Time for the Komachi Remaster Takeover! I'm going to be going in order based on what I did for the first Takeover, so we start with the Silly/Oldschool RuneScape Cover. I once again tried to make a RuneScape theme without actually playing RuneScape, and I think I did better this time! I'm going to link the original under the cut, but I like the slower pacing this one has, because based on what someone told me maybe a year ago, RuneScape is slower in bpm than Touhou, so in order for it to actually sound like RuneScape, I slowed it down a lot. I think it worked out!

idk abt other ppl but like plushies on my bed arent just for having n being there sake they are to be HELD and CUDDLED and SNUGGLED and also you cant snuggle one or two n leave the others they must ALL be HELD at ALL times like if im on bed they need to be on me which wasnt a problem for the first 9-12 ish years of my life when i only had bunny. then for next 12-9 ish years it wasnt a problem bc i only had bunny n hans. things started getting a bit difficult but not too much when bluey entered the picture that year. now one year later we have added gris to the mix n cuddling 4 stuffies at once is a tough job but someone's got to do it so eh

WIP Wednesday
tagged by @stobinesque i am gonna try and do this
THE RULES
In a reblog (or new post w/ rules attached), post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to post!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can’t share from (for example, an event fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. If you tag me in your post, I will send you an ask request!
WIPs
fast friends (steddie single dads)
taste of freedom (steddie go to pride together)
shock to the system (steve-centric injury angst with side of steddie)
if i said you could never touch me (steddie steve explores his fears around intimacy)
safe like springtime (steddie as steve's first queer relationship)
no pressure tags for a couple of my moots @stregoniconiconii @hardboiledleggs and also anyone else that is struggling with WIPs should do this >:]
SNIPPET
from fast friends aka the steddie single dads au inspired by a bluey episode that i mentioned in my last tag game post that i have been working on for FOREVER because i'm struggling with it a little
The next morning Steve and Sam made their way to the park again, and Steve was surprised to see Eddie and Arwen already situated. Eddie had what looked to be the same book in his hands, and Arwen was spinning in circles on the playground.
At the sound of Steve pushing the gate open, the curly-haired duo both looked up at him in sync, an expression of joy on Arwen’s face that was replicated in a muted way on Eddie’s.
“Sammy!” Arwen squealed, promptly stopping her spinning to run over to Sam. This, of course, resulted in her tipping over onto the soft grass surrounding the play area, and Eddie snorted at the sight.
“Timber!” He mock-yelled, making a crashing sound effect with his mouth as Arwen tumbled. It seemed to be enough of a distraction to the young girl that she didn’t even pause to think about whether or not she was hurt, just pushed herself off the ground to continue her route to Sam. Sam rushed through the gate Steve was holding open to meet her halfway, and they came together in a squeal-filled hug. It looked as if they hadn’t seen each other in months rather than twenty four hours, but it was sweet.
Steve stood and continued to watch for a second, before his eyes switched focus to Eddie. He let the gate fall shut behind him and thought about sitting at the same bench as him, but ultimately decided to sit by himself again.
Eddie looked up from his book after a second, and offered him a smile.
“What’re you reading?” Steve asked after offering a smile back, and Eddie’s eyes lit up at the question.
“Dune.” He answered simply, changing how he was holding the book so Steve could see the cover. Steve frowned, vaguely recognising the book name, and looked closer at the cover. It was just a lot of yellow and- a giant worm? He had no idea. Eddie seemed to notice his confusion in his furrowed brows, and let out a surprised huff, “You don’t know Dune?”
Steve flushed slightly, a little embarrassed. Reading had never been his thing.
“I don’t-” He started, and Eddie quirked a brow as he continued, “What’s it about? Maybe?”
Eddie cleared his throat before he started reading the back of the book in an extremely dramatic voice.
“Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, heir to a noble family…” He continued reading out the blurb, and looked up to make eye contact with Steve every couple of sentences to make sure he was still listening. Steve was sure if the man had both hands free, he’d be gesticulating wildly and pacing up and down on the grass. He seemed like the theatre type. It was a little endearing, and the way his thumb rubbed over the worn cover as he read had a smile pulling at the corners of Steve’s mouth.
“It sounds nerdy,” Steve admitted, and watched as Eddie’s expression collapsed a little at the word. That wasn’t what he wanted at all, so he continued hastily, “Something my friend Dustin would read. Probably has, actually. That’s probably why it sounds a little familiar. I’ve never been, uh, good at reading.”
As Steve finished talking, Eddie seemed to have gotten over whatever feelings he felt at the word ‘nerd’, and was back to smiling at him.
“This Dustin seems to have great taste.” He proclaimed, back to the dramatics. Steve was about to tell him more about his pseudo younger brother, the conversation between them flowing easily all of a sudden, but they were interrupted by their daughters calling for them.
“Oh, customers!” Sam yelled, gesturing to their make-shift table again. Steve was surprised to find himself a bit disappointed at his conversation being cut short. He wanted Eddie to keep smiling like that, but he also loved playing with his daughter.
Eddie and Steve sighed fondly, almost at the same time, and started their walk over.
“Sure hope the customer service is better at this cafe, the last one we went to was atrocious.”

Unicorse

Gotta think that firing up Unicorse so close to bedtime is one of only a few examples where “commitment to the bit” comes close to an unstated red line with Chilli.
Chilli's face tells me it's far too late in the day for this particular variety of nonsense.

I don’t know who wants to hear this, but I, as a huge fan of what I’m about to discuss, believe that everyone needs to:
This is the plot of a bluey episode. Specifically the season 3 episode “Born Yesterday”. Go watch it. Go watch it. It beautifully, colourfully, and comedically presents the idea of looking at the mundane and commonplace things in your life with fresh eyes, as if you’ve never seen it before, as if it’s new, unfamiliar, exciting, a mystery.
This comes to be shown best in the episode when the father of the protagonist, Bandit, (while playing the titular game, “Born Yesterday”) sees a leaf. After a day of asking what things are, taking the answers, and moving on to a new thing, he is told “it doesn’t matter, just look.” After which he looks. He looks closely, thoughtfully, thoroughly at the leaf. It’s not special, it’s not notably unique, there’s nothing unusual about this leaf. It’s the kind he sees daily, and yet, he clearly saw this leaf differently. It wasn’t just a thing anymore. It wasn’t a vessel for a name and after that uninteresting. It was “alive” as he says. After his kids say the game, which he was so begrudging to play, is over, he asks the kids if they’re sure they’re ready to stop, he’s clearly noticing the new perspective this game is giving him. He even claims that he “enjoyed it. I feel like a new dog”.
And yes, they’re dogs. It’s bluey. Keep up.
After this he is seen out a window sat on the ground, by his own guidance, looking at a leaf the way he did before.
This is all to say that having a fresh new outlook on life, not passing things off as normal and uninteresting but looking at them closely, can give you a refreshed outlook on life. And also bluey is really good. Go watch it!
(I recommend handstand if you want a taster of the show that’s unnecessary sad. I can rant about that another time)
look at me. listen to me. this is directed at americans for the record. the reason you think North American animals are boring is because you live here. there are so many cool and beautiful animals here. we have beavers. we have wolves. we have moose. we have sea lions. we have armadillos. we have mountain lions. we have alligators. we have foxes. we have bighorn sheep. we have manatees. we have bears. we have ocelots. we have BISON. and that’s not even touching on the birds! or the turtles! or the snakes! we have amazing beautiful and diverse wildlife right here and it deserves to be appreciated and protected

I made Yuuma's theme on a whim because why not!? Listening to Yuuma's theme for the first time was GREAT, it's certianly on my favourites list for many reasons. It's even got little bits of Alice in Wonderland in there!!! After listening to it a couple times I had the random thought of "what if more guitars and louder drums?" So that's exactly what I did! Going to be honest, at the time of me writing this, this may be one of my best Rock-esqe Covers ever, if not one of my best covers in general. It does cut off early, but what I did get is GOOD

141 - First Words
So my baby said his first word the other day and mine and my partners reaction was fucking hilarious. Now I can't stop thinking about the 141 reaction to their baby saying Dada for the first time
Johnny 'Soap' Mactavish would cry, like ugly tears type crying. No he does not care about the snot coming out of his nose, his precious baby just said Dada. He was on the floor playing with baby MacTavish during tummy time, you were in the kitchen cleaning up after you and Soap decided to bake Making another baby. Baby MacTavish is a chatter box like their daddy, always babbling and Soap answered back to baby MacTavish's very interesting story. Soap didn't hear it at first, he thought it was babbling nonsense until he heard it again. The simple word Dada and he's picking baby MacTavish up and rushing to the kitchen
Thay said Dada
Soap holding baby MacTavish up like a prize
Fuck off, you're lying (Your baby was growing up too quickly)
Their first word was Dada
Soap was already crying
Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick would be shocked, swears he's going deaf because no way baby Garrick is talking already. Gaz was bouncing baby Garrick on his knee, pulling funny faces to hear their belly laugh, you were on Netflix trying to find a movie to watch. You were both were in your own world before baby Garrick screamed then ever so quietly said Dada, you and Gaz's head snapped towards each other as you stared at each other
Did they -
I think so
Gaz turning to baby Garrick
Did you say Dada? You can't have, you were born like last week
Babe they're 8 months old now
Nope. Still a wrinkly baby
Captain John Price would just smile, like a smug smile that baby Price's first word Dada. Make's him feel like he's the favourite parent Not realising that when baby Price is upset you can use the fact they can only say Dada against him "Sorry baby, they want you :)". Knowing Price's luck, baby Price will say Dada when he's at work. As soon as you hear the words you're on the phone ringing Price, he picks up at the first ring scared something happened. When you tell him what happened you best believe he's dropping everything to come home, doesn't matter if he's in a very important meeting with Laswell. Baby Price said Dada, he must go home at once
Price coming home and runs straight past you
See, I'm the favourite parent
John Baby... That's not how that works-
Price is ignoring you as he's kissing baby Price's cheeks
I'm gonna buy you anything you want. Just say Dada again. Please
Simon 'Ghost' Riley also cries. He'll cry silent tears as he holds baby Riley to his chest, years ago he never thought he'd have his own family and now he's here. Witnessing his baby's first words. Ghost, being the excellent father he is, basically forced you to finally go out for girls night knowing you needed time to yourself. Ghost couldn't wait for a night of tummy time, playing and just straight up cuddling while watching Bluey. Baby Riley was laid on their daddy's chest, trying to fight sleep but failing miserably and just before baby Riley fell asleep they said Dada as they clutched to Ghost's shirt.
Did you say Dada
Ghost didn't move realising baby Riley is now asleep
God I never thought I'd love anyone more then I love your mummy
Ghost carefully hugs baby Riley tighter
But then you came into my life. Best thing to ever happy to me and your mummy

dad!joe and reader thoughts for today (sweet on you)
Tumblr media
joe has this habit of putting hayes in his jersey on game days, even though it’s way too big. he always says, “gotta rep the team,” while holding hayes up like he’s a little trophy. you think it’s the cutest thing ever, especially when hayes grabs at the fabric like he understands what’s going on.
hayes absolutely adores joe’s deep voice when he reads bedtime stories. joe puts on these ridiculous accents for every character, and half the time, you’re hiding your laughter behind the door because he’s somehow turned Goodnight Moon into an Oscar-worthy performance.
every night before bed, joe whispers, “thank you for our family” to you like it’s a little prayer. sometimes you pretend to be asleep just so you can hear him say it without interrupting.
this morning, you caught joe tying hayes’ tiny sneakers and muttering, “you’re gonna be the best at everything, just you wait,” with a look on his face like he’s already planning hayes’ future football career. you told him to calm down and let the kid figure out his favorite color first.
you swear joe has a sixth sense for when you’re overwhelmed. today, you came back from running errands, and he had a bubble bath ready for you while he and hayes were watching Bluey. it wasn’t even a big gesture, but it made you feel so seen.
joe’s favorite thing lately? sunday mornings. hayes climbs into bed with you two, and you spend an extra hour just lounging—joe talking softly about what the week ahead looks like, hayes babbling nonsense, and you realizing this might just be your favorite version of life.

authors note: new style, new year, new me. i’m completely obsessed with this man so ofc im writing about him. ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce…
babydaddy!nanami headcanons (obvi bc i can’t stop thinking about him ^_^)
ᥫ᭡. nanami kento as a father? he’s a dream. a provider, a protector, a man who will cut your baby’s grapes into perfect quarters and always make it home by six to read them a bedtime story.
he acts all serious with everyone else but he’s absolutely the type to have matching pajamas with them. your toddler is in bluey themed pj’s, and so is he. no questions.
ᥫ᭡. the king of babywearing. will absolutely strap his kid to his chest and go about his day, running errands while their tiny hands are gripping his spotted tie.
ᥫ᭡. loves his kid more than any and everything but will absolutely NOT tolerate nonsense. if your toddler is throwing a tantrum over something unreasonable, he’ll just stare at them and go,
“are you done?”
(ofc he understands kids will cry tho)
ᥫ᭡. fussy baby? no problem. he’s rocking them with one arm and sending work emails with the other. ( our multitasking king.)
ᥫ᭡. has a whole routine for them. breakfast at 7:30 am, naprime at 12, bedtime at 7.
ᥫ᭡. the biggest softie, actually. if your baby so much as sneezes, he’s canceling plans and keeping them home all day. he says he just doesn’t want them to get worse and to be there if he does, but really, he just wants an excuse to cuddle them for hours.
and ofc like the gentleman he is, even after the breakup, he’s still showing up with groceries for you, making sure you’re okay, fixing things in your house like he never left. because let’s be real… he never really did.
ugh nanami kento the man that you are

I'm a parent to a 3 year old and a baby. To put it in perspective, the guidelines for parents are to watch TV with their kids until age 5 which is rough, to say the least. A tolerable kids show is a godsend and it's common to share which shows are watchable and which shows to avoid. You end up thinking a lot about the shows you watch and so I've thought a lot about the stranglehold Bluey has on kids now:
- It's voiced by kids who are the same ages as the characters. Kids go crazy for that and it's actually pretty rare in kids shows.
- About play. A lot of kids shows are about some big twist or conceit. Bluey is just about kids and parents who play in-between work and school and life.
- One of the only kids shows I've seen where both parents are equal characters, have their own inner life, play with the kids, and love each other.
- It's quiet. A lot of episodes are about mundane things made interesting and fun by the young perspective. A walk on a beach, going to the park, there's a whole episode about putting the trash out. Normal life things kids recognize.
- The mundane is treated as spectacular. Famously the episode about going to bed (Sleepytime) makes adults ugly cry because it's also about kids growing up and leaving home. Kids love it because it's about space travel. Stuff like that.
- The novelty of Australian life and accents is fun.
- And finally, and the reason I think it's a huge deal for a certain type of American: it shows a happy family that genuinely enjoys having kids around.
Would I watch it without kids? Probably not. And it's not even my first choice a lot of the time (I prefer Shaun the Sheep and Ghibli movies) but it's easy to watch, packs an emotional punch, and offers a perspective that everyday life, parenting and being part of a family is fun, beautiful, and important.
In Australia we have this cartoon for toddlers called Bluey. It's very good, models positive family relationships well and teaches good practical and emotional lessons to very young kids. But what I have recently learned on youtube is that Americans are OBSESSED with it. Why. This might be the most interested the US has been in Aussie tv since Neighbours.

Christmas at The Harper's
Roy Harper x Fem!Reader, Lian Harper
I havent write a fanfic in so long that I'm super nervous about this. It was supposed to be a Jason Toddx reader, but then Roy happened. I hope yall enjoy it and Happy Christmas!
Warning: I haven't read a dc comic, so Roy may be OOC. All my knowledge on him comes from other fanfics and google. My first language isn't english so there will be errors.

It was a weird and peaceful day in Gotham. The snow had fallen the night before, so you could hear the laughs and joyful screams of the older kids playing outside. It was a week before Christmas and Lian was in her Bluey PJs on the couch eating the remains of the gingerbread house she had made the day before with her father. The local Gotham channel was doing a Christmas movie marathon, right now The Grinch was. Her father had left early in the morning, so it was just you two in the apartment.
Lian groaned when a commercial break popped, but before she could change for Netflix, the commercial got her attention. It was about a family giving each other gifts and it confused her. Wasn’t that Santa’s job? She stood from the couch and quickly put on her bunny sleepers to run toward her father's room knowing you were there organizing the drawer you shared with Roy. You always got annoyed with her dad for not folding the clothes.
“Why did those people give gifts to each other? Does Santa not visit them?” Lian looks up at you, her eyes wondering about the commercial. You stopped what you were doing and panicked internally, how did you explain to Lian without accidentally ruining it? Damn, Roy for not being here because of late toy shopping. You turned to Lian and cursed when you saw the look on her face, for a 5-year-old she was very persistent.
“Well…um…Santa does visit them; it is just that they love each other so much that they decide to also give a gift to each other. Like we do in birthdays…” You hoped that the last-minute explanation was enough for her curiosity because you certainly didn’t have anything else. Lian looks at you and blinks three times before nodding, you let out a breath and relax.
“Did you get something for Daddy?” Lian balanced her weight from side to side.
“Well yeah?” You hope she doesn’t catch the uncertainty in your tone, was your explanation a good one? You hope Roy doesn’t get mad, but you're shaken from your thoughts when you see Lian eyes getting watery. Shit, you totally fuck up.
“Wait wait” You squat to her level; you were certain that you ruined something because of your explanation. “Why are you crying, sweetie?” You run the conversation in your head to see if you accidentally said something stupid or insinuated that Santa wasn’t real, really wishing it wasn’t the last one. You didn’t want to be responsible for dying the magic of Santa for her.
“I haven’t bought a gift for Daddy” You can barely understand what she says because of her crying and you mentally high-five yourself, Santa is still alive. Now you need to fix the new problem.
“Oh, that’s fine sweetie. We can give Daddy what I got him.” Your fingers clean her running tears, you pout a little as she keeps crying.
“No, you said they gifted each other because they love each other so I need to give Daddy something” Lian lips wobble as she rubs her eyes.
“You don’t have to per se....and I promise Daddy won't be mad about it, but if you still want to gift Daddy something what about those cards you make? He is always so happy when you give him one” Your reassurance helps, and Lian stops crying and plays with her fingers. You could eat her chubby cheeks with how adorable she is.
“Daddy really likes them?” Your heart almost bursts at how cute she looks.
“Your daddy loves them, especially when is a drawing of you two.” You smile at her and Lian smiles back. Damn, you're good at this. “We can even buy some of your Daddy's favorite chocolate to accompany your card.” Lian nods and runs to her room determined to make the best Christmas card ever made, and you punch the air. A crisis is avoided like a pro, you deserve some hot chocolate.
As the days passed the air got colder and the streets that didn’t have that much snow were now completely covered with the white fluffiness. You had spent the week of Christmas in Roy and Lian apartment. Both of them insist every night for you to stay the night. You turned in your sleep, your unconscious body seeking the nearest heat supply. It was Roy's body that was much hotter than yours, he was on the other side of the bed sleeping when your cold feet and hands woke him up.
He mumbles incoherent words as he tries to move away from the cold, his movement wakes you up making you pout. How dare he move away from you? So, when his back faces you, you interlock your legs with him and move a hand to his torso making him grumble.
“How are you so damn cold? The heater is on” He turns to face you knowing you weren’t going to let him be.
“The heater isn't enough; I need your body heat” Roy chuckles and kisses your forehead. He could feel you move your cold limbs in his clothes, but he doesn’t dare move. Roy moves you to be even closer to him and rubs your back. He closes his eyes and thinks about how grateful he is for having you in his life, he didn’t know what would have been of Lian and him if you weren’t in the picture. He always thought and said you were too good for him. He prayed that he could make you even happier than what you made him be and give you everything you deserved.
“You know, it's weird that Lian hasn’t come in to wake us up to go open gifts” You mumble against Roy's chest, loving how affectioned he was being this morning. Sadly, your words make Roy remember the last Christmas fiasco. Lian had silently opened most of her gifts and he missed taking pictures of it. Roy quickly untangles from you, skips to the living room, and sighs when the gifts are untouched under the tree.
You follow him at a slower pace and look at him confused, but even weirder is the toddler sitting on the couch waiting patiently while watching Frozen. Aren't kids supposed to be hyper at Christmas? “Good morning, Lian” I hug her, and kiss her forehead, and she smiles repeating my words with more excitement for her dad and you.
“Did you peek at what Santa got you?” Roy had an eyebrow raised; he couldn’t believe his kid waited for them to wake up, not when she knew that more than half of the presents were for her.
“I didn’t, Daddy!” Lian smiles at her father, which makes him more suspicious. Before he can ask more, she runs to the tree and returns with a small gift bag. “I got you a gift, Daddy!” You get your phone and start recording the moment between father and daughter.
Roy Harper's heart almost failed at that moment. Lian excitement wasn’t all about the presents Santa got her. Half of her excitement was to finally give him the gift she had made days ago. “You did?” He takes the gift, but first pepper kisses Lian face.
“Daddy! Stop” Lian giggles and tries to escape the kisses attack. “And I did!” Lian smiles even more. “(Y/N) said that besides Santa, you can also give gifts to the people you love. She also got you something but open mine first!”
Roy smiles and pulls Lian onto his lap and pats the space beside him. You take the sign and sit down making sure to capture both of them. Inside the bag, there was Roy's favorite candy like you promised to Lian, plus the card. The card was made with white paper, one side there was a drawing of three stick people that resembled you three. The stick people were around a big three and Santa was stuck in the chimney, this made Roy and you laugh. When he looked at the other side of the card, a tear almost escaped. With big chunky writing, it said “Appy Crismas to the dest daddy!” and a lot of hearts.
Roy pulled Lian again into a tight hug. “This is the best gift I have ever gotten, pipsqueak. Thank you so much.” He kisses the side of her forehead, and Lian, satisfied with her work being done runs to open her gifts. Roy takes the moment to pull you into his arms.
“Happy Christmas, Roy” You hug him as you two watch Lian open her gifts and act surprised.
“Happy Christmas, (Y/N) …and thanks.” He mumbles the last part as he hugs you tighter, only catching it because of the closeness.

It is so obvious when writers of a kid's media has spent a lot of time around kids and when they haven't.
My Neighbor Totoro, Bluey, Lilo and Stitch- these are writers who clearly understand kids VERY well. Everything from dialogue to the psychology of the little ones to just the mannerisms they show.
As an example, they are so good at portraying decidedly childhood fears that aren't just "monsters under the bed," and at showing how children sometimes have very nonsensical cause-effect pathways that still make perfect sense in their heads.
Sometimes we as adults are guilty of forgetting what it's like to be a kid since it's been a long while since our own childhoods. Staying around little ones is how we remember what goes on in those little heads of theirs. And I just love writers who so clearly take the time to learn from the kids in their lives and use that to tell better stories.
