Just wanted to say that the way you write Donnie’s autism hits a bit too close to home, sometimes. I often go back and read your fics that focus on that, and seeing the representation feels quite fulfilling.

not often, but i recently had someone who REALLY disliked the way things change because i 'villainized' raph. which is definitely news to me, since raphael is the love of my life

the only hoax i believe in - a kfam fic in my top 5s why yes and i'll tell you why. because i poured so much of myself into this fic that they could probably read it at my funeral instead of a eulogy

traveling so far to get there - after party au raph and mikey continue to take up so much real estate in my brain and for what

now the darkness comes alive - this one is more recent but im so happy with the way it turned out :')

if we could stay all day in the sun - it was a lot of fun reimagining one of my favorite fairy tales and doing a bunch of unnecessary research for this story i will stand by it until the day i die !!

Leo catches Donnie staring at him – and Donnie's face is not a perfect mask, displaying only what he intends – if only a fraction of the confusing Emotions that are running rampant in him show, that would be more than enough to explain the way Leo's brow creases. The way the mask slips immediately and reveals just how exhausted Leo is. Donnie knows he is not imagining the slight tremor in Leo's hand as he splays it open, then taps his chest with his thumb a few times. I'm fine.

Donnie scowls at him, swiping the flat of his hand under his chin with emphasis; LIAR.

Hi, do you have any parental/uncle Hueso fic recs? Please, there is a severe lack of them in my life

I don't have a bunch and several of them I've recced before but hopefully this list is still useful! If anyone knows of any more feel free to comment here!

My personal favorite Tio Hueso fic is Sr. Hueso, After Hours by obsessedwithstardust. Just a compilation of different moments with Hueso and Leo.

The Multilingual Turtles series by Chaos_Breeds is all about Hueso finding out that Leo (and Donnie) can speak several different languages, and various shenanigans that result from it. Get_dunked_off also wrote a pretty funny spinoff of this series, A truly French experience.

Voicemail by pickledcarrotsandradish is a post-movie fic with Hueso being worried after he doesn't hear from Leo or the others in the aftermath.

All Part of Growing Process by Bamgel_bagel has a section with Hueso in the main fic (A Crack in the Shell) but there's even more Tio Hueso fluff in One Soda for a Healing Turtle, Please!

It's not the whole fic, but chapter 9 of bobtheacorn's fic i go there with you has a scene I remember a lot where Hueso brings Leo some garlic knots haha.

chronicles of a fruit ninja by f3licks isn't all Hueso but has a good scene with him at the start (the fic is about Leo coming out to his family).

Aaaand I'm not caught up on this one myself, but I've heard good things about Not a Run of the Mill Family by Moon_Tide, which is a separated Leo fic where he's raised by Hueso.

6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time?

Okay so generally my rule of thumb is to not read fic from fandoms I’m actively working in so I don’t get swept up in fanon interpretations, but I’ve broken that rule with Rise so here we go.

(Please note that I haven’t read MUCH. Anything longer than a few chapters takes me a long time to get through because I’m busy and rereading my own fic all the time lol Also I’m picky.)

warmly in the dark by bobtheacorn is probably my fav fic in the archive right now. the characterization is sublime and it’s infinitely rereadable. Dialogue is stupid good too.

Under Pressure by ParvumAutomaton is one I find myself constantly revisiting despite the fact that the conceit has a major flaw (there are no natural lakes, especially ones big enough for caves and cave diving, in Manhattan). I think it’s BECAUSE of this weird glitch that I find it so charming. The author clearly knows their stuff when it comes to cave diving, so much so that the lack of underwater caves in Manhattan missed their notice, and the knowledge of diving is so well rounded and interesting that I found myself willing to look past the obvious. Plus, the plot is super interesting and the last chapter or two really grabbed me in ways that make me think. I reread this one a LOT.

10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

Honestly, Very Thoughtful… I get super nervous every time I post a chapter of that fic and the response has been so so positive. The amount of comments and direct messages I get with people sharing their own experiences or letting me know how seen they feel is honestly super overwhelming. I never thought such a small fic would gain as much traction as it has.

Also I guess The Old College Try because it’s not exactly what most people come to fanfiction for. It’s a weird fic with a weird focus and a weird conceit, so the fact that people are reading it at all is pretty surprising to me!

13. How much planning do you do before writing?

15. How do you come up with titles for your fics/chapters?

For titles I usually wait until the very last minute (until I have everything else filled out on the publishing page on ao3 OTL). I don’t particularly LIKE titling things and I don’t think about it until I have to. Normally I bust down the door on Discord and yell at my friends like “I NEED A TITLE FOR THIS FIC HELP” and then we brainstorm. Sometimes Katie will just straight up go “Oh for xyz fic, you should call it ABC” and then I do.

For chapter titles, I like to come up with some kind of titling convention and I’ll just follow it. It makes it so much easier, though I do end up in the weeds sometimes when I can’t decide on something within the convention.

Basically I suck at titles lol. I hate using song lyrics too because they can be a bit obtuse and esoteric sometimes. Generally I just like using an important phrase or some nouns or something. idk.

💞what's the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language

answered here, except also i've realized that the most important thing is what I fuss over until a story is actually done, which is what i call 'sticking the landing.' after i hit the climax, did i bring it home? did i carry it out, did I finish it well? is the ending coming to a satisfying rest? i can spitball and brainstorm until the cows come home but for me what makes a story a story is reaching the conclusion in a way that rings.

🍭why did you start writing?

uh. words make brain go brr? i've been writing...at least since I was ten, more likely eight. I had this whole novel in mind as a kid and eventually wrote the whole thing out by the time I was fourteen. it's not good but i'm so fond of it. i like the process of making stories real, and taking them from half formed bits in my head to things i can go back and reread.

His phone buzzes in his pocket at the same moment and continues frantically, and his right arm goes inexplicably pins-and-needles. He whips around to look at the other computer monitor.
