Blacksun Week - Day Seven
Day seven submission for Blacksun week ☀️ so sorry I slacked off on posting these! thank you again for hosting @fromshadowstosun
@fromshadowstosun
Prompt: fireworks
Word count: 207
Warning: none
-
It isn't until the fireworks pop in the sky that Sun feels Blakes skin on his own.
They’ve been sitting close together all night, but with just enough space to not accidentally brush against one another. He knows her preferences, can read her body language like a script and he’s always tried to give her whatever she wants; space, affection, anger.
As the glittering light crackles and pops above them, Sun shifts, keeps his eyes wide and takes in the side of her face. Cheek leaning on his shoulder, Blake is staring up, the fireworks reflecting in her dark eyes.
“I can feel ya staring.” She hums and Sun jumps, laughing nervously before he scratches the back of his head. “It’s fine…i don't mind.”
“I- well you just…” Sun tries, and Blake gives him a bemused expression as he fumbles for an excuse. He glances at her mouth, the perfect pout and his stomach tightens. “Fuck it.”
Above them, fireworks glitter and between them, Sun closes the space, sealing his mouth over hers. He half expects her to shove him, to yelp or bite his lip; but she doesn’t. Instead, she hums softly, the sound vibrating right through him, and moves closer, her hand covering over his.

Within Dire Times (BlackSun) 🌒
Summary: Blake takes a moment to step away and struggles to bring her feelings to words. Sun only wants to be there, even if it means he can't do anything except be present.
Rating: Teen
Tumblr media
When times come to be dire, there is no place like home.
Or so thought Blake Belladonna.
Her hopes were to isolate from the rest of the world, from the issues that came and went like the flow of the sea in her homeland.
And now, here she was.
When her thoughts became so loud, so oppressive, so uncertain, she did not know.
Blake settled herself in the humid warmth of the harbor. She leaned over the worn metal railing of the port, her skin prickling from the cold metal, watching the crimson sun descend in the distance. It was no lie that she missed home, but to be back here, with no plan and no idea what came next was a lot for one person to handle. She wondered if she had done the right thing to come back. But she wanted nothing more than to be in the presence of home.
And once again, here she was.
If she focused hard enough on the setting sun, she could see the gentle progress it made on its descent. The waves broke against the port, crashing gently below her boots. In those small moments, it felt like nothing mattered.
“Mind a friend?” A familiar voice approached from behind, his sunny hair sweeping over from the incoming wind off the busy sea.

Blacksun Week 2024 - Day One
Excited to be participating in Blacksun Week this year! Here is my day one submission☀️
@fromshadowstosun
Prompt: movie night
Word count: 343
Warning: none
-
"Anything but a horror film," Sun mumbles from behind his hands. "Anything."
From her crouched position by the television, Blake looks over her shoulder and smirks. "What, I thought you were tough?"
Sun drops his hands from his face and frowns at her, boyish lines etched into his forehead. "I am, for real life. You like stuff that's...ghostly!"
"We’ve literally fought Grimm," Blake replies gently, remote in hand. "they're actually the stuff of nightmares."
"Exactly," Sun retorts, and makes space for her on the couch. "which is why, during my regular life, I don't want to see them!"
Blake settles beside him, tucking herself under the crook of his arms and his warmth envelops her like water submerging a conch shell.
"I guess you have a point." She replies with a shrug, jabbing the remote with her thumb.
"I have several more if I need to make a strong case." Sun chirps, his ankle draping over his knee and Blake chuckles. She flicks through several options on the television before Sun squeezes her shoulder, his excitement buzzing.
"Food Fight 2!" Sun grins, and Blake smiles at his infectious laughter. "Although it's not nearly as good as Food Fight 1. Food fight 3 was just insulting."
"There's,...three?" Blake asks, and Sun looks at her in bemused shock.
"You've never seen Food Fight?" he gasps, pressing a hand to his chest. Blake shakes her head and laughs at Sun's offended expression.
"That's it," he declares, swiping the remote from her. "we're watching that, now."
Blake laughs again, the sounds bubbling within her ribs like a shaken soda can, and Sun grins before reaching forward, and gently touching her face.
"You're pretty like this."
"Like what?" Blake asks, leaning into his palm.
"Happy." He says simply, and Blake gives him a sheepish smile.
"Sappy," she retorts, returning to her position against him and turning her attention to the TV.
Sun chuckles, his arm draped over her and she feels him press a light kiss to the crown of her head. "Don’t I know it."

Blacksun Week - Day Four
Day four submission for Blacksun week ☀️
@fromshadowstosun
Prompt: favorite things
Word count: 353
Warning: none
-
"Really?" Sun laughs, his eyes wide in disbelief. "That's your favorite candy?"
Blake gives him an exasperated stare. They'd only been at the Vacuo fair for less than an hour and already he was giving you grief.
"Sun, you're buying caramel covered raspberries," Blake huffs, her eyes shooting daggers at the covered fruits. "which is basically sugar on sugar, and you're judging me for liking black licorice?"
Sun grins, his mouth splitting into a contagious expression and it makes Blake's stomach do a little flip.
"Black licorice are for those whose taste buds have fried up," Sun chirps, fishing a hand into his denim pockets and revealing a wallet. He takes out a few bills and hands them to the vendor, telling the boy to keep the change. "Now extra sugar with sugar? That’s heaven."
"Ew!" Blake laughs, her nose screwed up at the notion. "I bet your favorite color is like, neon green or something of the like."
Sun opens the bag of candied fruit before popping on into his mouth. "I'll guess yours if you guess mine and well, it's not neon green."
Blake rattles off a few obnoxiously loud colors and Sun shakes his head with a proud smirk.
"Well, what about me?" she quips, pulling at a piece of licorice as they walk. "What’s my favorite color?"
"Hmm..." Sun hums, rubbing his chin. "Orange."
Blake shakes her head. "Close but no."
"Wait, I got it," He grins, and points to his hair. "Yellow!"
Blake sighs and shakes her head at her own humored disappointment. "Soft yellow. like...eggshell yellow. Nearly white."
"Uh huh," Sun laughs, wiggling his brows. "You still haven't guessed mine."
"Brown? Red?" Blake tries as they pause at a sidewalk light. Suns smile softens at the edges as he shakes his head and he gingerly leans forward, and touches a strand of Blake’s colored hair.
"Dark purple." He says softly as he twirls the lock of hair around his finger before he looks up and meets her eyes. "I always liked dark purple but then I saw it on you and well… Now it's my favorite."

Blacksun Week - Day Five
Day five submission for Blacksun week ☀️ sorry I've been so off on the posting days, I just got a new job LOL
@fromshadowstosun
Prompt: quotes
Word count: 353
Warning: mentions of blood
A/N: the quote I chose;  "You said I'm a good man," he said. "but i am not that good man. and I am- I am catastrophically in love with you."
-
Blake scrubs at her nail beds but no matter how soapy she makes the water, she can't get the red to wash away.
Despair bubbles in her throat and she lets out a water groan, scrubbing so hard she has to bite back from the pain. It's his blood under her nails, on her skin, and she can't stand it. Her back aches from her hunched position in the marble tub but she can't stop scrubbing, has to clean herself of his hurt and pain.
"Blake," Sun whispers, and she bobs her head up to see him leaning against the bathroom door. He's shirtless, but his abdomen is covered in gauze, pinpricks of blood seeping through and Blake winces. he had gotten injured for her, taking a hit that had been meant for her skin, not his.
"One sec," She whispers, her eyes dropping back to her hands. Sun stalks to the bathtub, dropping in front of it as his hands bracket her shoulders.
"Enough," Sun mutters, pulling at her naked frame weakly. "stop."
Blake shakes her head because she isn't clean, she'll never be clean. "No. I can't."
"You can-"
"I'm not, I'm so sory-"
"Blake!" Sun exclaims, his normally calm voice morphing into one of anger and it makes her pause. "Stop. just, stop. stop punishing yourself. It wasn't your fault."
"B-but it was," She says through a watery gasp. "I...should have had your back. And i didn't."
Sun moves his hands to her neck and cups her jaw, his grip tender yet firm. "You're a good person, Blake. Do you hear me?"
The water has run cold and it makes Blake shiver, her pruned hands wet as she moves to grab his wrists. "I'm not. But you are."
"Blake," Sun groans with a shake of his head, a sad smile stretching his features. "You say...i'm a good man. But i'm not. Unfortuantly i'm something else entirely."
"what are you?" She asks, her throat tight, fingers digging into the thin skin of his wrists.
Leaning forward, Sun presses his forehead to hers. "I am- catastrophically in love with you."

Blacksun Week - Day Six
Day six submission for Blacksun week ☀️
@fromshadowstosun
Prompt: cozy
Word count: 238
Warning: implied smut
-
"Water?"
Breathing hard, Blake allows her eyes to flutter open and she gazes at the ceiling as she tries to even out her harsh breathing. her skin is warm and flush, and there's a delish ache between her legs. Her mouth is dry, and she lets her tongue poke out, wetting her lips.
"Yes, please." She sighs, turning over to look at Sun beside her. He had already pulled his boxers on but his chest was still slick with a thin layer of sweat. Sun grins and practically bounds from the bed, his tail swishing as he moves. Now alone, Blake sighs with contenness and leans over, retrieving her discarded underwear and t-shirt. she holds up the fabric before dropping it and grabbing Sun's shirt, slipping it over her frame. She hears his feet pattering into the room before she sees him, and Blake feels her chest warm as Sun’s face reppears, blue eyes solely focused on her.
Placing the cup in her hands, he presses a kiss to her forehead before slipping into bed beside her, his skin warm to the touch. Blake takes a sip and snuggles against him, grinning when he slips an arm around her waist.
“I have an idea.”
“Stay in bed all day?” Blake laughs, taking a sip again. “It is the weekend.”
Sun grins and playfully bites her shoulder before pressing a kiss to the inflicted skin. “You read my mind.”

Blacksun Week - Day Three
Day three submission for Blacksun week ☀️
@fromshadowstosun
Prompt: unspoken word
Word count: 788
Warning: depictions of depression
-
"Blake."
Blake looks up, blinking out of her blank stare and shifts, her back stiff. Sun is starring at her from across the table, his hands tented and his chin is pressed against his fingers.
"Sorry, what did you say?" Blake whispers and her throat feels like its been run over a few times.
Don't say it.
He drops his hands and instead of speaking, offers her a small smile before his attention moves back to his cereal. They both know what he was going to say; they both know it's better that he doesn't.
Standing, she gingerly takes her mug to the sink, and when she passes him, he grabs her wrist. She shuts her eyes because she knows if she looks at him, she'll crack. Her ribcage will splinter and every word she's ever thought, every emotion of hate and desperation and love and anger will spill out of her like spools over ribbon.
"Baby." Sun whispers and his voice nicks her heart, chipping at it's walls. She tugs her arm free, and empties the contents of her mug into the sink before she stalks to her room, making herself close the door gently instead of slamming it. He doesn't deserve any of it, but especially not her anger.
As she settles herself on the edge of the bed, she strains to hear his movements. His spoon clangs against his bowl before she hears the chair scrap against the floor as he stands, his footsteps light in the kitchen. Blake presses her knuckles to her mouth as she tugs her knees to her chest and listens, her eyes fluttering shut as his footsteps pad down the hall, and pause before her door.
"I'm headed to class," Sun says through the door, his voice slightly muffled. Right, class. When was the last time she attended one? She can't remember. How she was supposed to just bounce back from the Ever After to a normal life is beyond her, yet the answer is so simple; she couldn't.
"Want me to bring you something when I get back?" He asks when she doesn't respond, and Blake shifts, distracts herself by picking lint from her leggings.
"No." she says, but her voice is quiet and she doesn't know if he can hear her. She waits for the sound of his footsteps, and cringes when she hears the doorknob turn instead.
"Blake," Sun says, his face laced with a mixture of concern and optimistic expectation, and it makes Blake's skin shiver. "I just..."
Don't say it, please.
"I'm worried," Sun says, dodging the statement they both dread. "about you, and this. you can't...hole up."
"There's nothing for you to worry about." Blake sighs, turning over to her back. She stares at the ceiling, at its dingy colors and realizes she never painted her bedroom the way she wanted to.
She hears Sun huff and imagines him crossing his arms. "My girl’s got survivor’s guilt and that's not right."
Blake shoots up straight, her swishing around her shoulders as she glares at him. "I'm not your girl."
"Uh huh." Sun grunts, his nostrils flaring and she knows he wants to disagree. Blake balls her fists.
"I'm not. I am nothing to you, got it?" She seethes, her anger palpable. She wants to scream, to tear at her hair until it breaks, cut into her skin until it bleeds and suddenly she's not sure she even wants to continue breathing.
Suns mouth twists into a sad expression and she watches as his fingers flex in their gloves. "Blake, I lo-"
"Don’t.” she snaps, and her voice shakes. She blinks rapidly before she turns away, surprised by the sudden tears. When was the last time she'd had enough energy to cry?
"Blake." He tries again, softer this time.
"Sun," Blake retorts, her tone matching his. "Don’t, okay? You'll break us if you do."
She glances at him just in time to see him nod, and then he's walking so quickly that she barely has time to register his proximity. He cups her face with both hands, blue eyes staring for so long it makes her shiver.
Dropping his head, Sun kisses her softly on the cheek, and whispers. "Alright."
He lets go of her face and heads for the door. Blake's skin is flushed where his mouth had been, and she presses her icy fingers' to the spot as if that'll warm her extremities. Glancing over his shoulder, he offers her a sad smile, saying all the things she can't bear to hear.
I love you.
She tries to smile back but it's perplexing and feels out of place on her face, so she gives him a soft nod.
I love you too.

Blacksun Week 2024 - Day Two
Day two submission for Blacksun week ☀️
@fromshadowstosun
Prompt: ocean
Word count: 389
Warning: mentions of character death
-
Bending at the waist, Blake slowly undoes her sandal straps, kicking them away and behind her, stepping forward. The wet sand is harsh beneath her feet, crunching like flakes of brittle cement. It hadn't stopped raining in days, the weather emulating her life to a T.
As she walks, she can feel the grit beneath her skin, smell the salt of the sea, hear the roar of the waves. Sun had always liked the beach. Blake never got the appeal.
The water laps gently at the shower, and Blake inhales her breath as she steps slowly into the water, the liquid bitingly cold. She ignores, moving slowly and the water climbs higher, licks at her calves and then her knees, dampening the hem of her skirt.
The urn digs into her hip but she holds it closer, nearly hugging it as the water reaches her lower thigh. Deciding that she's far enough, she stops, settles her balance.
As Blake twists the lid of the urn off, she ignores the way her hands shake when she grasps the marble. It squeezes before giving way, and makes a soft pop once completely removed. The soft shifting of the water around her echoes in Blake’s ears, matching the hard pulse of her blood.
Sun's ashes are dull and gray, sticking to the bottom of the urn and embodying the complete opposite of who Sun is.
Was, Blake mentally corrects herself. Who he was.
Lifting the urn in front of her, Blake stares at the dark blue marble, her pale skin like cream against it's smooth exterior, and before she can change her mind, she flips it.
The ashes cascade into the water like dust, caking on the surface for a few moments before dissolving. Blake wants to claw at them, grab them back, scream into the salty wind that no, the ocean can't have him, because he is hers, and she is his.
Blake watches as the ashes swirl and disappear from view, her tears clouding her vision, and she sniffles as the once heavy jar now becomes light. She holds it close to her chest, ribs aching and thighs numb from the bitter cold water.
Sun had always liked the beach. And as the gray clouds swirled overhead, the promise of rain on the horizon, Blake still didn't get the appeal.
