So for something to quench your thirst we’re going with a sometimes forgotten classic 1973’s Ganja & Hess directed by Bill Gunn an artistic horror of addiction, loss of humanity, salvation, greed & love. It follows Dr.Hess a anthropologist who after being attacked and left for dead is now left with a thirst that can never be quenched played by Duane Jones known for playing Ben in Night of The Living Dead & Marlene Clark as Ganja a women who wants everything life has to offer, who won’t let go of it for anyone. The film is an artistic horror piece & at the start I felt I couldn’t tell what its rhythm was but once it settled in I could see what it was going for it’s an interesting take on a usual monster of horror & the comparison to real life vices and the choices we make in our addictions and against them as well as what we’ll do for greed.
