Now then, regardless of recent developments, I must still maintain at least some form of professionalism when giving my statements. Not a single message or abrupt distraction will change that.

Further unscheduled movement has taken place, not that it should surprise me at this point. The entirety of this job shall wear my patience thin by its end, so I have decided any movement that takes place within the premises shall be ignored for the sake of my own temper at this point. Further, I'd prefer to have it on record that espionage was not my original focus when taking this job.

Certain select files do catch my interest, anything pertaining to the BMCQ naturally does. Most namely, it was Freeman himself who "pulled the plug" shall we say, rather than administration as I had originally thought. Not that it surprises me exactly. Black Mesa's administration team wasn't exactly known for their good will and judgement. But what astonishes me is that it wasn't that simple per say. Freeman called for the cancellation of the project multiple times and was turned around without another word each of those times. Administration only agreed following the inferno that destroyed the better part of their investment, and that is likely no coincidence.

It is intriguing at the very least, though perhaps only to me.

What's more is for a few months, the project was inconclusive. The tests had come up void and empty and the higher ups weren't exactly too pleased. I'd imagine an investment like that isn't quite something you scrap when it goes south, so further pressure was deemed necessary despite it not being up to the researchers whether the device picked up a signal or not. I wouldn't call it "fair" exactly, but what more would you expect from the same company who allowed the 200X incident to occur? Truly, their incompetence is rivaled only by my current employers.

Speaking of the Devil, before I could have the chance to finish this report, I had received a secondary call from him. He found it prudent to spend this time informing me of the likelihood of the house plan I'd been provided with going offline and that I am to ignore any and all "additional" marks that may appear. He phrased it as though they were looking to do maintenance behind the scenes, but I see it as rather... intriguing, that he does this now.

I shall keep vigilant, regardless of what he's told me. Everything that I see will be marked down, no matter what I am ordered. Additionally, I shall keep a watchful eye on any relevant information the archives might hold.

As far as I know, that shouldn't be a possibility. If I am correct, which I know for a certainty that I am, the device I am monitoring belongs to the late "Gordon Freeman". He is notorious for being a pain in the back for previous employers of mine to deal with, and the device itself holds information about a project that has haunted the deepest curiosities of my mind for the better part of a decade now. Before this, I hadn't even a clue that he worked in the BMCQ prior to the 200X incident.

Why would a child have something that holds that much information?

Might I first begin my statement by having you know that I despise each and every one of you who decided it'd be a brilliant idea to contact me, and that hatred shall not dwell throughout the course of our work together.

May I then continue to note that, regrettably, it would appear as though our little proposal shall become a proper business arrangement.

Joshua Freeman is, in fact, who my target is.

Now don't you begin suggesting that I'm doing this out of any moral judgement or kindness in my heart, I don't care that he is a child. All I care for are answers surrounding the device and the knowledge that aiding you will provide me with relative peace once our work reaches its closure. Our alliance will be purely on the proverbial sidelines of my work, my main goal being uncovering the truth behind the BMCQ.

To paraphrase, I will be your "man on the inside" throughout this endeavor.

The first day of my employ has barely commenced and already the schedule is riddled with discrepancies. Not only had the target left the premises abruptly, but a second mark wormed its way into the residence unexpectedly upon their return.

As I am obligated to do so, I made quite a few notes of it, including several choice words for my employers since apparently no one decided colour coding the target to stand out from other marks was of any importance. In addition I made my attempts to call said employers, only to be met with voicemail and a spiteful retort of being much too occupied once I'd finally made it through to them.

Incompetence aside, it would luckily appear that both marks have returned to the main room, though for whatever reason I couldn't say with full certainty. One would appear to be interacting with the device in question but I am unable to determine what exactly they are doing on it. Not that it matters much at all, monitoring any happenings on said device was not a part of my contract.

What was has brought me a newfound intrigue.

Now, in spite of the system's rather impressive security implementations, I was in fact capable of compiling a fair bit of general information surrounding it, though I suppose that is no surprise at all. The device in question was owned by one "■■■■■■ ■■■■■■■", who my previous employers would recall as being nothing less than a massive headache to deal with postmortem. His image is not lost on me, of course. A fearless soul among a group of survivors sacrificing himself to prevent further calamity on the world at large makes for quite the report, regardless of what truths the story holds. The man caught my interest then and he continues to now...

Seems his name cannot be swept under enough rugs to prevent his continued appearance in my work.

Notable name aside, I do consider it most intriguing said device was in use during ■■■■ and ■■■■, as both years mark the only known dates the BMCQ was in use for. Prior to that, I am unable to find any records of it even existing. Following said years, the entire department was completely dismantled, something about a fire breaking out and destroying several rather important pieces of equipment. I only bring this up as, despite my extensive research on the subject and my various methods of which to do so, my every attempt to uncover any information surrounding what experiments may have transpired there have come up completely empty. Even something as simple as who was involved in the goings on in that area are nonexistent.

No documents, no research papers, no reports, not even a single incident file exists for me to see.

I suppose, at the very least, I now know just what I am looking for. My main employer may be secretive and visibly enigmatic, but his goals in relation to the document transfer seem clear to me at the moment. Whatever he intends to do with that information is beyond me, but, whatever they may be, I hold no positive guesses. If you were to ask me, anyone that adamant about anything is unquestionably deceitful in some regard, but I wasn't paid for my opinions or ability to question the desires of my superiors. When my work for him comes to a close, that will be the end of it, and I don't desire ever seeing that man again if I can avoid it.

One of the marks has moved. I'll have to start colour coding them myself if I wish to avoid further migraines.
