I have another coloured sketch for you today! This time featuring the Macaulays in their complete form: Malcolm, Brandy and their tiny twins. 🥹💖 Can you guess which twin is which? 👀🤣

So the couple took their kids out for a walk, buuut Blair got bored of walking on her own at some point, and wanted to be carried. Naturally, Donnie followed his sister's example and requested the same thing. Less than 30 seconds later, however, the two were already restless—as you can see above—making their parents be like "Gee, guys, make up your mind already??" 😂 They’re only 3yo and they’re already working towards acquiring the “terror twins” label. 👏🏻😂

The amount of feels I have for these guys though, oof. 😭💖

My friend Teo ( @teosartcorner ) and I can't (and don't want to) shut up to each other about our respective OC universes and how some of our characters would get along just fine. It just so happens that her Terror Twins Blair and Donnie AND my Foster Boys all live in Inverness so this particular crossover could actually happen. 😂

"How does it feel to be such a baby at your big old age?" Macaulay questions teasingly with a cock of her head before she crosses behind the counter to the business phone, looking among the scattered Post-It notes for the repair guys' number. She cradles the receiver between her shoulder and her cheek, punching in the number before she turns back to Blair.

Recently I watched, Philadelphia Story with Katherine Hepburn and it reminded me so much of S5.B- Tracy , C- Ck D- Connor and L- George .It’s funny bc DB watches this movie in the end of S4. Have you ever watch PS and got the same vibe as well?

oh, most definitely! a lot of references in gg were for sure put there because viewers were meant to read into the parallels. i believe stephanie savage has spoken about how they intentionally based blair and dan on tracy and macaulay connor, actually. the parallels are really strong, from beginning to end, and say a LOT about blair’s s4-6 characterization and arc.

I need to draw them again as soon as possible. Also, other characters. Malcolm. Brandy. Aggie. DOUGIE. I fell deep into Teo's D&B-verse, and I keep falling. It's fine, it's a fun fall. 😂

Murphy Darrow was born a Siren, the middle-most child out of seven (the order being; Ramsay, Lochlin, Logan, Murphy, Islay, Blair and Macaulay). While her parents doted on her far more than any of the other children, they weren't the greatest at parenthood. They viewed Murphy more as a trophy to give them importance rather than their kid.

She was always a self-centered wildcard and from the moment she could fight on her own until the age of 22, Murphy fancied herself a warrior for the people. At 15 she lost control of her power, Phaseshatter, and eviscerated her right arm completely. That's also when she got the scar on her face. If anything, it made her even more reckless with who and what she fought for. 

Around the age of 22 she met a Leech Siren (im not sure if i want Murphy to be alive when canon characters are or not, so either the Leech will be just a random person, or it would be Tyreen. this is working as if its rando) and fell head over heels for her. Murphy didn't care how bad of a person the Leech was and p much sold all of her morals to answer the Leech's every beck and call. Unfortunately the feelings were not reciprocated fully and after faking a relationship for a few years, the Leech decided Murphy's powers would be more useful if she owned them and ya know, stole Murphy's Siren powers.

So, at roughly the age of 25, Murphy suddenly lost the biggest sense of self she'd had her entire life. Once she lost her Siren powers, people stopped really caring about her and looking to her for help. She was just another person. Coming from someone who spent her life being a Siren, a people person, the hero, this was a devastating turn of events

Murphy grew violent and volatile, with a temper that didn't discriminate on who it lashed out upon. Slowly she changed from the wildcard with good intentions, to a dangerous gunslinger that you could never quite trust. Now whenever Murphy showed up somewhere, people feared her because they had no idea what mood she'd be in that day.

She might show up in your town and seem as charming and charismatic as ever, but if it didn't result in the response Murphy wanted then somebody could wind up dead. It's a nasty combination of an already mean person who has experienced a life-altering loss, as well as an incredibly messy break up. 

aaaand the rest is sorta up in the air? Originally Murphy was 100% going to end up as a villain type, but I've grown too attached to her to just...straight up make her evil and then subsequently kill her. For now I imagine, with a lot of time, effort and help, Murphy might learn how to function as a regular person for the first time in her life. But she will Absolutely still be a huge jackass compensating for her lost abilities lmao

Unfortunately, I can't quite pinpoint the date of the portrait, and wether or not William would have been in Illinois or in New York. But I wouldn't doubt if Inman ever traveled, I think you kinda had to when a painter back then. There is a story of him traveling as far as to England 1844–1845, to paint Wordsworth, Macaulay, John Chambers, Sir William Stewart, Baronet of Blair, and other such celebrities of the day. So it's possible William either went to New York, or Inman was in town in Illinois.

I wonder as well what Hamilton's parents could have looked like and wether or not it traveled to the kids. It's my guess either his mother or father looked something like himself though. Yet I know very little when it comes to them, other than their careers, travels, etc. Yeah, it's unfortunate the most iconic thing about Hamilton's appearance didn't really travel through his kids lol.

Wait, aren’t there portraits of Philip Hamilton? Or are we talking the 2nd?

Nope, no portraits, nor descriptions of his appearance unfortunately. Other than he was "Handsome", I guess. I'm going to assume Philip just never got a portrait because of his early grave, as most, if not all, of Hamilton's children all had their portraits/photographs done in adulthood. And as we all know; Philip Hamilton suffered from a fatal death at the early age of nineteen in a fatal duel against George I. Eacker.

Funny you should mention Philip Hamilton II. As he was actually the one with a photograph rather than his brother, whom he was named after;

There has been the whole misconception that this portrait of his younger brother, William Stephen Hamilton, was him. But it's since been proven wrong on multiple accounts.

For a while this portrait of William was titled to be Philip because of Phil II's grandson, Allan McLane. Who had seen the portrait and wrote it off as Philip in his biography for his grandfather, Alexander Hamilton. Even modern Biographer and historian, Ron Chernow, made this mistake in his own biography for Hamilton. And the Wikipedia doesn't help much either, nor the Hamilton musical fans who didn't do much research and claimed such themselves as well (I think Lin Manuel Miranda also did in a tweet). So it circulated and many shrugged it off as fact.

But it's not, it's truthfully a photograph taken of a portrait William had gotten in 1880. As not only the person who painted it was a man known by Smith M., was born in 1800 while Philip Hamilton had died in 1801 (Yeah, heavy doubts a baby did that). But also this quote from a letter Phil II had written to, best pal of William's, Cyrus Woodman, describes what is probably the portrait we can see above;

“The last subject relates to any likenesses of my brother [William] and I am gratified to have it in my power to supply the society, as I promised you yesterday, an enlarged Indian ink photograph from an Ivory miniature which has been in my possession since my sister’s death.”

William was also renowned as being the kid that looked most like his father, and you can see the very notable similarities between Hamilton and and his son. But also the fashion and attire in the portrait wouldn't match Philip's time of standards, as it appears more 19th century than anything.

Unfortunate, but we will probably never know how the "dashing" Philip Hamilton looked.

Nova York da ficção à vida real: 10 filmes e séries inesquecíveis

De todas as grandes cidades do mundo, Nova York é provavelmente a que está mais presente no imaginário cinematográfico de várias gerações. Incontáveis filmes e séries foram produzidos ali, transformando a Grande Maçã num verdadeiro estúdio ao ar livre. Quando a momondo lançou o desafio para escrever sobre um destino de viagem inspirado por algum filme, livro ou série, não tive dúvidas: tinha que escrever sobre Nova York!

Escrever sobre Nova York aqui no blog é uma vontade antiga, que tem sido adiada por muito tempo. A cidade que nunca dorme conquistou um lugar no meu coração ainda na adolescência, em grande parte influenciada pelo que eu consumia da indústria do cinema e da televisão desde criança. Por ter sido o meu primeiro destino internacional, tenho um grande carinho por essa metrópole incrível. Pra falar a verdade, Nova York continua sendo, ainda hoje, uma das minhas cidades favoritas no mundo todo! 

Das duas vezes em que estive em Nova York, o roteiro da viagem foi completamente influenciado por filmes e séries que acompanhei ao longo da vida. Essas produções todas me fizeram ter uma percepção diferente dos espaços, criando uma certa relação de familiaridade e pertencimento com a cidade. 

Visitar os pontos que serviram de cenário para nossas histórias favoritas é sempre motivo para boas recordações e, claro, muitas fotos. Não foram um ou dois, mas uma dezena de histórias que marcaram a forma como vivenciamos Nova York e a transformaram num ícone da cultura pop. Vamos lá conhecer as que mais me marcaram?

F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

Existe algo mais novaiorquino do que o grupo de seis amigos reunidos no café Central Perk em plenos anos 90? Friends é a série que marcou a vida de toda uma geração e definiu boa parte de como as seguintes passariam a se comportar. Passar na frente do predinho da Bedford com a Groove St. no Greenwich Village (onde os amigos viviam no seriado) é passeio obrigatório para os fãs. Mas para falar a verdade, só de ver o arco do Washington Square Park, imortalizado nas cenas de transição, já faz o coração bater mais forte.

Gossip Girl

“Gossip Girl here.” Outra série icônica que nos fez sonhar várias vezes com a vida badalada da alta sociedade novaiorquina foi Gossip Girl. Apesar das inúmeras contradições da trama, o grupo de adolescentes privilegiados do Upper East Side conquistou espaço de referência na cultura pop dos anos 2000. Provavelmente o mais perto que nós, meros mortais, chegaremos da glamurosa vida de Serena van der Woodsen e Blair Waldorf será sentar para lanchar nas escadarias do Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Home Alone 2

Nova York no Natal é sinônimo de Macaulay Culkin causando confusão no Central Park. Um garoto sozinho em Nova York, hospedado numa suíte presidencial no Hotel Plaza e salvando a famosa loja de brinquedos F.A.O Schwarz de um assalto na véspera de Natal. Toda criança dos anos 90 sonhou com isso, vai dizer que não? Esqueceram de Mim 2 virou um clássico de Natal e é provavelmente uma das referências mais antigas que construímos sobre a Grande Maçã. 

13 Going on 30

A vida de sonhos de Jenna Rink, editora de uma prestigiada revista em Nova York, era provavelmente o ideal de sucesso para a maior parte das adolescentes de toda uma geração. E quem não queria um guarda-roupa daqueles e uma rotina glamurosa e divertida quando chegasse aos 30 anos?  Jeniffer Garner com a cabeça para fora da limousine, em plena Times Square (quando ainda era permitido o acesso de carros no local), é uma das cenas que marcou a Nova York dos anos 2000, ao som dos clássicos dos anos 1980.

Friends with Benefits

O que poderia ser mais aliciante do que Mila Kunis tentando convencer Justin Timberlake a se mudar para Nova York? Os primeiros 20 minutos de filme são suficientes para fazer cada um de nós sentir uma necessidade urgente de se mudar para a Big Apple. E se não bastasse tudo isso, o flashmob do final, em plena Grand Central Station, é a sacada definitiva para nos convencer de que a vida lá realmente poderia ser como nos filmes. Ficou com vontade de se mudar para Nova York correndo? Eu também.

Sex and the City

O glamour de Nova York chega ao seu ápice quando vivido por quatro mulheres incríveis, que exploram os altos e baixos do mundo dos solteiros entre Cosmopolitans e cupcakes da Magnolia Bakery. Aos trinta e poucos anos de idade, elas são bonitas, bem-sucedidas, mas continuam se metendo em confusão por causa de homem... Quem nunca? A série acabou faz tempo, mas Carrie, Miranda, Samantha e Charlotte continuam vivas em cada grupo de amigas que viaja do mundo todo até lá só para brindar seus Cosmos em plena Nova York do século XXI.  

A Lot Like Love

Essa é só mais uma das três bilhões de comédias românticas que se passaram em Nova York, mas vai ser sempre uma das minhas favoritas. Apesar do enredo acabar se desenvolvendo em Los Angeles, Ashton Kutcher e Amanda Pete são o casal que imortalizou aquela vista maravilhosa do Lower East Side para a Brooklyn Bridge. Os dois se conhecem em um voo para Nova York e acabam passando vários momentos juntos pela cidade. Podemos suspirar à vontade!

Enchanted

É impossível passar pela fonte mais famosa do Central Park e não lembrar do povo todo dançando e cantando naquela cena de Encantada, da Disney. Expulsa por uma rainha malvada do seu próprio conto de fadas, a princesa Giselle vai parar no meio de Manhattan, onde tem bastante dificuldade para se adaptar à realidade caótica da cidade que nunca dorme. Vamos combinar que Nova York é um tiquinho mais complexa do que seu mundinho dos desenhos animados, e não é todo dia que a gente vê uma princesa saindo de um bueiro em plena Times Square.

The Day After Tomorrow

E como não lembrar da catástrofe climática que atinge a Grande Maçã em O Dia Depois de Amanhã? Esse é só mais um dos muitos filmes que usaram Nova York como cenário para o apocalipse, mas é certamente um dos meus favoritos. Só de passar em frente à NYC Public Library a gente já estremesse de pensar naquilo tudo coberto de água e depois congelando, com aquela tempestade de neve. Esperamos de verdade que o Aquecimento Global retroceda e a gente não tenha que queimar todos os livros para sobreviver...

Breakfast at Tiffany´s

O clássico de Truman Capote com a maravilhosa Audrey Hepburn continua no imaginário de quem passa pela loja da Tiffany & Co. da 5th Ave até hoje. A inconfundível e ambiciosa Holly Golightly, que sonhava em dar o golpe em um milionário para viver como uma legítima socialite novaiorquina, não esperava apaixonar-se pelo pobretão Paul Varjak, um jovem escritor bancado pela amante. Perdida entre a inocência, ambição e futilidade, a figura da Bonequinha de Luxo ficou imortalizada tomando seu café da manhã em frente à famosa joalheria e continua sendo sinônimo do glamour e elegância de Nova York. Recentemente a joalheria abriu um restaurante no local, onde é realmente possível tomar o café da manhã. ~MV
