i think part of why bllktwt's reaction to the kainess breakup is so jarring to me is because kaiser literally could have been meaner. i don't mean in the context of the entire relationship - everyone is justified to be mad as hell at him for that, but we already went through that initial hate train for that. during the actual literal breakup, he could have been meaner. idk i feel like some people act like he called ness a slur or whatever when he actually let him down as gently as he possibly could ��😭

"Why do you have so many lipsticks?" Loki asks, looking at the lipsticks neatly arranged on Erra's makeup table. "My friends gave them to me. I don’t know why, but they’re still brand new, so…" Erra tries to avoid eye contact with the French prodigy. "So you just accepted them?" "Yeah…" She offers a small, awkward chuckle as she meets his golden honey eyes. "Toi, fille idiote," the French boy says, shaking his head at her.

"Hey! I’m offended."

"…You know French?"

She smirks teasingly. "Some bird taught me."

"Oh." Loki instantly realizes which bird she’s talking about. His eyes soften, and his lips curve into a smile, then a chuckle.

Erra picks the first lipstick she sees. "But anyway… you’ll just stay still," she says, applying the lipstick to her lips. Loki, who is right beside her, looks quite confused and curious until… 'chu~' he snaps back to reality and finds a lipstick mark on his right cheek. His face is burning hot; the color of red is barely visible on his dark skin. He’s flustered, very flustered, but remains silent for a few minutes.

"The shade of this lipstick looks nice, right?" she asks, inspecting the lipstick’s color before turning her head back to the flustered French boy. Erra laughs at his reaction. "It’s just a kiss on the cheek, and there’s more to go," she grins as she glances between him and the untouched lipsticks on the table. "Wait, wait, wait, there’s more?"

The French boy’s face is now covered with lipstick marks of different shades. He feels dizzy and weird, aside from being flustered. Erra giggles at the sight of the poor, flustered boy’s face, the lipstick marks smudged on his lips, which are now mirrored on Erra’s plumped lips. She grins once again. "You like it, don’t you?"

"S'il vous plaît, restez silencieux un instant…" he mumbles, tilting his head down. Erra wraps her arms around the French boy and gives him a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Jamais <3"

Personally I think he would've tried getting a tongue or lip piercing at some point but let them heal over after realizing they're more of a hassle to deal with. He's definitely into the look though! But playing is his top priority and he'd cry if any piercing gets him injured. He'd substitute for clip ons instead to at least achieve the look.

Last minute speculation about the next chapter, which will hopefully leak today. 247 will carry the title "Originality" according to PO2 Scans.

In this chapter, Noa rounds up the Japanese players for a strategy meeting. He finds Igaguri and Kiyora training (calling it now: they're rehearsing malicia foul 💀), while the other seven are in the monitor room checking out the new rankings.

...but there's ten players in BM.

...Kunigami, I'm trying to give your emo ass plot relevance, bear with me.

More likely than not, "Originality" will be Noa glazing Isagi and his MV powered plays, during the strategy meeting. Maybe it'll be the coach throwing Igaguri, Kiyora and Neru a bone at last, with an order to showcase their originality. Because they're unseen talents, that might give BM an edge over PXG.

Go figure. But what the title made my mind jump to was the inverse of originality: imitation.

Kunigami is Noel Noa's mimic, the Wild Card copycat. Although it's hard to get a read on the frigid bastard, it's unlikely he's pleased by this hulking teenager trying to ape his playstyle. He's an egoist himself, after all, if not one in Ego Jinpachi's mould. Besides, the experiment has arguably failed.

Being Noel Noa hasn't worked in Kunigami's favour.

Wild Card improved his physical stats, robbed him of his ability to co-operate on the pitch, and has rendered him next to invisible in Bastard Munchen. Yukimiya and Hiori had more impact in round 3 against Ubers, and the latter barely played five minutes of that match.

I could go on and on, but I already have: here I talk at length about Kunigami's character arc. But in short, in my view, this is the key thematic question of the Neo Egoist League, for both him and Isagi:

"Originality" is one of the qualities needed to adapt and survive. Isagi shows it in spades, and has all but conquered the team for himself. It's about time Kunigami took that advice on board and changed tactic.

But.... let's see. Watch the next chapter be an Isagi-glaze fest—I'll head to Tumblr Live on its deathbed to wipe the egg off my face.

alright, i'm going to rant on a little bit about rin after finishing blue lock's u-20 arc. nothing much to say except people don't really get past his character since everyone portrays him as a bluelock-egoist rather than as he was before the shit with sae returning from spain (i dislike that man with all of my guts, but let's not talk abt it). rin was attentive, a loving kind, has always been devoted and daring to express his feelings like when he brought up sae's weight loss and how he still wants to share a dream with him. sae caused all of that to change (sae’s words were for the better though, i do agree on that point or rin will always be hang upon his brother and not for himself)

i just think that he’s not that emotionally unstable or unavailable for a relationship, you just gotta pull that caring side of him. it may took awhile cause i believe he got some big trust issues going on LMAO and the thing about the people around him “tying him down”. but once you get past thru that, oh boy, I WILL be planning a future with him

idk if you can answer this but do you know if the bllk characters are as crazy and rude with their dialogue in the original japanese manga too like with the fan translation? sorry for any english mistake. hope you have a good week :)

good question, by the way. Thank you for sending it my way because it gave me the opportunity to skim a few chapters in japanese, and I got a good chuckle from some of the things I found.

So. About the reply. Are they still crazy? yes. What about rude then? this one is more fun to answer. As a general rule of thumb, japanese dialogue often has a lot less curse-words and random insults thrown around, just because japanese as a language relies on other things to be rude. Mainly, socially inadequate registers, directness, and lack of honorifics. For the most part this holds true for blue lock as well. Some of the times you see the character cussing out, in japanese there are no swear words, but just more direct or otherwise less polite lines. See: in the last chapter, Karasu's "dumdums" isn't there in japanese. I know. I'm heartbroken about that too.

BUT. I guess blue lock breaks from the norm even in this respect. A lot of its most... colorful language, even in translation, is true to the original lines, actually. Lemme just bring up three of my favourite examples.

yep. he says all that. he literally calls him "mountain of vomit and shit big brother" saljkfjankfsja Rin, you sure have a way with words. A true poet of our time.

Then there's Yukki.

Oh, Yukki.

In japanese this line is "お前カイザーと同類のマウント糞野郎だわ" (omae kaizaa to dourui no maunto kusoyarou da wa) which cracks me up because he's almost echoing Rin above. What's phrased as "self-serving shithead" here, if translated literally, is even more colorful in japanese. Kusoyarou means piece of shit, while maunto is "mountain" (the same word that got translated as "pile" in Rin's line). So Yukki is more or less not just calling Isagi a piece of shit, but a whole mountain of shit. Talk about extra. "Shithead" is a good workaround to make the line more natural in english but I feel like it isn't quite as funny as the original, lmao

And then, of course. Isagi's response.

snalfkna I kid you not this is an almost word by word translation of what he's saying. The only thing that isn't there in japanese is the "narcissist" part (he just says "fucker" but the rest is there. Yep. Even that.

So yes, the boys are still rude assholes in the original japanese manga as well, haha

With one caveat: from what I've seen, the official translation is much more accurate to the og phrasing than any of the fan scanlations. The former tends to maintain as much of the nuance as possible, while fan scans sometimes miss some details. The latter also tend to add more swears or downright mistranslate bits at times
