Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month 2024
Well since it’s that time of year, I’ve decided to do something that technically has something to do with me. For those of you who know me, I’m autistic. Growing up as an autistic kid wasn’t the easiest, and I do think it was easier to find sources or individuals who understand autism as I’ve grown into adult age. I am thankful for all the friends I’ve made who not only understand me, but also see me as human.
Some of you of wondering about the colors that I’ve used, I want to make it clear that my intentions are not to hurt or isolate anyone. So let me explain what these colors mean to me and what I personally think should mean for other people.
While I understand that blue is very controversial especially in regards to autism and autism acceptance, not helping by organizations like Autism Speaks, but I don’t think that it should be seen like so and I hope my intended meaning isn’t disrespectful or hateful. Blue, in this context, means freedom, imagination, inspiration, and sensitivity. Red is to symbolize energy, confidence, courage, and change. Yellow is about joyfulness and happiness.
I also have meanings for the roses and bluebonnets I have included. Roses generally is to represent love and passion, and the bluebonnets are to symbolize bravery, sacrifice, and admiration. One more thing for the butterfly, in which it symbolizes the power of transformation and the incredible feats people achieve in their lives.
Some may wonder why I’ve decided to include meanings, and it’s because I believe that these words should be described in regards to autistic people, as they are capable of all of these wonderful qualities that makes people who they are. I understand that not everyone will agree with me, and that’s ok. My intentions are to be respectful and kind to other autistic individuals and hoping I can make a difference for the community. Please every autistic have a good autism awareness and acceptance month, every one of you deserves the kindness and acceptance of the world.

This is too long for tags I’m so sorry
There’s a flower named after Blackbeard! The penstemon Blackbeard and it’s quite lovely (and purple!) but other than that I like to think that he likes daisies (innocent, simple, if given to a loved one they mean “I love you truly”)
or honey suckle; they are sweet, in general they mean pure happiness but they also mean “the flames of love” and “the tenderness for love that’s been lost” as well as affection seeing as how they cling to whatever they are near 🥹
or maybe he simply likes bluebonnets since his last name is bonnet, and the flower represents bravery, admiration, and sacrifice
Ok but reblog and put in the tags what you think stede's favorite flower is it's for science thanks
