"Sorry To Disappoint": RCB Drops Virat Kohli Captaincy Bomb Before IPL 2025 Auction
As the cricketing world awaited the release of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 retention lists, rumors spread that Virat Kohli will return as Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain. The speculation grew after the RCB removed skipper Faf du Plessis from the retention list, increasing fans’ hopes that Kohli may restore the team’s captaincy. However, RCB’s Director of Cricket Mo Bobat refuted…

Statement of RCB Director of Cricket On Trading Mumbai Indians Star
Acquiring more bowling options to support pace spearhead Mohammad Siraj will be Royal Challengers Bangalore's top priority at the upcoming IPL auctions, the team's Director of Cricket Bobat said on Monday.
RCB have retained 18 players, including star batter Virat Kohli, skipper Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Siraj, and released 11 players. Those who have been released include the trio of medium pacer Harshal Patel, Sri Lanka leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, and Australian quick Josh Hazlewood, depleting the team's bowling resources.
In a media release, Bobat said, "Mohammad Siraj is a core part of what we do, so supporting Siraj with some more bowling options, including overseas bowling options, is going to be a real priority for us moving forward.”
He further added, "Then we have got a core of local spinners, which I think is quite strong. Some of them got some opportunities over the last year or two, and they might play more leading roles moving forward.”
In order to strengthen their middle-order top-heavy side, RCB traded Australia all-rounder Cameron Green for Rs 17.5 crore from the Mumbai Indians.
"We have got a strong core of retaining players, and we have got a very powerful top order. Part of the decision-making that we had around our player release decisions was to try and strengthen the middle order, and bringing Cameron Green was a fantastic move."

IPL Auction: RCB Director Of Cricket Mo Bobat Keen To Look For Overseas Fast-bowlers
Cricket Mo Bobat: Mo Bobat, the Director of Cricket for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), stated that the side will be keen to rope in overseas fast-bowlers at the upcoming IPL Auction, happening in Dubai on Tuesday. Before the auction, RCB got Australia all-rounder Cameron Green in a trade from Mumbai Indians. They enter the auction with a purse of INR 23.25 crores and have to fill six slots, three of which are overseas. Their eyes will be on getting overseas pacer and spinner after letting go of Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga, as well as in Indian bowling options after releasing Harshal Patel while Shahbaz Ahmed was traded to Sunrisers Hyderabad. “We have got a strong core of retaining players, and we have got a very powerful top order. Part of the decision-making that we had around our player release decisions was to try and strengthen the middle order and bringing Cameron Green was a fantastic move.” “Mohammad Siraj is a core part of what we do so supporting Siraj with some more bowling options including overseas bowling options is going to be a real priority for us moving forward.” “Then we have got a core of local spinners, which I think is quite strong. Some of them got some opportunities over the last year or two and they might play more leading roles moving forward,” said Bobat in a release issued by the franchise, where he spoke on the auction strategy during RCB Innovation Lab’s Leaders Meet India held last month. Bobat, who will be leaving his role as England Men’s Performance Director to be full-time with RCB, expressed his commitment of creating a performance-based culture in the side. “I am committed to a long-term project here. We have a fantastic captain in Faf, and an excellent group of senior players with the experience of Virat, Maxi (Maxwell), and DK (Dinesh Karthik). So the ingredients are really strong.” “The next objective is to make sure we create the right performance, and culture where the players can really go and showcase what they are capable of, and go out and entertain the public. If we commit to our processes, play a brand of cricket that is aggressive, and have those moments where we're prepared to be brave it will get the fans going.” Bobat also delved into the skill, physical, and psychological aspects while zeroing on the best likely fits at the auction for RCB, who are yet to win an IPL title. “Naturally cricket tends to get attracted to and gravitate towards things like the control and the lateral movement of fast bowlers but what we should be doing is identifying players that have the pace and the balance.” “The reason I draw that distinction is you can teach someone to ball accurately, you can teach someone to develop craft and lateral movement but it is not that easy to teach pace or manufacture balance because you are talking about their release height and their physicality." "So understanding that distinction between which of those attributes we need to identify and which of those things we can teach over time is a really important distinction.” Read the full article

05.11. 20:56 | Ilo Pisara vs Bobators 4 - 3
Well, that was a close shave! A 4-3 win is not something to be proud of. I expect better from you lot! Sami Noddy, with your offensive rating of 95, scoring three goals is commendable but those 12 giveaways are a disgrace! It's like you're Santa Claus giving away presents in the middle of a hockey game. You might as well put on a red suit and start yelling 'Ho Ho Ho'. Get it together! Teppo Winnipeg, one goal doesn't make up for your defensive rating of 40. What were you doing out there? Ice-skating? This isn't a ballet, son. Your defense needs work. Jani Saari, while your teamplay rating of 95 is impressive, eight giveaways are unacceptable. Are you playing for us or them? Our shot percentage was higher than theirs but our defense was porous. We allowed too many shots on our net. Our offense carried us through this time but we can't always rely on that. We need to tighten up our play and reduce mistakes. This is not a charity; we're not here to give away the puck or goals. We need to be ruthless and clinical. In conclusion, this performance was subpar at best. We scraped by with a win but don't let that fool you into thinking you played well because you didn't. Improve or face the consequences!

[ad_1] Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have appointed England men's Performance Director Mo Bobat as their new director of cricket following the departure of Mike Hesson earlier this year, the Indian Premier League (IPL) side announced on Friday. Mo Bobat had worked closely with current Bangalore coach Andy Flower during the latter's tenure with England. Bobat, who has been part of the England and Wales Cricket Board since 2011 and has overseen Twenty20 and 50-over World Cup triumphs, will leave his role with them in February 2024. He had worked closely with current Bangalore coach Andy Flower during the latter's tenure with England. "RCB is one of the most recognisable franchises in the world, with a renowned fan base. To serve them will be a huge honour," Bobat said in a statement the club posted on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. "I'm really looking forward to working closely with Andy Flower, somebody I know well, to take on the baton and deliver the success that RCB craves." In August, Flower was appointed head coach of RCB replacing Sanjay Bangar after the team finished sixth in this year's IPL. [ad_2] Source link
