Umstellung meines Tumblr Profiles

Ab heute wird es nur noch sogenannte "Fast Reviews" zu Filmen geben die ich mir aktuell in der Heimkinoauswertung auf DVD / BluRay angeschaut habe.

Die ersten beiden dieser Art sind im Original nur WhatsApp Statusnachrichten, aber ich möchte nicht das diese nach 24 Stunden für immer verschwinden, von daher der Schritt dieser Art, da es ja im Moment auf meinem Blog nicht so viel neues gibt.

The event in film music of this summer just happened: Deutsche Grammophon has released the long announced concert “John Williams in Tokyo” on Blu-ray.

(This Deluxe Edition also contains 2 CDs with the music and 2 interviews recorded in Japan.)

I’ve never heard of the Saito Kinen Orchestra, it is apparently a “pop-up” orchestra that only exists to give concerts in the summer months.

Williams and the French conductor Stéphane Denève showcase the maestro’s unparalleled work with a broad anthology in Japan’s finest venue “Suntory Hall”.

i still dont believe in buying blurays. at a time where a lot of ppl use streaming services & dont care abt this discussion,, i would like to talk about a lil something called Backwards Compatibility. i miss her. dvds and cds being able to play on anything with a disc reader,, ohhh man. i <3 the playstation 2,, my girlie who could Also play playstation 1 games AND cds AND dvds. name a better system... a more affordable option in this world... who needs streaming services when i can just buy dvd versions of everything i love for $5 a piece forever

Je suis actuellement au troisième épisode de la première saison et je dois dire que j'apprécie particulièrement l'atmosphère de cette époque. Ce duo avec un style de grande classe et qui se consacre à la protection des innocents. La bande musicale est tout simplement emblématique. C'est véritablement une série d'exception !

Finally was able to get this lovely DVD! Now I can collect images of the specific shorts included (Hip, Hip Hurry!, The Unruly Hare, The Bee-Deviled Bruin, Doggone Cats, to name a few), restored to the original quality, without any watermarks, logos, or distorted or photoshopped imagery whatsoever! I'm looking forward to seeing more volumes in the preceding years and to see that DVD's will still live on as a medium!

Film Fast Review #034:

(BluRay mit DTS 5.1 Sound)

Story: Die junge Grace (Samara Weaving) steht kurz davor, ihren geliebten Alex Le Domas zu heiraten. Doch die Einführung in die exzentrische sowie schwerreiche Familie verläuft anders als gedacht. Um die Familientradition zu wahren, muss das neue Familienmitglied während der Hochzeitsnacht mit einem Spiel eingeführt werden. Ehe sich Grace versieht, befindet sie sich in einem heimtückischen Versteckspiel um Leben und Tod. Doch die frischgebackene Ehefrau hat gar nicht vor kampflos aufzugeben…

MakeUp / CGI / Computereffekte: Das, was hier für einen FSK16 Film geboten wird ist schon ordentlich. Wir haben hier High Class- und Braut-MakeUp über Schrammen, Kratzer, Schnittwunden, Blut am ganzen Körper bis hin zu Hieb-, Stich- und Schusswunden. Alles sieht hierbei grandios handgemacht aus und unterstreicht die Stimmung. CGI / Computereffekte habe ich keine entdecken können.

Bild: Das Bild weißt keinerlei Körnung oder Bildrauschen auf. Da der Film an einer Nacht spielt, haben wir hier viel Kunstlicht, schummrige und dunkle Ecken sowie Flure. Auch die Nachtaufnahmen die draußen spielen, sind zwar dunkel gehalten, aber man kann trotzdem alles gut erkennen.

Musik / Soundeffekte: Die Musik ist gemischt zwischen Instrumental und Schelllackplattenmusik und trägt an vielen Stellen zur Spannung bei. Die Soundeffekte knallen an manchen Szenen ordentlich und rütteln einen wortwörtlich durch.

Fazit: READY OR NOT ist einer dieser Filme die leicht langweilig mit einer Traumhochzeit beginnen aber schnell zu einem Psychotrip werden bei dem das überleben an erster Stelle steht. Der Cast ist gut besetzt, einige hasst man von der ersten Minute an und die Blut- bzw. Gore Effekte sind einfach nicht nur herrlich sondern auch kreativ. Auch das es einige Stellen zum schmunzeln gibt, stört keineswegs und das sehr überraschende Ende ist ein Blutbad ohnegleichen. Der Film ist eine wirkliche Überraschung gewesen der mich voll und ganz unterhalten hat und zu Recht in der heimischen Sammlung seinen Platz gefunden hat. Wer mal was anderes sehen möchte als den großen Hollywood Bombastkram bzw. bei Filmen auch mal über den Tellerrand schaut, ist bei READY OR NOT sehr gut aufgehoben.

We all love an insane crime when it leads to a good series on the telly, don’t we?

And when the location - in this case (Iceland standing in for) Alaska - plays a defining role, even better! (Events start on Christmas Eve as night falls for several weeks.)

In season 4 of “True Detective”, the 8 men who operate an arctic research center go missing.

The local police chief Jodie Foster and the “indigenous” State Trooper Kali Reis, an actress I didn’t know who’s also a professional boxer and former world champion in two weight classes, have to bury old grudges and face their dark past to solve the complicated case.

Here's what I got at the mall yesterday--

$20USD at Claire's.

This is one 2000's trend I have missed.

I got this Hello Kitty coffee mug and Frost Giant Loki Funko for $36USD at F.Y.E. (For Your Entertainment).

FYE is a store I don't see mentioned much, so let me put it this way: It's basically a trendier, more mainstream version of ThinkGeek. Or it's Hot Topic with CDs, DVDs, Blu rays, and movie posters. And manga. And some Western graphic novels. They also sell a lot of nerdy memorabilia in general, so it's a really cool store.

I will say, however, that unless you're looking for a rare movie you're probably better off going to a pawn shop or thrift store for movies because some of their DVDs and stuff can be overpriced. Like $15USD for a USED DVD of Avengers: Infinity War. That's just no -- that's a bad deal, peeps, especially when you can get a brand new copy online for virtually the same price.

⬆️ That's screenshot from the DVD for sale from Walmart that I just now took -- May 31, 2024 (9:56 am). So like keep this stuff in mind when you're shopping for movies and shit. Not just Marvel movies. Stores like FYE are great, but they raise prices on any movie(s) that happen to be popular. Oh, and remember peeps, the thrill of the hunt is part of the fun.

You know, sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't just change the blog title to like Broke & Nerdy or How To Be A Broke Nerd or something🤔
