do you have any favourites fics or au within the fandom?

I used to have ones I liked a lot but my opinions ended up changing as the stories were written 😭😭

I think above all, I'm truly in love with "Dereliction" by jellfish!! John Dory comes back sooner than usual and discovers The state in which Branch is living as a child and steps up. The way John Dory has been written is incredible and it's nice to see a fic that handles JD's issues and the affects of his actions handled appropriately and respectfully without excusing it either! JD is really awesome in this.

I also really like "Burnt" by montanaism (Adult content warning!). It's an AU where Branch is the adoptive brother to Barb and Poppy is kidnapped by them and hijinks ensue! It's been really good so far! Love the Broppy dynamic and her friendship with Val. :]

Another fic I liked with a good interpretation of JD was "Moment To Be Real" by blade_that_was_broken. AU where Branch and JD stayed together but he ends up dying at some point and Floyd is the one who comes to find Branch to save their family. That one is complete!

Favorite AUs art-wise might be spookypop's Rock Prince Branch AU or chairnoizes' Infection AU on TikTok!! (Mature/Disturbing imagery warning!) I wish there were more AUs in general or at least easy to read through and digest easily. I really love seeing the creativity from the community!! If you know any good ones, lemme know!

I actually have an AU I'm working on myself in between writing ROF so look forward to it!

JD Floyd friendship

“You are really sappy,” John chuckled.

“You wrote almost all of our music. Wonder where I got it from,” Floyd teased, cheekily.

“I feel like you are trying to butter me up.”

“Maybe a little but I’m also being very honest,” Floyd reminded.

“What do you want?”

“Welll…..” he drifted off. “I would really love to see some of the stuff you’ve written since Brozone.”

“What makes you think I have anything?”

Floyd stared at him. “John Dory, are you going to lie straight to my face and tell me you don’t have notebooks full of songs and lyrics you have written over the years?”

So, hey hi... author of those JD reunites with Branch early asks here again, so this is kinda of embarrassing, but the link in the previous ask tou just responded to his wrong. I am very much NOT blade_that_was_broken (but Im glad that you liked it bcs that is one of my favorite fics and was another huge inspiration for my actual fic)

You actually already checked out my actual fic, A Shield For Your Tender Parts (one of the benefits of having memory problems is that a forgot I sent the first ask with the wrong link and sent another one with the correct one lol), and finally enough, this reminded me I haven't updated the fic in quite a while. I started the draft for the forth chapter and quite literally just forgot about it

What was once I gonna take a small break to enjoy my other hobbies turned into almost two months now of not updating, so I guess embarrassment aside, this was actually really useful for me so thank you(?)

HAHA I'll be honest I was a little confused since Bruce wasn't in that like you said he was, but I liked the fic anyway!

For Trolls Fic recommendations, literally anything by blade_that_was_broken. I have literally read all of their fics and all of them are extremely good

A Promise by AliNear is really good if you want something that it's only one chapter and hurt/comfort. All three Just Dory fics are also really good for that.

MelonMass has a series of fics that are interconnected but thar mostly can be read as one-shots (especially recommend their recent Hickory fic, it's really good)

Dereliction and A Little Winter Miracle for some longer/on-going fics. And I don't know if you know this one, but there is this really good Clay and Branch fic called I Always Be There and it just updated, I don't think you would like it but maybe check it out.

I'll be sure to check those authors out, I don't think I've heard of them so we'll see if I recognize any of their fics.
