-If you happen to have a familiar or pet, Dante will treat the thing like a housebroken pet whenever it's around, always feeding it treats and stuff.

-Is very intrigued by the fact that you too are a devil hunter, since there aren't exactly that many people practicing the profession.

-Wants to mentor you and teach you the ways of the blade so you can be more prepared whenever you fought dangerous demons.

-The day you asked him to come along on a mission with you was the day his heart turned into a butterfly that flew down to his stomach and flapped around for hours on end--that is to say, he was very excited to see you in action.

-When he saw the creatures you'd be up against, however, his demon instincts clicked and he immediately portaled you out of there with the Yamato and started slicing up all the monsters before you could.

-After that he and you had a talk, and while he wanted to be by your side during missions 24/7, he respected your wishes to be independent and decided on a compromise: You could go alone, as long as you called him regularly and asked for backup or retreated whenever you needed it.

-Is largely indifferent to your pet/familiar, if you happen to have one.

-You are now his rival! Don't worry, it's in a friendly way.

-Nero competes with you to see who can kill more demons, or who can take down the creature first, or who can kill demons the fastest, etc. Etc.

-When he saw the kind of creatures you normally go up against, he immediately rushed in, declaring that he would kill them all before you could--and so the challenge began.

-It's fun, competing with him in battle, and what's more, this way, creatures rarely get the jump on you, and if they do, they're demolished immediately.

-Competes with your familiar/pet, too, since he sees it as an extension of you.

-All in all, you two (or three) are the most badass monster slaying team to have ever walked the earth.

-Was honestly a little concerned when he learned of your occupation. After all, he would hate for anything to happen to his precious.

-When he accompanied you on one of your missions, he was shocked to say the least. These were the creatures you fought on a near daily basis? They were unlike any demon he'd seen before; they were far more grotesque and possibly too ugly for even he to write a poem about.

-Afterwards, he became even more worried about your safety than before and kept trying to have his familiars follow you when you left for missions.

-He insisted on going with you more often, but his weakness often prevented him from doing much, especially in battle, so he reluctantly stayed behind and wrote beautiful compositions about how he felt about you endangering yourself like that so often.

-If you have familiars/and or pets like him, he will be more than happy to play with them, take care of them, or maybe even take them for walks if they're needed.

-His familiars will definitely be interacting with your familiars; hopefully one of them can talk because Griffon is a chatterbox.

my oc Mergo Ihyll (... definitely not a Bloodborne reference) is my only dragonborn pc. She's an orc from what became bilegulch mine - it used to be a stronghold, but the chief grew old and although he was respected and still strong, he fell to a challenger who then basically turned the stronghold into the bandit-ified place it is in the game.

Can you write the DMC boys having a small crush on a fellow devil hunter of the DMC crew who dresses and fight in a similar fashion like the hunter from Bloodborne?

Anyways, the reader always have her mask up, and it kind of confuses them like “Never during my time with you have I seen you without your mask” and it doesn’t help when she also rarely takes off her hat as well, making them harder to map out her features

So one day, while on a mission to slay a devil, let’s say the devil’s claw barely misses her face when she duck, letting the claw tear down her mask accidentally. While she’s busy ducking, the boys are caught up in a trance like:

Finally after slaying the devil, she was busy grumbling about her torn mask and chipped hat did she get a small tap on her shoulder, stood the boys shyly (but somewhat in a smuggishly flirty tone) complimenting her looks

-Vergil thought you dressed in the way befitting a demon hunter, not really caring whether you kept your face hidden or not.

-Couldn't understand what your giant knife thingy was for, and after a while of thinking about it, came to the conclusion that it was a massive pizza cutter. Imagine his surprise when you explained it had a practical function.

-One day, as you guys were battling a group of particularly nasty demons, your mask was ripped off.

-While you and Vergil worked to clear away the demons, the latter discovered he was having a very hard time taking his eyes off you.

-After the fight was over, and you stood panting and mumbling about where you'd find another mask, Vergil approached you, and with a slight frown, he told you he thought you were beautiful.

-It didn't matter whether you had scars or not, he thought you were the most gorgeous woman he'd ever laid eyes on.

□ Nero □

-Nero liked your fighting style and your clothes, thinking you were pretty badass for dressing like that.

-He was honestly thinking about dressing up like you, but didn't want to copy your style.

-He knows there's a reason for you to keep that mask on, but when he tried asking you about it, you ended up having a back and forth (kinda like Ghost & Soap if u know who those are) that didn't end all that well.

-When you were fighting demons together, Nero was shocked to see a demon run up and rip your mask off, though it was a good thing that it only got your mask and not your face.

-Nero was absolutely frozen in shock as he stared at you, all awareness of the world around him disappearing for a few short minutes.

-When the fight was over, Nero walked up and somewhat shyly confessed that he found you extraordinarily beautiful, scars, burns, and all.

-V always thought you were enchanting, from the way you moved to the way you spoke.

-He couldn't care less whether you showed your face to him; to each their own.

-V was fascinated with your weird pizza cutter weapon, and loved to watch you use it.

-When you were out fighting the demon and got your mask torn off, V was mesmerized. Your beauty was unlike anything he'd ever seen, unique and dazzling all at the same time.

-Had Griffon and Shadow not yanked him out of the way in time, he might have died.

-Once the fighting was over, V approached you and gently tapped you on the shoulder, expressing how lovely he thought you were, despite anything you might feel insecure about.

Rather late to the party my friend, my apologies.

For my headcannon submission, I choose a share a headcannon I've had since I first finished the game.

Starting with the Cleric Beast, we know that it is cannon it once was a member of the Church. More than likely someone completely unimportant lore wise. However it was one of the first bosses in the game that gave me this headcannon.

The Beasts we fight as bosses are twisted distortions of their desires given physical form via the beast blood.

I know, the "Inner Darkness" trope is very original but I like it.

Reinforcing this headcannon for me, is the man himself Laurence and how his "Meager Flames" could represent his "Smoldering ambition". Then there are the Abhorrent Beasts who are duplicitous by nature, the "Suspicious Beggar" being the prime example of this. Finally Blood Stained Beasts seem to represent what happens when one holds everything in, it becomes a poison that seeps out and into everyone and everything around them when the damn finally breaks.

o: You are not late, and these are very good ways to look at what determines the form of the beast! I like how the game is not fully clear on whether the type of the beast depends on the personality (or rather, what is repressed) of the person or is reactive to what kind of substance the person accepts, and how! It seems so far to depend on ...both?

I am currently mostly focusing towards "physical" determination; what kind of blood was taken, under what circumstances, for how long, but the "psychological" aspect can't be removed fully I think? Following the idea that Vermin is a real thing and reflects the human dregs, I once made the observation that Old Hunters who drop it have red eyes same as Abhorrent Beasts, so perhaps this is true that they are the most vicious people. Vicious enough to have the same mind as a beast as they had as a man, and shift on will. With Laurence's fires, it additionally could reflect his sheer desperation to still keep his humanity. Most beasts are scared of fire, and I always thought the bandages various hunters and Amelia wear are to cover the self-inflicted burns to 'ward off' the beasthood! So maybe he just was realizing he was at the very brink and so, so, so, SO desperately wanted to banish the beasthood from himself that it manifested as the thing the beast is supposed to fear 🤔

Also:

The man himself actually confirms your vision in the interview ( x )! Only, he seems to apply the idea of "they are the most awful because they hold back the strongest" to Cleric Beasts! Perhaps, Blood-Starved Beasts could be a reflection of not simply self-repressing too much, but also giving away self-destructively? It also seems to be literal - the beast itself has skin shedded, and there is a crucified beast of this type in Old Yharnam! But uh... if you ever knew a very "selfless" person that denies EVERYTHING to themselves and only gives to others, you know those people are very unstable and start doing more harm than good due to how much strain they put themselves into. Many of them DO become toxic... but metaphorically. xD And in Bloodborne world, it is literal too!

Anyways, thank you for the ideas, this is very interesting to think!

it hasn't been formally revealed on the blog yet, but I have been very deliberately using the same light blue text I use for Silver for a Kantonian kid calling herself Vera for now. mostly canon HGSS design, with the notable and hilarious exception that he* has spent a while cosplaying as lady maria of the astral clocktower from bloodborne, because she is the HGSS protagonist in this and Silver basically went "that lady seems strong and anti-rocket. she's my rival now." (he* is 11. or perhaps was, maybe he's* had a birthday.)

I do have some art of this from a while back because one of my friends, the person behind @steeltraptrainer, went "y'know what would be HILARIOUS" and then drew him*.

* = these pronouns are unlikely to last, because I saw enough transfem silver blogs and looked at the fact that this one needed to sneak into kanto somehow and went "y'know what would be fun-"

Anyway, this entirely unrelated kid named Vera, all of twelve years of age and filled with irritation against Team Rocket—I don't have a formalized design for her apart from a pink hoodie that's too big for her, red hair, and an uncanny resemblance to Silver that Maria has yet to connect the dots on.
