One aspect of BNHA's themes that I genuinely enjoy is the emphasis of saving as something completed through a mutual understanding of the saver and the saved.

Saving isn't depicted as the unilateral decision of the powerful person doing the saving. The person in danger needs to want to be saved and believe they can be saved. Eri wasn't saved because Izuku and Mirio were strong enough to defeat Overhaul. Eri was saved because she realized they would never give up on trying to save her, and Eri responded by deciding that she truly wanted to be saved.

Bakugou was saved in Kamino because the Bakugou Rescue Squad worked to save him and because Bakugou chose to reach out his hand to be saved by Kirishima. Twice wasn't saved in part because Twice did not believe in being saved or that Hawks could save him.

It's just interesting that saving isn't depicted as a one-sided power fantasy, but as a mutual act of cooperation.

48. What’s the last fic you read? Do you recommend it?

I can't remember which fic I read last so I will give a couple.

Pocketramblr's "An Ordinary Padawan (Unordinary Questions)." I highly recommend it! The whole series is soooo good. It's a BNHA-Star Wars crossover with amazing worldbuilding. The character development is very complex.

Asher_is_Awkward's "Terror from the Deep" is a cool spinoff of my fic "The End of the Story." In a fantasy universe, All for One is a good uncle to Tomura and a good person trying to end the sea monster threat...or is he? Amazing mer worldbuilding and fascinating mystery.

Finally, "Give Me Your Hand and I’ll Guide You Home" by Suugiart. A Yoichi lives AU where he gets involved in raising Tomura and tries to protect him from All for One's influence. Both fluffy and full of delicious angst.

keep me safe in your arms with 4.1K hits which makes sense because the DSMP fandom is insane. It's a 5+1 fluff fic where Technoblade just gets hugs. Yeah that's right Stardust, it's a fluff fic.

Second Most Kudos

i hurt(but for you it is worth it) got 405 kudos which is insane to me. I literally posted this in August and it's only been a month. I did not realize how much attention this fic would get and I definitely want to continue it, just have no idea when lmao. It's a Star Wars eventually Codywan AU fic where the Jedi literally get hurt from other people's feelings. You know the phrase "words hurt more than actions?" yeah they actually hurt.

Third Most Comments

My third most comments is also the Hug fic so I guess I'll do my fourth most comments? It's an Original Work Christmas gift fic where I just wrote mini drabble poems about all the wonderful people I interact w/ on the Stardust server. It's called love letters to the stars w/ 17 comment threads. It's really just all my friends commenting on the fic.

Fourth Most Bookmarks

20 Demigods Go on a Journey (To Hunt Their Parents) at 68 bookmarks, short BNHA one shot. It's based on a writing prompt on this site actually where normal mortals go march to Mount Olympus to beat up Zeus, but it's the entirety of Class 1-A who are all Demigods.

Fifth Most Words

Fifth most words is the same as fourth most bookmarks. I'm surprised there's only somehow 1 DSMP fic on here damn. I can't even do 4th most words or 6th most words because those fics are already on here. Uhhhh I'll take this space to shoutout to the fic that got me active in Stardust: the ashes of trust which is a DSMP fic inspired by another DSMP fic.

Wings with 156 words. It's a shitty poem I wrote for school where I was inspired by Skip Beat but had to remove most of the names so I don't seem more insane than I already am.

He spent his whole life perfecting permeation even though it's incredibly difficult and dangerous to activate and then he went and gave himself a free-flowing object a few feet away from his physical body he now has to account for every time he wants to pass through anything. I mean Yeah it's cute he did the thing with Eri but is it worth dragging that thing along wi--

Eri's grandfather saw her quirk as something similar to Shigaraki's - "the power to annihilate". Overhaul discovered that Eri's quirk was actually rewinding living things, but it's easy to see why the boss thought her quirk was destruction. The mechanism might be completely different - rewinding out of existence (Eri) versus breaking things down into particles (Overhaul and Shigaraki), but the end result was still destruction.

It's unfortunate the narrative never did anything with the potential foil that is Kotaro and the Shie Hassaikai boss. There is a parallel between Kotaro and Eri's mom in that after Eri and Tenko accidentally killed one parent after losing control of their quirks, the other parent rejected them.

But the contrast between the Shie Hassaikai boss and Kotaro is crunchy. The boss accepted Eri even with her quirk and acted in what he believed was in her best interest versus Kotaro who rejected Tenko. The boss's issue was that he was a bad judge of character of what help to turn to for Eri...and/or potentially a lack of resources to address quirks like Eri or Tenko's even with well meaning guardians like the boss.

The Shie Hassaikai boss, like Kotaro, was the patriarch who controlled his "house" in that he set the values that everyone else was expected to follow. The boss tried to reform Chisaki by bringing him into the yakuza so he would have a strict moral code to follow, but Chisaki only adopted the hierarchy and the bare bones of an ambition while abandoning everything else. The boss was shown trying to engage in a dialogue with Chisaki multiple times during his flashbacks. Kotaro, on the other hand, reacted aggressively to any challenge to his worldview and his ideal home even when that challenge can from his own young child. There's something about how one of the villains was shown to be one of the more well intentioned guardians (the Shie Hassaikai boss) versus several of the worst parents in BNHA being civilians (Kotaro, Eri's mom, Toga's parents, etc.)

Questions after BNHA 156

MY MANY QUESTIONS THOUGHTS AND THEORIES It's spoilers so under the cut

1.) Ok. Eri's quirk. If the accurate translation is rewind, can it actually destroy quirks or rewind to the point of non-existance? So like, the point before the quirk manifested?

2.) If it is rewinded to the point before it manifested, can it manifest again? Like was Mirio's quirk set to 0 (like when he was a baby) and in 4-5 years it will re-manifest?

3.) Does the above even matter? Can she rewind what was already rewinded? Is it possible for her to restore his quirk?

4.) If it's not "rewind" but "undo", how does it get rid of quirks? And again, can she undo what she already undid?

5.) Can she rewind/undo All Might's injuries? What about One For All and the fact that it was given to Izuku? Could she potentially undo that? If so, how will that play out? This is Izuku's story, so I'm sure he'll keep OFA... So will All Might choose to die in order to allow Izuku to keep it? Can she restore his health without restoring his quirk? What about Nighteye's prediction?

6.) On the flip side, could she rewind/undo All for One? But I guess that would eliminate the purpose of Shigaraki..

(Honestly speaking, I think Mirio will remain quirkless. I don't think she can undo/rewind what was already undid/rewinded. I do think it's possible for it to manifest again in 5 years, then he has to retrain it and everything)

MOVING ON

7.) WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO AIZAWA??? Like is he ok is he kidnapped will we see him again will there have to be another rescue operation or will he get out by himself OR will he be unable to use his eyes/quirk ahhHhhH Aizawa

8.) whAT is GOING TO HAPPEN TO NIGHTEYE? I feel like he might die.... like I don't think everyone can live through this and his death is the most likely....

9.) His! Prediction! About! Izuku! Dying! Will Izuku "bend the future" and not die simply because of that? Will Toga die while shifted into Izuku? Will Izuku die but be rewinded by Eri?

Going back to Mirio sorta

10.) If he does remain quirkless/cannot use his quirk again for 5 years/has to retrain to the point he is now aka like 12 years aka he can't be a hero for 17-18 years, wHAT WILL TAMAKI DO?

11.) Will he feel responsible for this in anyway? Will he still become a hero without Mirio there? Is he confident enough in himself for that? Or will he give up on his dream too? Or plan on waiting for him???????????

Those are all the questions/thoughts I have after 156 agffffggHHh

Be kind rewind

Doesn't this chapter imply that the bullet formula rewinds a person's Quirk straight out of existence? I don't understand what kind of serum could undo that process, and I don't think that Eri will be the one to fix up Lemillion. How could she rewind something that's already been rewound all the way? The formula is not the same thing as her Quirk, but it should have similar properties.

Also, shouldn't people who've temporarily lost their Quirks go through some kind of struggle to redevelop their abilities, or does the reversal process come undone all at once? Could a similar fast-forward property apply to Eri’s Quirk?

It definitely seems more like physical regression than time travel. When her father touched her, his body probably regressed rapidly back to a stage before he was even born. There's no coming back from that. There's clearly some stage at which recovery is possible, but it's not like his mother could have given birth to him a second time. Eri didn't change the timeline so that her father had never existed; his physical form just regressed into nothingness.

I'm so curious about how this Quirk works and what the consequences are. I really hope that the details don't get glossed over.
