Servants might have spiritual bodies but they are still susceptible to the elements. More than that, sometimes it just feel good to take a shower after an activity and slip in a clean change of clothes. Saber had been asked to help in the cafeteria as Archer was away – the amount of new nicknames that Tamamo Cat came for him was only matched by the amount of flour she poured on him. Some nonsense about him having nice cakes or whatever she meant with that – perhaps the bowman scowls so often that it discourages the unpredictable Servant. In any case, after assisting with whatever possible he had to clean himself in order to be able to go to spirit form again and not many individuals enjoy the sensation of being baked in flour all the time so he had to go to his room for a moment. 「 Seriously. What a waste of flour. 」 It didn’t take long for him to get rid of it despite still feeling a little “dusty”, the slight annoyance lingering. The blacksmith was so distracted that barely heard the door to his room opening.

A look into the multiverse chapter 5

Soooo. Due to post limit im gonna have to reblog this post with the rest. Just tell y'all when you wonder where the rest is lol. Anyways intro for Winter is done by ExiledDarkness. Everything else is all meeee! On with the post.

A flash of light blinds everyone in the room. As it dies down, Winter Schnee is shown to be standing in the middle of the room.

"Winter?!" Weiss exclaims in shock. The rest of the cast, except for Qrow who groans in annoyance, keeps silent as Weiss explains to Winter about the situation they're in.

Winter nods. "I see. How interesting. I usually wouldn't do something like this but it appears that I have been given no other choice."

"Yeah, that seems to be the case with everything going on in my life." Jaune says while scratching his head.

The screen's light flickers on again and shows a boy setting up his computer and putting a helmet on his head. The sound of the computer starting up is heard.

"Link start!" With those words a flash of light appears with lines of color streaking across the screen.

"That voice sounded familiar …" Winter muttered to herself

"What was that Winter? Weiss asked, turning to her sister.

"Ah. It's nothing"

"Ah. Sword art online." The boy thinks to himself, sighing wistfully. "It's been a while since the beta. Wonder if they change anything?

A man in his early 20s with white hair looks and sees that ads plague the area around him.

"Oh c'mon guys, really? That's just disgusting." The man said to no one, his disgust at the ads was apparent.

"Yeah, seriously. That's just annoying. Qrow said with a grimace.

"Active Adblocker" A screen appeared in front of the young saying it was 29.99 for the Adblocker DLC. The man chuckled darkly. "I'm gonna burn this F***r to the ground.

"Please do!" Nora said a manic grin on her face.

The scene cuts to Blond man with long hair being tackled by a pig, the man blonde groaning in pain.

"That's Sun." Blake said almost immediately.

"How can you tell? Yang asked.

"I just know."

"Well he just got his ass kicked by a pig." Jaune said, laughing a bit

"Wow, Congrats. You were defeated by a pig." The white hair man was there looking down at Blonde unimpressed.

"F**k you man, that's like a pig from hell! The blonde cried, looking at the boar in terror.

"Really?" The white hair man smirked, and picked up a rock and threw it at the boar's ass killing it. It exploded into shards and a screen showed the exp he had got from killing it.

"Wow. This either that blonde guy sucks that bad or the other guy just that good." Mercury said with a grin.

"My god." He gasped with a shit eating grin on his face. "I've stumbled across the most powerful weapon in the game"

"Stop" The blonde whimper.

"The Mithril Pebble of pig smithing!"

"Please stop."

The white hair man takes a deep breath of air as the Blonde groans.

"My god, this sounds like something Whitely would do." Weiss said with an annoyed look.

"For you see, long ago, this pebble was forged in the fiery pits of tartarus,by the grand blacksmith of Lucifer himself. In a time before the world began…

The blonde facepalm as his party member continued. The sun had started to fall when the white haired man was finishing up.

"And thus, Mardoza, Guardian of the pebble, fell to his knees, and passed from this world, leaving behind the mighty weapon. For he knew... that one day, it's power would be required once more.

"Are you done?" The blonde asked.

"Yes." But then he whispered: The legacy of the pebble lives on.

"I have a feeling you get beat up a lot in real life." The blonde snarked.

"And he's using it as some kinda power fantasy cause he can't be that cool in real life." Yang added.

"Shut up! Here I have power!"

"Right, anyways, I've got a pizza coming, and I'm gonna meet up with some friends later.

So thanks for the quick tutorial on pig slaying and the not so quick tutorials on…. rocks…Shirou Yuki?" The blonde slowly wording out the other's username.

"Hey,no problem. I had fun taunting you." Shirou said with a grin. "Ballsdeep69"

"Yeah that's Sun." Blake said, shaking her head. "Only he would come up with such a dumb name."

Meanwhile Winter had a good idea who Shirou Yuuki was, but didn't want to say anything until she was 100% sure.

Ballsdeep69 laughs a bit. "Yeah it's uh, it's just a joke name. Just a character to dick around with while I get a hang of the game. I'm gonna make my real character later."

"Yeah yeah. No, I get it."

Shirou and balls look at each other awkwardly for a while when Shirou breaks the silence. "So uh...your pizza?"

"Right,right logging out." Balls swipes the air with his right hand and goes to log out but notices something odd.

"Hey,Shirou?" Balls called out. "Um, Totally noob question, but how do I log out?

"Are you serious, man?" Shirou asked exasperated.

"Yeah, Really dude? How hard is it to logout?" Jaune asked just as exasperated.

"Hey this Nervegear man. I can't Alt-F4 this sh*t.

Shirou sighs. "Alright fine. It's right…" He looked at his menu screen in confusion. "Here?"

"Oh thanks, player's guide." Balls deadpan.

"No it's here. But it's just blank."

Balls turns back to his menu and something catches his eye. "Oh wait, something scrolling Across mine. HahahahahahahaHAHAha"

"I get it." Shirou said with a frown.

"Wait, Wait, there's more. Ha."

"Riveting."

"Wait so they can't log out? What happened?" Ruby asked the rest of the confused viewers

"Eh no worries I'll just take the nervegear off like SO!" Balls reaches around his head and tries to take it off to no effect.

"Hey, dumbass, It doesn't work like that." Shirou sheerned. "The Nervegear disables your motor function so you don't move around in the game. Don't you remember all those videos of the beta testers?

The clip on Dustube plays, A man walking around in nerve gear is marlouving at the tech is shown. Someone, a friend of his walks up and offers a greeting to the man and he mistakes his friend for a troll and goes to pummel his friend into the ground.

It goes back to Shirou and Balls.

"So many lawsuits." Shirou muttered.

A few of the viewers had a good laugh at that.

"Uh, Do you feel tingly?" Balls asked before the two were transferred from mellow they were in a city square.

"No. Why?" Shirou asked casually. The two looked around and it seemed that other players were being teleported into the city square.

"What the hell is that?" Balls asked, looking at the sky going red.

"Well, I believe some people call it a Hexagon? Ain't 100% on that, gonna have to check my sources." Shirou snarked.

"Man f*ck off."

"I like this guy." Mercury said with a grin

The sky started to seem like it was starting to bleed.

"And The sky's bleeding" Shirou observed, not seeming to really care."

"Yeah, they are really pushing for that M rating." Balls repsoned on caring as much as Shirou.

"Wow the sky bleeds and they don't even care." Winter said.

"Probably because they know it's a video game, Ice Queen." Qrow reposned

A hooded figure appears flooding in the air. A wave of dangers fills most of the players in the area.

"Oh it's a person." Expect for one player.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am Jaune Arc, Head programmer!"The figure greeted."

"Jaune made this game?" Ruby asked, looking towards the blond.

"Nice Vomit boy." Yang said slapping Jaune on the back. Jaune grunted a bit but smiled towards Yang.

"Welcome to the unparalleled online Sword art onli-" Jaune was interrupted by the player being to talk frantically among themselves. Jaune tried to get them to focus their attention on him by muting them, but ended up muting himself.

"He knows he muted himself right?" Balls asked.

"Give him a minute." Shirou mutters. Jaune unmuted himself.

A few laugh at Jaune's mistake as the Blonde himself facepalms at his mistake.

"Alright. Just realized what happened there. It's very funny. But right now, serious time. How many of you have seen Tron?" He was met with complete and utter silence. Jaune looked over the crowd and was met with blank stares, not counting Shirou. "W-what seriously?! None of you have seen Tron?! " Jaune asked, completely baffled. "I was really banking on that."

"Seriously?! No one had seen Tron?" Jaune all but screamed.

A few viewers didn't want to admit to not seeing Tron either.

Jaune cleared his throat, and proceeded to wing the entire thing. "Much like the world of warcraft, none of you are here by choice anymore. Unlike WoW, however, your being held here by me, not by a need to escape your empty f*cking lives. There is no longer any way to log out of Sword art online. If someone on the outside attempts to log you by removing your Nerve gear, well… Has anyone seen scanners?

Jaune once again looked and was once again met with silence.

"Uh Scanners. It's a movie…. Seriously?! He grumbles to himself about how the people here had no class and pulled up a clip of a man's head exploding. "Okay. That was from Scanners… and basically that.

"First Tron, now Scanners?!" Jaune facepalm.

"You just trapped god knows how many people in a video game, and you're worried about what movie they haven't seen?! Weiss retorted. Jaune flinched and wisely kept quiet.

The crowd gasped in shock.

"Finally seeing some gears turning, making progress."

"Why would you do such a thing?!" One player cried out.

"Stephen? Stephen is that you?" Jaune asked happily "How are you enjoying that advance copy?"

"I'm playing it with my family!" Stephen repiled.

"Oh, that's right!" The hooded figure laughed. "Happy birthday Timmy!"

Little Timmy began to cry.

"Aw, They grow up so fast." He said, sighing. " Cherish these moments Stephen. Cherish these moments. So as I was saying, the only way to keep the nervegear from going Gallager on your grey matter, is to make your way through castle Aincrad and beat Sword Art Online!"

"So you want us to beat a MMO?" A random player asked.

"Essentially."

"F*CK YOU!"

"That is the correct response when someone says to beat a MMO" Ren said.

"Is it really that bad?" Oscar asked and he receive a loud

"YES!"

"WOAH! Getting a lot of hostility here. Do not appreciate it."

"Well honestly!" The same player began,"When was the last time you heard of someone beating Everquest?"

"When was the last time you heard of someone playing Everquest?" Jaune fired back. There was a slight pause.

"That's fair."

"Everquest…. That's a deep cut." Qrow said, sighing thinking back.

"Anywho, for all you guys that wanted to play as girls, and you know who you are," Despite not seeing his face they could tell Jaune had a huge grin. "I've got a surprise for you!"

A mirror appeared in everyone's hands and a light filled the city.

A young boy, no older than 14 was where Shirou was. He still had the white hair and was wearing the same clothes but was more lankey and shorter than the man who was once there.

"Shirou Yuuki?" The boy turned and a familiar face was shown.

"Whitely?!" Weiss cried out at the sight of her brother.

"I knew it was him." Winter said. The username gave him away, Not only is it the username for when he goes on forums, Shirou Yuuki has the same meaning as his real name.

"How do you know what username he uses when he's online? Weiss asked her sister, a question that went unanswered.

"You're not a girl!" A fat player cried out.

"And you're not 17!" Another skinner one also cried out."

"I'm okay with this!"

"Me too!"

"LOVE KNOWS NO GENDER!" Someone shouted out.

"A wise seminent. Ozpin said sipping his coffee."

Sword Art Online As A Whole - A Review

As you may imagine, this is not going to be a positive review. I’m not going to come away singing Kirito’s praises and saying he’s the greatest protagonist any show has had ever. This show is terrible, and the few interesting or redeeming qualities of it are little nuggets of gold in a vast sea of shit.

That said, let’s dive in.

I have heard people say that “Sword Art Online’s first arc was great, and it only went downhill when they introduced fairies to it!” I would say to you, “Well, you’re entitled to your opinion, but you’re wrong.” Since pretty much day one, SAO has had flaws and issues that are impossible to ignore. Its character problem, for one thing. Barely any characters that aren’t Kirito get any screentime, and none of them (save maybe Asuna and Sinon) get any development. Female characters exist to faun over Kirito, and male characters exist to fill a role and not be people on their own.

Beyond character issues, we’ve also got the filler garbage that plagued SAO in its early episodes. Rather than having each episode fit into the arc and tell a continuous story from beginning to end, the first 4 introduce characters, settings, plot elements, and set up the way the show will progress from here on out. Then, suddenly, episode 5 gives us an MMO murder mystery that can only be solved by Our Hero, Kirito! And episode 6 continues the story, because we’re all oh-so-invested in this story that it had to be a two-parter. Hell, episode 4 is a bit of a grey area, since it introduces Silica (the girl with the dragon on her head, don’t feel bad if you’ve forgotten who she is) and not much else. Same goes for episode 7 introducing Lizbeth the blacksmith. Both of these girls, as I said, fall for Kirito, because that’s what girls do in this show. The only girl who never exhibits romantic tendencies towards him is Yuuki from Mother’s Rosario, and I’m fairly certain that’s because she’s in love with Asuna. But I digress. While the show gets back on track around episode 8, the episodes love to futz about and digress into side stories. For example, the Marty Feldman Fish subplot. It eats up half an episode, does absolutely nothing to further anyone’s storylines, and robs us of a potentially awesome fight with a giant centipede-skeleton.

Sword Art Online has a major problem with pacing. The filler is a big part of it, but there’s also the issue of Reki Kawahara being unable to deliver exposition unless the characters are sitting in a cafe. It happens with alarming frequency. Early on in season 2, there is a 10-minute-long scene where Kirito gets information fed to him while doing nothing but sitting in a cafe quietly listening. This grinds the pacing to a complete dead halt. I’m not watching this show for boring exposition delivered while sitting completely still, I’m watching this show to see people doing things!

Although even when it comes to people doing things, it’s pretty lackluster. The fight scenes in the show are abysmal. They are, without fail, Kirito and/or friends hacking and slashing at a target bigger than them which does very little other than stand there and take it. The enemy may attack once or twice for every thirty hits Kirito and/or friends get in. Throw in some insert shots of Kirito whining about how he needs to move faster, and you’ve got a Sword Art Online fight scene. There are very, very few fights that don’t follow this pattern. It makes the fights formulaic and just serves to hammer in what an incredibly boring protagonist Kirito is.

Kirito is intended to be a stoic loner who’s really good at video games. He comes across as an emotionless asshole (though he’s really good at screaming) who is strong not because he’s good at what he does, but because his writing is piss-poor. He’s practically invincible, and the only times he’s ever lost have been when a) the enemy was cheating, b) he wasn’t fighting “for real”, or c) he totally won anyway, shut up. Combine his generic powerfulness with his boring design (he looks like every harem anime protagonist ever, though I guess that’s fitting since he kind of is), and you’ve got a character perfect for young boys to project themselves on to. In short, Kirito is the character who gets the most development and screen time, and he’s still incredibly boring.

Remember when he approved of being called a “Beater”? What an idiot.

I’m not going to do a section on all the other characters in the show, because they can all basically be summed up in one word: Bland. There, done. Moving on.

Reki Kawahara has a major issue when it comes to writing female characters. He seems to view them as accessories to the main character, things to tell him how great he is, or spur him to action. This would likely be the reasoning behind the second half of the first season, where Kirito spends the entire time questing to rescue his girlfriend from a guy calling himself the Fairy King Oberon. (No, I will never get over that name.) And in that season, the Fairy King Oberon nearly rapes Kirito’s girlfriend, down to ripping off her clothes and declaring that after he’s “satisfied” himself there, he’s going to go to her real body and do the same thing. And that was fucking awful! I hated it! It was a shitty fucking swerve to pull on your audience, and I gave Reki much flak for it.

Then he pulled the same shit again at the end of the GGO arc. It almost seemed for a while that the only dramatic situation Reki could think of for a female character was attempted rape. Fortunately, after watching Mother’s Rosario, it’s clear that’s not the case, but it doesn’t mean he won’t try and pull that same garbage again in the future. To be perfectly honest, I think that I might not hold the same level of hatred towards this series that I do if there hadn’t been two attempted rape scenes. Two!

I’m not even going to go into all the more minor, nitpicky details. I could sit here for hours rambling about how shit Yui was as a character, or how absolutely god-awful any one of the MMOs featured in this show were, and how Reki Kawahara doesn’t understand a thing about video games. I could do that! But I won’t, because that would just start to get overly-detailed, and I’ve already done that while liveblogging the whole series. So instead, I’ll wrap this up.

Sword Art Online started with a decent premise. People trapped in a video game, if they die they die for real, sure. Great. Not exactly original, but it’s a fine premise. It spun this off into a show that resolved its own major plot by episode 14 of a 25 episode season, and then continued on fucking about and wondering what to do with itself. Sword Art Online is only worth watching if you watch it in the same way I did: purely out of morbid curiosity, and sharing your thoughts and frustrations with other people along the way. Do not buy this show. Don’t buy the original light novels. If you’re going to watch it, you can see the full series with a Netflix account. Don’t give money to Reki Kawahara for writing a hacky series of garbage books that don’t have the first clue how video games work. Stay away from Sword Art Online.

For some reason things seemed quiet – way too quiet for his tastes. He could feel it in his bones: it was just a matter of time until something stupid happens. Maybe someone is going to blow up something, or get turned into a cat, or there will be a drinking contest. Or even another crazy singularity. Who knows? There’s never a dull moment, and it is always the calmest before the goddamned storm. The blacksmith was already dreading coming out of his forge but he needed to grab a few things (including sake) so he decided to get done with that and retreat back without fuss. Ok, maybe checking on a few people to make sure they are staying out of trouble and bail them out if necessary.

Ah, there goes one of the people that he would “bail out”: that young clueless Master, Yuuki. She might be older, but still naïve as a kid – even Onui could be a little more mature…But again, some kids are forced to mature faster than others, so Yuuki was fortunate in that regard although by no means completely ignorant… Or so he hoped. In any case, the girl was usually with her head deep in some kind of trouble, either caused by her own hand or those crazy Servants of hers… And she kinda seemed a little out of it.

❝ Hey, kiddo. You okay? You don’t look so hot.❞ the way she stammered got him worried. Was she having a fever? Something wasn’t right! The concerned blacksmith was about to touch her forehead to check her temperature, when noticing her gaze lingering a little too long on his chest, clear lust in her features.

Oh no. This crap again?!

Using all the restraint he could muster, he flicked her forehead.

❝ FOOL! Get a grip of yerself!❞

She was lucky she wasn’t a Servant or he would have decked her right there!

She was both embarrassed and confused. She hadn’t felt these feelings before except near Angra. Her heart racing, her face flush. She’s never cared about his attire or lack thereof before! She had no idea what was wrong with her. She shook her head a few times covering her face with her hands. “I-I don’t get what’s going on! I-I’m sorry, all I know is..” She said, trailing off as she shuddered again. “I-Is it feels like I want you to hold me. L-Like I want to always be near you and I don’t get it!” She said, shaking her head once more.

“Everything’s all confusing. I-I was just drinking this drink left for me in the kitchen, and then everything went hay wire!” 

She sighed heavily before slightly peering at his face through her slightly spread fingers. “I-I’m sorry Muramasa!” Her voice was littered with more embarrassment than ever.

“I-I feel like I w-want to ask you to hold me a-and I can’t explain it! ” She took a staggering half step forward before stopping herself. “I-I’m sorry! P-Please don’t hold this against me! I-I’m just grateful all I want is to have you pick me up, or pat my head, o-or hold my hand... S-Something is just terribly wrong!” And with that, she dropped the cup. It wasn’t made of glass, thankfully, but some of the pink liquid spilt and littered the floor. “Oh god I'm so embarrassed, more so than normal! I-I was about to come visit you and see how your work was doing!”

My Review of Berserk (2016 - 2017)

THIS NEW STORY: It has been approximately two years since that fateful day when Guts nearly escaped a bloody hell-hole. Since that time, he roams the countryside. With one eye missing and an arm made of metal, he continues on a solo journey. But because of a brand on his neck, he has become a roaming target for demons that lurk in the night. This story of Berserk takes Guts into a whole new set-up with new allies, new enemies, but his attitude remains. Most of the first season is dedicated to finding Casca (who ends up missing), while the second season adds more characters that travel with Guts as they slay random demons. BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: First the sub. Unfortunately, it’s the same cast from the movie trilogy instead of the original cast from the television series. I’ve already made my views pretty clear that I liked the TV series cast better than the movie cast (with the exception of Takahiro Sakurai playing Griffith). For new character purposes, there are many voices I can recognize within seconds (including Mitsuki Saiga and Satomi Arai). Now for licensing purposes, this anime is being streamed by Crunchyroll and will eventually be released by Crunchyroll on Blu-ray and DVD with an English dub. So now Berserk has three licensors for the franchise. The original series is with Media Blasters, the movies are with Viz, and now Crunchyroll has the new series. Never mind…I think FUNimation has its hands in this as well. And with that said, let's talk about the new dub. I didn’t think it was possible, but they just made this shit worse than it possibly could be by replacing the remaining 3 voices with other people. I don’t want to pass judgment on the new voice actors. I honestly think Kaji Tang is okay as Guts. But it’s just a definite kick in the ears when they replaced Guts, Griffith, and Casca’s English voice actors. And seeing as the dubbing company is in L.A. and two of these voice actors are stationed in L.A., this seems really fishy. Especially since they’ve been doing these characters for almost 20 years and just recently did the movie trilogy. With that said, here’s the NEW English cast to Berserk 2016/2017. *Guts is played by Kaji Tang (known for Archer on Fate/stay night: UBW, Tsumugu on Kill la Kill, Kizakura on Danganronpa 3, Kouen on Magi, and Derflinger on Familiar of Zero) *Griffith is played by Steve Staley (known for Hitsugaya on Bleach, Neji on Naruto, Inumuta on Kill la Kill, Moondoggie on Eureka Seven, and Senri on Vampire Knight) *Casca is played by Karen Strassman (known for Takano on Higurashi, Suigintou on Rozen Maiden, Kallen on Code Geass, Anna on Monster, Miyuki on Lucky Star, Sawako on K-ON, and Yasuko on Toradora) OLD CHARACTERS: So it’s been two years since the events of the original series/story. So aside from Guts, where are the other memorable characters? Let’s start with the Band of the Hawk…oh…that’s right, they’re all dead. Except for little Ricket! Little Ricket grew up in 2 years and spends his time as an apprentice for a blacksmith. Princess Charlotte is still missing Griffith and her father is dead. Casca has no memories of her past left and literally has the mind of a child since the day she escaped from the blood-soaked, corpse-filled hell-hole. Griffith…is still a fucking demon! But somehow has acquired his human form back. NEW CHARACTERS: In a tough new world Guts is in with demons and evil spirits looming around, why don’t we add fairies, witches, and Christians? Yeah, why not?! First we have Puck, a fairy that’s there…He’s just there. Isidro is a young boy who takes a shine to Guts after he saved him. But I honestly think he’s just the comic relief of the show. Farnese in the first season was a leader of a prominent group of knights and was heavily religious. But after being saved by Guts on several occasions, Farnese and her right-hand man Serpico wound up traveling with Guts. Schierke is a witch-in-training who ends up helping Guts. And Sonia…I want to say this bitch has some sort of Stockholm Syndrome. She ends up following, helping, and praising Griffith. She's just a complete mystery! With that said, here’s what you might recognize these new characters from. NEW FAVORITE CHARACTER: So in the old Berserk series, I enjoyed Casca very much. But in this series, unfortunately Casca’s memories and mind are just…well, let’s not go there. This time, I found myself liking Luca from the 2016 season. I don’t care that she’s a literal whore. She was faithful to her friends and did what she had to in order to survive. And did her best to protect Casca and even help out Guts. She’s one of the nicest characters out there in a world of uncertainty, demons, and God-fearing dick-wads. SHIPPING: Sighs...Someday dammit! Someday! Schierke x Guts is still cute though... MUSIC: As you know, the original Berserk had one of the best OST’s in anime history (excluding the opening and ending themes). And even those themes were pretty awesome in their own way. Now if there was one thing I was satisfied with watching this abomination, the music was decent. The background music was fitting and definitely a step up from the movie trilogy. As for the opening and ending, I really loved the first opening. The music I mean, the animation can suck it. The first opening shows a 1:30 condensed story to Guts’s time with the Band of the Hawk, while the second opening shows more action with the new cast. The two ending themes were softer than the openings. But if I had to choose my favorite songs, I would pick the 2016 opening, Inferno by 9mm Parabellum Bullet and the 2017 ending, Issai wa Monogatari by Yoshino Nanjo. ANIMATION: So did the animation improve after the movies? Hell no! I don’t condone the animation being so CGI. A lot of the character designs feel very sloppy and lazy to a point where I’d almost compare it to the first season of Sailor Moon Crystal. The animation to this series is somehow WORSE than the movie trilogy (I didn’t think it was possible). It almost makes the series unwatchable. Me personally, I like to see things through to the end, but the animation is just so atrocious that it bugs me how some of the character designs and movements can set off my eyes. For God’s sake, the Playstation games for Berserk have better character design than this fucking anime and that’s a fucking shame! ENDING TO SEASON ONE: For half of the season, Guts has been searching for Casca and every episode he gets close but no girl! Casca has been literally wandering around where she’s cared for by a band of whores, groped by creepies, revered by more creepies, praised, condemned, and eventually captured by bad guys. And let’s not forget that her brain has been reduced to that of an infant's! Casca ends up being kidnapped and is about to be sacrificed because she has a mark (just like Guts) and is somehow immune to being eaten by these demons that consume regular humans. Isidro and Puck were able to save Casca before she could be burned at the stake. And Guts was able to slay his way to where Casca is and take down a few angels. But during this night of hell, demons of all shapes and sizes were coming towards anything remotely human. But thanks to Guts, he was able to take care of them all. And then morning came and there’s one more giant monster to take care of. But that monster has… ...wait...is that Griffith in human form? Well seeing as this is the last episode of the season and the last 5 minutes of the episode, we're not getting any questions answered. Thought so. Okay, onto season two. SEASON TWO: The animation is still giving me eye-cancer. Come on guys, if Sailor Moon Crystal could improve tenfold within nine months, you guys could have improved to a point where the characters don’t look like dead-eyed bowel movements! But I digress! Guts and Casca return back to Ricket and the swordsmith (or lack there of). The old swordsmith died sometime after Guts left. But that moment has passed because guess who returned? Bastard betrayer and dude looks like a lady himself, Griffith! Because Ricket doesn’t know, he’s optimistic of a revival for the Band of the Hawk. But Guts is all, “HELL NO, GRIFFITH MUST DIE!” Griffith even has one of the old monsters (Zod) that Guts fought in the very first season go after and fight Guts. It wasn’t until Griffith and Zod left that Guts told Ricket everything about why he hates Griffith now. That he was the reason all of his comrades are dead and that Casca is in a state of…let’s just call it confusion. And so it’s decided that Guts and Casca will take a trip to wherever the hell Puck (the fairy) came from. Because fairies for whatever reason this story has to continue! However, certain bad things happen at night that cause Guts to act beastly around Casca. A possible side-effect to the brand on his neck, who knows? END OF SEASON TWO: So this 2017 version seemed a little better compared to the previous season in the action department. Guts does get another upgrade in the weaponry department thanks to the Skull Knight (the same one that saved him at the end of the third movie), though this upgrade does come at a price as it does shorten Guts's life-span. But Guts does get the job done when protecting his group from uncertain doom. Well, Guts now has the Berserker…and now part of his hair has a silver streak. And this group got a hot tip that this next town may help Casca regain her brains and she can go back to normal. YAY, my favorite character could go back to normal! How many more episodes to this season? One. But…there could be another season next year, right? Manga author puts Berserk on hiatus until further notice. OH, FUCK ME! And I suppose we’re not going to see any interactions between Guts and Griffith! Didn't think so. So the last episode has them in a new town filled with humans. There’s a meeting between Schierke and Sonia. Then another meeting between Isidro and Wolflame (that turned into a brawl)! So Gut’s comrades meet Griffith’s comrades. And the final episode is just Schierke getting upset at Isidro for saying something but then he apologizes to her by the end. And for a second, we had to worry about Schierke joining Sonia, which would lead her to work with Griffith. But she’s sticking to Guts. And we end with Schierke getting a wardrobe update (since she gets looked down a lot for dressing like a witch). And a promise of this journey continuing! This anime is a fucking mess. While the original Berserk anime left off on a WTF ending, the two seasons that followed were just a mess to sit through. And at the top of the list of complaints, it was the damn animation. I think many of us long for the days of the hand-drawn animes of the 1990s, especially when we get this CGI dump. But I think another thing that set me off was setting us up for something that might be amazing only for the last episode to just give us a middle finger. I think it’s too late to ask for a reboot to this since the reboot to Berserk has shit animation too. But as long as we’re waiting for a continuation, you think the animation could improve…just a bit? I don’t urge anyone to sit through this eye cancer. But if you were a big fan of Berserk, original Berserk and were truly curious of what happens to Guts next, go for it. If you want to watch Berserk…I urge you to find the original series. Please, see it if you can find it. But if you can’t, the movie trilogy is available for purchase from your video retailer and even Youtube has it available for purchase/rent. As for this series in particular, as usual Crunchyroll has all the episodes available (including the two recap episodes). And FUNimation has the dub available for paying subscribers.

This chapter also deals with some heavier stuff, bringing me a little closer to resolving some of Yuuki’s struggles from earlier chapters. But it won’t be an easy journey...
