i've been kind of obsessed with the scene in b2 where mal meets the thieves' guild again since i replayed it in august, probably my favorite scene of his and i wanted to draw something for it since. i ended up with a tarot card for him, two of swords, meaning: avoidance, indecision, stalemates, being stuck with difficult decisions. reflects him in that moment in b2! so here it is.

i wanted to incorporate more of his in-game symbols with the guild; tried to sneak his whitetower reaper tattoo, "red diamond with six drops next to it", and the yellow gloves is just safina lol. looking at it, the diamond kind of looks like a coffin? if you squint. and i think that's neat, because one of my favorite lines from the thieves guild scene is where safina tells mal that part of him always wanted to die.

I just love how soft and peaceful this art by the always amazing @wisejazz is. Mal and Daenarya look so relaxed despite the constant danger surrounding them in saving the realm. As long as they have each other, they can face anything!

September has been such a challenging month for me. There were moments I honestly didn't think I was going to make it, but I did. This art was one that definitely made me smile and brought some comfort through the month. I wish I had time or energy to give them the story they deserve to go with this but for now I wanted to share the art. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

this is a whole comic. I shamelessly stole a thing from Blade Runner to extend the Aerin prison visit scene:

To me in this context, this little origami unicorn is a symbol of not knowing what the truth is when they reunite for the first time in book 2, and wondering what that truth is... but... not... either of them being a replicant ahahah, definitely not hahah - it's about Aerin not knowing if Raine could ever take him back after what he did, Raine not knowing if anything Aerin felt for her was real, if anything wasn't a lie, but leaving this unicorn here as a sign of hope and a reminder, and both of them having very, very real feelings while not knowing for sure if the other does, too.

And much like Blade Runner, this comic, too, has a Director's Cut:
