BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War ep 10 review
The whole battle, Unohana VS. Zaraki, is probably one of my favorite battles in the whole Bleach anime. While it's somewhat straightforward, there were just so many feelings and raw emotions in there.
Unohana's inner monologue in between her fighting against Zaraki, getting flashbacks of her master plan to make Zaraki what he once was, Zaraki slowly realizing things...ah, Unohana VS. Zaraki battle is truly one of best battles there is.
Writing of Unohana's master plan...I loved how she made it sound as if she mastered healing arts just to heal herself in the heat of the battle, but in reality, we all know better. (I bet Zaraki realized that too in the end.) In reality, she learned it just so she could stab and heal Zaraki enough times to bring him back. What he truly is. A magnificent fighter and even beyond that.
I swear in Unohana's flashback when she saw young Zaraki on top of that pile of bodies, she got an orgasm. The look on her face, the moment her eye grew bigger just a fraction when she realized it was Zaraki who had made that huge pile...yeah, it was in that moment, her endless boredom would finally be satisfied after such a long.
It's kind of funny since in the manga it was implied Unohana made that huge pile of bodies, so kudos to the staff elaborating, no, it wasn't Unohana's doing but just some small kid's. A very battle-crazed kid who was basically carved from the same wood as Unohana herself. Yet at the same time not.
It's interesting how much Unohana praised Zaraki in her inner monologue and I absolutely loved how animators portrayed her horror when she realized, she wasn't in fact that strong and because of that, the kid who could have won her...was starting to suppress her. Oh, the look on her face was just delicious as she realized she wasn't doing any good to Zaraki in that past flashback, but she couldn't stop. She was beyond that point. They both were enjoying the fight yet at some point...they both realized it would eventually come to an ending, hence Zaraki started to suppress himself and Unohana could only watch...such a paradox. Both want to fight until the very end but fear the very same end.
Ah, Unohana's voice actress really nailed it all. The way she talked, the feverish sound she had yet at the same time that soft, sophisticated one that Retsu would use...what a perfect blend of Retsu and Yachiru in one woman. A woman who wants to fight. A woman who heals. A woman who is just awesome. Truly, Unohana was a great character. I think TYBW just added to her character and thanks to this arc, I bet many people ended up loving her if they hadn't already.
Finally, we got to see Unohana's Bankai in color! I've to admit, when I saw it in the manga first time, I couldn't really make out what it did or what it was, because if everything is just black...welp. The color really does wonders to things, eh?
Unohana's Bankai is truly beautiful yet terrifying.
Anyway, it was nice how they switched the POV middle of the fight from Unohana to Zaraki. It truly felt like two fighters 'talking' through their fighting...which they ended up doing. I've always wondered how it works but seeing it like this...it made perfect sense. It suited them so well to speak through their blades.
They made Unohana's death scene super pretty. Almost poetically so. There was also that romantic edge to it. I'm happy they changed her wording 'joy' instead of 'love' as many manga readers twisted that. Because to me, it always seemed it was about the joy of the battle. Yet at the same time, there is something very romantic in it...the way we describe fighting and battling in both literature and art, it's always so romantically described. It's not ugly or painful. Just...pretty. I think this showed especially well the romanticized view of the battle and its ending.
Oooh! Zaraki's Zanpakuto spirit speaking to him was a nice 'farewell' gift from Unohana or at least it felt like that. I really liked that and the fact that Zanpakuto's voice was very pretty and feminine and there was that hint of childishness in it...manga readers will get my reference. I wonder who voices Zaraki's Zanpakuto spirit? Is it the same voice actress as (manga spoiler) Yachiru?
Anyway, that was a nice addition and they showed that one past Kenpachi who Zaraki later on won (if I recall correctly from light novel spoilers). The fact they showed that and Kenpachi with Yachiru...I see what you did there animators and I liked it!
Oh my gosh, what? After that serious battle between Unohana and Zaraki, we're whisked right into...I don't know what, but man, I couldn't help but laugh at how corny Nimaya appeared with his rockstar behavior. xD Good thing there was that interlude card in-between Unohana VS. Zaraki fighting and Nimaya's introduction as otherwise the huge contrast between the two scenes would have clashed badly. Even so...that was a funny way to introduce Nimaya.
And they just added to the heat by introducing Nimaya's almost red-light district, lol. xD I've to give it to Ichigo and Renji for keeping their cool when that all happened. It almost felt like Nimaya was testing them if they would give in to temptation or not. But knowing those blockheads...there wasn't even a change to that, eh?
Did you see that one small slip animators did? Unless they did it on purpose? Nimaya was using a modern smartphone and based on the manga's timeline...there shouldn't just yet be any smartphones. Unless some shinigami in Zero Squad already invented those and shared that technology, but it hadn't yet reached normal shinigami in Seireitei...I don't know. Bleach was always quite consistent when came to technology and how 'modern' technology they could use, so that felt a bit...Ditto. But for the sake of everything, I'll let that slip by. (Because I can't be sure if it was a slip or done on purpose.)
It was cute how Nimaya and Kon hit off. xD
I've to admit, Nimaya's asauchi are scary. Then again, the fact their eyes are basically teeth falls at least for me into the horror category... a good thing when Ichigo and Renji had to fight against those, there was mostly dark in that hut, so we couldn't see that well those. But that whole scene made me think of that old tale about well, trying to get out of there...symbolic, eh? Then again, Nimaya himself feels very symbolic person, despite the way he carries himself. Especially when he explained in the end to Ichigo the fact he is human and not shinigami. Still makes me snort because Ichigo is much more than just a 'human'.
Oh well, manga readers know what will come next. Some big reveals about Ichigo's past. I guess they'll probably use two last episodes of this season (I hope dearly they'll make a second season or sort of) to that or only use one episode and the last episode will wrap up things nicely before we'll move back to the Quincy war in the next season. Because we'll get another one, right? Right??

Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Episode 10
Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Episode 10
Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Episode 10 is basically split into two parts, the conclusion of the fight between Unohana and Kenpachi and the meeting with Renji, Ichigo, and Oetsu Nimaiya. In the Hooden region, Nimaiya puts Renji and Ichigo through a series of silly trials. I’ll be honest I just don’t care about this section of the episode. Oetsu Nimaiya is a cool character but I just not…

Ichihime are made for each other 💖
I have no clue why people hate Orihime? It’s okay they have opinions but no need to go all brutal on her. Even when she gets Ichigo at the end? It’s okay people ship Ichigo x Rukia and I like the fan art of them but doesn’t mean I ship them. I saw amazing fan art of Ichihime and was slowly starting to ship them. Then all of a sudden I understand that they are made for each other while watching the Hueco Munedo Arc. People say Orihime is weak and is a crybaby but they don’t get how strong she gets later in the Fullbringer Arc and Thousand Year Blood War Arc. The reason why she cries is because she shows how concern she is of Ichigo getting hurt and even her friends. How she is strong that she kept those emotions in without anyone worrying about her being like that. She went to Hueco Munedo to protect the people she loves. Also since she was beaten up by Loly and Menoly, she didn’t fight back because she isn’t a violent person. Then she healed them after they got hurt badly. This shows that Orihime choose not to be a violent person to them because she isn’t that kind of person. She will fight to protect the people that she cares about. People didn’t respect her in the anime since they watched the fillers and there were more Ichiruki moments in the filler episodes. But Ichihime is shipped more in Hueco Munedo arc if you read the manga. Ichiruki, I get that it would be shipped more in the beginning of the series and the Soul Society Arc even when you read the manga. But Ichihime for the win and Rukia looks good with Renji since he’s a 10/10. Also I can see why Ichigo married Orihime. I heard about them being together before watching the series for real since Bleach has been around for awhile and idk if I was gonna watch it and or have time to see it. Idk how it was gonna end and who Ichigo was gonna end up with since the story was still continuing which was in 2015 while I was getting into anime. Then I later heard he ends up with Orihime and I was like I knew that was gonna happen since the fans weren’t happy of who their favorites ended up with. But I’m not mad about it tbh I’m happy that Tite Kubo gave the series an ending since he worked on it so long. Honestly it’s okay to have an opinion on these kind of things but I just don’t like people being toxic and dramatic about it. I am a multi shipper for Ichigo like Ichihime and I’m doing an Ichigo x OC one-shot series. Also yes I have two yaoi ships for Ichigo which is Grimmjow x Ichigo and Ichigo x Renji because why not.
P.S. Ngl, for both ships Ichihime and Ichiruki, I still envy Rukia and Orihime being with Ichigo since he’s my favorite and for RenRuki, I envy Rukia being with Renji since he’s one of my favorites.

2023 Summer Anime
This is the anime season I've been waiting for this year:
Jujutsu Kaisen - Season 2 speaks for itself, long awaited, goated characters, fun action packed story
Bleach: Thousand year Blood War - Season 2 One of the best come backs of all time for an anime, the first season was absolutely worth waiting 10+ years for. Season 2 back to kill it again I'm sure.
Horimiya: Piece - 13 Episodes One of my favourite shoujo romance series. This isn't the second season but it's a lot of new content that didn't make it into the original series. Another one lots of people have been waiting for.
Another one of my all time favourite shoujo (?)/fantasy? series is coming back this season as well: Sugar Apple Fairy Tale This was such a brutal cliffhanger to leave us on in the first half and I honestly cried so much. This is a highly anticipated second cour for me. We also have Mushoku tensei season 2 coming this season. While I feel like it's definitely one of the top isekais out there, I'm not too sure how this second season will do, it seems a bit darker and has a different vibe to it. We'll have to wait and see. There's also a bunch of series that attempted to air in the winter series but were halted for one reason or another: The misfit at demon lord academy - season 2 The devil as a part timer!! - season 2 After watching what they did release originally, I feel like these series could honestly have been left alone and been such solid series. Who knows if they'll redeem themselves. NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a - it seems like this is only going to be 4 episodes, not too sure what's New Series:
The Girl I like forgot her Glasses A new romance series that looks straightforward and wholesome. Pretty much what the title says. It's done by an older studio, known for the 2012 anime "K". It seems like they're trying to make a comeback as they're also releasing the following show this season: The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today I've heard of the manga for this series and it's supposed to be quite highly rated but I honestly know nothing about it. My guess is that it'll be popular with the manga readers but likely won't get too much traction in the wider audiences. My Happy Marriage Historical romance series that honestly looks like it checks all the boxes for me. Arranged marriage by evil step-mother of a quiet girl to a supposed cold hearted commander with money. The quality animations are honestly a bonus.
Zom 100 I think this is exactly the kind of show that'll do well as an anime, it's big, loud, and stupid (in a good way). A 24year old salaryman realizes he never has to work again when the zombie apocalypse hits japan. Definitely a fun one to watch this season.
Helck This is a new fantasy/comedy series where a human - Helck, is nominated as demon lord. Big muscle brain who hates other humans and wants to destroy humanity. The manga was just released in english so I've heard the name around recently and think it'll be a fun watch. Dark Gathering A new horror/supernatural series where a shut in start working for a child prodigy psychic who wants to hunt down the spirit related to her mothers disappearance. Seems like it could be a half-decent supernatural series, it's been a while since I've watched one so i'll likely check it out.
Undead Girl Murder Farce Another interesting dark looking series. It's about a disembodied head who's a detective who travels with her half-demon friend and maid around Europe solving supernatural related mysteries. Liar, Liar A big brain battle anime about people faking each other out to win some kind of tournament (?) I know people like this kinda series quite a bit, like Classroom of the Elite so I figured I'd throw this in incase you're interested. Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero A new comedy fantasy series that's popular in the manga realm. After 10 year the hero and the retired demon lord room together as the Demon lord tries to get the hero back in shape. What I wanted from Devil as a part-timer. Record of Ragnarok - Season 2 I honestly have so much fun with this series and have no complaints about the animation style, looking forward to the new battles. Along the same lines: Hanma Baki- Season 2 Easy brainless violence/entertainment Link Click 2 I really need to get to watching the first season, I know this is supposed to be an incredible series with solid animations. Fate/Strange Fake A new season of fate, animated by A-1 who'll be doing solo leveling. I've been putting off watching the series but honestly will likely try and catch up for this season. Sequels: Masamune Kun's Revenge R (season 2) Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 3 BSD Season 5 The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 2 Spy Classroom Season 2 Others/Isekai/Fantasy: The Gene of AI - technically just sci fi - detroit become human meets medical show Hero Classroom - honestly the one that has the most potential out of this list - Hero/Fantasy/Ecchi/School Genre Atelier Ryza - looks a little promising, new alchemy apprentice in fantasy world Reign of the Seven Spellblades - Harry Potter type fantasy school (but not really in a good way)

BLEACH: The Thousand Year Blood War Ep 18 & 19 Reactions and Thoughts
Overall reaction:
First up, I didn't write anything for episode 18 last week because when I sat down to do it, all I could think to talk about was Renji's bankai reveal, which was epic, but didn't have much more to say beyond that. I loved the whole thing though, they made Renji look like such a badass throughout. And the reveal itself was *chef's kiss*
As for this week...WOW. JUST WOW. INCREDIBLE, AMAZING, WOW. There's one main highlight and you all know what it is. Just...look at her:
This is one of the most stunning things I've ever seen coming out of this show, that includes the original series. Hell, this is one of the most stunning bits of animation I've ever seen. How did they make her bankai more pretty and elegant than it already was in the manga?! I just love that her collar and sleeves are transparent, and the little details like the snowflake pattern that constantly moves over her clothes.
The visuals for this episode were so amazing, and as you can tell, I can't reblogging gifs of it. I loved every second from a visual standpoint, everything was beautifully drawn and coloured, whether it was make Rukia look fierce or terrified or beautiful, or to make As Nodt more creepy and hellish than he already is. I mean, just look at this creep:
I loved this design in the manga, and I am LOVING it here now! Paired with church bells and music, this was a fantastic reveal.
As this adaption continues to show, when it comes to the fights of this arc, it's 10/10. Whether it's added content, hearing these characters say the lines, or just finally seeing these panels animated, it's reminding me of why I was so desperate to see this arc adapted into an anime. The moment I saw As Nodt's hand graze Rukia's, and she flinches and tries to find him, I got hyped. The moment he transformed into his Vollstandig, I was screaming. And then Rukia unleashes her bankai, and I was rolling in my chair. If As Nodt vs Rukia doesn't go down as one of the best anime fights from this year, I'll be shocked.
For one, while it goes without saying at this point, I cannot emphasis enough how GOOD the animation is:
I also loved the call back to decaying characters and the flies and how they were used for Rukia's greatest fear. It's a connection to Byakuya, an experience they can say they've both shared now, and it adds to the scenes that come next when he tells her he's proud of her and he helps her defrost.
Speaking of that scene, it was already a great moment in the manga, but see it not only animated but voiced, I teared up a little. I looked forward to seeing the dub version of the scene too, I have no doubt Michelle Ruff and Dan Woren will do great here. It's a small, emotional moment for the two them, and it's more or less a conclusion their brother-sister arc. We've come a long way since the beginning, huh?
While we're on voice acting, can we give As Nodt actor absolute praise. He made him so gosh dark creepy throughout. This is the kind of voice I would hear while reading the manga, and the way he was able to morph his voice from quiet monotony to raging growls was just amazing. He was a standout in the episode for me honestly.
If I had two nit-picks about the animation, one is that As Nodt's eyeball monsters looked a little weird and out of place, but it's so small it didn't take away from the fight for me. The other is the weird video filter they used over Rukia's flashbacks; not sure why they used that filter? Is it trying to say the original show is that old now? Were they trying to be creative? Regardless, it jarred me a little, but again, it's a nit pick in what is otherwise a fantastic episode.
Overall, it was an amazing episode that will likely be in my top fifteen of the arc of the show. Next week, I'm preparing for two shikai reveals and maybe a few tears ;_;

Summer 2023 Anime-Round Up
A pretty mediocre season of anime tbh. But still some hidden gems to be found and appreciated. RIP to Zom 100 btw lmao. Anyway, here's the round up!
Anime of the Season: Bungou Stray Dogs 5th Season
Best Opening: Ao no Sumika (Jujutsu Kaisen S2)
Best Ending: Akari: (Jujutsu Kaisen S2)
Drops: Tenpuru, Liar Liar
Plans to Watch at a later date: Bang Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! , Dark Gathering, Spy Classroom Season 2
Completed:
Jobless Reincarnation: Season 2 - (6/10)
They told me that this season was just Rudeus trying to cure his ED. Too bad I didn't believe them. Not a fan of the "Solve my heartbreak over one of harem girls dumping me by finding another one of my harem girls" narrative that went on for 5 episodes more than it needed too. Unsure if I'll come back for more of this. After 3 cours of this show, I think I can confidently say I just don't like Rudeus.
Horimiya: Piece - (8/10)
Not every side-story worked for me, but most of them were pretty good. I just love how stupid and honest these kids are. Sometimes, the way anime glorifies high school life can be overbearing, but I can't help but wishing I enjoyed those days more whenever I watch this show. Gonna miss it.
Remi best girl.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Arc Part 2 - (7/10)
Definitely felt the exhaustion I remembered when reading the manga. I'm not sure what's Kubo fascination with long strings of fights while the plot stands completely still. Didn't enjoy it during the Arrancar arc, not enjoying now. At least Squad 0 redeemed themselves (somewhat)
My Happy Marriage - (8/10)
Still believe this show would be better if it didn't have all that supernatural stuff. Nevertheless, still enjoyable romance. Mio is a great lead and her development alongside Kiyoka was really good. We will be there for Season 2.
Reign of the Seven Spellblades - (6/10)
Remember when "Magic High School" was the genre that was oversaturated? Me neither. This show was enjoyable but had some weird moments. Also for once, I'd like a magic show that doesn't obsesses over the reproductive system. Probably won't watch any foreseeable sequel. Still rooting for Nanao to get that kiss.
Bungou Stray Dogs 5th Season - (9/10)
Actual Peak Fiction. Igarashi and his team at Bones just know how to make this show as stylish and cool as possible. Also this arc is by far the best one we've gotten so far. Could feel the tension at every episode where crazy shit happened. Shame I can't read the manga to find out what happens next lol.
Undead Girl Murder Farce - (8/10)
Now this is a show that had style in every corner of its being. Undead Murder Farce with just so fun to watch. The trio of Aya/Tsugaru/Shizuku is one of my favorites in recent times and the side characters we very memorable. I think the last arc when one for 1 or 2 episodes more than it needed too, but still enjoyable nonetheless
EDENS ZERO 2nd Season - (7/10)
This season was a lot more darker than what I usually expect from Mashima. Wish the presentation wasn't so exact to Fairy Tail, but it has some high points that exceeds it's sister series. Probably will check out the manga if a third season isn't announced sometime in the future.
Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn - (8/10)
An anime series by the team that did all those FGO commercials is any fate fans dream. Cannot wait for the full show of this. I hope Aniplex gives them enough time to animated this (they probably won't)

Fall 2022 Anime Roundup
Somehow yet another season has completed, and this one was a doozy. Not only were there multiple sequels to major franchises like Mob Psycho and My Hero Academia, we got a sequel to Bleach 10+ years after the last season ended. On top of that, there was the highly anticipated debut season of Chainsaw Man, and four adaptations of shoujosei works, which is more than we usually get in an entire year. There was just a ton of stuff on offer this season, and almost all of it was good.
Completed
Anime of the Season: Mob Psycho 100 III
In a season as packed as this one, choosing a favorite was no easy task, and I went back and forth between this and Raven of the Inner Palace. As good as they both were, I'm going to have to give this the edge for pairing its moving story about adolescent turbulence with an absolute spectacle of art and animation. I really can't say enough good things about how Mob steadfastly rejects violence or subjugation as displays of strength or power. The show never gets preachy about it, Mob just sees people's appeals to use his power in destructive ways as pointless and unappealing. ONE said that he set out to write something kind when he wrote Mob Psycho, and I have to say that he definitely succeeded in writing one of the best examples I've seen of positive, non-toxic masculinity. 9/10
First Runner Up: Raven of the Inner Palace
I didn't really know what to expect when I added this to my schedule for the season, and basically only watched it because it had a shoujo label, and I reflexively support shoujosei anime. What I ended up with was a fantastic drama that used one to two episode-long vignettes about various people and spirits around the imperial court to tell a larger story about who the main characters are, and how the events of the past affect them today. The slow development of the relationship between the Raven Consort and the Emperor was extremely satisfying to watch, as was seeing her learn to open up to the people around her. Many of the characters' backstories were tragic or traumatic, and the show handled them with the right amount of thoughtfulness. 9/10
Second Runner Up: Akiba Maid War
I nearly dropped this halfway through the first episode thinking that it was going to be just another P.A.Works original about humbling an idealistic young woman at her first job, and then a gang war broke out. A committed and affectionate parody of gangster movies with enough heart to avoid becoming a cheap joke. 8/10
Bocchi the Rock! - I didn't plan to watch this because the manga runs in one of those lolicon magazines that skeeve me out, but luckily the hype got to me, and I didn't miss out on this spectacularly animated and directed comedy about an introverted girl chasing her rock and roll dreams. 8/10
I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss - This tried to squeeze three light novel volumes into twelve episodes, making episodes 4, 8, and 12 into arc-concluding speed runs, but our villainess was so charmingly spunky and her demon lord boo was so damn fine that I was having too much fun to care about its flaws. 8/10
Spy x Family Part 2 - I kept waiting for the plot to kick back in before finally accepting that this series apparently is more of an episodic comedy than the first cour let on, but it's still plenty entertaining. 8/10
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - I liked, but didn't love, Bleach's original run, and this sequel retains many of the story writing traits I didn't care for, but the visuals got a major upgrade, everyone is smoking hot, and they played "Number One" at the end of the last episode, so I can't help but feel the hype. 8/10
Chainsaw Man - I can both see how skillfully directed and animated this was, and how the characters and story would be appealing to a lot of people, while also disliking the decision to mimic live-action movies, and acknowledging that this story full of misery is just not for me. 7/10
Do It Yourself!! - A cute girls doing cute things show that broke through my exhaustion with the genre by having an unusual activity like carpentry, and mixing it with distinctive character designs and lively animation. 7/10
The Little Lies We All Tell - The visuals for this didn't appeal to me so I didn't pick it up until the season was almost over, but it ended up being a really charming little comedy about four friends with bizarre secrets. 7/10
My Master Has No Tail - The rakugo performances left a little to be desired, but the character interactions in this light comedy about a tanuki taking up rakugo in Meiji era Osaka kept things entertaining. 7/10
Reincarnated as a Sword - If this wasn't a light novel adaptation, and it didn't have so much monologuing from the sword, blah visuals, or mediocre shot composition, this would make a pretty fun story despite the goofy sounding concept. 6/10
Bibliophile Princess - I've read the manga adaptation, so I was really looking forward to this, but some combination of poor animation, questionable story adaptation choices, and an annoying tendency to rehash the same conflict made this a bit of a slog to finish. 6/10
Ongoing
Golden Kamuy S4 - I'm definitely looking forward to watching this when it comes back from hiatus in the spring, as the action was really starting to get interesting, with our competing gangs of charismatic scoundrels about to get back on their bullshit. 8/10
IDOLiSH7 Third BEAT! Part 2 - This part continues with the corporate drama instigated by the extremely hateable villain, while completing Trigger's transformation from antagonist to loveable underdog, and giving some very satisfying character development moments. Looking forward to the concluding four episodes in February. 8/10
One Piece - While I'm definitely still enjoying myself, and this really is the best One Piece has looked during its run, I'm kind of ready to be done with Wano already. 8/10
Play It Cool, Guys - You've heard of cute girls doing cute things, now get ready for the new hotness: cute guys doing airhead things. Just pure, unadulterated fluff that brightens my day. 8/10
My Hero Academia S6 - On the one hand, this was kind of an exhausting anime season for seeing the good guys get the stuffing beat out of them, but on the other hand, seeing Mirko rip a monster's head off with her thighs was some peak content. 7/10
Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun S3 - This season still has most of its charm, and I still love all the characters, but this contest arc is really dragging. 7/10
Dropped
The Eminence in Shadow - This was sold to me as a satirical take on power fantasy isekai, but it was playing all the tropes pretty straight, and the atrocious fanservice in episode 10 made me decide I had better things to do. 6/10

Saw this questionnaire on my dash, and couldn’t resist!
___________________________________________
1: Song of the year? The Rumbling (Attack on Titan OST). AoT started 2022 off CORRECT, lemme tell you.
youtube
2: Album of the year? The Bleach Thousand Year Blood War OST. That Quincy Imperial March gets me going! I can’t wait for the official release.
youtube
3: Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year? Kaho Nakamura, from the Belle (2021) OST. Every song she sang was EXCELLENT, her voice is LITERALLY a bell.
youtube
4: Movie of the year? The only movies I’ve watched this year are anime, and Belle was my favorite, even though it came out in 2021.
5: TV show of the year? TV: AMC’s Interview with the Vampire. Anime: Bleach.
6: Episode of tv or webisode that defined the year for you? Bleach TYBW S01E01, the hype was real--Bleach is BACK, baby! \(^0^)/ This has been the year of astounding adaptations. We waited TEN YEARS for this, and it was PERFECTION.
7: Favorite actor of the year? Jacob Anderson. My mind was blown, seeing Grey Worm from Game of Thrones turn into THIIIIIIIIS sexy AF vampire, WTF?
8: Game of the year? God of War: Ragnarok. Only been waiting FOUR EFFING YEARS for the sequel.
9: Best month for you this year? June & July, when I was on Summer Break.
10: Something that made you cry this year? So much anime, too much homework.
11: Something you want to do again next year? Go to an anime convention.
12: Talk about a new friend you made this year. I met a nice girl in my Greek class who’s super sweet. We study together and spend most of the time fussing about how much we hate Greek. XD
13: How was your birthday this year? I don’t even remember. My Halloween was lovely though.
14: Favorite book you read this year? The only books I read lately are for school, and none of them are what I’d call favorites.
15: What’s a bad habit you picked up this year? Getting fat off of junk food. I’ve never been this big in my life. I’m depressed.
16: Post a picture from the beginning of the year:
I really didn’t sim much this year--the only pic I posted in January was from my New Years miniset. U_U
17: Post a picture from the end of the year:
My newest hyperfixation--I make myself tired.
18: A memorable meal this year? I ate raw fish at a sushi place for the first time. Never again. At least I wasn’t the one paying. DEEP FRY my food, please, thanks.
19: What’re you excited about for next year? My fave professor’s coming off sabbatical next year, so I’m stoked! I was dead bored this year.
20: What’s something you learned this year? A lot. How much of it will be relevant to my research though....? HA.
21: What’s something new about your place of residence (room, home, or general location) now vs the start of the year? The extra layer of dust over everything, cuz I ain’t in the mood to clean.
22: Favorite place you visited this year? My mom’s is the only place I ever travel to.
23: If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be? Get more sleep, idiot, and put the Pepsi down.
24: Did you keep any New Year’s Resolutions? Not really U_U I didn’t get around to doing any Dragon Age or Cyberpunk stuff this year. And I only did a little bit of the Untamed gameplay. The most headway I made was with Bleach, but I didn’t even finish the Substitute Arc--I really wanted to get to the Soul Society stuff.
25: Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one: I REcreated plenty of sims from a bunch of new fandom INSP gameplays, including: Bleach, The Old Guard, Critical Role, and Interview with the Vampire. I think my favorite has been Caduceus from Critical Role.
I had a lot of fun making him and his CC with all the mushrooms, and the lot I built for him, full of plants and stuff. So rarely do I indulge in High Fantasy, because it’s HARD to do fanciful gameplay--especially for MEN, since everything’s female-oriented in The Sims 3 communitty--unless I make the CC myself--which I hate doing. But I really wanted Caduceus in my game, so, alas.

Happy Simming, and Happy New Year!

Everything I Managed to Watch in 2022
I might as well give you my thoughts on...exactly what it says on the tin. I'll try to keep things short and simple since I'm kinda tired and I wanna finish celebrating the year's end, lmao.
First up, the movies!
Top 5 Favorite Movies:
5. The Bad Guys
4. Sonic the Hedgehog 2
3. Rise of the TMNT
2. Pinocchio (Netflix Movie)
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
Honorable Mentions (still love them!!):
Turning Red
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers
Wendell and Wild
On the television side of things, Smiling Friends, Dead End, The Cuphead Show, and Super Robot Giant Brothers, were pretty good! The Cuphead Show got better after its rather mediocre first season and I grew to love it. Smiling Friends I was happy turned out good as I expected, and I'm excited for season 2. Dead End was a nice surprise, I grew to like the characters and I appreciated how it handled its LGBT and Autism representation. Super Giant Robot Brothers deserves more love, Reel FX did a good job with that one, had some dynamic action and fun character moments.
For decent stuff, the only one was Hamster and Gretel. Will get back to it, but I hope gets a better execution than Milo Murphy's Law, which I liked too but the second season wasn't so great, oof.
On the other hand, shows that didn't wowed me were Oddballs and sadly Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight. The former had some decent jokes and maybe a character that amused me like Max, but the other attempts at jokes fell flat and characters like Echo really annoyed me.
The Dragon Knight was like the biggest disappointment for me. As a huge fan of KFP, I was hoping it would turn out to be a good show, maybe a better outing than the last KFP TV show. But I stopped at I think episode 5 and lost interest all around. The animation was a bit unfinished, and the writing choices were kind of questionable. I am glad they brought back Jack Black as Po, but alas...
There's like other shows that aired this year along with new seasons of other shows I love, but I'll watch them for next year.
For the anime stuff, Demon Slayer Season 2 was great, same with Spy X Family and Attack on Titan. Really happy I managed to give it another shot. Chainsaw Man also aired and of course was incredible. I'm already caught up with the manga and I'm eager to see how they'll handle the rest of the story soon. Urusei Yatsura 2022 I also want to shout out. I need to get back into binging the original series, but so far, the reboot is neat!
And also, I made a list of Anime Openings I watched this year and fell in love with. Keep in mind, I haven't seen any of these anime yet based on this list, aside from the ones I just mentioned above and also My Hero Academia, but I lost interest for that series because of story problems lately, yeah...
I'll get the chance to watch the others soon, don’t worry!
So here's the Honorable Mentions first:
Honorable Mentions:
BNHA OP 10: Way better than OP 9 and the visuals were unique, but the song didn't worked for me
Spy X Family OP 2: Visuals and song are neat, but the first op is more stronger to me
Dr. Stone Ryusei: Visuals are decent, but the new version of the first OP song was just incredible
My Top 11 Favorite Anime OPs:
11. Kaguya Sama OP 3 10. Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War OP 1 9. Call of the Night 8. One Piece OP 24 7. Ya Boy Kongming 6. Urusei Yatsura 2022 5. Spy X Family OP 1 4. Mob Psycho III OP 3. Attack on Titan OP 7 2. Chainsaw Man 1. Ranking of Kings OP 2
Boom! That's it! Here's hoping 2023 turns out to be an even greater experience for me, and for the animation community as well!
#house talks shit#2022 retrospective#just mentioning...#the cuphead show#the bad guys#puss in boots the last wish#chainsaw man#rise of the tmnt movie#pretty much the ones i digged the most haha

BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Separation episode 10 review
Toshiro going against Mayuri on that time loop was visually very cool, as they both shined. It was nice to see Toshiro in action, even though he was a zombie...but surprisingly, the fact he had now dark skin and red eyes, suited to him? I don't know, the contrast of his outfit and hair versus his new 'color' was very cool.
Oh boy, Mayuri surely dominated in this episode, eh? The pure agony that bled out of Toshiro as he slowly regained his sense of self was delicious. It was obvious he thought he could cut Mayuri at first, but the more he seemed to gain a sense of him...yeah, the terror just sank to him as while Mayuri looked like a big, glowing sunflower, he was anything but not poisonous one. The viewer (at least I) could just feel how Toshiro spiraled into agony...I suppose in the end it was a good thing because, despite the fact I understood as much about Mayuri's speech as Gigi, Mayuri will fix Toshiro. Maybe not right away, but later on. After all, just that small interaction was enough to bring back Toshiro when compared to Kensei and Rose...ah, they appeared quite zombie when coming to Byakuya's rescue?
Though I couldn't help but wonder what happened to Rangiku, because she appeared with those two, but after a while, it seemed like she just disappeared? Oh well.
Moving on to Byakuya~. Yes, as Hisagi pointed out, there truly is a difference between a captain and a lieutenant. It was very impressive to see Byakuya defeating those three Quincy without even breaking a sweat. Then again, he got a brush-up at Zero Divison. I'm not sure if he also went some training in there like Rukia and Renji, but he clearly came out stronger: both mentally and physically.
Though, PePe's words about Byakuya not feeling love...yeah, I don't think so. I think he just managed to keep his love tighter to himself and not fall for PePe's 'charm'. Ugh. I've always disliked cherub-like figures because...well, PePe was like a primary example at the end of why such caricatures aren't my cup of cacao. I'm just glad in the end he got defeated, though the fact Liltotto ate him kind of felt like something well-deserved. After all, it wasn't at all nice PePe pit everybody against each other and Meninas against Liltotto! Girls, before guys, hm?
Some of the visuals of this episode were absolutely stunning and effective. I especially liked those parts where Mayuri's whole being was turned dark and his eyes were only visible. Ah, the fear in Gigi's eyes when she realized she crossed the wrong opponent... Mayuri is indeed very strong in his own way, not to mention scary. After all, using everything at his disposal to bring victory to shinigamis side? Yeah, that's war, alright.
It was nice there was once again that ending quote, though I wasn't sure just who spoke it...
That little part of Yhwach, Jugram, and Uryuu all but promised in the next episode there will be some epic fighting between them and Zero Squad~. I can't wait~!

2024 Watch Thread Part 5
part 4 https://www.tumblr.com/alolanroy/753737344319930369/2024-watch-thread-part-4?source=share
Berserk Boy: At a certain point I realized I hadn't played it in a month. I think the gameplay is alright, but that's about it. The sprite scaling looks weird and the character design doesn't gel with the Megaman ZX sensibilities. Terrible hoverbike section. 5/10
Warcraft: Putting the Mid in Middle Earth. Without the context of the series, I was never engaged by the movie. The humans were bland and the story felt less interested in a complete story than a beachhead for a franchise. 5/10
Half Life: Blue Shift: Glad I participated in the community event to boost this old game's all-time player count. As a game it didn't really wow me. I think it was overreliant on barrel pushing puzzles when barrel pushing doesn't work well in a few instances. Dispite a few baffling bugs that cost me maybe a combines 25 minutes, it was a quick and enjoyable romp. 6/10
Skyrim: Sirenroot: This may be the most atmospheric mod I've played thus far. This mod makes this one dungeon more gorgeous than anything in the base game by far, and the music sets a really spooky tome. I like that I didn't immediately catch what was going on with the multiple-character paths. While it doesn't equate to any kind of tangible reward, the characters are interesting enough that getting everyone to survive is intrinsically rewarding enough. 8/10
Skyrim: Wyrmstooth: It might be reductive to refer to it as just 'more skyrim' but that opinion congealed when I was stuck doing blackreach again. Some of the quests are fun, but some of the unmarked ones deserved to be marked quests. 6/10
DanDaDan (3 episode premier): I knew nothing about DanDaDan going into this since I was invited by a friend. PEAK. It's understandable how much hay the preroll interviews made about the direction and shot composition. 8/10
Iron Warrior: While I wouldn't say this film was altogether entertaining, the ethereal visuals and dream logic made it a unique watch. I'd like to watch a cut of this without any dialogue, since its story is mostly visuals until the lore-heavy last sprint. Honestly, we gotta put Trogar in a Star Wars, this guy is pure Sith. 6/5/10
Bleach Thousand Year Blood War S1-2: This all-killer-no-filler approach to a bleach adaptation is a real brisk shower after muscling through the Arancar arc. However, some of the fights feel a little too short. It betrays that some of them consist of a handful of attacks and prescribed reversals of fortune. Especially towards the end, I could feel the series sputter as characters the viewer aren't super invested in square off. Points for the great soundtrack. 7/10
Mars Daybreak: A great premise and fun initial hints at worldbuilding got me in, but the energy left my body as it went nowhere. We never really get to know the cast in any meaningful way and there's charitably one character arc. Nothing gets resolved only in the last two episodes to they rush to figure out what they're doing. The robots are sauceless. Theres enough endearing material, but I regret committing to finishing it 5.10
This is Spinal Tap: my watch group didn’t have context going in, so the first few minutes of trying to figure out of this was a mockumentary was a real treasure. While prone to dry spells, when it hits, it hits. 7/10
Adventures of Hercules: This movie really felt like a throwback to the old greek myth epics of golden age Hollywood. Great casting and no real pacing problems to speak of. On the funny side, collecting 7 thunderbolts that drop like a video game is pretty funny and Lou Ferrigno looks like how Bara artists draw men with tits. 7/10
Skyrim Mod: Katana, Journey in the Shadows: I picked up that these are supposed to be characters from some other fantasy series, but the 'Ow the Edge' readings are pretty high. Yeah, this is my OC. Her name is Katana, and she's a cool lesbian with a ninja sword and shes got a sick backstory and a secret shadow side she has to use a magic ring to control. Quest-wise, it felt like a couple of radiant bounties and an anticlimax ending. ambitious scripting for character interactions in the bars, however, there were some conflicts and I had to help it along. The companions themselves are pretty well realized, but to what end? 5/10
Transformers One: While it could never have really delivered on my sky-high expectations of adapting lore of pre-war Cybertron from the Aligned continuity or IDW, it succeeded on getting my partner hooked on Transformers yaoi. It was gorgeous, but maybe needed a teensy bit more sauce to get it over the edge into legendary territory. 8/10
The Wild Robot: My feelings on this are very raw as I'm writing this out. It felt like the golden age Pizar classics I've been missing. If the number of crying parents in my screening was any indication, this was a very heartfelt movie. Points for showing us a minimum of human civilization in this movie. We know exactly as much as we needed to. 9/10
Hard Rock Zombies: It satisfies the assignment of being a feature-length thriller video, but wasn't particularly gripping. The Italian feeling mood and editing was amusing, but my group got bored pretty quick. Bonus points for the best Hitler reveal in any movie yet. -6/10
Gundam Seed Freedom Re-watch: This movie still sucks.
Valor's Kids: A brief glimpse into the world where Niel Breen discovered Second Life. -4/10
Dual to the Death: Fun wuxia action and some really surprising twists and turns. I think this movie capitalizes how cool ninjas are more than most American or Japanese films. Any low points are worth it for the phenomenal final confrontation. 8/10
12 Angry Men: This film has more than earned its reputation. It balances subtlety and overt discussions on societal views on poverty, generational abuse, anti-black racism and xenophobia. It made me reconsider all my years of groaning at jury duty and think about the importance and power I have as a citizen. I can't really fault it for being a bunch of white dudes though, because their predisposed hegemony dictating the fate of an unseen black kid was part of the point. The presence of an unused women's restroom did call it into attention though. 9/10
Wallace and Gromit - A Grand Day Out: A real banger, though I find it interesting that a few parts I thought were scary as a really little kid. 8/10
Skyrim - Meridia's Order: Well executed, though I feel like it could have used a slightly wider scope. The side content to the main quest felt very limited, especially with how it draws comparison to dawngaurd. If it were a released expansion, I would say it lacks in scope, but has quest design above the usual Skyrim standard. 7/10
Skyrim - Hel Rising: I think it was a little rough around the edges and had a lot of character for a more complex dungeon. However, poorly signposted puzzles and gamebreaking bugs that nearly killed my game drop it down a few points. I also wonder how the version I played (TrueHel) stacks up against the old de-listed versions. 5/10
Megalopolis: Kinda like Zardoz, I watched this with a friend expecting a bizarre mess that twitter had promised me. Instead I was on the edge of my seat. I was enraptured by what was being cooked and had one of the most genuine bust-a-gut laughs at one of the jokes in recent memory. The joker posits that we live in a society. Cesar Megalopolis posits we live in a civilization. 9.5/10
Amityville in Space: Fuck this -4/10
Trump vs The Illuminati: The first movie made of default unreal engine assets and stock footage -2/10
Wizards of the Lost Kingdom: IDK if it was the reused footage, but I couldn't help but feel like I'd already seen it. -3/10
Attack on Titan (2022): This feels like if Serenity got like 23 direct to DVD sequels of diminishing returns. Incomprehensible/ -4/10
Ronin Mecha 4-Warrior of the Frontier: Not even good enough to finish. What a sad way to end this franchise. -31/0
Wallace and Gromit-The Wrong Trousers: Delightful. 7/10
Wallace and Gromit-A Close Shave: I think this one has gone up in my rankings. The childlike whimsey of the bike chase sequence and the plane sidecar put a real smile on my face. 7/10
First Blood: There's a really good anti-cop reading to the movie in the sense that its the text of the film, but I don't think the audience this series ended up with is ready to accept that. I wish they stopped here. 8/10

Fall 2022 Anime Reviews/Ratings
Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War It's been a good while since I've enjoyed and anime this much. Bleach was one of if not, the first anime I ever watched and I could not be more stoked to have been able to watch its continuation now, 10 years later. This was actually a bit of a surprise. The first half honestly felt like an artists serious depiction of a historical drama and the music absolutely set the tone throughout the whole half. The themes were on point, the art style was out of this world and it definitely hit hard. The second half has was much more classic bleach and easily brought up the mood but also had a solid balance of important story arcs that really filled in some pieces of the world that I didn't know I needed. I loved every second of this season and this is the kind of quality this show deserves. 10/10 - Masterpiece
Chainsaw-man This was a manga that I personally didn't enjoy, just wasn't for me, but damn the anime is solid. While I still didn't feel too attached to the characters, I thoroughly enjoyed the way they did the story. The animations were god honest next level. I can't imagine anything past the quality we have in this series and man I wish MAPPA applied this much tlc to other series like JJK. (Maybe season 2 🤞) Overall a solid action, sci-fi? punk?? series. 9/10 - Great
Blue Lock - (Still airing - 12/24) Another highly-anticipated series. I only recently picked up this manga and low-key it sucked that the english releases were so far behind. Volume 3 released after the anime already aired the same content. Besides that, this series is an absolutely amazing sports series. It hits all the checkboxes for a standard quirk-based sports show but also outdoes it with stellar animations. I love the style so much and I'm looking forward to what other series this studio picks up. (Same studio that did Tensura) 9/10 - Great My Hero Academia - Season 6 (Still airing - 13/25) This season is honestly what I've been waiting for. I feel that each season has it's peaks, but we're definitely hitting the climax of the story here and I'm loving it. The series has really come into it's own and has some serioulsly solid action and super-hero sequences. I genuinely enjoyed this season the most out of the series and high hopes for the future of this show. 9/10 - Great
Spy x Family - Cour 2 I have been waiting for the tennis arc to be animated. My god, I love this show. It really just hits everything I need from a shonen series and makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Never a moment without entertainment and I just love the characters so much. 9/10 - Great The Eminence in Shadow (Still airing - 12/20) I was genuinely surprised by this show. Its concept isn't anything crazy but I feel the writing is really well paced and is just generally very entertaining to watch. 8/10 - Very Good
Bocchi The Rock This is definitely the slice of life of the season. I had a lot of fun with the characters in this show and low-key related to a lot of the awkwardness bocchi emanates. I felt it was just overall such a simple and wholesome series. A good one to watch for fun. 8/10 - Very Good Mob Psycho III I'm a huge fan of ONE's works. One punch is easily one of my top 5 series. While I really enjoyed the first two seasons of mob, I found I just wasn't as into this season. The first half was slow and really didn't feel special. The second half, while it was awesome to see and is definitely amazing, there was really just nothing of note to spark it. Like this all happened in one episode. In the end, the animations and story are still far better than many shows out there is definitely worth watching. 8/10 - Very Good I'm the Villainess, so I'm Taming the Last Boss I actually loved this one. It took a trope that's typically seen in fantasy novels and turned it into an anime. I really like the different stories and arcs that took place in the series and I ended up getting quite attached to all the characters. 8/10 - Very Good To Your Eternity Season 2 (Still airing - 10/20) I've heard a lot that this series really falls off the further you get into it. While I do agree that it's nowhere near as good as the first half of season 1, I still really enjoy the progression of time and Fushi's evolution. I think the story so far is interesting enough to continue watching but definitely less hook than the original concept. 7/10 - Good More than a Married Couple, but not Lovers This series was a lot of fun. I think it walked a really fine line between the right amount of ecchi/spice and wholesome. Again with this one, I really like the different scenarios the characters were put in and while I did enjoy the series, it still felt like it lacked something for me. Either way, definitely a fun little non-standard romance series. 7/10 - Good The Bibliophile Princess I didn't think that I was going to keep watching this show after the first few episodes tbh, but i'm glad I did. I felt that it was a really nice genuine romance that addressed a lot of things in their world. They just did the genre well and I enjoyed the series. 7/10 - Good
Reincarnated as a Sword I know the LN readers have been waiting for this one. I think what i've found recently is that I really enjoy the concept behind these kinds of isekais but I've been preferring to read them rather than watch it. The series kinda felt mid. I did like the characters and the stories but didn't feel like anything special. I'm sure the actual novel is probably more entertaining and worth a read. 6/10 - Fine
