Symposium on Black Beauty. Honored to be one of the speakers. Learning about the amazing works by everyone on the panel was inspiring, empowering and reaffirming! I’ve been planting a lot of seeds for myself over the last few years. Some of them are finally blooming and I realized it today. Like I panicked a bit and then my ancestors came in with the soothe and cool. They told me that this is what I asked for. No fear. Being a Black Femme isn’t easy. Being a Black Femme in the arts and production is a hole other thing. There is not team of folks behind me. No manager. No assistants. It’s just me, @acupofsheri and the folx who have continuously supported and encouraged me even when I didn’t have a clue about where I was going. Most of you I’ve never even met IRL, so I’ve been blown away. Especially this year. This year while it continues to be tough for us all has also been a silver lining for me. . . . Sometimes life can move so fast. When times are tough they are easily remembered but when things get good sometimes we miss them, because we want the good to keep happening. We don’t want to be forgotten. . . . On Friday I am shooting a music video with @annahaas_creative. I have been able to curate and collaborate on a vision that is going to highlight the beauty and diversity of Black folx in my city. Like this is happening. Thank you to everyone who is going to be a part of this process with us. . . . We are still looking for some diverse Black folks to cast.
