Mirrored.

Breaking the silence alerts the pressure I’ve worked hard to keep low. Yet & still, I’m here. Darkness all around me but in the light, I find some solace. Present but not enough, adored but only through touch. Is this how life would be? You linger in every mirror through the steam & your reflection is starting to fade. But if you retreat, you’ll never recover or discover that life is on the other side of pride. It’s scary right, so take the bribe. Then learn me, Imbibe the things I can't reveal to you myself; my kinesics that only you can decipher. Use my stretch marks to draw conclusions from the depths of my dark past. But don’t run; the scary parts won’t last. I’m impatient but I’ve found patience with you. I want to know more but I’m nervous; we’ve only brushed against the surface & I’m afraid the more I peel back, the more unfamiliar I’ll become. So instead, I close up in my little place of peace hoping you’ll meet me halfway. Because although I haven’t said it, my actions show I want you to stay. As much as I wanted to run in the opposite direction, I can’t, I didn’t. I reveal things about myself without hesitation, even my anxiety is surprised. My mask is fading away & the disguise is starting to show a very familiar face. I’ve been here before & I know the outcome.
