10: is there a character or ship you'd love to write for, but haven't yet?

oooo good question!! the thing is, i'm a little peculiar about my writing-- if it's not a reader insert, i literally never want to write it? it might be a little weird, but stay w me here!! the whole point of me writing is that i want to immerse myself, so if there's a ship i want to try out, i always write it. ALWAYS! so i've written for so so so many characters/people, but i won't ever publish them lol. the 57 chapters of a Thomas Brodie-Sangster fanfic I wrote a few years ago will stay in my vault for example lol

BUT, the one i actually want to write for is Bill's character in the film Victoria! Otto!!!!! my beloved<33 this was the first film I ever saw him in and i became hyperfixated on literally everything concerning the film/the character, and oh my lord. i so desperately want to write him, but i know that literally no one has seen this film. i DID write a fic for him tho, it was about 12 chapters long, but it was in my mother tongue and my god it was TRASHHHHH by my standards today!! still, it was cute, and it was purely angst. soooo i would love love love to write for Otto!

12: what was the first fandom you ever wrote for?

... okay, yes. i was RAGING k-pop fan, so the first fandom i ever wrote for was EXO! it was a ship called Chanbaek, and i exclusively only read mlm for a while so that's what i wrote? (don't blame 13 year old me oops) and it was only when i read my first reader insert that everything switched for me lol. still, i love writing for EXO! i even wrote a little something for one of the members, Sehun, this summer, because i had an a/b/o fixation that i needed to get on paper to get it out of my mind!!!!! it was haunting me ahahah, so yes......... i am a k-pop fan. consider this my coming out statement as a k-pop stan.

     beth harmon is orphaned at age eight when her mother dies in a car crash.   growing up in an orphanage in kentucky,   she is taught chess by the custodian mr.   shaibel,   and soon becomes a chess prodigy.   while at the orphanage,   she struggles with an addiction to tranquilizers.   in her teens she is adopted by the wheatley family and begins her rapid rise in the chess world,   eventually challenging the top soviet players.   as her skill and profile grows,   so does her dependency on tranquilizers and eventually alcohol

     in her adulthood,   beth is portrayed as an obsessive,   unable to keep any other element in her life in order outside of her own rise within the chess competitive landscape.   she is a young woman with undiagnosed autism and a good portion of her hyperfixation on the game of chess can be attributed to her particular neurosis.   she is also someone who is fairly socially awkward and prefers her own company over the company of others.   part of the reason why she enjoys chess is the fact that it doesn't require a conversation or an interaction between players besides what is occurring on the board itself.

     outside of her career she has trouble maintaining personal relationships.   between her addictions and the amount of focus she puts into improving her strategies,   she is an unreliable friend,   often disappearing for months at a time without a single phone call or word.   overall she is a difficult person to get close to,   especially to those who exist outside of the competitive world of chess.   the game will always be the center of her life no matter who chooses to stay by her side.

ninth house / dark academia: what would you do to never lose again?    after a crushing defeat on the competitive chess circuit beth looks to unsavory means to ensure all her future victories.   making a faustian bargain with a chaos demon she sells a fraction of her soul for boundless luck.   enrolling into yale as a mathematics and russian language double major she seeks out the school's magical underbelly once her demon begins to slip its leash.    

grishaverse: hailing from the wandering isle beth is currently a student enrolled in the university of ketterdam.   when she's not in classes she can be seen making bets over chess with her wealthy classmates.   her wins help fund her tuition and also are a way for her to practice her heartrending abilities by checking the pulse points of her opponents.   knowing their heart rates helps her guess their next move… and she may toy with the nervous system of her more vindictive adversaries.   her grisha status is a secret to the broader public and only her friend jolene is aware of beth's affinity.   

pjo / greco-roman myth verse: a gifted tactician and roman demi-goddess, beth is a daughter of mars and valued asset of the legion due to her mind for strategy. her efforts to protect the roman encampment are usually carried out from behind closed doors and she is a figure heavily shrouded in mystery as she herself has never seen battle despite being the progeny of a war god ( this verse is still HEAVILY under construction but i am looking to develop it further ! )

[this is not a mouthwashing lore ramble. this is me not being in the fandom anymore.]

i got into mouthwash on saturday, and it honestly terrified me. i explored it because i was interested in what a friend was into, and torchered characters are my thing. i watched a playthrough so i didn’t spoil it for myself like an analysis would, but the atmosphere was layered on thick and a bit too bleak for me. i took space from the game, and that’s when the hyperfixation started. i came back and explored a lot of youtube and tumblr’s offer on the fandom. i had a large amount of unobstructed fun since i hadn’t had a hyperfixation i could stim to in years. but that’s when the themes came back to me—and amplified. it triggered me more than i thought. nonetheless, i drew fanart and told people around me about it. i reblogged it a bunch on tumblr too, and released snippets of my fanart.

i don’t blame anyone. not the fandom or that friend. ya’ll love this fandom and i love that for you so much <33. it’s just not for me 🤷. i’m not gonna dig around in the fandom anymore. it’s been confusing balancing my inner voice with a strange hyperfixation that arose, and especially so since i’ve missed hyperfixating on something new. oh well. best wishes to ya’ll!

33. What skills do they have that are a surprise to the people around them?

he enjoys sketching buildings/cityscapes, especially when he gets to visit the citadel or other species' homeworlds. he was a spacer, so even earth is fascinating to him. it always surprises people to see how detailed and accurate his drawings are.

35. Which companions have they lost? How do they cope with it?

i assume this means in canon i.e. virmire/suicide mission? he chose kaidan on virmire because of rank, but he takes ash's loss extremely hard because he feels like he robbed her of her chance to redeem her family. he struggles with her death for a long time, because he knows the pressure of being part of an alliance family.

37. Got any bad habits?

haven't thought much about this but i'm thinking avoidant behavior and a past history of nail-biting dskjfhsdjk

39. Do they keep around any sentimental items?

not at first but after the sr-1 gets destroyed he keeps his old dog tags to keep him connected to the alliance while he works with cerberus (he was a sole survivor so me2 is like rock bottom for him) and to remind him that just because he's survived some scrapes with death, it doesn't mean he always will

18. Who’s the dream team? Which companions does Shepard fight best with and why?

for audrey, people that can get up into the fray while she hangs back and snipes/gives orders are the best. she usually takes one biotic and one high-damage squadmate, so like wrex and liara would have been a good team for her in me1

28. What about hyperfixations? What’s the topic that will get Shepard rolling no matter the person or place

hyperfixations: when she gets starts on a jewelry/sculpting project she can get very consumed by it. when she gets materials for tinkering she tends to keep to her cabin until she's made something. for the second part, she doesn't laugh a lot unless she's comfortable with the people around, but on the other hand it's really easy to make her laugh if she is comfortable with you. she likes her squadmates' senses of humor.

38. Does Shepard do any activities with the companions and crew during downtime?

it depends. she's more introverted, but she tries to organize gatherings so that her team can do teambuilding and she understands how important it is for the squad and crew to see her face and interact directly with her. it does make her tired, though, so she needs to decompress after

48. What abilities do they rely on the most in a fight?

she relies heavily on her sniper rifle and tactical cloak

5. How well does Shepard know their crew? Not just the companions, but the folks making up the Normandy

she knows everyone pretty well bc she's personable and outgoing. some people take a while to warm up to her because of her history and she's very unrefined, especially for an officer, but most people eventually see that she's loyal and cares about them, even if they don't always agree with her demeanor or choices

evanna is not the great at expressing emotions that aren't anger or joy. anything more complex than those two will usually see them at the bar

they sacrificed kaidan on virmire, but at the end of the day that sacrifice is kinda overshadowed by her history on earth, where she was forced to kill her own teammates. she carries kaidan's death with her, but she doesn't really blame herself so much as she wishes it didn't have to be that way and kinda like. blames fate/god/the universe.

hellooo <333 omg hi first of all thank you so much for that ask you sent me, it genuinely made my entire night 💘 & ahhh these asks are so fun!! im gonna answer for lana (my oph mc) & audrey (my trr mc) because they’re my current hyperfixations atm!!

1. lana: okay so i think lana would very much go the digital route. as a doctor & someone who went to med school- efficiency is key & we all know that pen & paper take way longer. she’s an incredibly fast typer, & she likes the fact that she can have all her files & data stored in one space— plus shes not the most organized & is highly likely to loose her handwritten notes!

audrey: now audrey on the other hand is very much the opposite — she’s a pen & paper girlie through and through <33 she enjoys the artistry of making pretty notes, of using different colors & markers & trying out different fonts and styles. she went to business school & her notes were always top tier, and she was nice enough to share with her classmates in need. she’s also an art enthusiast & later goes on to get a second degree in art history (it’s what she wanted to do initially but didn’t feel as though it was ‘legitimate’ enough) so that could be where her fondness for handwritten notes stems from.

2. lana: she’s not big on holidays & vacations and is definitely not the type to go all out, atleast for herself. i think part of it stems from holidays always being a time for excessive opulence & extravagance, as her family was like quite wealthy & used these holidays as a means to host fancy galas & events rather than bond as a family. once she cuts ties with her family (there’s a long messy backstory to that that i won’t bore you with <3) she starts making her own traditions with her best friend dom & her best friend isabella. she always calls dom, he’s her family. bella unfortunately passed away (another long & messy story that i won’t get into rn <3) but her daughter alana is actually lana’s goddaughter (hence their names) & so she always calls alana & her dad up to wish them. she used to be close to isabella’s family until she passed away & then sort of became very stiff & formal with them because she blamed herself for bella’s death (bella took her own life). i think a few years down the line after she gets with ethan, she reconciles with them (they never once blamed her & always considered her a second daughter) because she deserves happiness too yk <3

audrey: audrey’s mom was never in the picture, it was always just her & her dad. audrey loves any holiday & will take it as an opportunity to dress up and go all out. unfortunately, her dad passed away when she was 17 (why do i give all my ocs such traumatic backstories like what’s that all about?), so she can’t exactly call him. her best friend talia is the one she always calls on any holiday, and she’s still big on celebrating all holidays although her birthday now is more of a bittersweet one, something she just likes to celebrate by herself & later on with drake. nothing fancy, just a bottle of whiskey & a night of reminiscence.

3. lana: i mean, she wouldn’t go out of the way to hold the door open for people. if someone happens to be behind her then i mean yeah, she would hold it open for them & wait for them to pass. but she’s definitely not one of those people who’s gonna be holding open the door for like 5-10 people, like do it yourself people she’s busy & got things to do. oh & she would 100% slam the door in someone’s face if she doesn’t like them, and i say good for her <3

audrey: once again, she’s my sweet baby angel. she’s sarcastic & witty and doesn’t let anyone get away with their bullshit— but she’s also a genuinely kind person. so yeah, she would definitely hold the door open for several people, even if she didn’t like them (unless she really really hated someone yk?)

4: lana: you know i have come to the sad conclusion that lana wouldn’t really like me all that much. which is incredibly sad because she is literally my first & favorite oc. she would find me super loud & overly nice (not because im overly nice i just love meeting new people and get really excited) & wouldn’t really want to interact with me in the future (PLEASE THIS IS SO SAD). if we met at a night out though, we would be besties <333 she’s way more fun & easygoing when she’s hammered oops (also when i say besties i mean for that one night only yk like those girls you meet at the club & you’re glued to the hip for that one night but then never speak to each other ever again after the fact? yeah.)

audrey: now audrey on the other hand, oh yeah we would be besties. we have all the same interests�� gilmore girls, taylor swift, cheesy teen rom-coms, 2010 boybands etc. audrey is a very special oc for me because she represents the feeling of owning who you are & not being shamed for having quote unquote girly/basic interests. she used to be embarrassed about what she liked, especially because she dated an older man when she was like 18/19 who really messed with her sense of self & self esteem— but she’s actively worked on herself & gotten therapy and isn’t ashamed of what she likes (i mean she’s got a lot to work on with letting people in on who she really is behind the unflappable & confident facade but that’s a story for another day.) so! i think in the beginning she would find me fun to hang out with, just someone who’s easy-going & fun-loving. i think overtime she would also realize that our friendship could be more than just a ‘fun friendship’ but rather something deeper because i mean i like to think that im a good listener & a decent friend so yeah <333 we would be besties we would have movie nights, we would go to a bar & just talk for hours on end, we would give each other dating advice & just yeah ugh i love her sm!!

Everytime a door produces a loud bang from the impact of the walls make you jump a little as you pressed your back a little more towards the wall of the pantry.

His voice, laced with sugarcoated words, makes your dough crawl as he repeated the same words over and over again.

"Come out, darling. I won't get mad when you come out from your hiding spot. I just want to spend some time with you, my dear!" He spoke in a voice that many of your peers would fell for. You didn't take any of those fake words he spoke towards you, for you only knew that this cookie will literally drag you out from the closet and will keep you locked once again from that luxurious cage he called your bedroom.

You covered your mouth as a way to lessen the breathing sounds you emitted from your mouth and being found by your captor. Silence loomed around each and every corner of the consul's manor, with the exception of the voices of his servants searching for you. You just hoped that they'll simply gave up and if you're lucky enough, you can escape through the window that was left unlocked in the kitchen.

You break out from your thoughts as soon as you heard his expensive shoes walking through the huge kitchen.

Your body began to shake in fear, trying to control the way you breathe. Sweat began to slide off on the side of your head as the footsteps outside from your hiding spot became closer...and closer...and closer....

Until it stopped right directly in front the pantry, his shadow that looms over his body went through the small gaps of the small pantry.

As soon as you heard the door open, you covered your head with you arms, awaiting for his arms to drag you away from your hiding spot but nothing happened to you. Instead, he opened the cupboards and the storage closet where expensive plates and silverware were stored. "Hmm, it looks like you aren't here. I wonder where you are.." Clotted Cream Cookie then left the kitchen in disappointment.

You slowly sighed in relief, thinking you are safe from him but to both to your shock and surprise, the door from the pantry swung wide open. His shadow looms all over your quivering body as the cold wind of the manor gave your skin goosebumps.

You screamed in fear. Your flight and fight instincts came towards your entire body as soon as you saw him by your two eyes. Getting up from your hiding space as quickly as possible, you tried to run away from him, looking for another hiding spot when his hand took a grasp by your waist and carrying you both of his arms (in bridal style).

He gave you a sickening sweet smile towards you as tears began to slide from your face. "Well hello there, darling! And I hope you enjoyed our little game cause this is only just the beginning of our road to forever..."

hey! so i’m a long time harry potter fan, but kind of new to the fandom on here. i know what the marauders are ofc, but kind of confused on the way everyone writes for them, and stuff. could you kind of just give me a brief description of what all that is about? :) thx!!

so because we don't have a lot of canon information on the marauders, a lot has stemmed from their most basic stereotypes. James is often characterized as a cocky jock, sirius as the mysterious badboy, and remus as the shy bookworm. I think that these are all valid characterizations of each of them, but I do love it when people go beyond that!

A large portion of characterization also comes from a fic on AO3, All the Young Dudes. Although this fic is specifically character/character, and not x reader, there's a lot of overlap in its readers with writers on here! it's 500K+ words, so I don't blame you if you don't want to try reading it, however, it's so widely known for a reason, it really is a fantastic fic, and something that people sort of adopted as canon. I will say that Remus in this fic is particularly overlapping with Sirius's stereotypical character, he's less of a shy nerd and more outgoing/sought after/badass. You definitely see this in other fics, he's either the nerdy bookworm or the envy of the school! One of the lines from this fic that you’ll see most often on here is, “Anything for our Moony,” I always see that in people’s headers or bios, so if you see that, just know that that’s where it’s from!

Everyone takes their own artistic liberties with these characters, of course, and as frustrating as the lack of canon info we have on them is, it's so wonderful to see other people's characterizations of them, so it's almost a blessing that jkr didn't touch them!

The set fancast for the marauders (excluding peter because a lot of people don't talk about him on here! there's more positive peter info in ATYD, but he's not always given the same graces here.) were from like,, 2014? i think? and they're just kind of widely accepted but i will state that these are all white actors and I've seen a lot of headcanons and new fancasts with more diverse casts! (A lot of people headcanon that James is South Asian, for example.) However, none of them are as widely spread, so this is the most concrete idea most of us have got of them.

Aaron Taylor Johnson is often portrayed as a young James Potter

Andrew Garfield is often portrayed as a young Remus Lupin

Ben Barnes is often portrayed as a young Sirius Black

Timothee Chalamet is often portrayed as a young Regulus Black

Specifically Ben and Andrew have spoken about knowing that they're fancast as Sirius and Remus, and there's a few clips of them being like dude !! i'm not sirius black !! gary oldman was !! or andrew being like no i'm,, not the werewolf,, that's not me,,, but they are really good sports about it :D

There aren't often fics with other characters from this era, of course there are some but definitely exponentially less than James, Remus, Sirius, or Regulus.
