Costume of the Year- Round 1

💫 Hi, everyone! Cream Puff Cookie reporting in for Round 1 of the Costume of the Year Awards! How do you get involved? Easy! Vote for the costume you want, and get 100 Crystals for your first vote in the round! When the timer expires, the votes are counted and the winners move to the next round. 💫 …and that’s the bracket! Unfortunately, not every costume was added either due to their limited-time nature, the directors’ inability to find a proper matchup in the brackets, or the costume’s lack of popularity. One example being my “Almost Great Detective”. There was also only one Common costume in the entire bracket: Gingerbrave’s Tuxedo. Staring down Purple Yam, based on a short meeting with him, I would guess he’ll be out in the first round, but who knows? The post’s votes will be updated as needed, and winners will be marked. That’s it! Good luck to everyone in the bracket!

Summer-time Sorority Tea Party

The 14 Visions of Fortitude (14VOF) line sisters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. decided to get together for a long overdue respite, a summer tea party proved to be the perfect fit. 

The Tea Party host, wanted to create a memorable experience for her sorority sisters, as this would be her first time entertaining them at her home and their first time together as a group in several years.

She knew she had to kick it up a notch for these ladies. She wanted the Tea Party to be sophisticated and incorporate the colors and symbols of the sorority in a creative yet subtle fashion.A robust menu was complete with homemade appetizers, main dishes and a signature cocktail. The ladies also engaged in fun games and activities, but the main event of the Tea Party was a personalized, vintage-style dessert table that struck the perfect balance of elegance, sweet and sisterhood! 

Here’s a closer look the dessert table.

The dessert table design was inspired by the Sorority colors (crimson and cream) and, of course, the party theme. As such, for this DIY vintage dessert table, she used pieces from her collection of vintage china and tea pots as the key decorative elements of the table. Each tea cup embraced a single burgundy pearl rose, establishing a simple yet stunning tone that was carefully paired with the floral arrangements that adorned the table.

The table was anchored with burgundy pearl rose and carnation floating bouquets.

In addition, an overflowing floral arrangement saturated with pedal roses, hydrangeas, snapdragons, ferns and more, served as a magnificent centerpiece that hit all the right notes by seamlessly complimenting the floral table cloth and china patterns and providing a soft, eye-catching backdrop for the featured desserts. 

A tea cup decorated red-velvet cake with raspberry buttercream was on-theme, delicious and the perfect choice as the main dessert. It was exquisitely decorated from the inside out to match the colors of the Sorority and the Tea Party concept.

Heart-shaped apple tarts expressed the sentiments of the affair—sisterly love.

The ladies fell in love with this adult version of a childhood favorite.This rice krispy tower is made with chocolate coated rice krispies.

 Lindt dark chocolate and Lindt white chocolate make these a real grown-up treat. The white chocolate treats are colored red to match the party theme.

Strawberry and blackberry kabobs were a quick and easy way to add a fresh, healthy and colorful touch to table.

Shortbread cookies were decorated in the Sorority colors and letters and personalized with the name of each line sister.

The 14VOF were impressed with the overall design and assortment of the dessert table, but their hearts melted when they saw the personalized cookies. It was an extra special touch that they didn’t expect.

For those who did not have room for dessert, goodie bags were provided for them to enjoy their sweet treats at home! Fun and games were on-theme and interspersed throughout the party. Examples include tea tastings, tea jeopardy, and the secret tea dish. At the end of the party, winners received one of the beautiful floral arrangements from the dessert table.
