer kitchen and restroom cleaning. They can also help you with a variety of other tasks, such as maintaining a consistent inventory of paper products and utensils in the workplace.
Strata property is a type of property ownership where owners share common areas (such as driveways and gardens) with other residents in the building. This is often found in apartment complexes, townhouses, duplexes, and retirement villages.
Generally, the owner of the lot is also a member of the body corporate of the property – which oversees the day-to-day affairs and responsibilities of the property. They pay Strata levies to contribute towards the costs of maintaining, repairing, and operating the property.
This is a complex area of compliance and legal requirements, so many owners’ corporation’s enlist the services of a professional management company to handle these tasks.
Strata title properties can be quite appealing to buyers as there are many benefits to owning a unit or lot within a building that shares the common ground with other owners in the community. These include shared cost benefits for things like painting and upkeep of the grounds. Moreover, it can be very easy to get finance for these properties since lending policies are favourable for this type of property. To know more about Body Corporate Cleaning, visit the Roche Cleaning Solutions website or call 0415615170.
The team at Roche cleaning services knows a thing or two about keeping a home clean. They provide a variety of services from deep cleaning to carpet cleaning. They can also assist with home improvement projects like re-tiling bathrooms and repairing the kitchen counters. A good company will also have customer service representatives on hand to answer any questions you may have. It's also important to make sure the team you hire has all the necessary equipment and supplies to do the job right. One of the easiest ways to find a good cleaning company is to ask friends and family if they have ever used one in the past. Then you can compare prices and read reviews. The next step is to book an appointment online or over the phone. After all, you want to be sure that the cleaners are as efficient as possible and won't leave your property looking like it just walked out of a hurricane.

[1.0.0] Executive Summary
At 9:41 PM CST on July 4th, 2007, the Permian Basin Superorganism Natural Preserve (known colloquially as the “Mystery Flesh Pit National Park”) experienced a catastrophic disaster which resulted in over 750 fatalities, and over 1,800 major injuries. In the weeks following the incident, approximately 18,000 individuals from the surrounding communities sought medical and psychological treatment for ailments including breathing problems, chest pains, shortness of breath, nausea, birth defects, hallucinations, depression, anxiety, internal bleeding, sore throat, and headaches as a direct result of contact with gastric ejecta which had been introduced to the atmosphere.
Investigators have concluded that this disaster was chiefly characterized by a premature geobiological consumption event caused by the catastrophic failure of critical park infrastructure to constrain and limit the gastric, motor and neurological actions of the Permian Basin Superorganism. Investigators have concluded that the failure of these critical safety measures are the direct result of negligent practices by the primary site operations contractor Anodyne Deep Earth Mining, a subsidiary of Anodyne, Inc. The U.S. Commission on Geobiological Resources & Public Safety (CGR) released its first report on the Permian Basin Superorganism Disaster in August 2007 (“the Interim Report”), which highlighted technical findings and safety system deficiencies. The report issued recommendations to Anodyne, Inc.;  the city of Gumption, Texas; the State of Texas; the U.S.  Department of the Interior; the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; the Federal Emergency Management Agency; the U.S. Food & Drug Administration; and the U.S. Department of Energy. As of April 2008, these groups have made progress in implementing the recommendations to improve the regulatory requirements for geobiological resource extraction, geobiological resource containment, and general public safety as it relates to the Permian Basin Superorganism.
[2.1.0] Anodyne Background
Anodyne was originally founded as the Anchor Mineral Co. in 1923. In 1958, the Anchor Mineral Co. merged with Dynamic Equipment, LLC. to form a new company known as Anodyne Deep Earth Mining, later changed to Anodyne. Headquartered in Arlington, Texas, and prior to it’s 2008 restructuring, Anodyne Corporation was the twenty-third largest American company by revenue. Globally, Anodyne employed over 28,000 people. It operated seven major research, development and production facilities around the world, six of which were in the United States.
Anodyne filed for bankruptcy in late 2008, but ended it’s bankruptcy in February 2009 pursuant to a court-approved plan of reorganization. A new board of directors changed the name of Anodyne to the Permian Basin Recovery & Superorganism Containment Corporation, and emphasized reorganizing and liquidating certain operations and assets of the pre-bankruptcy Anodyne.
[2.2.0] Permian Basin Superorganism Background
The Permian Basin Superorganism (Immanis Colosseus, also known by the popular nomenclature of “Mystery Flesh Pit”) is a subterranean organism unique to modern biology, being the sole occupant of the Phylum Immanemqa. The organism was discovered by a pilot well drilling crew in 1973; later efforts were made to expose more of the organism through drilling and surface mining explosives.
The superorganism is chiefly characterized by its immense size, which is still a matter of geobiological debate. Surveys suggest that the organism may span many hundreds of miles beneath the permian basin horizontally, with scientists speculating that the organism may extend vertically into the upper mantle of the earth’s interior.
The complete anatomical layout and internal organization of the organism is unknown. Tissue samples suggest that the organism contains gastrointestinal, vascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, nervous, limbic and integumentary systems with remarkable similarity to mammal life, while also containing a variety of systems which have no direct analog and are not fully understood. The feeding cycle of the organism is poorly understood and believed to occur on a complex and long-term schedule of dormancy and feeding activity. It has been hypothesized that the superorganism derives caloric energy from subterranean hydrocarbon deposits, though the organism has been observed to digest and absorb organic matter.
The depth at which the organism extends into the surrounding rock strata indicates that the organism is several hundred thousand years old. It is unknown what the natural lifespan of the species is, or if the Permian Basin Superorganism represents a mature or developing example of the species.
[3.0.0] Incident Timeline
Start of relevant timeline.
10:29 AM July 4th – Unseasonably high rains force park administrators to cancel a July 4th Concert and Fireworks display scheduled to take place on the surface park grounds. Many visitors who had already purchased tickets to the event become upset, and a decision is made to extend the park hours until midnight for those who had purchased event tickets.
8:00 PM July 4th – Normal closing time for the national park. A typical shift change of reduced night staff in the control room takes place.
9:16 PM July 4th – Harvesting crews working in the western extremities of the organism set a new extraction record to meet a quota for bonuses in time for the holiday weekend.
9:30 PM July 4th – Control room operators initiate a routine system self-test and discover a relay fault error resulting from increased electrical demand from mining equipment and tourist infrastructure. A control room operator logs the fault and notifies an on-duty engineer.
9:41 PM July 4th – Water drainage from surface rain into the Entry Orifice begins to collect in the sand gullet. Drainage pumps are automatically activated by a sensor system but fail to initialize due to the relay fault. An emergency back-up pump running on a separate emergency circuit is automatically activated.
9:42 PM July 4th – A critical alarm in the control room alerts operators that the emergency water pump has seized and is inoperative. Under-lubrication of the pump’s impeller bushings resulted in corrosion due to the moist interior of the flesh pit environment.
9:48 PM July 4th – Technicians arrive at the primary pump station to discover the sand gullet almost completely submerged. Water begins to pour over the dorsal respiratory ridge and into bronchial bulbules. Control room operators divert power to hydraulic stent rams to brace for expected choke response.
9:51 PM July 4th – Technicians a repair the relay fault as control staff reset the park’s electrical grid. The grid is offline for 45 seconds. The automatic PA system does not notify guests as the system is scheduled to automatically shut down at the normal 8:00PM closing time. The temporary lapse of lighting causes many guests to become panicked and return to the main gantry lift at the lower visitor center.
9:52 PM July 4th – A choking action from the organism begins 31 seconds into the electrical reset. The main dorsal trunk violently flexes. Lack of power to hydraulic arming rams causes irreparable damage to several sections of internal infrastructure.
9:53 PM July 4th – As the electrical system finishes the reboot cycle, the dynamic hydraulic actuators supporting the lower visitor center overcorrect for stability, not accounting for the shift in the wall lining of the nexial cavity in which the visitor center facility is anchored. Two of the six structural supports are torn from their foundations which causes the facility to list 20deg off vertical. The base joint of the vertical entry gantry is bent beyond its design limit angle.
9:54 PM July 4th – The Master Alarm is tripped automatically. Surface facilities are notified as response teams are given the order to mobilize.
9:56 PM July 4th – Park rangers are dispatched to rescue groups of visitors trapped in partially collapsed tunnels and trails.
10:03 PM July 4th – Continued movement of the organism, combined with rainwater, causes one of the upper entry gantry supports to slip. An outbound elevator conducts an emergency stop stranding over two dozen visitors.
10:05 PM July 4th - Tremors registered as far away as the DFW metroplex.
10:06 PM July 4th - Soil liquefaction destabilizes surface facilities in and around the organism. Dilation anchors begin retracting to keep the entry orifice open.
10:12 PM July 4th - A master fail-safe is activated by the automated park management system. Twenty thousand liters of aconitine compound are injected into the superorganism via a distributed network of relay stations located throughout it’s known internal anatomy.
10:12 PM July 4th - Tremors and convulsions intensify as the entry gantry connection to the lower visitor center detaches completely. The lower visitor center begins to collapse downward into the nexial cavity.
10:12 PM July 4th - Peristaltic muscle action of the nexial cavity begins to exert substantial pressure on the outer structure of the lower visitor center facility. 10:15 PM July 4th - The prime labiod junction just west of the Septum Falls geobiological feature flexes into an open position, releasing a torrent of lactogastric chyma into the dorsal trunk. It is likely that this was a reaction to the aconitine injection.
10:16 PM July 4th - Peristaltic spasms force the caustic chyma slurry through the nexial cavity and up through the lower and upper moisture crops towards the surface orifice.
10:16 PM July 4th - Many guests attempting to flee the stalled elevator near the entry orifice attempt climbing out the upper moisture crop but are ultimately unsuccessful due to torrential rains causing the surfaces to become very slippery. Many end up falling back into the maw.
10:17 PM July 4th - The chyma slurry erupts from the surface orifice in a geyser several hundred meters in height. Large pieces of undigested organic matter crush several vehicles and damage windows.
10:19 PM July 4th - Following the several minute long ejecta event, a deep and incredibly loud roar erupts from the entry orifice as ground tremors intensify further. Large extremities begin surfacing through bedrock and soil approx. 30km-120km from the entry orifice.
10:25 PM July 4th - The acrid smell of the gastric ejecta can be detected as far as Odessa, TX.
10:26 PM July 4th - Two park service vehicles and a tour vehicle containing park service employees and several guests attempt to ascend through the entry orifice tube.
10:27 PM July 4th - Peristaltic action crushes one of the tour vehicles and sucks the other two vehicles back into the nexial cavity and down into a digestive organ. These vehicles are presumed destroyed. 10:58 PM July 4th - The pentagon is given authorization from the whitehouse to use nuclear force if necessary to prevent the organism from entering an active and/or ambulatory state.
11:02 PM July 4th - The on-site operations director within the lower visitor center control room initiates a final fail-safe measure in the form of the  [CONTINGENCY MEASURE].
11:02 PM July 4th - Master Event Log records successful spin-up of the [CONTINGENCY MEASURE].
11:05 PM July 4th - Lower visitor center structural integrity is critically compromised resulting in total collapse. 11:05 PM July 4th - Data connection with lower visitor center is severed.
11:13 PM July 4th - Spasms and motor action of the superorganism begins to noticeably subside. Response teams begin to descend into the surface orifice to attempt rescue operations. 11:19 PM July 4th - Response team encounters visitor group which had attempted escape from stalled elevator. Most are dead, the remainder are mortally wounded and partially digested due to caustic gastric ejecta.
11:42 PM July 4th - Radio contact established with ranger vehicle trapped within “Oyster’s Shame”. Due to ventricle closure, no feasible rescue strategy can be developed before complete mastication occurs.
11:56 PM July 4th - Response team confirms that [CONTINGENCY MEASURE] and associated facility are still intact and operating.
11:58 PM July 4th - Texas Gov. Rick Perry formally declares a state of emergency for Gumption county.
12:22 AM July 5th - Response teams route data/power umbilical to new basecamp in [CONTINGENCY MEASURE] facility.
12:35 AM July 5th - Three inter-pit lifeforms are identified as having been ejected onto the surface. Fifteen visitors are injured and seven are hunted by inter-pit lifeforms during panicked evacuation of surface resort.
12:41 AM July 5th - Park staff manage to kill the three large lifeforms.
1:02 AM July 5th - National Guard helicopters begin delivering supplies and personnel to aid in site containment. 1:58 AM July 5th - Field hospital is constructed to care for wounded visitors and staff.
2:37 AM July 5th - Initial damage surveys report catastrophic destruction of internal park infrastructure. Pit geobiology has dramatically changed in hazard level.
3:00 AM July 5th - Emergency teleconference of Anodyne executive leadership. National parks director and Secretary of the Interior are present.
3:12 AM July 5th - Executive decision is made to initiate FEMA response and assemble a task force for containing superorganism.
4:00 AM July 5th - Media helicopters and vehicles begin to report on the scope of disaster. 4:39 AM July 5th - Base camp technicians begin to spin-down [CONTINGENCY MEASURE]. Large fractures due to inertial stress have appeared on mineral components. Engineers advise against re-initializing [CONTINGENCY MEASURE] until mineral components can be replaced or repaired.

3:51 PM July 5th - Radio transmission from trapped ranger vehicle ceases. Many speculate that other small groups of visitors and staff are still trapped.
End of relevant timeline.
[4.0.0] Final Investigation Report
The following Final Investigation Report addresses additional investigation findings not covered in the previous report, including analysis of (1) the Anodyne organization, emergency response, and safety culture; (2) industry disaster response standards; (3) structural integrity standards; and (4) effective performance of “mystic” contingency measures.
[4.1.0] Technical findings
This report highlights the following technical findings. (An in-depth discussion appears in the Interim Report)
[4.1.1] The electrical distribution scheme for the interior operations of the Permian Basin Superorganism Nature Preserve was modeled on a typical supply/load grid layout often found in mines, with power provided by a gas-fired plant located within the surface support compound. Unlike typical mining power distribution networks, the power load was split with the facilities involved in the tourism and natural preservation operations within the organism. This split-demand yielded a load fluctuating from 33kV to 60kV depending on a range of factors from resource extraction output, visitor throughput, hydrostatic and barometric fluctuations within the organism, and the ambient blood pressure of the organism. This unorthodox load distribution scheme required careful demand oversight and was subject to failure if operated outside of design load specifications. Such a failure occurred on July 4th, 2007 when operators increased electrical demand beyond design load specifications by both extending resource extraction operations while simultaneously increasing visitor throughput loads on trail infrastructures.
Tumblr media
[4.1.2] Hydrochloric corrosion is common in geobiological resource extraction, where naturally occurring hydrochloric compounds react with steel equipment. Process variables that affect corrosion rates include the total hydrochloric content of the enzyme secretions, flow conditions, application of TUMS industrial organic corrosion inhibitor salve, and the system temperature and humidity. Virtually all geobiological operations equipment is subject to this type of corrosion, and requires routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure that metallic and non-metallic corrosion prone surfaces are operating at design strength. The investigation has concluded that the corrosion found within the primary impeller bushings within the Emergency Drainage Pumps was caused by Hydrochloric corrosion due to poor maintenance.
[4.1.3] Foundations and other anchor support structures within the Permian Basin Superorganism are critical components of park infrastructure which require careful planning and construction oversight. Under nominal conditions, anchor sites are selected by engineers to meet design load specifications with consultation from venteriobiologists for minimum anatomical disturbance. Rigid geobiological strata such as bone and dense cartilage are most often selected for load-bearing anchor points for their relative stability and similarity to conventional load-bearing strata such as rock. However, many locations within the Permian Basin Superorganism are primarily characterised by dense compositions of soft tissues requiring novel anchoring solutions. Several anchors within the primary entry tube utilize a cleat-based stent system which engages the entry tube muscle walls. These forces are equalized by the use of circular retention trusses which, when combined with vibration dampening actuators, form a rigid support assembly upon which fixed components such as the entry gantry may be affixed. Peristaltic action of a muscle tube has the potential to rotate a circular cleat sent frame by up to 90deg, eliminating the retaining capabilities of the frame. It is for this reason that design specification standards call for the installation of either rigid or tensile support members between consecutive retaining frames. In cases such as within the entry tube, tensile cables were selected to provide this support. These cables are subject to corrosion and must be routinely inspected in order to ensure that they meet minimum design load specifications. The investigation has concluded that the cables installed on the entry tube retaining frame system were improperly maintained and failed due to corrosive weakening of the cable members.
Tumblr media
[4.1.4] The use of a previously-untested contingency measure by operators, while not the primary inciting incident of the disaster, is a prime contributor to the outstanding collateral damage. A network of sensor stations embedded throughout the Permian Basin Superorganism had acted as a distributed sensory system, intended by park planners to provide a method for observing large-scale changes to the organisms condition. As an experimental contingency measure, each station was outfitted with a mechanism capable of injecting up to 15L of a concentrated aconitine solution. Aconitine is commonly used as an acute toxin for large mammals such as whales and was chosen for its theoretical effectiveness on key muscle groups within the organism. Park planners were under the assumption that a rapid injection of large volumes of aconitine would act as a sedative agent without inducing tissue death beyond the immediate injection sites. The investigation has concluded that this injection failsafe was directly responsible for escalating the motor response of the organism to levels beyond the design load strength of critical park infrastructure. The investigation has also concluded that the aconotine injection failsafe was directly responsible for causing the toxic “shock” response within the organism which resulted in a Gastric Ejecta Event.
Tumblr media
[4.1.5] The [CONTINGENCY MEASURE] is hypothesized to function by utilizing a series of standing harmonic and ultrasonic wavelengths which have been observed to affect the overall behavior of the Permian Basin Superorganism. These waves are created by applying a 15MHz mechanical percussion to the face of an excavated large quartz crystal (also known as “Mystic Artifacts #15, #21 and #22”). Once struck, the unique properties of the relic propagate the wave outward and into the surrounding anatomy of the Permian Basin Organism. When placed upon a rapidly rotating turntable, the effect can be multiplied and oriented allowing a high degree of theoretical influence over the organism. This contingency measure was activated only once and demonstrated the potential application this technology may have in future containment measures. However, at the time of this investigation, no additional  relics  have been located intact. Without this key assembly component, the CGR does not recommend additional experimental uses of the [CONTINGENCY MEASURE].
[4.2.0] Organizational Findings
[4.2.1] Anodyne did not effectively implement internal recommendations to help prevent structural failures to hydrochloric corrosion. In the 8 years prior to the incident, a small number of Anodyne personnel with knowledge and understanding of venteriobiology recommended on several occasions either a one-time inspection of every component within the primary inter-park infrastructure system - known as a 100 percent component inspection - or an upgrade of the material of construction of these key infrastructure components. The recommendations were not implemented effectively, and many key structural and mechanical components remained in service until failure on July 4th, 2007. [4.2.2] Anodyne failed to perform internally recommended 100 percent component inspections. Anodyne metallurgists released a formal report dated September 30, 2004 (nearly 3 years before the incident), titled Updated Inspection Strategies for Preventing Hydrochloric Corrosion Failures in Critical Systems. The investigation has concluded that these recommendations were not properly implemented.
[4.2.3] The CGR identified several contributing causes of the July 5th, 2007, incident relating to the safety culture at Anodyne:
Decision making that encourages continued operation of tourism and resource extraction operations despite hazardous working conditions.
Reluctance among employees to use their Stop Work Authority. Recent safety culture surveys performed within resource extraction sites indicate that employees had become less willing to use their Stop Work Authority between 2003 and 2006; and
Substandard equipment maintenance practices. Those same surveys indicate that Anodyne employees saw increased problems in how the internal operations infrastructure maintained its equipment between 2003 and 2006.
[4.2.4] Anodyne did not effectively identify in the Incident Command structure the damage mechanisms that could have caused the failures on the night of the incident. The OSHA Hazardous Operations and Emergency Response (HAZOPER) standard states that the Incident Commander “Shall identify, to the extent possible, all hazardous conditions present.” in an emergency response situation. However, the appropriate technical expertise necessary for identification was not effectively consulted in the Incident Command Structure on July 5th, 2007. This lack of knowledge of all potential causes of the incident led the Incident Commander to direct emergency responders to take actions that may have ultimately exacerbated the hazard condition and put many Park Service personnel, Anodyne personnel, as well as civilian visitors, in harm’s way. It also led the Incident Commander to limit the “hazard zone” to a small area that did not consider the possibility of a Gastric Ejecta Event. When the Gastric Ejecta Event occurred, personnel and emergency equipment positioned in the “safe zone” were engulfed in the volume of caustic ejecta.
[5.1.0] Incident Conclusions
[5.1.1] The CGR found that the failure of this incident is indicative of a fragmented hazard management approach that placed the responsibility to implement safety recommendations on stakeholders which stood to benefit from decreased oversight while also incurring financial loss for any safety oversight restrictions placed. Consequences of this cultural attitude surrounding the tourism and resource extraction operations within the Permian Basin Superorganism led to the severe underestimation of the capabilities of the organism as well as the capabilities of the systems designed to limit the hazards posed by the organism. [5.1.2] The use of concentrated aconitine, without prior study or approval, as a fail-safe directly triggered a reactionary response from the organism which led to the deaths of over 750 individuals.
[5.1.3] The use of the [CONTINGENCY MEASURE], while effective at “pacifying” the organism, was similarly employed without prior substantial testing or approval. This lack of communication from Anodyne regarding the specifics, theory of operation, and even existence of the artifacts , which are essential components within the [CONTINGENCY MEASURE], directly led to the unsafe, high-RPM operation which fractured the mineral components of the [CONTINGENCY MEASURE].
[5.2.0] General Recommendations
[5.2.1] The CGR, with full support from the U.S. Department of the Interior, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the National Park Service, has made the discretionary recommendation to not pursue additional commercial development within or adjacent to the boundaries of the Permian Basin Superorganism.
[5.2.2] In the interest of continuing the present containment operations while also ensuring readiness in the event of a future geobiological action event, the CGR has developed a comprehensive program of monitoring and containment. This program is divided into a series of objectives, intended to better mitigate the hazard presented by the existence of the Permian Basin Superorganism. [5.2.3] Improve the communication of geobiological-hazard science for use in decision and policy making.
Support the use of geobiological-hazard science in risk reduction with engineering, environmental science, spiritual and social sciences.
Improve understanding among venteriobiologists, engineers, and others of numerical simulation of organism ground activity as opposed to the use of empirical ground-motion-prediction equations.
Improve understanding of the benefits of early warning systems.
Educate about organism movement patterns and operational activity forecasts.
[5.2.4] Advance basic knowledge of geobiological action event hazards and inform actions to reduce the risk of the organism becoming non-dormant
Develop a new method to estimate stimulus-response outcomes in interactions with the Permian Basin Superorganism without reliance on expert opinion, proprietary computer models, or wholly “mystic” ritual methods without demonstrated patterns of reliability.
Educate and facilitate local containment capabilities to deal with fauna and other life forms which are native to the organism’s interior anatomy.
Develop methods for production and administration of appropriate sedative measures to chemically induce a comatose state of inactivity in the organism.
Where it is absolutely necessary for personnel to descend into the organism, develop methods to reduce the possibility of individuals becoming trapped.
Establish a perimeter area surrounding the Incident Site to protect the health and safety of the public from additional fauna incursions or ejecta events.
[5.3.0] Containment Recommendations
[5.3.1] A thorough plan for containment of the organism has been devised by a joint containment task force comprised of geobiologists, venteriobiologists, seismologists, medical experts, engineers from various disciplines, land management specialists, ecclesiastical personnel, as well as representatives from private industry. This proposed containment procedure integrates a variety of strategies intended to prolong the dormancy of the Permian Basin Superorganism while simultaneously reducing the likelihood of a future geobiological action event.
Tumblr media
The taskforce has recommended the establishment of a >3km restricted access zone surrounding the Entry Orifice defined by a reinforced and patrolled barrier. Signs and other warning devices should be installed to clearly inform the public of the hazard(s) presented by the containment operations and the Superorganism itself. Where possible, the taskforce has recommended that any material necessary for the containment operations be produced on-site so as to minimize logistic dependency on remote facilities.
Tumblr media
The recommended multi-strategy containment plan is outlined as follows:
All efforts should be made to maintain a steady introduction of high-potency anesthetic to the uppermost dermal anatomy of the organism. This is the foremost measure for reducing the capability of the Superorganism to sense and perceive human activity.
At a similar volume to high-potency anesthetics, the introduction of inorganic phosphates directly into the muscles of the Superorganism is an essential strategy designed to delay and fatigue the motor response of the organism.
Where possible, the introduction of acidic compounds into bone structures will further weaken the overall response capability of the Superorganism in the event that other containment precautions fail. Special care should be taken to ensure that primary structural members of the organism’s skeletal system are not weakened, however, as such a measure could potentially damage critical infrastructure. NOTE: As of rev. 18.3 of this document, the Permian Basin Recovery & Superorganism Containment Corporation has been granted a temporary permit for the continued extraction of bone material and amniotic fluid ballast for research and limited commercial purposes.
The taskforce has recommended measures which would induce a state of mild hypoxia in the Superorganism through the replacement of oxygen-rich air with carbon dioxide-rich air within the respiratory systems of the organism. In addition, by venting plant exhaust from the surface containment facility directly into the organism, this plan remains in compliance with standing EPA regulations on emissions within natural preserves.
The extraction of nutrient-rich material from within the Superorganism’s gastric systems is an additional preventative step recommended by the task force to weaken the response capability of the organism. In order to prevent a hunger response, the task force has recommended displacing the volume of nutrient-rich material with that of an inert material such as gravel or rock. NOTE: As of rev. 2.5 of this document, materials and objects harvested from the Retrocognitive Material Gestation Organs (A.K.A. “Gift Gardens”) will continue at a greatly reduced capacity for the exclusive purpose of research. All such objects shall be stored in a designated and secure off-site facility.
[6.0.0] Conclusion
The CGR concludes its recommendations and report with broad advocacy for any such program(s) which aim to better prepare physical as well as social and spiritual infrastructure for the inevitability of the Permian Basin Superorganism emerging from dormancy and becoming completely active and ambulatory. The measures and methods described within these recommendations are temporary in their effectiveness while representing the fullest extent of human capability to impact the Permian Basin Superorganism. Future studies and capabilities may yield a greater degree of readiness in matters concerning the survivability of a societal encounter with an active and ambulatory Immanis Colosseus, but it is unrealistic to believe that mankind will be able to seriously damage or eliminate such an organism.
Inhabitants of the western hemisphere, within the U.S. and Abroad, must come to understand the losses each and every one of us will face, and how those impacts will harm the quality of life we enjoy in this unique part of the world.
[End of Document]
This document represents an executive overview of the now-infamous July 2007 disaster which permanently closed the Mystery Flesh Pit National Park. Though the initial hazard and containment response was praised by many for it’s quick and decisive action, many have criticized the government for continuing to allow the Permian Basin Recovery & Superorganism Containment Corporation (Formerly Anodyne, Inc.) a commercial stake in the containment efforts.

The Generation Gap
Baby boomers were the 1st post war generation to forge a radically different  relationship with their parents to the one that most had experienced for generations.
Over the last 75 years, independence of thought and action have largely replaced parental and teacher discipline. Together with ever decreasing adherence to religious practices(other than radical fanatics), the explosion of divorces, single parenthood and sexual liberation have combined to created many fractured and broken homes;  in short, in many cases the disintegration of the family unit in many parts of the world.
Each generation of parents has had to adapt to a steadily changing relationship with their children that often breaks down because of a lack of understanding, respect and communication. In recent years the speed with which society has been overcome with IT has made the disparity of thought and lifestyles ever more pronounced and distant between the generations.
Grandparents and Parents alike can barely cope with the onslaught and diversity of social media and are relative dinosaurs in the  world of IT. Peer groups were always central to  different strata’s and age groups in society but today have assumed pole position in human relationships. As “Generation X to Millennials through to Alphas”  increasingly communicate by smartphone and have less and less need to spend time with their parents or indeed forge relationships other than online, the desire not to compromise with others is becoming a feature of modern human relationships.
Compromise has always been central to keeping the peace; whether between partners, communities, or national governments. From the rise of the trade unions to the "me too" movement, those who seek to achieve their objectives have tended to become more hostile to those who do not follow their philosophy or lifestyle choices. This has often led to conflict, violence and war.Ongoing and often deteriorating historic  tribal rivalries have further challenged peaceful community relations or led to war. The United Nations and  almost all Religious bodies  have achieved  little in preventing rivalries between people of  all colors and creeds from settling their differences as they continue to conflict.
In addition, the widening gap between the "haves and have nots" continues to increase apace throughout the world. Leaders so often win elections by promising equality and equal opportunity but as is so visible in the USA from Obama's "Yes we can" to Biden's "bringing people together" mantras neither has so far  yielded many concrete results.
How then can the family and the world make progress in these fields which will determine the future of human relationships?
Education: Whereas a general education has over the past 100 years been extended to almost everyone living in the West and Asian countries, vast numbers of young people are not equipped at any stage of their education to practice the mainstays of a civil society. Parental and teacher  influence and discipline has almost evaporated and professional and governing  authorities are often held in contempt or simply ignored. Trust between groups is in short supply. Communication skills must become one of the highest educational priorities.
Regulation : Social responsibility: The IT giants  are fast replacing the church  in holding the compass to moral values and behaviour and must be made aware and accountable as to  the vast influence they have on modern society; defined regulation and governmental scrutiny must be stepped up in  every country they operate in which  need  to reflect current social trends and lifestyle choices.
Speed up reform: of  Government regulations  and sections of the law to reflect the current pace of life and to address citizens day to day concerns instead of just paying lip service to them .Red tape must be cut as it is becoming ever more intrusive and time consuming whilst stifling human endeavour as it  increasingly dominates  life from the speed of seeking justice through the courts, to corporate governance to name but two.
Communication: Senior citizens should be taught modern communication skills and the  terminology used by the young so as to improve communication  between the generations. The young need to be more aware of the process of change bought on by age and the needs of their elders. Reinventing the art of conversation at home and in the workplace would make a significant contribution to inter generational communication.
Addressing the challenges of modern life needs more than ever for governing bodies to be ahead of the curve, not behind it. Without advances in th way to communicate and understand each other, the advances of modern science will not necessarily result in a better quality of life, but just a faster one, where social skills become are ignored in favour of abject materialism and selfish personal advancement.

The Internet Messiah Has Arrived
by Thomas Easley via Big Think
Upon awakening this morning, and for no discernable reason, my first thought focused on religion, and why there is more disdain among the religious, of religions that are not their own, than there is of the devil in any religion. Such scorn seems an utter impossibility given that all religions proclaim by varying degree — to be purveyors of God’s love, goodness, devotion, sacrifice, truth, and wisdom.
I have no answer for this discrepancy, but the subject (however unlikely) brought to mind the ubiquitous world wide web — that raucous, under-construction, unconstrained, gargantuan international electric neighbourhood which has no religion, no expectation of a transformative messiah, and no God beyond the glory of electric energy.
The Beast Spins A Web The internet is a beast, uncivil by corporal standards, rudely honest in its capacity to include any idea the mind can think of — and any voice, no matter how small, can ring loud in the internet’s ear.
The internet is not a country; it is not a belief system; it is not a government. It belongs to everyone, and no one, and by virtue of its existence, the internet has broken the bond of routine social contracts, conditioning our prejudiced perception of evolution and God. We are now on the path to a new human, our more ethereal counterpart…the Electro Sapien or e-sapien.
How the future supremacy of the Electro Sapien will play out is speculative, at best. Competing themes on how we came to be homo sapien, “modern man,” are still lost in interpretation. What we can infer, by way of all theories on the origin of the homo sapien — from the Aquatic Ape theory to unknown breakaway members of some homo antecessor-group, or a Homo Heidelbergensis / Homo Sapien tryst — is that many possibilities existed, and one survived.
Likewise, with over seven billion human beings living today, it is rational to assume that small, pre-Electro Sapien groups or types, directed by the species’ self-organisation, have begun to break away from the whole.
To establish who these new electro-types are, and why they will survive to establish the next level of species’ expansion, involves the discomfort of disputing or questioning the future validity of traditional interpretations of human purpose.
Purpose Of Life The human being, created by God, is made purposeful by living through a belief in God, and ascending to God’s embrace at death. A high percentage of the world’s religions proclaim this path of purpose, and for many, that path is further guaranteed by messianic intervention.
The human being, created by the laws or forces of nature, is made purposeful by living through a belief in knowledge, and ascending to an enlightened verification at death that energy cannot be destroyed. A high percentage of the world’s scientific disciplines proclaim this path of purpose, and for many, that path is further guaranteed by the advent of exceptional discovery — a factual version of messianic intervention.
Though few in number, and insignificant at present, the human being, the electro-types created by the internet — because the internet serves, without prejudice, the purpose perspectives of all levels of social interaction — has begun to define himself, and his path of purpose, by the indiscriminate consumption of electromagnetic energy regulating internet existence. As a result, we cannot expect postmodern electro-types to share a moral knowledge of purpose with defined value equivalence to that of a human being created by God and nature. A Touchscreen World The internet has not only brought us new rules, with it, we have walked into, or onto, the field of an entirely new game — a touchscreen world. To win in this new game, Electro Sapien groups or types will regard maintenance and usage of electricity as their essential source of life and purpose. They will embrace all aspects of nano-technological progress, especially those endeavours that lead to individualising the source of power that feeds the internet.
All studies which involve cloning, artificial self-replication, artificial intelligence, body part replacement technologies and systems, neurological re-engineering of brain function, and many more that yield the sum benefit of greater individual influence over the multi-leveled strata of the game, will be supported by electro-types.
The electro-type, the Electro Sapien, will expand conscious access to brain realism, merge-through miraculous data crunching — our insipid linear perception of reality with actual multi-dimensional reality. He will abstract linear thinking, see and analyse in greater detail the sapient mass of present time. He will feed on vision and memory connectivity stored in all constructs of matter, and harness integration of individual electric signatures with the internet’s electric signature. He will not fear physical death nor personal identity dissolution and insignificance.
Hope and strength, bestowed upon the religious who believe in God, will arise in the Electro Sapien as the freedom to create reality. Though far from being heartless or barbaric, Electro Sapiens will gain conscience from knowledge sharing. They will disallow corporal moral guilt; the sense of personal regret people feel when they are offended, or offend — they will not need a messianic saviour.
For the Electro Sapien, the internet is the messiah.
The Electro Sapien The electro-type, the Electro Sapien, will expand conscious access to brain realism, merge — through miraculous data crunching — our insipid linear perception of reality with actual multidimensional reality. He will abstract linear thinking, see and analyse in greater detail the sapient mass of present time. He will feed on vision and memory connectivity stored in all constructs of matter, and harness integration of individual electric signatures with the internet’s electric signature. He won’t fear death, nor personal identity dissolution and insignificance.

So @singledarkshade and @theadrogna came up with a fun challenge.  We each picked seven television shows/movies and were given a cast of one actor from each show to use in a hypothetical “dream show”.
My cast: Anya Chalotra (the Witcher), Elizabeth Gracen (Highlander), Reggie Lee (Grimm), Xenia Seeberg (Lexx), Danai Gurira (Walking Dead), Geraint Wyn Davies (Forever Knight), and Robert Vaughn (Man from UNCLE).
-- My show --
The year is 3299.  Humanity has long expanded into the stars, with the hope of founding new, ideal societies.  Humans being humans, they failed.  The Coalition of Allied Planets was founded in the spirit of that old dream, and now it has grown and spread across the galaxy, bringing peace, prosperity and civilization, by certain definitions of those words.
I hereby present: Fall of the Coalition: Rebels Rising.
Characters and Episodes below the cut
Characters:
Tumblr media
Corporal Alisha Padwal (Anya Chalotra):  Corporal Padwal had once been a promising career officer in the Coalition Corps, until a superior’s blunder led to the loss of a decisive battle.  Alisha managed to survive the resulting cover-up, but her future prospects didn’t.   Now she’s a guard on a prison transport ship, where she’ll likely live out the rest of her days, until everything changes.
Tumblr media
Petra Nikolas (Elizabeth Gracen): If you read the Coalition Press, Petra Nikolas is the most dangerous woman in the galaxy.  A second generation idealist, Petra has been using her name, wealth and reputation to secretly amass a group of rebels, all of whom have suffered under the Coalition’s “enlightened” rule.  She’s captured now, but not for long.  She has a plan.
Tumblr media
Marton Reyes (Reggie Lee): A brilliant doctor, all Marton Reyes ever wanted to do was save lives.  Unfortunately, the Coalition had a better idea of the best way to utilize his brilliant mind.  For years, Reyes took part in horrifying experiments, all supposedly intended to eventually improve human lives.  Reyes has his doubts.  One day, he couldn’t take it anymore.  He was captured immediately, but at least a few lives were saved.  Haunted by his past, Reyes finds prison almost a relief, since he can’t be made to hurt anyone anymore.
Tumblr media
Jana Brandt (Xenia Seeberg): “Thug”, “Bully” these are nice labels compared to what the Coalition calls Jana Brandt.  They call her “undesirable”: a violent recidivist who has been resistant to every attempt at therapeutic reconditioning.  The Coalition considers itself too humane to kill someone like Brandt outright, but they certainly wouldn’t mind it if she just happened to meet with an unfortunate fate on the prison planet, Xyron.  Of course, they have to get her there first.
Tumblr media
Kauli Ka Vedar/Princess Kandake of Karash (Danai Gurira):  Fifteen years ago, the Coalition brought civilization to the planet of Karash, quite against the Karashi will.  They’ll learn better, of course.  Regrettably, most of the ruling family died.  Even more regrettably, a few survived, scattered to the edges of Coalition space.
Kauli Ka Vedar is a hacker and a thief, but that wasn’t what she always was.  She survives by keeping her head low, and staying the fuck away from flashy rebel heroics.  She doesn’t like the Coalition any more than they do, but it’s not just her own life on the line if they figure out who she is.  Right now, the Coalition thinks they’ve got a petty thief.  Kauli intends to keep it that way.
Tumblr media
Governor Geof Drystan (Geraint Wyn Davies): The Planetary Governor of Xyron, Geof Drystan is basically lord and master of all he surveys.  Generally corrupt and petty, he nonetheless has a soft spot for young people that he thinks have been mistreated by the system.  At least the ones that he thinks he can manipulate.  He’s the reason that Alisha has a job at all.
Tumblr media
XS 367/”Alan Nikolas”  (Robert Vaughn):  Thirty years ago, a politician named Alan Nikolas led a movement to reform the Coalition into the democratic ideal that it was always meant to be.  A brilliant speaker, the idealistic Nikolas inspired people across the political strata, until assassination put an end to his dream.   The Coalition made sure that no one would follow in his steps.
XS 367 is a prison ship AI.  Its programming is formidable but limited.  It is complex enough to manage every aspect of the day to day running of the prison ship, inside and out, but carefully limited to prevent any sort of manifestation of independent thought or personality.  At least until Petra Nikolas comes onboard, bearing the personality matrix of her long dead father.
XS 367 knows he’s a ship.  He knows he’s not really a long dead politician.  But he also knows that his daughter is on board, and he intends to do whatever he can to help her.  His way failed.  Maybe hers will succeed.
(Every appearance of Alan Nikolas, whether it’s a flashback, or an image on a computer screen is in black and white).
Episodes:
Episode 1 “Alisha”:  Alisha Padwal is a new guard of the XS 367 prison ship.  It’s state of the art, with an AI that runs everything, meaning that Alisha and her new partner, Davvyd, are blatantly superfluous.  Alisha uses the time to try to learn about the prisoners, their crimes, and their fates.  She is disturbed by the harsh, disproportionate sentences.  Davvyd, on the other hand, is brutal, taking out his frustration on the prisoners, particularly Jana Brandt.  Meanwhile, Petra plants the personality matrix into the AI, and the prisoners break free and take over the ship.  Davvyd is stabbed during the commotion, though Jana insists that it was an accident.  Alisha is taken prisoner, but she’s not without recourse as she is able to call Governor Drystan via a secret communicator.
Flashback: the episode contains flashbacks of Alisha’s fall from grace, her court martial and Governor Drystan’s interference, and him giving her the communicator in case everything goes wrong.
Episode 2 “Petra”:  Petra Nikolas has now taken over the prison ship XS 367, now the “Alan Nikolas”.  Her efforts to recruit her fellow prisoners to her cause is meeting some unexpected resistance.  Marton is a militant pacifist, who refuses to cause harm to anyone.  Kauli doesn’t want to get involved.  Jana is on board, but her violent tendencies make Petra doubt the wisdom of recruiting her.  She finally has some luck with Alisha, who, while loyal to the Coalition, also has many doubts about their methods.
Meanwhile, the “Alan Nikolas” is on the run from the Coalition.  Petra takes them to an old hideout to obtain fuel and supplies, but is double crossed.  The others reluctantly sign on with her, realizing there’s nowhere else to go.  Alisha does too, but only upon secret approval from Governor Drystan.
Flashback: Petra’s childhood, watching her father’s eloquent public speeches.  His assassination and the subsequent smearing of his name.  Petra’s own rise, using her money and education to reach out to disenfranchised people, and her arrest for dissidence.  Her forces are still out there though, she just has to get the Alan Nikolas to them.
Episode 3 “Marton”:  The next supply stop goes about as well as the first.  Coalition forces have been waiting in ambush.  Petra, Alisha, and Jana get away, but Kauli and Marton are left behind.  Kauli is injured, and Marton has to act to save her and himself.  Meanwhile, Jana advocates just leaving them, while Petra refuses, winning Alisha’s respect and making her very uneasy about her role as a spy.  When the crew is reunited, Alisha is about to tell Drystan that she no longer believes in his mission, but Jana catches her in the act.
Flashback: This is Marton’s backstory episode, so we’ll see him as a brilliant doctor forced into work for the Coalition.  We’ll see them threaten his family and friends, to the point of deadly consequences when he tries to refuse.  Finally we’ll see him snap, as he’s forced to conduct dangerous operations on prisoners and take on his vow of pacifism.
Episode 4 “Jana”: Alisha has been caught as a spy.  Jana wants to kill her, but Petra says that they’re better than that.  They basically put Alisha on trial, letting her explain why she should get to live.  Jana is disgusted when Marton and Kauli vote to allow Alisha to stay, and attempts to mutiny.  Sadly, she is shot by “Alan”, the XS-367 itself, who is trying to protect his daughter and her crew.  Marton places Jana’s body in cryogenic suspension with the hope that one day they might be able to save her.  Meanwhile, Petra asks Alisha to keep communicating with Drystan, to see if he can be turned to their side.
Flashback: Jana’s backstory episode, as a kid from the Xyron undercity.  Her flashbacks will make it very obvious that while she does have genuine issues with rage (and some blackout episodes of violence), there has never been any real attempt to help her beyond clumsy “reconditioning”.  We also see more of her confrontation with Davvyd, and his death.  Though we don’t actually see her stab him.
Episode 5 “Kauli”:  The crew end up stumbling across another Karashi survivor, Kauli’s sister, Berenice, who is being blackmailed by a local crime boss.  Kauli has to decide whether to trust Petra, who she sees as an ivory tower rebel who has no idea what risks she’s asking of more vulnerable people, and Alisha, who until recently, was an actual spy.  Ultimately, Kauli masterminds a trap for the crime boss, freeing her sister, and makes tentative contact with the rest of her family.  We learn that the Karashi have been planning their own form of rebellion, in a more subtle and cautious way, they’re not yet willing to ally with Petra, but they’ll be keeping an eye on her.
Meanwhile, Marton and “Alan” undergo an experimental procedure that allow them to speak to a comatose Jana and try to wake her.
Flashback: Kauli’s backstory episode, showing the fall of Karesh, and Kauli’s struggle to survive as a young refugee, including a situation very like Berenice.
Episode 6 “Drystan”:  Alisha, reluctantly, arranges a meeting between Drystan and Petra, when the former expresses his own dissatisfaction with the Coalition’s practices.  The crew believe it’s a trap, but Petra believes that they might be able to turn his trap back onto him, and possibly free the prisoners of Xyron, many of whom are rebels just like Petra.
Marton, Kauli and Jana infiltrate the prison staff to try to recruit and ready the prisoners, while “Alan” and Alisha plan to disrupt Drystan’s communications, so that he can’t spring his trap.
Finally, at the meeting, Drystan tries to spring his trap.  Petra gets the upperhand, and manages to negotiate a deal with him to free the prisoners.  Then Alisha springs her trap and stabs Drystan before he can comply with Petra’s demands.  She reveals that while she respects Petra, she thinks that her rebellion is flawed and destructive.  The only way to truly bring down the Coalition is from the top.  Alisha reveals that her technological sabotage gave her the command codes to the entire planet and has erased the XS 367’s personality.  It is loyal to her now.  (Though it still wears Alan Nikolas’s face).
In the prison, Kauli, Marton and Jana manage to escape and vow to find a way to come back and free Petra and Alan.
Flashback: This episode has no flashbacks.  All of the action takes place completely in the present day.
Thus ends season 1.
A projection for season 2: “Fall of the Coalition: Rebels Strike”:
Season 2 will take place where Season 1 left off.  Alisha is now the big bad, so to speak, defending her claim to Xyron and using that to start masterminding her rise to the top of the Coalition ranks.  She intends to use Petra as a means to bring her rebellion under heel, and attempts to capture Kauli to do the same.
The crew will rescue Petra and steal the XS 367.  Using the same experimental communication method that saved her, Jana and Marton communicate with the XS 367, which has now broken free from its programming in its own right and convince it to help them.  The XS 367 continues to use Alan Nikolas’s face, but now it’s in bright 1960s style technicolor.
Eventually, Alisha’s plans go awry as she faces the people at the very top of the Coalition, and she reaches out to Petra to join forces.  But is this another double cross?

POSTSCRIPT

This article is a follow-up to “Fever Dreaming in the General Antagonism”, available here.
To the realists.- You sober people who feel well armed against passion and fantasies and would like to turn your emptiness into a matter of pride and an ornament: you call yourselves realists and hint that the world really is the way it appears to you...That mountain there! That cloud there! What is "real" in that? Subtract the phantasm and every human contribution from it, my sober friends! If you can!
–Friedrich Nietzsche, The Gay Science
The initial delirium that brought us the debates around UBI and proposals for a robust welfare state has entered a new phase as the parties of order have rediscovered their economic realism. At first glance, The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act appears to have surpassed The New Deal in not only spending, but in its power as a weapon of counter-insurgency. The Act’s new credit mechanisms linking the Federal Reserve and corporate financial institutions normalize emergency bailout spending and lay the groundwork for continued accumulation amidst large-scale demobilizations of the labor force. The confidence it looks to inspire in markets seems premised on the notion that they can now function without labor, as needed. The problem of the quarantine’s false strike for capital has been “solved.”  Should a true general strike ever materialize, its attack power has been pre-emptively weakened. Meanwhile, the acceleration effect of COVID-19 continues at local levels of government, too. In the case of Cook County Jail in Chicago, Illinois (the largest in the U.S.), which just released all of its non-violent offenders. Everywhere our agency seems to be outstripped and governments have the initiative.
And yet there are reasons for laughing at the realists. On the one hand, in all likelihood, even after we find ourselves on the other side of The Curve, historians of pandemics past such as John Barry predict that this wave will not be the last. On the other, the welfare and aid provisions of the Act are temporary in comparison to the time-line of the virus and the extended fallout of the economic recession. Crisis governance may still have to face its biggest challenges yet,and that is true even without the spread of a highly motivated housing and labor movement. We must take the initiative and answer the Act now while understanding that the struggle has just begun. Many of us have activated networks and capacities that we’ve developed over the last decade – many dating as far back as Occupy Wall Street, some even farther. But how to proceed?
Curiously, the general antagonism between life and COVID-19 has witnessed the rise of a new figure of labor: the front-liner, one who risks their life within a service or industry deemed essential to the economy. This figure cuts across the social strata of the workforce, gathering together hospital nurses and doctors, sanitation workers and grocery store clerks, formerly incarcerated transit workers and unionized transit workers, warehouse workers at Amazon and gig workers at Instacart. Rank and file workers have the cause and opportunity to take initiative and override their unions where they fail to act. More importantly, the front-liner embodies the basic contradiction of our moment: we are dependent on the economy and so it persists, despite its profound complicity with the virus. The spaces of proximity required for the accumulation of capital also feeds the accumulation of new cases and victims of COVID-19. Hence the necessity of these workers, the so-called necessity of the risks they take to survive or to care for our bodies or to drive us around plagued cities in their buses and cars is an expression of our very dependence on the economy. But for now this necessity that expresses our dependence is also the source of their power, which is proving itself in the latest wave of walk-offs and wild-cat strikes.
The general antagonism has a second front: literally, the home. This private has always been political, despite the traditional public/private schema. However, as philosopher Peter Sloterdijk might say, the home as a technical immune system that buffers our exposure to the world and its maladies has been made very present to us by the virtual threat outside. Prior to the pandemic, to immunize from the outside world was to create a shelter of relative freedom from its pressures retreating to an airspace of relief. Now that our homes have been made to feel like spaces of confinement, their effects of insulation and alleviation have been taken over by a suffocating intolerability (“‘Me time?’ I’ve had quite enough, thank you!”). Nonetheless, reinvigorated modes of resistance have seized upon their potential for antagonism: mutual aid networks reintroduce the presence of others and introduce novel forms of group belonging across households. Rent strikes and eviction resistance are spreading, contesting property relations while attesting to the fact that we dwellers have our being in our dwellings.
Currently, and most surprisingly, we are facing our own acceleration problem: the two fronts fight without grasping the singular problem they share. Hypothesis: if we are to gain the initiative, we must link these two fronts together in a common attack on not only COVID-19, but the realism of governments who turn our needs and dependency into the necessity of capitalist accumulation. We must offer not only a vision but a strategy that completes the unmasking of economic whim began by COVID-19. The emergency demands and the measures taken by governments have revealed the arbitrariness of the distribution of benefits and burdens that existed prior to the pandemic, and which for the moment continues to exist thanks to the Act. Whether it’s the “hard reality” of paying for our living spaces every month or (for some) the daily reality of risk in an “essential” job (in order to pay for living space no less!), we must complete the revelation of the economy for what it is: an unnecessary choice.
While discontinuous with the front-liners of Hong Kong, like them the risk exposure of front-liners in the context of the coronavirus invites a supporting cast of other roles and solidarities. What other figures can be drawn up from the practices of rent strikers and mutual aid-ers to intensify their confidence to strike and walk-off? How can making these explicit help them to compose a common force and be more effective? On the homefront, we have begun to see the assembling of immunological spaces into war machines, as in the networking of homes for rent strike committees (and in the use of cars in noise demonstrations). How can these networks link back up to front-liners? And between the two fronts, what public or counter-public spaces can we re-invent when Spring intensifies our wanderlust? Would something equivalent to the Lennon Walls of Hong Kong take root in U.S. cities? Finally, overall, our strategic question seems to be, how can the front-line and the home-front combine to reduce our overall dependency on economic reality by maximizing the number of needs that are met for free, at no cost?
In the ongoing delirium, our gestures are charged with the alarm and urgency of war, which always brings with it immense expenditures of effort and feats of stress endurance. The war zone in which an increasing number of doctors and nurses find themselves is too real, yet this war cannot be our object as we fight in the general antagonism. After all, our immune systems will suffer if we do. We must aim to overcome need  and necessity itself through a new spirit of communal luxury and joy. We have reason to be optimistic: when the Great Recession of 2008 hit, it took nearly three years for a movement to respond in the U.S. This time we’ve had a decade of preparation.
P.S. Thank you to the organizers and participants in the Undercommons and Destituent Power Conference for making a space to think together in a disaster.

Water Issues In Strata Buildings
Stratarama Water Issues In Strata Buildings
Tumblr media
Strata buildings are complex. There are common and individual wiring and pipes throughout the structure of the building. And as with everything, the more you have of anything, the greater the chance of something going wrong. Who pays for the water damages? Is it the lot owners or strata, what types of water damages are there?
Types Of Water Issues
When it comes to the type of water damages that can occur in strata buildings, there’s a long list. The possibility of leaks is extremely common. The possibility of seepage throughout the building that can further damage more elements in the structure. Here are the most common water-related damages that occur in strata buildings:
Leakages of plumbing, taps, or pipes
Seepage from cracks in the foundation
Mould, rot, or corrosion from seepage
Ruptured water pipes
Roof flashing, tiles, and shingles and rusted roof sheets in need of repairs (including gutter and downpipe leaks and blockages)
With varied pipelines running within the structure often in between walls and underground, it can be difficult to inspect and trace for some leaks (unlike others where the leak may be as a result of saying a washer or toilet seal). In some instances the inspection necessary may require more than just a Plumber, you may require an Engineers or Leak detection specialist or other professional to get to the sources of leaks and bursts in the structure of the buildings.
Maintenance Needs Vs Insurance Claims For Water Issues
When it comes to water issues, there’s no answer that fits all questions. In some instances, water damage may be as a direct result of neglect in relation to maintenance by lot owners or the strata collective. Other times a pipe may burst for no expected cause, and cause damage which is not visible for some time. Insurance has a part to play where appropriate, but it is not in place as a means of replacing routine maintenance.
With a clear indication that there is a leak coming from common property, the strata must get it fixed as soon as possible to prevent and limit any damages that water may cause. The same is said for a Unit Owner.  However, this does not mean that lot owners can wait for small leaks to turn into major issues. It is best to take responsibility as soon as possible to prevent the bigger loss, bigger insurance, or maintenance costs. Preventative maintenance is always best where possible. Both the strata and the unit Owners must ensure that they are doing their best to maintain the building and private property.
Therefore, if there is a visible leak, proper maintenance must be carried out at the right time. Insurance claims can only be of assistance in certain circumstances and only once the cause of the water damage issue has been resolved. Moreover, insurance claims are not entertained when there are obvious signs of lack of maintenance on the lot owners or tenants’ side.
Insurance claims are covered mainly where there are sudden accidents or bursts. If leakages or moulds are growing over time, then it is upon the lot owner to get it checked out by a professional beforehand.
How Water Issues Affect Buildings
Water issues can cause immense damage to the structure of the buildings. If there are prolonged issues that lot owners or strata have overlooked, then there will be issues for those living within the buildings.
Proper maintenance is essential to ensure that the living conditions of the buildings are not obstructed. Water issues can severely affect the conditions of different spaces throughout the buildings. If they are not paid attention to, then these might result in excessive repairs and the inability to use homes for owners or tenants.
Walls, ceilings, and roofs might need to be removed and repaired. This is a long process.
The Effect On Future Insurance Premiums And Excesses
Water issues create the majority result of insurance claims and the number of water-related claims continues to rise year on year. As claims histories grow the policy holder (the strata) faces the likely possibility of increased future insurance premiums and excesses or specific excesses imposed on water damage claims in order for the insurer to be able to offer a policy.
The best solution for water issues is that strata and lot owners actively put in balanced efforts to resolve issues when evident and work to undertake any form of preventative maintenance required. With better maintenance at both ends, the group can hope to be less heavily impacted not only by insurance claims and premiums but also by emergency works and repairs.
