The Gazette - Blinding Hope.

I didn’t search for any interpretations, these are thoughts I’ve had in the last couple of days.

The girl lands on this car. Then she jumps off and starts to run.

When she is running we can see the lights of the car behind her.

And in the end, she is shown standing in front of the car facing it.

And here is her hand, she reaches out to the person in this car.

There is another element of the story, the dove.

Dove symbolises hope and renewal (obviously there are another meanings, but I think these are most suitable in this context).

The girl sees the dove before the jump. In some sense I feel that dove must’ve been the reason why she has jumped - craving to feel free like a bird.

When she gets tired of running and stops in a tunnel, the dove shows her the way and gives her hope and motivation.

In the final scene, the dove lands on the car, just like the girl did in the beginning. But this time she understands the sign and reaches for the person in the car.

I don’t know which interpretation to accept - was the girl running away from fate, and accepted it? Or is this video about the mysterious ways in which fate leads us and lets us to meet people whom we’re supposed to meet?

Or maybe the person in the car - was it her future self that she has to become? This is my favourite interpretation yet. The girl has broken the routine, has stepped into the unknown and walked the path to become a new person. The dove representing the hope of renewal, and the girl’s path meaning personal growth. This interpretation would suit the band’s direction of thoughts since Dogma.

And what a beautiful message it is.

i’m very sorry that society has made you feel this way about your fellow disabled people. i hope you can reflect on why you believe that other people with worse symptoms than you are bringing down this community and giving us a bad name.

(especially in the context of a vent post that is not indicative of whether or not we are “actually trying” in real life.)

i am also sorry that society makes you believe that in order for disabled people to be respected we have to consistently be working toward a nebulous goal of self improvement and overcoming of disability as to not be perceived as lazy and inconsiderate by the world.

i hope you can be kinder and more patient with yourself and your disability in the future, too.
