Just a thought, but we don't know anything about Toshinori's parents right? What if AFO was Toshinori's father?

The sheer potential for pain with this concept is off the charts. AFO had a fling with a random quirkless woman because she was never going to be a threat. However, he never found out she was pregnant because he up and vanished on her, leaving her to suffer the consequences of being a single, pregnant, quirkless mother.

Years later, when AFO sees Toshinori with Nana he recognises his own blood thanks to one of his quirks.

He kills Nana because she's the only thing standing between him and his son. His son who wields OFA, and isn't that just so incredibly ironic? The woman trying to defeat him gave the very quirk he wanted to his own flesh and blood.

When Toshinori first fights AFO after Nana's death, AFO tells him the truth of his parentage and Toshinori snaps. It nearly kills them both, AFO deciding if his son won't join him then he'll just have to take the quirk and work on 'convincing' him that villainy is the right path.

Toshinori's father becomes his greatest shame and a secret that no one else knows.

Giving Izuku OFA was a spur of the moment decision, and something he regrets in the months afterwards. Not because Izuku is the wrong choice, no, he's perfect, but because this poor innocent boy who just wanted to make a difference is about to go up against Toshinori's own father. The very monster that Toshinori has been keeping hidden in his closet.

Might actually do something more with this at a later date because I think his is a really fun concept but in the mean time, it's free to use! As always, just tag me so I can squeal over your creation!

Hello! Also thank you for the very fun questions, this was great to answer!

I'll do the name first as it's a quicker response. redrocketpanda is a mash up of Red Rocket (as in the red rocket truck stop from Fallout 4) and Red Panda (as in the animal). The story behind those is that I had recently played Fallout 4 (and am a fan of the entire franchise) and have big heart eyes for the Fallout aesthetic, and that although *I* think I would be a lion if I was a non-human animal, some of my close friends + ex partner joke that I'd actually be a red panda (small, tries to be big but isn't scary, red)

I was informed recently (as in last year) that it can also have a different meaning depending on what subcultures you're in but I choose to ignore that bc I didn't know at the time lmao

In terms of the chunkier part of the question - top 10 favourite fics ever - I will admit that I've never read much fic outside of smut for Reasons (as such my list will be quite heavy on smut and kink so heads up for that). I would def like to read more but tend to write more than I read.

Inhibitions

Todoroki gets zapped by a Quirk that effectively lowers someone's inhibitions, and Aizawa deals with the strange, humorous, heart-breaking fallout.

The train ride back is something of a nightmare. Not because it goes badly, or because something awful happens, but because Aizawa can’t get rid of this feeling in his chest every time he sees Todoroki’s unusual, carefree smile. He looks like nothing has ever hurt him.

Shouto's life is a deck of precariously stacked cards, and one online article about Endeavour's approach to parenting sends the whole thing tumbling down. Not everyone believes it. Half the public denies it. But even if it turns out there's no truth in the article, the staff at U.A. are under enough fire as it is, and sending Shouto home for the upcoming week-long break is inexcuseable in the eyes of the press.

Not to mention, Aizawa wouldn't stand for it anyway.

Or: Shouto spends a week or two hiding from the world in his teacher's house, where he is introduced to Animal Crossing, the sweetest cat in the world, and the bizarre concept of feeling safe in his own home.

The Secret Deku Box

“Y’know, Bakugou never, ever talks about girls,” Kaminari says, his voice thoughtful.

“And I wonder why that is.” Ashido rolls her eyes.

“I’m just curious!” Kaminari whines. Kirishima drags the box out, unlabeled and unassuming, the lid not even fully clasped over the edges. “The guy has to— Whoa, what’s that?”

Kirishima realizes a little belatedly that this is a serious breach of privacy, and Bakugou will actually murder all of them. “Nothing!” he cries, attempting to shove it back under the bed, but Ashido snatches it away.

“Please be his porn stash!” Kaminari whispers as she whips the lid off.

No raisins? How about a date?

Izuku steps inside and shuts the door behind him. Uraraka’s lying on her back in bed, reading a shoujo manga. “I just realised Kacchan’s handsome. He was minding his own business and I tried to touch his lips. Am I a pervert? Am I gay?”

“That’s a little gay, yeah,” Uraraka says, sitting up. Izuku flops into a boneless, dramatic heap on the floor and helps himself to the chips on her low table. “I think it’s normal to notice someone’s attractive, though. Like, Bakugou is good-looking, unfortunately, so I doubt it’s all that weird to think about kissing him a couple times. Do you like him?”

“I,” Izuku says and then pauses. “I don’t know. I’ve never had a crush before.”

“Can you imagine going on a date?”

“Hrkl,” says Izuku.

“Oh dear,” says Uraraka.

It was at this point that Bakugou, to Aizawa's horror, and the rest of the class's utter disbelief, promptly burst into tears.

Been watching a Fallout 4 YOLO run and trying to think of a Fallout BNHA AU and what everyone would be/their expertise/what faction they might be in, if any/their potential part in the lore...

alright i want to apologise in advance a bit, because I recently tripped and fell into another BNHA fixation, and it's sorta getting in the way of my other stuff.

So. If I look as if I've jumped fandoms for the next however long...I really haven't. I just added to the pile, and I'm returning to my old VR AU because holy ensemble cast, it sure does scratch that itch.

...is it bad that ensemble casts are basically a prerequisite for any fandom I might get invested in enough to write for?

Anyway, not the point. The point is that I'm channelling my current obsession into NaNo this year (as co-ML for Kent's region I try to give it my all when I participate!), so I'm afraid everything else is probably not going to get much love for the next few weeks or so.

Probably. I know what I'm like, and I usually find it hard to stick to one project at a time, especially if I don't want to burn out. TBH, that's the other reason I'm doing this - so far, the only part of this AU i've posted is a standalone prequel fic which no one really cared about anyway because it had no ships. So if I burn out and this goes nowhere, at least I haven't left anyone hanging, right?

Also, if you want to take a peek at any of the decidedly excessive worldbuilding notes I've been putting together for the last couple of weeks, just hit me up. So far there's like...10k of it, including my musings on how the hell to turn quirks into VR hacks which make sense on a digital platform. Some of these are more straightforward than others, let me tell you.

I am also decidedly in love with how OFA/AFO works in this setting, but that's for me to know and you to find out if I ever get as far as posting this damn thing.

also also dropping this here because I can and it gives you a bit of an idea of the setting: In the AU, basically the surface of the planet got screwed over a couple of hundred years ago, and everyone lives underground, logging into a VR world where they can roleplay as pre-disaster humans for the sake of their sanity for their waking hours. Quirks are basically government-sanctioned hacks which people apply to their VR accounts, because ultimately it was easier to legitimise and legislate them than try and get people to stop doing that. A chief problem in the story is dealing with the fallout of an entire world of people who no longer remember how to touch grass. (It's a lot more serious than this, but basically my planning seriousness is inversely proportionate to the tone of the fic itself, and I just. I cannot talk about my work in any other way.)

Here's a snippet from my planning document to give you an example:

Aizawa is just a regular-ass dude who got his hero licence in spite of his Exploit rather than because of it. He’s also IRL ripped because his eye problems aren’t exactly conducive to 16 hours of screentime a day. This is why no fucker has heard of him, because all his heroics happen in short, irate bursts before he logs out to dose up on fucking eye drops.

His chief strength in this AU is not a borderline gamebreaking exploit, it’s the fact that he can, like, actually function in the real world a hell of a lot better than most folks.

Which meeeeeeaans, that he becomes 1A's teacher in the real world, after they all realise they need to buff up for this shit because they’re (mostly) totally clueless on how to function outside of the Interface. In this fic, UA is basically 1A's super secret offline school where they learn proper fitness and agility, and the physical, mechanical skills they’re gonna need in order to pull off the heist of the century. Hahaha, Aizawa is gonna be That Guy who is super strict about everyone’s screen time lmao.

Ahhhh thank you so much for your ask, Llyn! I love getting responses to ask games. It's gives me an opportunity to ramble about the most random things, lol

3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?

Something that I've always tried to do with my fics is about descriptions, and I'm gonna try to explain it properly. There's always a risk of writing too much description. With too much description, you get something akin to Tolkien that is vivid but it drags the storyline/pacing down. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE visualizing a scene and wanting to write down LITERALLY EVERYTHING, but that's not practical.

For me, I try to only put the barest information about setting (if it's important) and focus on the characters and their blocking through the scene. This ensures that the story isn't bogged down with unnecessary descriptions but gets the important parts solidified in the reader's mind.

One example is in my first bnha story Those Damn Flowers, where young Aizawa was walking down a hall as he reflected on recent events. It could have been a hall at UA, his home, or some other place; point is, it wasn't important. It lets every reader have a unique perspective on the scene's setting (and, by proxy, Aizawa's clothes and the people around him) while keeping the important parts (Aizawa's thought process and physical reactions to them) unchanging.

14. Are there any tropes you would only read if written by a trusted friend or writer?

Noticing really comes to mind, tbh. I get most of the fics I read through AO3feed blogs, and I don't really pay attention to the author. If the summary looks good, I check it out, simple as that.

That being said, if I had to give an answer, I don't really read most fantastical AUs (i.e., fantasy/dragon, steampunk, fallout, space/alien, etc.), HOWEVER, if a trusted friend or writer wrote something in one of those more fantastical AUs, I'd give it a shot.

49. What are you currently working on? Share a few lines if you’re up for it!

I've been writing/posting some weird stuff lately, lol. Most recently, it was 'No Cure' (one of my favorites), but before that it was 'You call it 'torturing', I call it 'mercy killing'. Same difference' and 'Do you know how to tell where a corpse is buried?'. Real snappy titles, I know.

The next thing I'm planning on posting is on the 19th, and it's the final chapter of my biggest story yet, Heaven And Earth Between Us. Here are a few paragraphs from Chapter 6: New Beginnings (censored so no spoilers!):

Toshihiro’Máni met the Death god’s gaze. “I wish for compassion on this soul,” he said. “He did not understand the weight of his actions and died unecessarily.” [Death god] gazed at the corpse before raising an eyebrow at Toshihiro’Máni. “I take it you’re another god?”

“Yes, I control the Moon and the stars. Please, will you help him?”

Hands reached forward and lifted [Victim]’s body out of Toshihiro’Máni’s hands. “Please,” the Moon god found himself begging. “He doesn’t deserve this fate.”

“And you think no one else was undeserving of theirs?” [Color] eyes flashed, pinning Toshihiro’Máni where he stood. “People die all the time, some deserving their fate, others innocent. Your friend is a drop in the bucket.”

Toshihiro’Máni gulped at the sudden anger, but pressed onward: “I just want to save one. And if I can make a difference to one person, that will be enough for me.

“Everyone I know has saved countless lives,” he continued, the faces of Aizawa, Midoriya, Kirishima, …Katsuki flickering in his mind’s eye. “But all I can do is prevent bad dreams. If I can save just one…” tears sprang to his eyes. “...that will be enough for me!”

Kacchako AU

So I’ve had this idea stuck in my head for a real long time and figured I may as well share it with the fandom 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is an AU that centres around Bakugou and Uraraka in a post-nuclear world. A lot of the motivation behind this has come from my hyperfixation with the Fallout series and I believe with a fiery passion that the world deserves a BNHA/Fallout crossover AU.

If you’re interested to see inside my head, here is a wee bit of what I’ve written so far...

The first time he had seen the surface had also been the last time he had seen anyone he loved.

The day was so momentous in itself that it’s gravity had spurned the impetual pendulum of guilt in the back of his analytical mind. In his head, it was the worst day of his life.

Heat had screamed at his back as he ran; arms pumping, lungs aching and throat screaming as billows of smoke rolled from the wreckage behind him, thick streams of it chasing his body down the twisted expanse of rock and dirt in dark colours. He had escaped the vault, but his parents had not, and like a heated iron pressed to skin, the night had seared itself into his memory perfectly, every detail crystal clear for Katsuki to reflect upon.

That day marked his first time seeing the universe’s stars, melancholy with everything else happening. The Old World pictures hung ornately on the Vault’s library walls - hundreds of metres below the surface - were nothing in comparison to the real thing. Ripping his eyes from the beautiful black expanse had been close to impossible. Everything he had seen as a child had been painted metal and polished stone, too small, too cold, and too harsh to ever possibly love. The stars had stolen away his breath and he gazed greedily at the rich splendour laid openly above him. Maybe it had also been the first time he had fallen in love.

With the last steps out of his underground prison, he had felt his innocence stolen away. There was no more sanctuary from the nuclear devastation now, no more false pretences could be fostered about life on the surface, and now there was no more family to guide his steps.

He had taken very few steps out onto the Earth’s outer crust before the picturesque stars above had taken his hand and offered a comfort that he stole away with ardent desperation. He’d been fooled into thinking that maybe it would be okay.

He was free.

But he was also just a boy that could claim to be many things. The only thing claiming him though, was the harsh reality of his utter isolation. Leaving the vault had meant freedom, but faced with that, he felt that the anxiety of an unknown future suffocating him. He was alone, and with no one to tell him it would be okay, Katsuki tried to catch the rough sob in his chest, only to whimper agaisnt the wind.

He wished there had never been any problems, and then he wished there had been more time before all his problems came crashing down around him in large shards of metallic shrapnel. He had cursed the world, and waited for his parents to scold him at the use of such language, then when silence was his only scold, his gut wrenched disgustingly. The lack of reply was all too evident, and he was absolutely alone.

He was so alone.

Time hadn’t allowed him his grief, he had to leave. If the rough tremors that had been shaking the Earth beneath his feet and disrupting his vision meant anything other than the succession of his plan, it meant also that the distance between him and his home, his vault, and his parents, was too little. Black smoke spilt from the entrance he’d left, the sparks of rampant fire silhouetting burning structures on the other side and he knew he wouldn’t make it.

In a sickening way, Bakugou knew he could never have possibly been free. The day was the start of his end, so with no time to wipe away the salty tears cascading brilliantly down his ashen face, Bakugou Katsuki tore his red eyes from the beautiful night sky and ran for his life.

As he neared the bottom of the artificial hill hiding the civilisation responsible for his upbringing beneath his soles, his world exploded. He ran with everything he possessed, hurtling down the side of the rocky burial grounds of Vault 46, backpack strapped tightly to his spine. And as the explosion caught him, his thoughts drfited to the stars.

Katsuki marveled at their beauty in the never ending night, he was awed at how they weren’t dimming even as the entire world around him became engulfed in the flames of his explosion. Every moment of his existence had been slowly spreading red through his mind, and now all he could do, was stare as the sky above flooded with a red so vibrant it quickly became the only thing he could see.

Size chart for the Post-apocalyptic au :)

I'm really proud of the coloring guys even though my camera does a bad job of showing it. What I did was I put the grey tones down first and then I colored over it and I really liked the effect.

Also Deku's shirt is supposed to say "Dirty Shirt" but I dont know if that's actually what it ended up saying sense I used Google translate and part of it's cover up by the jacket :/ Also I might change his jeans because I'm not quite sure that I like holes now that I colored them.

Do y'all ever plan for fanfics that's you'll never write?

Because frankly a good chuck of my time yesterday and a bit of today have been spent jotting down notes for a BNHA Post Apocalyptic Au that I'll most likely never write because the act of writing the story itself is a drag and I cant work myself up to actually writing and words are messy and I have no idea what I'm doing :/
