Skeleton Boys Jobs: Revamp and New Part 2

Warnings: Violence, etc.

Bliss is the Guardian of Positivity and Dusk is the Guardian of Negativity. Comet and Umbra just help their brothers with it. On Earth, however, Umbra is an artist and Comet is a singer.

Valentin is a rough-and-tumble dance teacher. Tarantella is Valentin's dance teaching partner. Waltz and Merrick are both idols.

Gael is a very famous and popular sorcerer for hire. Zayn is also a sorcerer for hire. Smolder and Holden are sorcerers for hire as well, but they pick up lighter jobs.

Elryc is a sorcerer who avoids involving himself with others. Relic, Beyron, and Blaise are all sorcerers for hire.

Rune works for Dusk and is a very dangerous fighter. Runar and Rhydian work with Tusche to get their brother back.

Forrest and Juniper are guards of Laurel. Adair is a licensed doctor.

Morte is a guide in the dark as well as a worker for Dusk. Draven, and Granite work with Tusche to get their brother back.

Lucien is a guide in the light. Vitale and Vitus help fight and guide.

Lenovo is the Destroyer of AUs and Virus helps him sometimes. Virus is a professional hacker. Lenovo is very fond of knitting.

Tusche is the Protector of AUs and Acrylic helps him sometimes. Acrylic is an artist.

Spiro and Dagger are just people who work under Dusk.

Last group for FE4, holy shit, I didn't mean to make so many for this game but my brain saw Milethos right next to Thracia and went OFF. This last group is a big family of 6, and also a bit of a work in progress. Mainly because I'm debating where 2 characters end up.

Meet "My disappointment is immeasurable and my day life is ruined."

Noboru Bhutan Clement: Black hair + black eyes, Baroness/Marchioness of Clement, former Isaach noble, and former sword fighter, mama bear, spoils her kids but isn't afraid to discipline them, hard to get mad, fleed Isaach after her family was framed, eventually clears her name and tries to establish friendly ties between Thracia and Isaach. Befriended Arya and Shannan, told them of her own kids. Died during the war before she successfully allied Isaach and Thriaca

Faron Alex Clement: Blond hair + gold eyes, Baroness/Marquess of Clement, former Milethos noble, and axe fighter, went into a self exile after a scandal in Peruluke, a remorseful man who tries to be good for his kids, puts family above everything, eventually reconciles with his family and helpes Dianthus smuggle goods to Thracia, however he is caught and imprisoned in Gannvale where Dianthus assassinates him to cover her tracks 

Clorinde Verde Rohan: Black hair + black eyes, Marquess of Rohan, former heir of Clement, oldest sibling, highest magic resistance, spear user. Very calm and elegant, intense drive to do her family proud and be a good role model for her siblings, shows her affection in small gestures, eventually flees the continent with Alexandrite to protect her youngest nephew during Loptr's rise to power 

Lupine: Clorinde wyvern, gold with green eyes, largest, best tracker, extremely expressive and prideful, he will sass anyone who isn't Clorinde

Saoirse Carol Dain: Black hair + gold eyes. Current Queen of Thracia, wife of Travant and mother of Arion, inverted minor Bragi, complete magic immunity, sword user, a genius from a low ranking house, became a queen and mother at a very young age, socially awkward and closed off as a result, but genuinely cares for her family, self sacrificial habits, ruthless and effective, took over Thracian underground and stokepiled jewels for future income, gave birth to her second son, Trevor, at 20 and sent him away due to the rising Loptr Cult, eventually died by her own hand once the future of Thracia was secured 

Ciel: Saoirse wyvern, black with blue eyes, fastest, energetic and often acts more like a dog than a wyvern, he was released into the wild after Saoirse sustained a permanent injury in Agusutria defending Travant from Quan

She had been trying to get Blaise off her trail and stop leaving behind breadcrumbs for him to get close to her. It was enough that she'd gotten mixed up with Hercules which meant she didn't need anyone else getting involved. As far as she was concerned this was a job but she knew she was kidding herself. He was a nice guy, something she hadn't had experience with before, and as hard as she was searching to find his Achilles heel she was learning how genuine he was. If he was an actor he was a real good one, enough so that even Meg was starting to believe it. "He's probably dancing with a blonde, he brings a few in but you didn't hear it from me," she said holding up her hands in innocence. The brunette wasn't even sure if the girls themselves knew how many of them he brought around and she'd started to be unable to tell the difference herself. "Well, I wouldn't get too mixed up with Blaise. He's a nice guy and all but I wouldn't want him to find a blonde for you too." Meg hoped he'd picked up on the hint, wanting to keep him for herself which she'd argue was for her freedom and not her own personal desires. He was safer as a job or so she thought, depending on what Hades wanted with him. At least if she kept him close she could work on protecting him while figuring that out. Meg started to walk towards the smoothie counter, knowing he would follow her. "Sounds like Phil keeps you busy, how do you also have time to keep up those pectorals?" She asked with a soft laugh, a smile poking at the edge of her lips as she looked over at him.

Too focused on picking up her mat before Meg could, Hercules hadn't even noticed the slight pause before she answered him. He was far too invested in putting his best foot forward with her to clock that her voice had quivered, ever so slightly, when she mentioned his new friend's name. "Oh, yeah? I haven't seen him around there, but I guess maybe we just haven't run into each other." Her explanation made it sound like they were just casual friends, which was about as close as Herc had gotten to her himself. He couldn't feel threatened by just a friend. "I would say friendly, yeah. I don't know, can you be friends with someone after just meeting them once? Who knows, though, maybe next week we'll go out again." Herc placed the yoga mats back on the rack, turning back to Meg with a raised brow. "Ready whenever you are. Yeah, y'know, I do a lot of jobs around here. I rack the weights, work the front desk, make the smoothies, woo the visitors while they're doing yoga ..." he trailed off, hoping that she understood the sentiment as a smile came to his lips. "Not all of them, though, just one."

September / October Wrap Up

PLEASE LOOK PAST THE FACT THAT WE ARE NEARLY DONE WITH NOVEMBER

I started working in the office/traveling again after Labor Day and had been wondering how it would affect my fandom involvement. I guess we have our answer now - I've been gone more than I've been home lately.

I decided to combine September & October because 1) I ran out of time to do the September post, and 2) the word counts are so laughably small for both of them. I did very little reading overall, and managed to squeak out a fair amount of words written (for me) in between working on another fandom project and some personal projects. I'm desperately hoping to be more present in November (she laughs in despair).

Things I Wrote

September writing was limited to one lone Twitter drabble, which has been since cross-posted to AO3 as (never) yours, (always) mine (dramione, T, 0.5k).

October was a *bit* busier for writing. I started off strong at least, and then suddenly did not have any more time for writing. Offerings are as follows:

You know when you look at someone and just know they're no good? Pansy says it's a sure sign that they pissed you off in a past life. I tell her that's about the funniest shite I've ever heard. I don't need divinity to explain myself; I've always been good at reading people. That's just how I am.

Say, Pansy. I knew we'd hit it off the moment I saw her head-to-toe in Prada, her hair as glossy as volcanic glass. That's not fate: that's good taste. And Crabbe, well — that one is a bit odd, I'll give you that. Lord knows why I have a soft spot for him when he's far too much trouble for his worth. Nearly got me killed once or twice, even. Not literally, of course — just at the bars, when he drinks me under the table. Pansy says he's "mine" the same way Theo is "hers"; I've never cared for Theo. He seems the type of guy who holds back while you make a rash of bad decisions. Mind you, Pansy isn't much better either, but at least she's always right there, too, making the same damn mistakes.

Pansy asked me what Theo did to piss me off so much. I made up some lie about how he didn't warn me about a rotted foundation on a house I was trying to sell, but really, I don't know why I think that about Theo. I'm a genius people-reader, alright? And I don't question intuition.

So I'm not worried when Blaise calls me in to meet a high-profile client. Rich geezers, they're all the same. And I've seen this one plenty in the newsstands before, so I've already sussed him out. He always looks like he doesn't want to be there. A bit sullen — dead inside — but harmless enough.

"Seems a trifle odd, doesn't it?" I tell Pansy that morning. "He could've called me direct. My number's on half the park benches around his neighbourhood."

"Maybe he thinks you'll say no," Pansy says. She has that faraway look in her eyes she gets every morning before the caffeine kicks in.

"Why would I say no?" I laugh. "I'd be an idiot to give up a million-pound commission."

She's not paying attention to me. Her eyes bug out and her lips part. It's like she's in a bloody trance. I swear she does it just to piss me off.

I'm still thinking about her ugly mug when I'm going up to Blaise's office. He's got the entire penthouse of the building for him to sign papers, and the elevator ride up the twenty-three floors leaves plenty of time for spacing out. So I'm caught off guard when, coming out of the elevator, Harry Potter smacks straight into me and all I want to do is kill him.

Oh lord, how I want to kill him. My rage builds so strong that I'm taken out of my body. Where I go, I don't know. But when I come to, Potter is gone and I'm sitting across from Blaise.

Blaise has his pitying face on, the one he practices in the mirror. His hands are clasped over the expansive walnut desk (live edge, of course), his suit as green as Potter's eyes.

Potter's eyes. Merlin, I barely remember meeting the man, but it's all I can think of now. That luxurious, deep emerald. Green as everything I ever wanted.

"No," I say. "I won't take him on."

"Dee," Blaise says, gentle. His brows raise.

I'm on the spin bike at the gym trying to blow off some steam when Pansy calls and says, "Blaise is right, you know," her voice tinny above the whirl of bikes around me. "You'll be stupid to walk away from a million pounds over a premonition."

"He's a lying tramp, I swear. I'll put in all this work, set up the listing, stage the place, and then he'll change his mind and walk right out. I know. He's a ticking time bomb."

"So...." she giggles, "what'd you think he did?"

I'm confused for a second, but then I realise she's probably talking about her reincarnation theory again.

"Don't you dare start on this past life shite," I warn. "I'm not in the damn mood."

"Maybe he razed your lands. Ohhh, can you imagine, Harry Potter — a viking? All that fur… mm, and those horned helmets. Sure makes me horny —"

"Jesus, woman. I'm at the gym."

"Okay, okay," she says. "Since you're at the gym, what about this: Harry Potter as naughty, lying George Wickham. And you: the poor Lydia Bennet, tricked into a life of poverty and ridicule for the rest of your days. Embittered, you —"

"That's Jane Austen, that's not even real life," I say before hanging up.

I meet Potter at his Islington townhouse the following Tuesday. He's a capital C celebrity so he's got no regular day job, which makes him horrifying easy to slot into my schedule.

"You're late," I say as soon as he opens the front door. He runs a hand through his tangled hair — soft, I know — and bleats out an apology as I brush past him into the grim, old place. The hallway is long and dark. There's a kitchen in the far west corner overlooking the garden. And upstairs there are three bedrooms, of which the medium-sized one is his because it faces east, and he enjoys waking sun-rumpled and satisfied.

The floorplan, I pulled from public records. The rest, I — well, I don't know. I just know. I know it with such vivaciousness that I can see us there, on his — no, our — bed, his arm thrown across my chest, and I —

"Draco?" he asks, tentative. Like he's found something he's lost but isn't sure what to do with it, yet.

My hands clam up, my heart racing back to the present. He's only a foot from me, his doe eyes searching. I know what it feels like to pull him in by the waist, to watch those lids flutter shut as we kiss. And I know he knows this too, so I lean in and punch his face.

"He called me Draco," I say to Pansy later. "Draco. Only my mother calls me Draco, and she's been dead a full decade."

"You're crazy, Dee," Pansy says, patting my hand with hers on the bar counter. "What did you do after? Get on your knees to kiss his arse so he'd keep you on?"

"Bloody hell, no. I bolted the fuck out of there thinking I lost the biggest deal of my life. But then the next day, Blaise calls and says Potter stopped by the office. Says could I get him a list of stagers, all cool and shite like nothing had happened!"

"Hm… maybe you two are more Troilus and Cressida than Brutus and Caesar. Ohh, or Achilles and Patroclus. God, yes. That fits so well —"

"Good God, woman! Unless Patroclus was trying to sell Achilles' ionic column abode, I don't want to hear another peep of past lives from you."

Pansy pushes her martini to me and waits for me to drain it before signalling for another round. "I'm only saying," she says, tapping her square-tip nails on the stem of the glass, "Kissing. Fucking, even. Wouldn't that be better than fighting?"

Naturally, I choke on my drink.

I meet with Potter the next day and manage to get through the walkthrough without any further hallucinations or fisticuffs. I call Greg up to stage the place and we go through the house again the following week. Potter's in the kitchen when Greg leaves and offers me a cup of tea while I wait for my car. I'm out of excuses and exhausted from the day, so I accept.

"Draco," he says when he hands the cup to me. Two sugars, a splash of milk. I try not to think about how he knows.

"Why do you call me that?" I ask instead, blustering.

"Why do you call me Potter?" he retorts. He's smiling, but I can tell he's not really happy. It's the same smile the paparazzi catches him with.

"I don't know," I say because I don't. My tongue knows his name better than I do.

I can't keep my eyes off of his as he comes up to me. "Draco," he says my name like he had a claim to it, long ago. I let him loosen the cup from my hand and push me up onto the counter. The angle's better here; perfect if I want to slide my hand up to his cheek and through his hair. He smells like broomstick and phoenix ash. I love him, I know. But it's not supposed to be this easy.

Y/n lied on the couch of the Slytherin common room, a tub of ice cream in hand as she blankly watched the fire. It was rare to get peace and quiet when you were either a Slytherin or dating the chaotic Slytherin Prince, so Y/n often enjoyed her alone time.

Of course, when dating Draco, you didn’t just not have privacy, you also had glares, nasty looks and comments, as well as jealousy by none other than Pugface Pansy. Pansy and her group had it out for Y/n. They refused to give up in making her feel horrible. Pansy was still not over her little crush on Draco, yet Draco was always too busy gazing at Y/n with love and adoration to notice the death glares gifted by Parkinson. 

Just before Y/n had her lovely ice cream and silence, she was pretty much harassed by Pansy and her minions. They really tried every time even though Y/n made it clear that she didn’t care. Today was only different because they spotted her Achilles's heel and struck there as soon as they could.

Her biggest insecurity was about her relationship with Malfoy, and the problem was how Draco tended to be emotionally absent during the times Y/n was being genuinely serious. They loved each other, but Y/n was getting tired of having to ask Crabbe, Goyle or Blaise to set Draco straight when he refused to listen to her well worded thoughts. 

It wasn’t that he didn’t care for her and listen to her, it’s just that Malfoys are hard to deal with when they make up their mind and they won’t listen to any other things involving the matter that are said to them. Malfoys just need a little more attention and care, you have to have a thick skin with them. Especially with Draco. His “angsty teen” act wasn’t going anywhere with Y/n, she already knew how he normally was with her and she wasn’t going to let him put on his mask around her.

He was caring and shy in private. In public however, that was a different story. Everyone already knew how he was. A clean was to put it is a jerk, to say the least. He was there for Y/n when she needed him, not counting the times he stormed off because he didn’t want to be wrong, so it often reassured her that it would be okay. Now that reassuring technique wasn’t quite working, but luckily, Y/n had another way.

“What the bloody hell are you doing?” Draco’s voice sounded from up the stairs. He had walked out of his dormitories for some late night thoughts on the sofa, although he didn’t expect his girlfriend to be sulking with ice cream where he was planning on sitting. 

“When something like this happens, I tell myself I will heal, and then I eat ice cream. Ice cream always helps.” She responded, not turning her head to visibly acknowledge his presence. “Duh.”

“What do you mean, ‘When something like this happens’? What happened? Did someone do something?”

“Mhm. Guess who. Starts with a P.” Y/n dipped her spoon into the ice cream as Draco sat next to her. His face was full of concern. And her stomach was full of tasty ice cream.

She probably should’ve given her boyfriend more context, seeing as he responded with a scowl. “Potter.”

“No, not him Dray. Someone else.”

“One of the Patil twins?”

“Nope.”

“Then who? Are you sure it wasn’t-” He didn’t get it right, so he resorted back to blaming Harry. Luckily for Y/n, she was rather used to Potter’s name being dragged into Draco’s assumptions.

“Nooo, for goodness sakes, it’s not Harry. It’s Pansy. Pugface Pansy and her gang. How did you miss the fact that Pansy has it out for me. You should know that by now, she’s made it painfully obvious that she loves you and hates my entire existence.”

And Y/n was right. Draco could be blind to that as well, in fact it was obvious that he didn’t pay attention to the stressful tension that filled the air whenever the two girls were in the same room together.

“Parkinson? What’d she do? There’s no way she broke my Y/n. My Y/n’s too cool and strong for weak girls like Parkinson.”

“That’s it. I’m done, I hate everyone. Just like I said earlier today, I’m giving up on social communication.”

Draco looked shocked. His face filled with worry and he furrowed his eyebrows, his mouth opened slightly. Draco felt kind of hurt but still distressed over Y/n’s bluntness. “Are you... serious? Do you hate me? I’m sorry if I did anything wrong baby, I love you and I’m really really so-”

"Didn’t you hear? Oh, well, this must suck for you then.” Y/n continued eating her ice cream. The silence that previously left when Draco entered returned. It wasn’t creating tension but it also wasn’t helping. Y/n finally turned to her wide eyed boyfriend, who had a difficult time understand that it was a joke, even with the smirk on Y/n’s face. 

“Is that a yes?”

Y/n rolled her eyes and pulled her clueless boyfriend into a kiss by the collar of his shirt. When they pulled away, Draco still had a confused look on his face. Before she could stop it, Y/n broke out into laughter. He looked at her and raised an eyebrow.

“Why aren’t you laughing? I’m hilarious!”

He began laughing too and wrapped an arm around Y/n, “No, you’re mean. But I love you so it’s okay.”

“I love you too Dray, I’m sorry for scaring you like that.”

“No you’re not.”

“You’re right.”

Ratonhnhaké:ton’s inexperience with the world really shows here, and not really in a bad way. On the one hand, I want him to become more knowledgeable about how the world works, and grow to become less naïve, but on the other hand.. knowledge is a terrible weight. I don't’ want to see him learn just how bad the world actually is -- his innocent insistence that there’s nothing wrong with Achilles is so heartwarming, but also horrible, just because I know how badly it’ll get shattered. He’s already experienced racism before, but probably not so casually, and with such a blaise and resigned attitude. 

So! We get to hear the first time that Ratonhnhake:ton adopts the name Connor. Admittedly I thought it would’ve had a bit more fanfare, but also the understated nature of it rather helps, I feel like. Dude just wants to go shopping, not get accosted, and I can vibe with that. It interests me that Achilles just had the name ready to go -- has he been thinking of what to call him for a while? 

Furthermore, did Achilles just... call him “boy” for the last six months? Did he even try to say Ratonhnahke:ton’s name? God, that’s a fucking depressing thought. 

So like. I know it’s just a gameplay mech, and probably not indicative of what he was wearing at the time, but!! Ratonhnhake:ton’s visibly wearing Kanyen'kehà:ka clothes, he’s obviously a native american, so like??? Why did Achilles say that? He wouldn’t blend in, even if he just started calling himself “Connor”? Ugh. And like, this gets even worse too, because this whole sequence is kind of Stupid, with how it handles some things. I’ll get into that later. 

Also, I can’t help but wonder if the Spaniard/Italian comment is intended to be evocative of Ezio, who at the start of ac2 was fairly dark? Like, Ezio himself wasn’t dark that much, but he was certainly darker than a lot of the people around him, though that might’ve been the filter. He’s noticeably lighter in the DLC for ac2, Brotherhood and Revelations, so I can’t help but just. Poke at it. Maybe ac2 Ezio just had a tan. 

Related to skintone bits -- I don’t know if this is just me, or if it’s how Shit the Remaster’s lighting is, but ... Achilles and Ratonhnhake:ton look almost the same shade? Does that mean that Achilles himself is mixed too? I’ve seen other Black people in ac3, and they’re quite darker, so that makes me wonder about him. I also can’t help but wonder if the reason he’s so light is because of racism on the devs part -- did they specifically make him with mixed ancestry as part of a story, or did they not want to have “that dark” of a skintone on a major supporting npc? I know Achilles features (somewhat) in Rogue, so I’m going to hold my breath and wait to see until then. 

Anyways, off we trot to find supplies. Surely nothing can go wrong!
