Mad about how few lines Asami actually had in the show for a main character and chronic love interest so here have someone who likes to listen to her talk.
"...thermal conduction. Market research says nobody wants gray ones though, they're too 'industrial', whatever that means. It seems brighter colors are in now, like red and yellow. But the marketing team are professionals and I'm not about to waste intel just because I disagree with it. So I asked the production team..."
General Iroh hummed his agreement and took another sip of his milk tea through his straw. The sweet treat was completely antithetical to his fitness routine but he worked hard and they tasted good, and anyway he couldn't argue with the company. Their Friday afternoon meeting at the little cafe across the street from City Hall was often the highlight of his week.
"...ridiculous call. Anyone with eyes could see he was in when he threw that disc. It'll probably cost the Boar-q-pines the championship if it isn't overturned. I hear the league is considering using mover cameras to film games so that they can go back and review major penalties like that. That won't help the Boar-q-pines this year but it's a fantastic application of..."
"It is," said Iroh. The milk tea tasted cold and delicious in the snug warmth of the cafe. Outside the rain was coming down in sheets. In that moment Iroh thought you couldn't pay him enough to be anywhere else.
"General, are you even listening to me?" Asami teased. She took a delicate sip of her own drink, a pink, sugary confection with enough caffeine in it to kill a komodo rhino.
Iroh blinked, surprised. "Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"
A light blush stained Asami's pretty cheeks as she dropped her eyes. "Oh. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to assume. Not everyone likes to hear me talk."
"I do," said Iroh. "You're the smartest person I know. I always want to hear what you think." And he could swear Asami's blush deepened.
#irosami#idk I think Iroh would be a good listener#and Asami has so many smart things to say#let her talk#tlok

Meau's fur and body shape here reminds me of the Boar-q-pine from Avatar the Last Airbender.
The emotion in your comic is so awesome--My stomach is in knots! I hate that I don't know if child-Mew is alive or not, but I guess I'll have to wait to find out. X3
I was actually going for that look and feel so I’m SO happy it came across!! ;DD Since I also noticed a few lovely folk (you know who you are <3) ask about Meau’s reference sheet/ mega design, here’s all the concept sketches! She didn’t really have a sheet, but I had the vague idea. I wanted a kind of feral, sabertooth/kangaroo mix. I initially had a secondary design that was more refined and sleek, but I felt it didn’t fit the rage nor really fit the ancient vibe. It may be used as X evolution or maybe for mew themselves, but we’ll have to wait and see.
And thank you ;u;,, I know some bits were wonky, but I really hope it made the impact I was aiming for!! I promise I gets happier from here on out, we just needed this big outta the way ;3

Here's a short follow up to Marked in honor of Day 6 of Lin Beifong's Week (Soulmate AU). It doesn't count because it's not a new fic, but I thought I'd share it anyway.
They didn’t speak much during the match; they were both too serious about probending for that, but Lin was ever conscious of his presence beside her. She didn’t know what to make of him, this man with eyes like sunset, who split a bag of sizzle crisps with her and knew which kind of beer she wanted without having to ask.
When the Boar-Q-Pines scored the winning goal, and she shouted “fuck yeah!” there was no well-meaning admonishment, no measured, “Language, Lin”—just a broad grin that could make even platinum bend.
“You got money on this match?” he asked before polishing off his beer.
“I don’t gamble,” she replied. “It’s against the law.”
“Most things worth doing are,” he said with a wink and then stood, offering his arm. “Take a walk with me?”
Before she could find the words to refuse—it was late, she had a boyfriend, she hardly knew him—her hand with the soulmark reached out and placed itself on his bicep. She nearly gasped when she made contact, suddenly warm and weak-kneed like the time she’d sipped too much moonpeach wine at one of her grandmother’s galas.
“Not a lightweight, are you?”
“No,” she replied. “It’s just…different, being this close.”
“Like coming home.”
Lin’s lips parted slightly as she gazed up at him, and it took everything within her to shift her focus away from his mouth.
“So where are we walking to?” she asked once they’d left the stadium and were drifting down the causeway among the throngs of probending fans.
“I thought we might head down to Kwong’s,” he said. “Celebrate our team's win with some steaks and sake.”
“Sounds like my kind of night,” she told him. “But I shouldn’t.”
“And you’re the kind of person who always does what you should,” he said. “The kind of person who has more fun than anyone when they finally cut loose.”
Lin scoffed. “You talk like you know me.”
“I’d like to,” he said, “very much.”
“Why? Don’t tell me you’re the type to let your life be dictated by a glorified birthmark.”
“Linny, fifty years ago, we’d have been on opposite sides of a war. Before that we’d have been born on different continents, ones we probably would have never left. So much shit had to go right for us to be standing here right now, and I for one don’t plan to waste it.”
“And what if I do?” Lin asked.
“Then I’ll make my fortune and wait for you.”
“Fortunes don’t impress me.”
“Then what does, gorgeous?”
“Good taste in restaurants, for one,” she said. “So I suppose we can go to Kwong’s. As friends.”
“To friendship, then,” he said as they turned onto Harmony Drive.

windswept ch7 preview?
Of course anon! I've been working on some other things but I promise Windswept has my attention as well. I'm pretty early on in my first draft, but here's a little snippet:
“Oooh, I like this one!” Wu has been admiring sculpture after sculpture, but he fixates on a particularly large piece. Mako meanders over to see what Wu is looking at. Mako’s not sure how to feel about this one. It feels sort of… angry. Violent? Tall triangles jut up, reaching for the sky, while thin spikes stick in and out in every direction. There’s two wires weaving in and out of the mess. The wires tightly wrap around each other in some parts, then splay far apart in others. Mako’s eyes follow the wires. One wire cuts off abruptly, a sharp edge that Mako is sure will draw blood if he tries to touch the jagged end of the wire, while the other continues on and twists up into a messy scribble—something tangled and wild that sort of reminds Mako of a storm cloud—right in the top center of the piece. He’s kind of surprised Wu likes something so sharp and dangerous. Huan ignores them as he continues bending the metal piece in front of him, carefully and with focus. He doesn’t appear flattered by Wu’s appreciation of his work. Bolin stares at the piece along with Wu. “Right… Yes, it’s a very nice… boar-q-pine?” That gets Huan’s attention. “It’s not a boar-q-pine!” He practically shouts with a frustrated grunt. “It represents the tragic love story between Oma and Shu amidst the war between their villages. Obviously.” “Uh…” Bolin squints, ducks, tilts his head to the side, and attempts to view the piece from every vantage point. “Right… Okay. Yeah, yeah, I… I totally see it now…” Bolin says in a tone that conveys he very much does not see it now. “Oh…” Wu says thoughtfully. “Wow, yeah, I… I see it.” Wu is serious, he definitely does see it. Weirdly, Mako sees it too. The mountains. The sharp weapons of war. The intertwining of two lifelines—one cut short, causing the other to knot itself up in grief. “Yeah,” Mako agrees softly. “It’s sad.” “When I was little,” Wu starts to explain, “I always liked the part of the story with the badgermoles. I just thought it was neat that Oma and Shu had made friends with the original earthbenders. I always wondered why they didn’t just run away and live with the badgermoles for the rest of their lives!” Wu lets out a small huff. “I always wondered why they didn’t use their earthbending to stop the war together,” Mako says as he stares at the sculpture. “Before Oma died.” “Oh, I never thought of that before…” Wu says thoughtfully. “But yeah, they might have been even stronger together…”

“Ok here’s a question. If you had a choice to choose between learning earthbending from a seasoned master or the original source aka badger moles. Which should you choose and why?
Bolin gasped loudly at the two choices before pursing his lips in thought for a moment.
"Both are pretty tempting... but I'd have to go with the badgermoles! One, because BADGERMOLES, DUH. But also, two, I guess 'seasoned master' is a pretty broad description. What are the the master of? I already trained under Toza, who's an AMAZING earthbending pro-bender as he's been playing for decades and taught me everything I know about pro-bending." He puffed up his chest in pride and nodded to himself in satisfaction at the memory of him and his brother still training under the old Boar-q-pine player. "But if it's like some stuffy earthbender who's only going to criticize me on my more non-traditional takes on bending, then I'm not for that. That would link to three, badgermoles probably won't yell at me, hah. And four, just watching nature bend things is really cool, I think."

tropes: shadow syndicate, moral event horizon, noble demon.
advancing the agenda of the fire nation and protecting its interests in republic city, from within the shadows, directly from the belly of the beast. drawing upon his military experience and leadership skills, lu ten gathered members—former soldiers, mercenaries, and individuals willing to follow orders without objection, they embarked on a path of order through severity, specializing in espionage and sabotage to assassinations, compromising moralities. their identities are concealed, known only to a select few who have infiltrated the reigns. lu ten can count on one hand the number of people who can connect him to the syndicate. agni kai triad, the organization, is not bound by traditional notions of morality or ethics.
its members are willing to employ morally questionable methods in service of the fire nation, understanding that their actions may require sacrifices for the greater good of their nation. they maintain tenuous alliances with certain groups and individuals for mutual benefit, they also have rivalries with competing organizations vying for control and dominance. in particular, tensions run high with rival gangs such as the triple threat triad and the red monsoons, leading to occasional conflicts and turf wars.
dubbed as the dragon head, lu ten is more than willing to bear the burden of dishonor. they preemptively neutralize potential threats, including preemptive strikes against any threats to the crown—from inside fire nation and out. their funding is sourced from a combination of gambling profits, smuggling contraband, and extorting rival gangs. while on the surface, it operates as just another criminal gang, its true roots delve much deeper. influenced by fire nation traditions and rituals, members of the agni kai organization partake in initiation ceremonies reminiscent of ancient fire nation customs. the ceremony unfolds at a sacred shrine dedicated to the fire lord, adorned with flickering flames and offerings of incense. a sacrificial offering, often a boar-q-pine, is presented before the altar as a symbol of devotion and loyalty. initiates then partake in a ritualistic libation, drinking a mixture of spiced wine infused. three fingers of the left hand are raised as a binding gesture, known as the flame oath.

Korra: *is healing Kuvira’s arm* “And what did we learn today?”
Kuvira: *pouting indignantly* *mutters under her breath*
Korra: *smirks* “What was that?”
Kuvira: *huffs in annoyance* “I said: I learned not to try and pet a boar-q-pine.”
Korra: “I don’t even know what possessed you to try it at all.”
Kuvira: “It was cute! It was curled up in this little ball, and I thought I could approach it quietly. But I started it, and… Well you know the rest.”
Korra: *smiles fondly and shakes her head* “Well, you’re all healed up. But I recommend avoiding any boar-q-pines in the future.”
Kuvira: “Haha, you’re so funny.”

It really was all Azula’s fault, this time.
The blood was thick and sticky, and the night was cold. Katara stood quite stiffly, arms held away from her sides in a preservative stance that did nothing to alleviate the discomfort of being covered from head-to-toe in syrupy murk. The blood was hot but quickly cooling into a numbness that made it impossible to tell what was her own, and what had belonged to either of the demonic spawn she currently shared this unfortunate patch of forest with. Red glop was oozing down the sides of her face—that at least, she was sure, belonged to someone else.
But only one thought circled through her brain, once the shock wore off enough for her to see a different kind of red through tightly-knitted eyelids. This is all. Azula’s. Fault.
Azula, as Azula was inclined to do on a regular basis or else risk some kind of frisson or aneurism, disagreed. Her voice came off-hand from the darkness, inspiring Katara to break her stance and lift a hand to scrape across her smattered face. “This is all your fault, Katara.”
Pain shot through Katara’s jaw, and her eyes shot open, finding the object of her ire in the moonlight. Azula was posed casually a couple meters away. She had one hand raised, brows pressed slightly at something distasteful on her fingernails, while the rest of the dark smatterings across her arms and clothing did little to rival Katara’s own situation.
The giant corpse between them smelled like burned metal, and it prickled at her nostrils like a personal affront.
“My fault? I already told you I wouldn’t use bloodbending,” Katara gritted out.
“Oh, please,” Azula replied with a flippant wave of her hand, “this barely counts. It was just a wild boar-q-pine.”
Katara took a stiff step forward, nobly ignoring the unpleasant squish in her slippers. Azula followed her cue, circling around the boar at an easy pace.
“You’re just a thorn in my side, but I haven’t turned your veins into puppet strings.” Yet.
No, Katara amended firmly. Don’t entertain temptation.
Azula caught the veiled threat with a knowing smirk. “I’m just starting to wonder how much of this legendary gift you have is a scare tactic, that’s all.”
“You aren’t going to goad me into showing you bloodbending, Azula.”
“I just don’t understand. Why keep something like this a secret for so long?” She frowned, playing at genuinity. “Don’t tell me you don’t trust me after all this time.”
“Not everything is a game, okay? Sometimes people just don’t like you. And sometimes they don’t want anything to do with you at all.”
“I never said it was a game.”
The corpse was behind her now, and its glistening spikes caught the whispers of the moon in a poor attempt at rivalry with the shine of Azula’s hair. The bridge of her nose was traced with a web of crimson that had already begun to dry, flecks of it caught around her eyes, which were drawn into an almost eerie intensity. It caught Katara off-guard, but couldn’t stop her from taking the next step closer, nor could it halt the stubborn tilt of her chin.
“Whatever. Next time you pull up a masterful last-minute plan, make sure to factor some level of common morality into it or factor me out.”
“Next time, don’t let your piddly moral hang-ups stop you from getting the job done.”
They really were quite close, now.
Azula seemed to notice it the moment she did, and the odd look in her eye shifted into a kind of conflict Katara had never before seen reflected there. The metallic stench of blood took on a husk of ash, and seemed to whisper against her skin, a prickle of…
Of what? For all the potency of the sensation, Katara couldn’t pin it down.
But Azula didn’t seem to be looking for certainty. The air stagnated between them, drew tight and difficult to breathe. For Katara, at least—Azula seemed to have no problem with it, her breath fanning the side of Katara’s face with a warmth that refused to stop there. Azula’s arms were crossed, finger tapping against her elbow in a rhythm that echoed the beat in Katara’s chest, until her heart decided it wasn’t going fast enough and tripped over itself to amend that.
Everything else was still.
Then Azula tilted her head.
“Well, since I suppose that means you won’t bloodbend this mess away, perhaps we should go find a river or something,” she said quietly, before leaning forward conspiratorily. Katara held her breath entirely. The smile in those amber eyes glittered with some hidden secret, but her tone was serious. “You stink.”
Katara blinked. Something in the back of her mind began to buzz faintly, and it felt distinctly red.
And whatever happened next—well, that was Azula’s fault, too.

(Republic City Gazette - Republic City) - After their win last night against the White Falls Wolf Bats, the Flying Boars are now set to head into the Pro-Bending Championship Tournament Final undefeated in their rookie season. In the final this Saturday, the Flying Boars will face defending champs the Black Quarry Boar-q-pines for a night that’s sure to be anything but boar-ing”. The RC Gazette sat down with the Flying Boars’ earthbender, Toph Beifong, for an exclusive interview.
RCG: Congratulations on making it to final! That must be such a shock in your first season as a team.
TB: Not really.
RCG: You’re not surprised that your team made it to the final?
TB: No.
RCG: But no other team in the history of pro-bending has ever made it to the final in their first year.
TB: Yeah, well we’re just better benders.
A tall claim for a short young woman, but hard to deny. Despite their young ages (the eldest, Zuko, only recently turned 22), Toph, Zuko, and Katara are incredibly powerful benders. But individually powerful benders are not enough to make a winning team.
TB: We’ve been friends for years. I know [Zuko and Katara’s] bending styles and they know mine. We know how we each react to things so when we get in the arena we don’t have to stop and talk, it’s just go go go.
RCG: Shifting gears, your team name obviously comes from the symbol of your family, the Flying Boar. Your parents must be big supporters.
TB: HA! My parents are not pro-bending fans at all.
RCG: Then why name your team the Flying Boars?
TB: I thought it would be funny. We were debating team names and not getting anywhere so I went ahead paid for the uniforms to be made for “the Flying Boars”. Zuko and Katara were annoyed at first, but not enough to want to pay for new uniforms.
RCG: I see... Now, Zuko and Katara are often noted as having strong chemistry both in the arena and out of it. Are the rumors of secret romance in the locker room true?
TB: Obviously. Don’t waste my time with stupid questions.
RCG: Wait, really?? I -
TB: Listen, it’s been real but I gotta roll. Rock and roll that is - ha!
There are some that might say a rookie team will only win the Pro-Bending Championship Tournament when pigs fly. But looking at their perfect record, and surrounded by their logo on everything from fan jerseys to multistory banners on buildings in downtown Republic City, it’s clear that even if pigs don’t fly, boars do.
Catch the Pro-Bending Championship Tournament Final this Saturday.
♥ Please do not repost. If you like it and want to show people, share a link to this page instead. Thank you!

New (finished!) Fic: Yaoja's Number One Fan
Some folks were chatting this morning about the lack of content for Asami that doesn't revolve around shipping. It's something I've complained about myself. Complained about, and done nothing. So, with a little inspiration, I've finally kicked off the backstory series for Asami that I've always wanted to write. In this short and sweet one shot, a nine-year-old Asami is desperate to go to her first pro-bending match. And not at all because the Black Quarry Boar-q-pines' firebender is cute.

34 for Bumizumi, please?
(Thanks for the ask! I've never written them before, but I tried lol!)
34. jaw kisses
This was not the time Izumi would have chosen to sit for a portrait, not by any stretch of the imagination. With the recession that seemed to drag on in perpetuity and the Sozinite factions inciting riots on Ma'inka Island, she needed to be meeting with ministers and scholars or going out among the people.
But she was a royal heir who had just reached her majority, and tradition dictated that she must sit for a portrait. So she sat, even though Avatar Aang would arrive any minute to discuss the economic situation with her father, and the Minister of Finance still hadn't published the most recent labor reports. Perhaps if she could get a missive down to their office to get an update on the situation...
"Um...Princess Izumi," the new court painter said, with more than a bit of hesitation. She still was young, just having inherited the post after a long apprenticeship under her father.
Izumi felt a pang of empathy and tried to correct her posture. "I'm making this terribly difficult for you, aren't I? I can never sit still for these."
"No, not at all," the other woman said. "It's only you may seem the tiniest bit tense."
"Tense is putting it mildly. Iz, you're wound up tighter than a boar-q-pine in a balloon factory."
Izumi's eyes softened as she turned her gaze towards the doorway. "What are you doing here?"
Bumi leaned against the gilded door frame, wearing a grin that exuded mischief. "It was a harrowing journey. There I was, alone on the water, in a rowboat with no oars and a sea serpent on my tail that made the Unagi look like an anchovy. Nowhere to turn, I tapped a beat against the boat that charmed a pair of dolphin-fish into bringing me all the way to you."
She laughed like she hadn't in months, unrestrained, face flushed. He had always known how to catch her off guard. "So you hitched a ride with your father?"
"You always understood me." He closed the distance between them then, making sure to keep out of the portraitist's line of sight.
Izumi lifted a sole finger and sent a gentle flame to singe the bison fur off his jacket and trousers. "Appa may have helped this time."
"Wanna grab a drink when you're done here? My dad said the talks won't start until tomorrow."
She sighed a bit. "It could be hours."
"In that case, I'll bring the drinks to you." He pulled a flask from the inside pocket of his maroon jacket then, raising his eyebrows suggestively. "You in the mood for fire whiskey or spiced wine?"
"Bumi," she chided, despite the grin threatening to split her face.
"Whiskey, then. I got it. Until then, drop your shoulders, un-clench those fists, relax your jaw." He left a trail of kisses along her jawline to punctuate the point, by now far less concerned with the painter's vantage point. The feeling of his lips on her skin was like lightning, bliss. "I'll be back to entertain you in no time."

Season 1, ep 5, p2
Kazan and Meelo yawned sleepily, full from dinner. "That was really good, (Y/N)." Pema complimented, rubbing her belly happily. "Glad you liked it Auntie." You then turned to your Aunt Rene who was sulking in the corner with a smug grin. "So, Auntie, thoughts?" you teased, making her start. "Listen little boy! Don't you dare give me attitude just because you're a better cook than me!" Everyone laughed at the banter between you two. "It's late, and the children are sleepy, why don't you guys sleep here for the night? Nagisa can sleep with Jinora and Ikki, and Kazan can bunk with Meelo." Pema suggested.
"Yay! Sleepover!" cheered Ikki and Nagisa much to Jinora's annoyance. "Here, I'll help but the boys to sleep, Uncle."He smiled appreciatively at you, grabbing Meelo while you carried Kazan. "You did good tonight, nephew." Tenzin said, leading the way to the boys' room. "You heard from the radio?" you tilted your head, adjusting your grip on the young firebender. "No, I saw from the corner. You really are your parent's son."
You stared at his back in shock before smiling. "Heh, thanks Uncle."
*That night*
You inhaled the fresh air as you and Nevermore walked to the arena to get ready. But stop seeing Mako and Korra each facing different ways, and leaned against a pole, out of their sight line. "What kind of game are you playing?" asked the Firebender. "Um, pro-bending? We have a quarter final match." Korra stated like it was the most obvious thing. "No, I mean with Bolin. You got him all in a tizzy, and I know you're only using him to get back at me." Mako accused. 'Ooh bad move, Mako.'
"I am not. We're just having fun. What do you care, anyway?" Korra defended. "I'm looking out for my little brother. I don't want to see his heart get broken." 'That is such bull.' you laughed silently. Korra knew it was too, "Wait a second. You're not worried about him; you're jealous," Korra was smirking and you were too. "You do have feelings for me." Mako didn't miss a beat. "What? Jealous? Don't be ridiculous."
"Admit it, you like me." Korra didn't realize she was playing with fire, quite literally. "No, I'm with Asami." "Yeah, but when you're with her, you're thinking about me, aren't you?" The Avatar sounded so smug right now, and you were silently rooting for her. "Get over yourself." Mako snapped. "I'm just being honest!" "You're crazy!" Mako denied. "You're a liar!" cried Korra.
That was when you decided to step in. You splashed the two with water you kept in your pocket, and sent your teammates a raised eye brow. "If you two hot heads are done, we do have a match to go to." You then walked away, your pony tail swinging behind you. You stopped the two from entering the room and to keep Bolin from getting him involved.
"Listen you two, don't bring this energy around Bolin. And while you are out on that ring, keep your personal feelings out of it. We've come too far for you two to mess it up. Am I clear?" The younger teens looked at each other and sighed, when Nevermore snapped her jaws for good measure. "Yes, sir." "Good, I'll be here when the match is over." You walked in and over to the railing, waiting for the match to start.
*15 minutes later*
"Eight teams have been eliminated, and eight advance into the quarter finals, which get underway tonight. The rookies are about to take on the former and longest running champs--the Boar-Q-Pines. Youth clashes with experience in a battle for the ages or rather of the ages. Korra dodges and--ooh slams right into her teammate! Down goes Mako, and Bolin and Korra." You face palm and growled as the second announcer said, "Round One goes to the Boar-Q-Pines."
Your (e/c) eyes narrow, noting Mako was saying something to Korra in a very aggressive way. Poor Bolin looked so confused. The waterbender part of you wanted to switch out with Korra, but the airbender part of you, reminded your that this was how Korra and Mako were going to make up. Nevermore nuzzled your cheek making you chuckle and rub her head. "Thanks, girl."
"The Ferrets looking to mount some offense here in round 2. Bolin lets fly a flurry of attacks. He's a one man bending battalion." "Yes! Way to go, Bolin!" You cheered for the Earthbender. "The Ferrets having a tough time finding their rhythm tonight. But thanks to Bolin, they narrowly notch round two."
Round 3 started and at this point the crowd noticed their was something wrong as well. "Not sure, what's eatin' them, but this is not the same team that took out the Rabbaroos." You winced in sympathy as the Avatar took Earth disk to the stomach. "Round 3 is a tie. We go to a tie breaker to decide the match." A referee tossed a blue and red coin into the air, and caught it, covering it up.
He moved his hand to reveal the red side. "The Fire Ferrets win the coin toss. Which element do you choose?" Immediately the three tried to decide who would go to fight, until Bolin stepped up with the older Earthbender. "Looks like the Earthbenders will collide in the tie breaker face off. Bolin goes in for the grapple, Chang reverses." You grit your teeth as Bolin was flung into the air but cheered when he fired from mid air.
"Bolin strikes from mid air, knocking Chang to the edge of the circle, and another strike from Bolin, knocking Chang into the drink!" "The Future Industries Fire Ferrets win their quarter final match!" You, Mako, and Korra sighed in relief as the announce continued talking. "Ooh, close one folks, youth trumps experience tonight."
You met the trio at the edge and grinned at Bolin. "Good job, Bo! You were awesome out there!" You watched as Korra and Mako went their separate ways. You sighed, and walked over to Mako and whispered in his ear, "You better get your act right, Mako. You maybe my best friend, but I won't hesitate to kick your ass." He looked at you with wide eyes, knowing you were dead serious. "Hey, (Y/N), come with me! I need your help!" Bolin dragged you out the room, making you laugh.
*Time skip*
You and Bolin walked up to where Korra could be hiding and you stopped seeing Korra and Mako kissing. 'Are they kidding me?!' "Wait, Bo, don't--"
You were too late, as he stopped seeing the scene in front of you. You hid half your face in your hand, Nevermore trying to hide her head in your hair. It was silent until Bolin started crying and ran away. "Wait, Bolin, this isn't what you think!" He turned to Korra with a glare on his face. "Great! Look what you did." "You're blaming me?" demanded Korra.
"You kissed me!" "You kissed me back!" Both gasped being splashed with freezing cold water, and turned to you. Nevermore's teeth were drawn back into a snarl, and you had a dangerous look on your face. "It doesn't matter. You are both at fault! Now what matters is how the hell you are going to fix it." You and Nevermore growled as Mako groaned and ran after his brother. You turned to the city view and didn't even look at the Water Tribe girl.
"Korra, I know you've been isolated all your life, and you probably thought you would get your happily ever after with Mako. But there's so many fish in the sea for you to explore with. Don't settle for the small fry." "Well played, Korra." she said, hugging herself. "Live and learn, Korra." you sighed, "Live and learn."
*The next morning.*
You followed Mako into the restaurant. "Morning, Narook. Is my brother here?" The man behind the counter gestured behind you guys, and Mako waved in thanks. "Thanks." He walked over to Bolin and shook his shoulder. "Come on, wake up. I'm taking you home, bro." That cause Bolin to sniff and look up sadly.
"Don't call me that. You're not my brother!" He drunkenly slapped Mako's hands away from him. "You're a brother-betrayer." He sobbed into his arms. "The only ones I can trust: are Pabu and (Y/N)! They love me!" "You're a mess, and we've got the biggest of our lives tonight. Let's go." Mako tried grabbing Bolin who screamed at him. "No! I'm not going anywhere with you traitor!" You sighed, pushing Mako and grinning at Bolin.
"Come on, Bo. I need my favorite Earthbender to fight with me tonight!" He finally got up with his arm slung over your shoulder. "Only you Bolin, can drunk off Water Tribe Noodles." You laugh gently. "I told you dating a teammate was a bad idea." Mako sighed. "You're a bad idea!" You laugh at their antics, even if you were pissed at Mako.
*That night*
You finished braiding your hair so it hung down your back, and out of your face, as Korra walked into the room. She looked at Bolin slouching on a bench, and noticed you over at the mirror. You were lost in thought, but it was clear something was bothering you. You suddenly snapped out of it and stood up, putting your helmet on. "Let's go guys. And leave your personal feelings here."
"You can't find a team more evenly matched. In age, size, and strength than the Fire Ferrets and the Buzzard Wasps. Believe me, I looked." he joked. "This should be a pulse-pounding semi-final, folks." The bell rang and the Buzzards fought first. "The Buzzard-Wasps open with a flawlessly executed combo. 2 of the Ferrets take an early visit to Zone 2, and Mako's knocked all the way back into Zone 3! The Ferrets have been struggling to stay alive since the opening bell. It seems Bolin and Mako are out of sync tonight. (Y/N) taking the brunt of the impact from the front lines."
The crowd groaned with Bolin as he was hit in the gut, hard. "Ooh, that has got to sting." You heard retching and groaned, knowing it was Bolin. "And Bolin looses his noodles, literally." All the players seem to have froze with that disgusting scene. "Which reminds me, this match is brought to you by our sponsor, Flamey-O-Instant Noodles. 'Noodlest- Noodles in the United Republic.' " Soon Bolin was knocked back into Zone 3 with Mako, leaving you to get defend from Zone 1.
You were suddenly knocked into Zone 3 by an Earth disk, while avoiding a flame burst. "The Buzzard Wasps fly deeper into Ferret Territory. And Mako plunges into the pool. Can the Fire Ferrets hold on?" You and Bolin looked at each other and continued to fight with all you got. "The Ferrets are backed to the edge now, and are saved by the bell! They had better pull themselves together, folks, for round two. Otherwise they can kiss their finals goodbye. "
"Round 2!" You used water in a arch to knock two of the Buzzards back into Zone 2. "Oh, what a strong start from (Y/N)!" Mako groaned being knocked into Zone 2, and sent fire towards them, hitting Bolin in the process. He cried out, and turned onto his back to glare at Mako. "Hey, watch it!" He gasped being knocked into the water, from his distraction. "The Wasps take advantage of Mako's unforced error, and move forward."
You and Mako spun your elements together and knocked the opposing Water and Earth benders out and into the drink giving the round to you guys. Round 3 came and you looked between the boys. "Look, we've been working for a long time for this. Get your heads in the game guys. Please." You begged slightly; they knew what this tournament meant to you. "Let's get this over with." Mako sighed.
When the match started, Mako was already in the drink, and Bolin's shoulder was messed up,and then he was in the drink. "The Ferret's dream of making it to the finals rests on Councilman (Y/N)'s shoulders." You smirked to yourself, used your waterbending to get the team into a line of three, and knocked them down like dominoes. "It's the big kaboosh! What a knockout!"
The crowd went wild and you could hear Mako and Bolin cheering for you. "It didn't seem possible folks, but the Fire Ferrets are headed to the finals." You laughed, waving to the crowd, before walking away. You took your helmet off and groaned when Korra gave you a big hug. "Korra! Korra! I need my....lungs...to breathe." "Oh! Sorry!" she sheepishly let you go. "Sometimes, I forget about my own strength." You sent her a lopsided smile, "It's okay, Korra." Bolin and Mako walked up to you.
"That was pretty much the coolest thing I've ever seen." "Thanks for not giving up on us; we never would've made this far without your level head. We owe you big time." You rolled your eyes, walking past them, taking your helmet off. The three looked at each other, uncertain. "(Y/N)--" "Look, I know things are confusing between the three of you, but this team means everything to me, and the last thing I need is for some petty love triangle is to mess it up."
Your sudden attitude caught the other's off guard; you were usually so carefree and cool. You got ready to leave the room when your ex walked in, making a scene. "Ooh, ooh, you boys smell something in here?" Tahno pinched his nose before smirking. "Oh, wait I know what that is. Yeah, it's the scent of losers." "I hope we see you in the finals. Then we'll see who the real losers really are." Korra said back.
"Yeah, I'm peeing my pants over here." Tahno said confidently before turning to you, with a very faint blush on his cheeks. "I'll win this match for you, (Y/N). Maybe we can go out to that Water Tribe restaurant you like so much." You turned to him with a bored look and said, "Gag me. We are not together anymore, Tahno, I just can't trust you." You brushed your bangs into your face and left without another word.
You ran into Asami in the hallway. "Oh, hey Asami." she hugged you and took a step back, noting your mood. "Great job! What a comeback! I--Hey...what's the matter?" she asked, green eyes shining earnestly. "Nothing, why don't you go see you boyfriend." You began to walk away when she grabbed your arm.
"Hey, you don't need to be strong around me, (Y/N), you've been there for me when I needed it. You can talk to me--" "No! I can't talk to anyone and especially not you because on of my main problems is I'm in love with you, and I just think you're wrong for Mako because he and Korra kissed and they belong together and I--" Asami cut you off by hugging you tightly, your arms tight around her waist. "(Y/N), I-I didn't know you felt that way." You took her hand in yours and kissed the top of it, locking eyes with her.
"Asami..." you left it at that and walked away, leaving her to her thoughts.
You ran to where you hid Neo, and hugged him with all your might, begging your tears not to fall, and while the polar bear dog didn't know what caused your pain, he simply nudged you with as much warmth as possible. You took such good care of him, it hurt him to see you so upset.
You sniffed, and looked into Neo's blue eyes with a watery smile.
"Let's go home, boy."
