blightspirit's funniest trait to me is that he likes to try and "logic" his way out of trauma so he can stop feeling the adverse effects of said trauma
#foxtrot: can you please go to bed you cant solve this#blightspirit: no no i just need 5 more minutes to resolve my parental trauma. i've almost solved it.#clans of the pantheon

Your fan clans are so much fun, gotta love some compelling political and family drama. What are Blightspirit's crimes? Was he the reason why Wolf's first rebellion went south?
Aaaaaahhh thank you!! I'm having a blast developing them :D
Admittedly I'm trying to figure out "the line" with Blightspirit. His original incarnation's group are like...supernatural and tied in with magic, so it's a little less close to home and more Fantastical Crimes. I'm leaning towards adding supernatural elements to the Clans (summoning daemons and demons, the gods are real figures, etc.) so I might incorporate them more. But what I'm leaning towards:
He wasn't born yet when Wolf's first attempt happened! They were all young adults when Wolf first lead them (so imagine everyone with legwarmers and headbands /j). The first attempt went south due to a myriad of factors: inexperience on all their parts in doing something like this, an unexpected wrench in their plan with the arrival of CoyoteClan Warriors, and general bad luck. It's a learning moment for Wolf, she's very aware of how she almost got them all killed (even when the others insist she couldn't have accounted for all that went wrong).
He weaponizes some sort of illness or poison towards Wolf's rebellion resulting in a devastating blow to their group that forces them to fall back. I think his initial discovery is like, some sort of sick rabbit or deer and he's more interested in seeing how it spreads and how other animals either avoid it or pass it on. It's at the encouragement and pressuring from the Saints (and his own father) that he tries to weaponize it.
If I go the supernatural route, he accidentally sets a demon on them lol
A devastating blow that not just sets back Wolf's rebellion a few moons to recover from, but it also fractures his relationship with his mother and sister even more. He and Sheepfall always had a...strained relationship, she didn't hit her stride with her kits until older when she started drilling them on how to survive in the Clan. How to fake a prayer, how to play the part - she made sure that they'd know the right words to say and when to say them. She wasn't the most...compassionate about it, often strict and intense.
It kept them alive, it was a necessity (and yet Blightspirit feels intense guilt about wanting more from her, especially after all he's done. He struggles with how much he wants his parents to love him in a different way than they did.)
So this final blow just strangles out the fading relationship they had. They talk occasionally after everything is said and done. I don't think him and Sheepfall ever truly get back on the same terms. He and Stormrunner manage to mend things a little (they have some camaraderie after doing a kill your brother collab lol)
#clans of the pantheon#since blightspirit's ref was made with it being a one in done deal. i admittedly didnt think too hard on it?#but now that i'm in full brain worm mode. i need to figure this out.#i know some ppl are like dont worry about the line!! but there is a line for blightspirit. he did know this was wrong.#so it's like a character thing for me.

drawing blightspirit's family and his mom just looks like an average frostdawn design except without a week's worth of sleep. her name is sheepfall and she's angry bitter and angry 24/7
#her ref sheet is coming along nicely#she is absolutely justified to be very angry btw#i'd change it so she doesn't resemble the average frostdawn design. but- *eyes turn red* i dont want to#clans of the pantheon

Please tell me about Foxtrot!!!
I briefly mentioned Fogstep and Ozzy here, but some more on them:
Fogstep and Bearstar, then apprentices, grew up in an interesting time for MustangClan. The Clan was living in an era of prosperity and honor, having not only 'won' against CoyoteClan, but also using that massive win to strong arm other Clans into doing as they needed.
A lot of the Clan was itching to show off, to gain another victory.
The town fire gave them just that, burning the nearby Clan's territories and causing tension to heighten rapidly as the other Clans were forced to either expand or shrink their territory to account for the damaged woods. Not to mention, the amount of town cats fleeing the damage.
Fogstep and Bearclaw were Warriors during what many would remark as MustangClan's true show of resilience, though nearby have fond memories from the era. It was brutal and bloody, both worked harder and harder as Bearclaw went into battle after battle and Fogstep had more patients than she could help.
She'd often 'run away' for periods of time to escape the stress, something that hurt her social standing, but gave her a necessary break. It was on one of these escapades that she met Ozzy and stayed with him in town, getting to know the cats there.
From there, their relationship flourished and, well...Foxkit happened.
They initially debated on where to keep her, with Ozzy not wanting her to grow up in MustangClan's batlte-hungry environment but also not having the resources to care for a kitten in the town. They briefly considered Fogstep moving in with him or him going with her, but neither really wanted to leave their homes.
So they opted to compromise: Fogstep would raise Foxkit in MustangClan where she'd be given safety and food, but also be allowed to visit him in the town. When she was older, she could decide where she wanted to live.
MustangClan doesn't have any rules against Medic's having kits, the main concern Fogstep had was them having issues with the father. She opted to keep it quiet, though Bearstar did find out after catching them once. He keeps it a secret for his old friend but quietly disapproves.
More on Foxtrot:
Mischievous and sneaky, she, much like her father, is very set in her ways. If she doesn't want to do something, she won't do it. This made her warrior training absolute agony for her old mentor, who would just straight up lose her whenever she snuck off to find something that appealed to her.
She trained with Duskpaw and Branchpaw before switching, and did miss getting to be with her friends during lessons. The three of them would get really excited when Foxpaw would rejoin them for the occasional battle training.
Growing up visiting the town and often hanging out there for days at a time, Foxtrot doesn't hold much interest in maintaining MustangClan values of battle and honor. She doesn't want pointless battles, even if the glory of victory makes her Clanmates happy.
She's faked a few omens to get her Clan out of a potential fight, usually when the herb store is running low and no one will listen when Fogstep is telling them they shouldn't do it. Duskclaw catches her the first time she does it and sternly tells her not to do it again (Foxtrot then proceeds to just get sneakier at it).
Met her older half-sisters as an apprentice and bonded with 'em real quick. Marble is the eldest of them all and one of the defenders of the town while Hijinks is considered a troublemaker.
She meets Blightspirit while out herb gathering, curiously entering a cave to find a starving, matted flea-ridden mop of a cat who hasn't moved in ages. Taking pity on what she thinks is a senile old cat on their deathbed, she's surprised to find out he's only a little older than her.
Keeps visiting out of curiosity, the two of them have a shared love of history and she helps him learn the true story of the fire and the Clans that live at the bottom of the mountains. Once he trusts her, he opens up about TempestClan and their beliefs. Doesn't tell her who he is or who he was until one night when they're stargazing together.
She finds him cute, if a little annoying in how negative he can be. She manages to get him to cut the self-loathing a little with some sharp comments.
When he approaches her to help take down TempestClan, she agrees. While she can't get all of the MustangClan cats to help, she gathers a small group to help aid Wolf's rebellion.

for funsies here is a rough line of the plots i have but written as if theyre blurbs for actual warriors arcs
Arc One - Falling Ashes; Rising Smoke
"In the aftermath of a legendary battle and a devastating disaster, tensions remain high between a group of six Clans of cats. Stuck in a Clan intent on claiming glory through battle, a young Medic named Fogpaw finds herself toeing along the lines of loyalty between her Clan and those she feels have been wronged by them. Meanwhile, a Champion of her own Clan, a Warrior named Dawngaze has her world turned on its head as she realizes something or someone must bring change...whether or Clan wants it or not.
In the snowy mountains, far from the discord and battles of the other Clans, a Clan lives in isolation. Within it, a young warrior finds herself gathering allies and foes alike."
Notes:
Dawngaze, Fogstep, and Wolfchase act as the core three protagonists.
This arc is a lot of set up for the next one, was half-tempted to make this the prequel series but starting here makes more sense to me.
Obviously from the summary, heavy emphasis on change as well as setting up for the next big conflict of the arc.
Main events for Fogstep: meeting Ozzy, bonding with Dawngaze as the two explore the town and meet the cats who live there. Beginning to disappear more and more from MustangClan, days at a time, until her mentor dies and she's forced to make a choice. Ultimately chooses to return, though with mixed feelings.
Main events for Dawngaze: Setting up the repressive atmosphere of BoarClan at the time, the brutal expectations of her parents (the leaders), how she rebels by sneaking out and meeting Smokey, her eventual desire to overthrow her parents. She actually goes ahead and challenges them, winning, and choosing not to kill them and offer them a place in the Clan - which they reject and live in self exile than turn their back on the old ways of BoarClan.
Main events for Wolfchase: starts with her as a young warrior, setting up her friendships and relationships and meeting Sheepfall, a loner who was forced to join their Clan. Their budding relationship to eventual change in Wolfchase as she chooses to rebel, the failure of the first coup, and then her escape. Ends on a hopeful note as she vows to change things.
Arc Two - The Sacrificial Lambs
"Living in an uneasy age of peace for moons, with leaders shifting and Clans changing; a tide shifts in the Clans that brings an age of suspicion and worry. The newest MustangClan Medic Apprentice, Foxpaw, finds herself looking beyond Clan borders and loyalty in search of what she wants...and finds it in an unexpected place. In BoarClan, a young she-cat named Raindrop is found unconscious at the border of one of their camps and is taken in by Dawnstar and Sandstar.
In the snowy mountains of TempestClan, Sheepfall's youngest son, Harvestpaw, is promised a bright future so long as he walks in the light of their God."
Notes:
Protagonists are Foxtrot, Blightspirit, and Raindrop.
Raindrop's chapters flash between the past and present to her recovery in BoarClan and rise to becoming a healer to her past of nearly taken by TempestClan and her escape along with Mousepaw and Speckleface.
Blightspirit's story focuses on his apprentice years under the Saints to the guilt of his actions to finally fleeing TempestClan in self-exile, meeting Foxtrot around the fifth book.
Foxtrot's story centers around a very similar conflict to her mother as she struggles to keep up her relationship with her family, specifically her dying father, and a growing tense relationship with her half-sisters as the town cats are treated worse and worse by the Clans.
Her story ends with Ozzy dying and a power struggle beginning in the sixth book with the town cats having no more leaders from the old age left alone to guide them.
Raindrop's story concludes with her having BoarClan and the other CoyoteClan rebels to help her as they fight back against TempestClan's control, killing Oxeyestar and taking back the Clan. She rejoins CoyoteClan as their healer and Tinyscratch becoming their leader, renamed to Tinystar.
During the battle, Mallardsong is found nearly dead at the border between CardinalClan and BoarClan.
Arc Three - The Pack
"Joining MustangClan as a tentative new member, Blightspirit must earn his Clanmates respect through trials if he is to join them. Doubting the new members intentions, Duskclaw, Deputy of MustangClan, finds herself tangled in a new world when she encounters a strange town cat named Raven. Meanwhile, when tragedy strikes, Lifeseeker, son of Dawngaze and Sandstar, finds himself as the prime suspect in the case.
In the mountains of TempestClan, young Stormrunner finds herself believing in a future she once thought was impossible."
Notes:
Another set up arc lol
Lifeseeker ponders his relationship with Mallardsong, his best friend, as his Clan and her Clan threaten war. BoarClan's resources are stretched thin attempting to help CoyoteClan recover and CardinalClan seems intent on picking a fight.
SerpentClan sides with CardinalClan during this, with Troutstar on his last life and his sons assuming control.
Duskclaw introduction! I should add all these characters have roles and stories in the background of other arcs, but she gets her main limelight here. Seemingly an unphased Warrior, we learn of her struggles with her family, her duties, and her occasional shameful thoughts of running away.
She does not trust Blightspirit lol but doesn't want to ruin her friendship with Foxtrot so she keeps her comments to a minimum. Strikes up a friendship with a playful town cat named Raven who is persistent in their pestering of Duskclaw.
Ozzy dies during this arc with Duskclaw being there to comfort her friend for the loss of her kin.
Stormrunner is our eyes in the rebellion, how they're rebuilding after Blight's attack on them and the constant supply raids from TempestClan to keep them weak. Stormrunner eventually flees to find help, meeting Blightspirit and asking him to help them if he can.
He chooses to make things right, getting some Warriors of MustangClan and the entirety of CoyoteClan to help the rebellion.
The final book is the attack where Stormrunner is attacked by her brother Graylion in the Church, almost getting her throat torn out before Blightspirit saves her. The two fight off their brother, killing him and eventually witnessing Tempestar be mauled to death by the rebels.
The book ends with TempestClan being destroyed while SerpentClan and CardinalClan enter an alliance to launch an attack on BoarClan...right as Mallardsong opens her eyes for the first time. In town, Hijinks (Jinx) is revealed to have stepped as the next town leader with Raven acting as a spy into the Clans.
Arc Four - Fall of the Flock
"With war breaking out between SerpentClan, CardinalClan, and BoarClan, the era of peace between the Clans of the mountainside is gone. Awake but unable to speak, Mallardsong struggles to recover and stop her Clans senseless war...while her attacker lingers in the background, watching carefully. In SerpentClan, Saugerleap struggles to balance his duties as deputy along with his relationship with Jaycall, realizing the lengths his brother, Pikesnap, will go to secure power.
In the town, Raven ponders their past with the Clans and their future, growing divided as their duties and growing fondness of Duskclaw conflict."
Notes:
finally! A SerpentClan POV, sorry it took me so long lol they definitely have not gotten the attention they need. Mallardsong, Saugerleap, and Raven share this arc.
Mallardsong's early plot is establishing her relationship with her brother and sister, the magistrates, establishing potential suspects in the Clan, and how she became best friends with Lifeseeker. She later on recovers though is unable to sing, her voice croaky and weak. While she's able to clear up that Lifeseeker is innocent, she is threatened by her real attacker to stay silent: Crowfoot.
Saugerleap's relationship with Jaycall of BoarClan is established more thoroughly and how recent events have put a strain on things. Establishes his respect for his father and crumbling relationship with his ambitious brother.
Raven is introduced properly, revealing them as a kitten who was orphaned and taken in by Oracle, one of the old leaders of the town. Growing up in the town, the struggles living by the Clans, and eventual Oracle's struggle with dementia and Raven's desire to bring her peace. They are committed to the mission given to them by Hijinks, but find themselves growing fonder of Duskclaw.
Arc ends with Lifeseeker and Mallardsong revealing Crowfoot as the attacker to all the Clans, Saugerleap poisoning his brother to prevent him from becoming leader, and Duskclaw finding out Raven is a spy when Foxtrot confronts her sister.
aaaaannnndd those are the arcs i have in mind! might add more later

other misc notes:
nine gods for nine lives. when a new leader takes on their new name, a representative of the gods, one that obviously has a link to the new leader, is sent to bestow it upon them.
tempestclan doesn't have this system, their leader has one life. the reasoning given is that the saints and the leader make up the nine lives themselves. in practicality, this makes their leader easily replaceable if they're not cooperating.
i like the idea of each clan have a different leader marking system. something that immediately visually differentiates them.
serpentclan and cardinalclan definitely have some makeshift crowns
the coliseum and their gathering spot double as one space, i'm thinking some sort of abandoned mine quarry so there's like....layers in which the audience can sit and watch.
honestly gathering spars are probably pretty common, a show before the leaders deliver the news.
there's a small town where quite a few cats live, including a big family of cats.
because of mustangclan and boarclan's close alliance, mustangclan will sometimes stay at one of boarclan's camps on their journey to their own camp. it's a big feast and resulted in a lot of the cats between the clans growing up. foxtrot and redclaw have a sibling-like relationship with dawnstar and sandstar's family because they all grew up together.
characters notes (for funsies)
saugerleap's secret boyfriend is boarclan's jaycall, one of the healers and one of the boarclan leaders' sons. pikesnap is the one who found out and immediately tattled to their dad.
raindrop was originally from coyoteclan but fled at a young age when she was going to be brought to tempestclan, was taken in by boarclan after collapsing.
lifeseeker's original prefix was originally turtle- but was changed when he was a kit and nearly died of sickness. dawnstar made a dramatic plea to the gods and changed his name to "imbue" him with life. he finds the name very melodramatic and embarrassing as an adult.
mallardsong, his friend (and one of the cardinalclan royal family members), likes to tease him about it.
foxtrot and redclaw are childhood friends, redclaw likes her strange and weird bestie a lot even if she doesn't always understand her.
blightspirit eventually joins mustangclan to be with foxtrot
also figured out the clan names i wanted to use so! we got mustangclan, serpentclan (might change), coyoteclan, boarclan (thank you bonefall), cardinalclan and tempestclan.
some light notes on each, might do a more detailed post later-
some general worldbuilding notes:
do not ask me how this biome functions
the cats cook, prepare food, and know how to start fire.
subranks like courier, head of patrols, head of hunting, and so on exist. their power and relevancy varies within each clan. the deputy/deputies are in charge of managing them.
not all clans have the same positions and wording.
no starclan, these cats worship a pantheon of gods and pray to the appropriate god for advice. the gods have different names and appearances depending on which clan you go to, not writing them out because i haven't figured out every name yet lol
mustangclan
leader: bearstar; deputy: duskclaw; medic(s): fogstep and foxtrot
semi-nomadic, have a few different camps scattered around the map they travel to depending on their needs.
because their camps are so scattered, they often have pre-arranged travel paths through other clans territories. in the past, they'd just brute force their way through though, with different leadership, have begun to put more value in negotiations.
heavy emphasis on might makes right, though that's begun to change. lots of value in conquest, combat, and defending one's honor through force.
names often reflect this with aggressive predators and suffixes like -claw, -strike, -bite being common.
the clan is your family, lineage and blood relations are downplayed in favor of serving one's clan.
unfortunately for bearstar, his father was the last leader...and his own daughter won the trial for deputy. no one would outright accuse such a popular leader of nepotism and spitting on their values...at least not to his face.
leader and deputy are decided through combat, i like the idea that there's a makeshift "coliseum" that all the clans can use to settle minor disputes.
you can challenge the leader and deputy for their position at any time, you just have to win through battle.
outsiders can enter if they prove they're strong enough.
mustangclan cats are blunt to the point of coming across as rude and have a dark sense of humor, which can often rub other clan cats the wrong way.
strongest ally is boarclan, whom they fought alongside in a moon's old war against coyoteclan (pre-war, who were actually three small clans in a coalition!) and cardinalclan.
most of the cats here are followers of the god of war and glory, though followers of the god of the hunt and harvest are common (though they are a popular god in all clans)
serpentclan
leader: troutstar; deputies: saugerleap & pikesnap; physician: turtlestep
stationary, reside in one massive camp that's split into three sections: exterior where the warriors sleep, middle section where the nursery, elders, and physician's den lies, and the central section where the leader, deputies, and other leaderkin stay.
essentially a hereditary monarchy, the leader here is the one that speaks with the gods. this keeps their power absolute, the physician in serpentclan is purely to help heal.
some leader lineages have placed their children in the physician position, just to maximize their power over the clan. troutstar didn't get that, had two sons with no interest in learning medicine.
family lines often have a naming theme. troutstar's lineage uses fish names.
they try to completely avoid war, troutstar has established a long history of lengthy negotiations to avoid combat (saugerleap likes to joke his father has won negotiation wars by boring his enemies to tears).
can come across as snooty and arrogant to the other clans, they find the other clans history of war and bloodshed to be, not repulsive, but almost like...embarrassing?
they don't get along with mustangclan and boarclan cats lol
completely isolated during past wars.
outsiders are allowed to join, but most are barred from every ascending to the position of leadership or even become a physician.
one of the clans that practices betrothals, though it's most used for cross-clan negotiations. saugerleap and duskclaw were briefly engaged to cement a travel path for boarclan through serpentclan territory, though that fell through after saugerleap got discovered with his boarclan boyfriend.
lots of followers of the god of water here, thanks to troutstar's long reign; also lots of followers of the god of art.
coyoteclan
leader: oxeyestar; advisor(s): goosehop, duckstrut, grousetail; saint: icesnap
once three small clans - lupineclan, roseclan, yarrowclan - that worked in a coalition; a past war against stallionclan devastated them as they were forced into one cohesive unnamed clan to better control them. when the war ended, stallionclan pulled out from this group, leaving a massive power vacuum that a new player, tempestclan, took notice of.
this ended with them putting a leader of their choosing into this new clan, renaming them coyoteclan for their cleverness and resourcefulness to survive. this move solidified the alliance between the two groups...an alliance which slowly has begun to degrade as more of the warriors recognize just how much control tempestclan assumed.
the advisors and the saint of coyoteclan are all sent from tempestclan, feeding information back to tempestclan and swaying oxeyestar's decisions.
oxeyetail was no special warrior when picked, some naive and arrogant enough to believe he was so special that the god tempestclan worships picked him out of everyone. it's gone to his head quite a bit.
leaders are picked by the advisors of the clan, though they do a bit of fog and lights to try and make it more legitimate, as if the leader really has been handpicked by a god.
anyone can join, not many want to unfortunately.
it's not uncommon for coyoteclan to skip gatherings, there's a lot of resentment. when they do go, they can come across as prickly and quick to judge. but their sharp wit can make them good conversation partners.
their closest ally is tempestclan.
while tempestclan's influence has forced a lot of them to believe in their sole god, followers of the god of the sun and day still take up the majority in coyoteclan. other popular gods are the god of luck and the god of the hunt and harvest.
boarclan
leader(s): dawnstar & sandstar; deputies: nightstride, darkwater, dewleaf, lifeseeker; healer(s): raindrop, jaycall
a big clan with five different camps, set up around their territory where they often shuffle around depending on what they need. one's probably utilized completely for the healers, acting as both a herb garden and a quarantine zone.
the non-healer camps are run by the four deputies while the leaders often circulate around each week to make sure everything is alright.
similar to mustangclan, boarclan has a big culture around combat. though, it's more considered a performance akin to art rather than a way of life. showing off your strength is encouraged.
leadership is done the more traditional canon wc style, picked based on merit. however, you can absolutely challenge a deputy, healer, and leader if you'd like. it's a big event though, everyone's getting their roasted duck legs to watch a fight.
while hereditary leadership lineages aren't law enforced, they aren't discouraged. dawnstar and sandstar are mates, with their deputies and one of their healers (jaycall) being their kittens.
two leaders only, any more is demanding too much from the gods. they used to have more, but it resulted in a civil war that killed all four of the original leaders. two makes sure there is balance.
a very boisterous and loud group, play fighting is common and loud tales of glory and survival are often told at night around a fire.
for that reason they can come off across as abrasive, loud, and disruptive. they aren't trying to be, but not a lot of boarclan cats realize how loud they are.
they used to be a closed clan, though they've opened up somewhat to idea of cats joining.
their closest ally is mustangclan but dawnstar and sandstar has been working to try and repair relationships with cardinalclan.
a majority of boarclan cats are followers of the god of beasts.
cardinalclan
king: swiftstar; next-in-line: cranegaze; magistrates: cootwaddle, crowfoot, piperstreak, tattlertail, gullcry; cleric: loonback, cormorantpelt, pelicanjaw
a very hierarchical clan, their hierarchy extends to warriors themselves though i'm still teasing out the details.
forest clan, their camp hidden away. i'm still figuring out the details, i think they operate similar to serpentclan's camp just with more layers to reflect their hierarchy.
a hereditary leadership system, swiftstar is a long line of leaders groomed from birth to inherit the throne. his sister cranegaze is next-in-line, with their youngest sister, mallardsong, being the one to inherit afterwards.
magistrates act as the leader's advisors, the next-in-lines mentors, and enforcers of the leader's rulings. despite not inheriting the throne, they command a massive amount of respect from the clan and hold a lot of sway, with some forming their own unofficial courts of cats they can rely on to get things done.
betrothals are common in the "noble" bloodline of cardinclan, with swiftstar, cranegaze, and mallardsong's parents' mateship having been prearranged.
their parents were killed in a raid organized by the previous leaders of boarclan in a bid to control a very lush piece of territory. the devastation of losing their king and queen increased the antagonism towards boarclan tenfold.
swiftstar entertaining dawnstar and sandstar's pleas for peace is wildly unpopular, especially among his own magistrates.
cardinclan only names their cats after birds, yes this will probably come to bite me in the ass if I ever try and do a full allegiance.
i'd like the swiftstar line to have some sort of surname or title? still mulling it over.
a big artsy culture encouraged by the ruling cats, portraits of the king, of the clan in its prime, and of the god of art are very popular. cats of cardinclan also love to decorate themselves for gatherings and just general special events, smearing mushed up berries on their fur and rolling in flowers.
they used to have a strong alliance with the three clans that once made up coyoteclan, but tempestclan's control has withered that alliance away.
tempestclan
leader (referred to as the "father" of tempestclan): tempeststar; saints: martinbounce, wolverinesnarl, cariboucall, lynxstrike, cougarpelt, marmotscreech, beaversnap, pikapounce
isolated in a mountain range, the harsh weather and conditions to travel to this clan has kept them from being invaded by others for a long, long time. their camp resides in an abandoned village with an old church being where camp meetings are called.
an intensely religious clan, born around the idea there is one singular god whom they must devote themselves to entirely. they are patriarchal in nature, mostly as a way to better control the numbers of their clan.
this extends down to sometimes arranging mateships for the cats of tempestclan, blightspirit's parents was an arranged mateship between cariboucall and sheepstomp, a loner who was "rescued" by tempestclan after nearly freezing to death and was coerced into joining them. yes, it's as horrific as it sounds.
saints are often from a long lineage, though they dress it up with the idea they have been picked by their god. their leader, who when ascending to leadership is always renamed to tempeststar, is mostly just a figurehead to vocalize the saints orders. an ultimate figure of authority for the cats to follow. the current tempeststar's old name was snowdancer, he misses his old name and his close friends refer to him as 'snowy' in private.
blightspirit was being trained to take over his father's position, decided to get rid of any specific healer position. saints now handle that to maximize their control and authority over the clan.
this intense isolationism in both their policies and their territory has resulted in their clan numbers dwindling, taking a heavy toll when an exiled cat, stripped of her full name and just referred to as 'wolf', took some of her followers with her in exile.
so when mustangclan left a group with a big ol power vacuum in a region with prey, herbs, and lots of kittens to bring up the mountains...the saints decided the kindest thing to do would be to lend their aid, in exchange for herbs, resources, and some apprentices. it's only fair after all they've done for coyoteclan, don't you think?
kind of a miserable place to live, either with those unable to leave or those who genuinely believe in the religion pushed by the saints.
reserved, tired, and distrustful of strangers, most of the other clans barely know what tempestclan is like. they never come to gatherings and none, besides coyoteclan, have gotten into talks with them.
closest alliance is coyoteclan, whom they essentially rule from within and take advantage of.
they pray to a different god from those in the pantheon, choosing one singular god of cats that rules absolute.

The Blight Event continuation (pizza-king-dwight)

The residue of the blight surged within my flesh, the pain was unbearable, and I could feel my skin pierce against it’s own will. At first, Dwight sneezing onto me with some odd glowing thing was..disgusting. But as soon as that thing started to wrap around my open wounds well..
Let’s just say..it’s not what I wished to happen..

Ooo, is that a third eye!? It looks so coolll!
The killer’s third eye looks at Susie with pure admiration, leaking blight tears of joy as the Spirit huffs and lays calmly on a stuffy bean bag. The eye looked pleased with her comment, overall happy as well.
“....Careful there....I wouldn’t want you to be infected now because you made it cry..”

Combined with this ask >> (How do you feel about Dwight having.. infected you like this?)
“...The blight is not the worst after you get it. For Dwight? I pay no mind. He’s still my friend..”
