#rp via @blackwrestlingalliance Regardless of what people think this page is about, I am very slow to pull the race card or find a reason to complain or rant about that, but it was way too blatant in this year's men's Royal Rumble match! With the 9 black wrestlers that were in the match (a good number), no more than two black men were in the match at the same time... Xavier Woods, Titus O'Neil, No Way Jose and Bobby Lashley were all eliminate straight away... Only Big E and Shelton Benjamin lasted longer than 5mins... Kofi Kingston is now just a show monkey with his acrobatic ways of avoiding elimination (both of which he tried almost went horribly wrong and looked terrible... His own fault 😕) and, as many positives you can pull out for Nia herself, RTruth losing his spot to Nia Jax was really for no real reason. And notice, of the 9 in the match, all of their eliminations apart from 3 (Big E, Shelton and Apollo) were comedic. As well as Michael Cole calling Apollo Crews "Shelton" when he was eliminated! 🤨🤦🏾‍♂️ REALLY! Take away the race part out of all of it... The whole match was rushed and the booking of Lashley, Big E and Kingston was bad. Given the stature of the two big men (and Lashley being IC Champ) and the notoriety of Kingston, this should've been very different. Even though Naomi seems to have adopted the roll of a female Kofi Kingston, at least what happened with her and Mandy in the women's rumble made sense as they are in the middle of a feud and it helped with their story. When Seth eliminated Lashley it isn't gonna help any rivalry because they basically left that behind when Lashley won the IC title... Unless, of course, Lashley becomes the fall guy for Rollins' road to beating Brock Lesnar (sound familiar? Roman Reigns. Summer Slam... Hmmm) All in all, the men's Rumble match was rushed, at best, but what happened with our people sent me over the edge! He made his debut for Lucha Underground season 4 as 'XO Lishus' winning his debut match against indy high-flying legend, Jack Evans and would feud and over come Evans for the next few weeks. He would also encounter Joey Ryan but manage to get Ryan on side with LU badass female Ivelisse by his side. Lishus, Ryan and Ivelisse would form a trios team and feud with the Reptile Tribe and, now with Sammy Guevara after Ryan was attacked, would challenge for the LU Trios Championship at Ultima Lucha Cuatro. During a year where the LGBTQ community gained a more mainstream support with Fred Rosser's 'Block the Hate' movement, WWE's Sonya Deville publicly coming out and Finn Balor's support of the LGBTQ community, Kiss was seen as a forerunner for homosexual wrestlers. While expected to be a joke act as an Exotico (traditionally feminine persona on the Lucha Libre scene) in Lucha Underground he gained regular praise for his athletic and aggresive wrestling style and was seen as a serious threat in the ring... Kiss has also been very public about his relationship with fellow indy wrestler Killian McMurphy, said to be the first open gay relationship in pro wrestling. Back at his home promotion, Warriors of Wrestling, Kiss won the King of New York tournament and even beat Teddy Hart before the end of the year. I hope to see Kiss continue to make waves in LU as XO Lishus and intrigued to see what 2019 brings for the New Jersey native.
