As a result of being burdened by knowledge, and an indulgent inability to remain silent, I would like to discuss scent notes and perfumes that I associate with Childe in consideration of his nature and nurture. I’ll also likely be redoing the post in which I compared him to garnets (x) tomorrow; this is because that post was genuinely intended to be a skeleton and there are many details that were overlooked, both in regards to him and the stone itself, which feels like injustice twofold. Anywho, let’s begin.
Tumblr media
For the purposes of this, I’ll first be tackling the elephant in the room. The official Tartaglia perfume, which was formulated by Primaniacs in collaboration with MiHoyo. I do not care for this perfume, I disagree with half of its the associations, and I will personally be disregarding it here onwards because I’m not legally prohibited from doing so.
It should be noted that aside from the “Tartaglia” name and face slapped onto this scent, it also mentions its association with the hydro element; I do not think it would be unreasonable to believe that this perfume can be seen to extend to the hydro element as a whole rather than be exclusive to him. This is the interpretation I choose to utilise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will however state my (reluctant) agreement with few of the associated notes mentioned. Namely, Tonka Beans; Bergamot and Orange flower (mentioned together as they will be tackled in one go); Cumin and Nutmeg, and Agarwood.
Tonka Beans make sense on several grounds; firstly, they’re actually one of the most common ingredients in masculine brews (see: Giorgio Armani Black Code; Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille; Givenchy Givenchy Play Intense). Tonka creates a beautiful and comforting warmth in the scent; it’s quite similar to vanilla, but much… smokier, one may say. You’ll notice that a lot of the ingredient I focus on will have much to do with warmth. Historically, the seeds would be dried and soaked in rum for a certain amount of time in order to extract the scent, though artificial substitutes exist to offer the same result now.
Bergamot and Orange Flower are both citrus notes, though the former offers a much stronger one in comparison to the citrusy-floral amalgam that the latter offers. The reason I agree with these is that citrus notes are seen as quite common in aquatic scents as they recall the freshness of the sea breeze (see: Armani Giorgio Acqua Di Gio; Royall Lyme of Bermuda Royall Yacht; Czech & Speake Ausonia).
Cumin and Nutmeg are both spices, so one can imagine that they lead to a warm, comforting, and, well, spicy, scent. Remember how I said only a short while ago that warmth will be a prominent focus of mine? Exactly. No matter where he travels to, no matter where he goes, I’m quite certain he’d like a scent that reminds him of home; considering perfume etiquette requires one to wear fragrance according to the weather and occasion, I imagine warmer scents will be much more reminiscent of the contrasting, overbearing cold conditions that his nation offers.
Agarwood (the wood of Gods) — often interchangeable with oud in the fragrance world, despite both different— is such a deliciously warm and spicy note as well; it can be a bit overwhelming for some if it is found to be too heavy in a scent (which is quite common and rather easy to manage) but it can provide such a delicious base if handled right.
With these justifications done, I will now begin to write the notes that I personally associate with him.
I simply cannot deny the association of musk; another one of the most common notes found in perfumes. It’s warm, it’s soft and heavenly, it’s delicious. It is often seen as bringing a more primal, instinctual, and almost animalistic mood to the fragrance. This comes as no surprise considering it was historically obtained from male musk deers’ glands, even if we are now able to enjoy this scent artificially as well due to modern development and discoveries.
Speaking of animal origins and perfumes, did you know that whale vomit was traditionally a rather popular ingredient in perfumes? Ambergris is a substance that comes from the digestive system of sperm whales; it smells quite foul when fresh, as one would reasonably expect. It smells like faeces, actually. Again, as one would reasonably expect. However, it… becomes pleasant after drying down? Warm, musky. Ambrein is then extracted from the ambergris to be used in brews; rather, it is the quantity of of this alcohol that dictates the quality of the ambergris. It is still used, however due to issues with both cost and access it has been replaced with a synthetic counterpart for the most part, with notable exceptions. It also has a history of being used an aphrodisiac? But so has musk, so, such usage is quite common with animal-origin ingredients and notes, but I digress. It was just a fact I find somewhat curious.
Leather is a big one as well. Do I have much explanation for this? No. Leather scents can come in a wide variety, from smooth, cozy, suave and sensual, to rough, primal, smoky, and beastly. It mostly depends on what ingredients are being used and which notes are being aimed to replicate; the fragrance house of Memo, Paris is extraordinary at replicating different types of leather scents; they’re arguably my favourite when it comes to scents, actually. But either way, there is a kick to it; a spicy, warm, and intense presence that you cannot deny.
I would like to give special mention to saffron, tobacco, rum, gin, bourbon, amber (especially amber), vanilla, cardamom and other spices for bringing a similar warmth and comfort to their scents that I’m absolutely certain would suit him very well. Also vetiver, because it brings a woody delight to any fragrance it embraces.
Tumblr media
Now comes the discussion of perfumes; arguably what I’m most excited for and the main reason that I wished to write this.
Tumblr media
First off the list is Ocean Leather, by Memo, Paris.
Now, the official site claims it to comprise of Vetiver, Nutmeg, Cedar, Mandarin oil, Sage, and a leather accord. It also has basil and elemi, so I’m certain you can imagine how all of this together with the mandarin oil would offer you a truly citrusy, aquatic scent, combined the comfort of leather, nutmeg, vetiver and cedar. This, along with the gorgeous whale artwork, makes this almost perfect for him. Almost.
This is the only one in the list that I haven’t smelt myself (because somehow, much to my dismay, no stores seem to be carrying it) however, I’ve heard a lot of people review it to be more of a… clean scent? Which I feel doesn’t suit Ajax at all.
For the record, fragrances are often divided as being either clean scents, or dirty scents. Clean scents are those that are not overwhelming, these are scents containing light, refreshing notes. You should expect something like citrus-heavy, something that’s very suited to spring with light, fresh floral notes. Something you’d smell in a professional setting, in an office perhaps. It’s a mild, timid scent. And I do not think it suits Ajax in any sense of the way, whether you take into account his domestic life or his professional life.
Dirty scents are warm, musky; they’re heavy, they’re entrancing, they’re so deeply connected to the Earth. They feel like browns and reds, like clay. No matter which face of him you choose to assign a scent to, it’ll likely fall under this. Imagine the sweet and gentle atmosphere at home, where he and his siblings huddle together as he cherry-picks the details of the sights he witnessed adventures, ensuring to leave out all the parts unfit for the children to hear. Do you imagine him to smell like a bouquet? Or do you imagine him to smell like home itself? A smoky sweetness that shares the depth of the abyss as it mixes with his body’s chemistry?
Or, imagine him in the battlefield; would this man smell like spring? Or would he smell like a mix of iron, sweat, musk and leather? There you have your answer.
So I’m not all too sure about this fragrance simply because I don’t have a personal reference to go off of, and everyone that I know in real life, as well as every online forum I seem to run into, calls it very light. I even saw someone refer to it as an office-scent? He is not wearing a damn office scent. However, if the citrusy notes are at balance with the leather and nutmeg and it’s offering a conflicting, fresh yet potently warm fragrance? That suits him perfectly.
Tumblr media
The second fragrance I’d like to discuss is Royall Yacht by Royall Lyme of Bermuda.
It is another aquatic fragrance and my goodness am I in love. It perfectly balances that need for aquatic accords through citrus and that need for warmth through the warmer notes. It has vetiver, lemon, cedar, musk, and amber (along with a few floral notes but they’re not the focus). Although reading off of the notes, one might imagine this to not be so strong in its aquatic mood due to the citrus being so limited, but reviews will prove otherwise. Most people state that it perfectly encapsulates the feeling of the lulling sea breeze as one sets sail. This does come with its own issue however, and that is the fact that this house in general (Royall) is not… particularly known or admired for the longevity of their fragrances. What I’m saying is that their fragrances don’t last very long at all. I say this from personal experience (due to owning a few fragrances) as well as online observation; perhaps an hour or two at most and then they are as good as gone, and that is if you’re not partaking in any strenuous activities that might make you break out in a sweat. I imagine this wouldn’t even last ten minutes on him, so I don’t, quite see a point in its purchase or wear for such an active man.
Tumblr media
The third I’d like to discuss is Opus XIV Royal Tobacco, by Amouage.
The notes are within the picture above: we’re seeing cardamom, musk, vetiver, agarwood, osmanthus, tobacco, licorice, benzoin, bergamot: I’m sure that you can tell that we’ve left the aquatic scent category by now. Though bergamot is present to give a citrusy feel, it’ll most just heighten the intensity of the other notes rather than offer its own unique mood. It’ll be a very dark, carnal, spicy scent with a lot of depth and smokiness to it; perhaps not suited for Ajax, a gentle family-man, but certainly fitting for the 11th Harbinger. I adore the longevity of Amouage fragrances, they’re known for their gorgeous bottles and their interesting ingredient and note selection, and this perfume is no exception.
It is such a mouthwateringly delicious scent, I cannot stress this enough. Also, the handle is made to recall the image of a Khanjar in one’s mind; Khanjars are traditional Middle Eastern and South Asian blades in the shape, usually worn by men on the hip. They’re crafted in the shape of a ‘J’ and their handles are made from a variety of materials, including but not limited to bone (especially camel bone), gold, and silver.
Tumblr media
My last and most important association is that of Iberian Leather, by Memo, Paris.
This is such a beautiful winter fragrance; I actually got it not too long ago but I have been so deeply in love with it. It lacks aquatic accords but it has a spiciness that can handle his duality. This fragrance can provide that intimidating, overwhelming, animatic atmosphere but it can also surround one with that comforting, cozy urge to huddle in. I call it a winter fragrance because it is just that heavy and warm; although I’m personally not one to follow the etiquette of limiting scents to seasons as I prefer heavier scents all year round, people have noted this to be perfect for winter use both in real life/personal expedience, and in online discussion. Its notes include cedarwood, vetiver, agarwood, oakmoss, amber, musk, vanilla, osmanthus, cinnamon, bergamot, clove, saffron, sandalwood, and a few flower notes as well. So you’re once again getting that wooziness and that spice but you’re not getting the sweet and tender darkness of tobacco and licorice. It’s still intense and it’s still deeply layered in its scent profile but it’s not dark. It’s something that’ll suit him no matter the situation he is in or who he has in his company, and this is arguably one of the best scents to douse your winter coat in because it is so, comforting, so warm, so cozy. It is so earthen and natural. It feels like sitting next to a bonfire on a cold night. It feels like him. Not to mention, the longevity of this (or, the whole house, rather) is very impressive; you can apply it in the morning and it’ll still very much be on you when you sleep, even if barely. No matter how hot it is outside, how much you’ve been sweating, it will be on you, so help you god.
I would also like to give special mention to a few other perfumes that were close but fell short, such as Russian Leather Memo Paris; Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio; Giorgio Armani Black Code; Flåm Memo Paris; Vancleef & Arpels Ambré Imperial; Vancleef & Arpels Tonka Imperial, and more.
With all associations and justifications stated, I’d like to conclude this post by also mentioning what he smells like? A lot of people forget to take into consideration that no fragrance smells the same on everyone; it has a lot to do with your body chemistry (& natural body odour) as well as what you’re doing throughout the day. For example, on some people, floral notes tend to be more prominent, while on others, vanilla or more gourmand notes might appear more prominent instead. Although I can’t speculate much on which notes would be more prominent on him (vanilla; I want to say vanilla) I do feel like he’d smell like a mix of his chosen fragrance and iron. I feel like from being in battle all day, the scent would become… even more him, due to constantly mixing with his own sweat and body odour throughout the day, which then further combines with the unmistakably metallic scent of blood if business requires more extreme measures,
I will say however I imagine his fatui fur-collar cloak to smell like the most comforting thing in the world. I’ve noticed this to be quite common in winter clothing somehow, especially when you wear it quite commonly. One does not realise (and does not care, really) whether they have applied anything on it already and just about on their normal routine, spraying it over and over until it just… seemingly sets in, creating a scent so unique to the wearer because it now smells like them and the fragrance combined. It smells like home, it smells like all the memories of your past winters that you spent with those who love you. It smells like solace and relief and a happy ending and I think he deserves that bittersweet comfort of domestic nostalgia.

Oh man, The Chicken Salad War just got real.
Found this while I was picking up a coronation chicken salad sandwich in Cambridge for the trip home. They're quite good; they do taste like curried chicken salad, but really that means mostly they're curry crisps with a bit of chicken flavoring. Listed seasoning includes coriander seed, cumin, turmeric, ginger, cayenne, black pepper, aniseed, green cardamom, dired onions, yeast extract, chicken extract, mustard, and dried mango. It makes me angry on behalf of America that we have like, four flavors of chips and then those four flavors in increasingly Spicy Masochism flavor. Bastards out here putting mango and cardamom on a fried potato and meanwhile it feels like whole aisles of the supermarket are dedicated to Takis and Flamin' Hot Cheetos.
These are 100% going in the book. I even know how but I can't spill it because it would spoil a huge plot point.
[ID: a photograph of a snack-sized bag of crisps in matte blue, with banners cris-crossing it printed on the wrapper. It reads "M&S Food: Hand Cooked Coronation Chicken Crisps". It's gluten free and best before August 2023.]

Getting Started
Clear the decks. Take everything out of your pantry, give it a hard look and decide what you can get rid of. Be ruthless. If you haven’t used it in a year, get rid of it.
Keep what looks and smells good. “Expiration,” “sell by,” and “best by” dates are not good guidelines. Some are determined by regulators, others by manufacturers, and almost all are arbitrary. Properly stored, some (unopened) ingredients, like canned fish, can last for years; others, like dried herbs, start declining in quality the moment they are sealed in a container.
Assess what remains. Then organize it according to the logic that makes sense to you: There’s no single best system. Your nut butters might be with the condiments, or the breakfast items, or the baking supplies.
Fill in the blanks with food that will make you a better cook. Each of the pantry lists below is a proposal, not a prescription. There’s no reason to stock black beans if you only like red. There’s no need to have everything here available at all times. You’ll know your pantry is well stocked for your purposes when most of the time, you need only add one or two fresh ingredients to cook one of our recipes from scratch. Or even better, none.
The Essential Pantry
The foundation layer for all three pantries, this is where everyone should start. There’s so much to be done with these basics. The rule here is stock your pantry mostly with what you’re confident using, and what you love to eat. You’ll turn to it again and again.
Oils and vinegars: Extra-virgin olive oil, neutral cooking oil (such as canola or grapeseed), red-wine vinegar, white vinegar or white-wine vinegar.
Cans and jars: Tuna in olive oil, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken stock or vegetable stock (box-packed tastes better than canned). A good-tasting, simple tomato sauce can become a soup or a stew, or make a quick dinner with pasta or polenta.
Spices and dried herbs: Kosher salt, red-pepper flakes, ground cayenne, curry powder, bay leaves, black peppercorns, sweet paprika, ground cinnamon, ground cumin, garlic powder or granulated garlic, dried thyme and dried oregano. This selection will take you through everything from a basic beef stew to Saturday morning pancakes to Thanksgiving dinner.
Grains and starches: Long-grain white rice, one or two other grains (such as quinoa or farro), dry pasta (one long, one short and chunky), plain bread crumbs, crackers, canned beans (white beans, black beans and-or chickpeas), dry lentils.
Nuts and nut butters: Walnuts, almonds, roasted peanuts, peanut butter (smooth and crunchy).
Sweeteners: Honey, maple syrup, granulated sugar.
Preserves and pickles: Fruit jams and preserves, anchovies.
Condiments and sauces: Basic vinaigrette, mustard (yellow or Dijon), mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, salsa, soy sauce.
Produce: Garlic, onions, all-purpose potatoes (such as Yukon Gold), lemons, shelf-stable tofu (Essential for vegetarians, Expanded for others).
Dairy: Eggs, unsalted butter, cheeses (Cheddar, Jack or Colby, Parmesan), milk or cream for cooking (not skim).
Freezer: Chicken parts, sausages, thick fish fillets, shrimp, thick-sliced bread (for toast), spinach (and other vegetables such as corn and peas), berries (and other fruit such as peaches and mango). Some fruits and vegetables take particularly well to freezing — and in most growing seasons, the quality is better than fresh. Frozen fruit is useful for baking and smoothies.
Baking: All-purpose flour, cornmeal, rolled oats, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder, pure vanilla extract, light brown sugar, dark brown sugar, confectioners’ sugar, bittersweet baking chocolate, semisweet chocolate chips, raisins or another dried fruit, cocoa powder. With these ingredients on hand, thousands of cookies, brownies, cakes, muffins, quick breads and other sweets can be produced without a trip to the store.
The Expanded Pantry
For the cook who has a grasp of the basics, but wants to be able to stretch toward new options and flavors. Here, long-lasting, punchy ingredients like tahini, hoisin sauce, coconut milk, sherry vinegar and capers are stocked alongside classics: limes with lemons, jasmine rice as well as long-grain, almond butter in addition to peanut butter.
Oils and vinegars: Peanut oil, coconut oil, sesame oil, sherry or balsamic vinegar, apple-cider vinegar.
Cans and jars: Sardines, unsweetened coconut milk, whole Italian plum tomatoes, beef stock (box-packed tastes better than canned). Whole plum tomatoes are rarely called for in recipes, but they tend to be the ripest and best-quality fruit. They can be diced or crushed to use in a recipe — or drained and slow-roasted for an intense topping on omelets, salads, grain bowls or pizza.
Spices: Flaky salt, single-chile powders (such as ancho and pasilla), ground coriander, turmeric, smoked paprika, cardamom, za’atar, allspice, fennel seeds, dry mustard, garam masala (a basic Indian mix of warm spices), five-spice powder (a basic Chinese mix of spices), whole nutmegs.
Grains and starches: Rice noodles, basmati or jasmine rice, brown rice, panko bread crumbs, dry beans.
Nuts and nut butters: Almond butter, tahini, pecans.
Preserves and pickles: Olives (oil-cured and-or in brine), capers in brine. These ingredients, served with good bread and butter, make an elegant appetizer with wine, or everyday snack.
Condiments and sauces: Worcestershire sauce, hoisin, Thai red curry paste, fish sauce, anchovy paste, harissa.
Produce: Russet potatoes, carrots, celery, limes, ginger, avocados, parsley, cilantro, scallions, jalapeños. Keeping chiles, aromatics and herbs on hand gives you instant access to intensely fresh flavors, even for — maybe especially for — the simplest dishes you cook.
Dairy: Plain full-fat yogurt, more intense cheeses (pecorino, feta), salted butter.
Freezer: Pancetta, artichoke hearts, homemade stock, homemade bread crumbs, fresh pasta, vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, cut and peeled winter squash, chopped onions), cooked grains. Prepared ingredients like chopped onions and cooked grains speed your route to dinner.
Baking: Cake flour, whole-wheat flour, dark baking chocolate, vanilla beans, almond extract, powdered gelatin, molasses, light corn syrup, buttermilk powder, active dry yeast.
The Expert Pantry
For the cook who likes taking global flavors, new methods and viral recipes for a spin. Here, the chiles get hotter, the chocolates darker and the cheeses funkier. These ingredients are just a fraction of what’s out there, but by stocking them, you will be able to cook almost any recipe you come across and experiment with creating your own.
Spices: Hot smoked paprika (pimentón), sumac, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, flaky dried chiles (such as Aleppo, Urfa or Maras), dried whole chiles (like ancho and arból), marjoram, dukkah, baharat, shichimi. Whether you stock spice mixes like baharat (a mix of warm spices used in the Middle East) or shichimi (a Japanese blend of ground chiles and sesame seeds) will depend on the global flavors that most appeal to you.
Grains and starches: Short-grain rice, dried pastas (bucatini, mezzi rigatoni or farfalle), spelt, pearl barley.
Nuts and nut butters: Pine nuts, hazelnuts, pumpkin seeds (pepitas), pistachios. Toasted nuts like these (not as everyday as almond and peanuts) are good in salads and granola, on roasted fish, or just with olives for a classic pre-dinner snack.
Preserves and pickles: Pickled hot peppers, cornichons, kimchi, preserved lemons, roasted chiles, horseradish, caperberries, dried sausages such as saucisson sec and chorizo. The intense flavors of pickled and salted ingredients can be a great pick-me-up for mild dishes. In cooking, you can often substitute a bit of preserved lemon for regular lemon, or use the brine from cornichons as part of the liquid in a recipe.
Condiments and sauces: Gochujang, mango chutney, miso, wasabi, dark soy sauce, Chinese oyster sauce, Asian chili bean pastes.
Produce: Shallots, fresh mint, fresh rosemary, lemongrass, fresh Serrano and Thai bird chiles, fresh bay leaves.
Dairy: Ghee, crème fraîche, aged cheeses (Gruyère, blue cheese). Ghee (Indian-style clarified butter) and crème fraîche can reach much higher temperatures than butter, yogurt and sour cream without burning or breaking, so they are useful in cooking.
Freezer: Edamame, curry leaves, makrut lime leaves, merguez (spicy lamb sausages from North Africa). Fragrant leaves like makrut lime and curry (not the spice mix, but an Indian tree with scented leaves) are much more powerful in frozen form than dried.
Baking: Bread flour, pectin, almond flour, tapioca pearls, rose and orange flower waters, gelatin sheets, black cocoa, currants, fresh yeast, sparkling sugar, pearl sugar, candied citrus rinds
Best Practices
Once you have your ingredients, remember that cooking will always create change and disorder. Cans of tomatoes may never match, spices may never live in matching containers, and your hot sauce collection may always try to take over the condiment shelf. But here are a few final thoughts on how to keep your pantry well stocked and well organized enough to be truly useful.
ORGANIZING TIPS
Cooks with different styles need different systems. Some people store the jam with the dried fruits and maple syrup; others associate it with peanut butter, mustard and mayonnaise. The best logic is your own, and it may take some time to figure that out.
If you can’t see it, you’re probably not going to use it. A storage space with more shelving is the most efficient configuration for ingredients. Drawers or slide-out shelves also help tremendously with visibility.
Store everything you can in clear containers. Airtight plastic ones are best, and available in many shapes, sizes, and systems. Rectangular shapes make the best use of space.
Keep a roll of painter’s tape and some permanent markers in a kitchen drawer. It’ll help you make quick labels.
MAXIMIZING INGREDIENTS
Be realistic about your habits. It’s great to clean and trim a week’s worth of vegetables at once — but if you’re not going to do that, buy smaller quantities.
Buy ground spices in the smallest quantities you can find (except for spices you use regularly). Specialty companies will ship as little as an ounce, about 3 tablespoons. You’ll save space and produce better, brighter flavors in your food.
Buy fresh herbs. Dried herbs used to be a pantry essential, but most start out with very little flavor and lose it quickly in storage. (A couple of exceptions are dried oregano and dried thyme.) Pick up fresh herbs when you need them for a particular recipe; it’s a better investment of money and storage space.
Buy heavy, shelf-stable ingredients like boxed broth and canned tomatoes in bulk; better yet, order them online to save time and irritation. Almost any delivery service or website will offer a better price on these items than a brick-and-mortar store.
Cooked ingredients are much easier to use up than raw ones. Whether you steam, boil, pan-fry or roast, cook anything in your refrigerator that looks tired. You can always use it in a salad, a grain bowl or a pasta.

Black Cumin Seed Oil: Uses & Benefits of this Powerful Medicine
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(FYI-This is a blog I wrote years ago for my friend Sky Kubby's online store/blog "Medicinal Foods" and I just realized I never actually posted the blog on my own blog! I absolutely love Black Cumin Seed oil and believe in its healing powers.... Enjoy!)
Being a native to the Middle East and South West Asia, the cultivation of this Nigella sativa can be traced back over 3, 000 years, to Ancient Egypt. This seed is actually not even related to the “Cumin” seed that we know of, which resembles caraway, so its name can be misleading.
Even the prophet Mohammed proclaimed Black Seed as “a remedy for all diseases except death.” Black Seeds with honey, an ancient recipe, which was found in King Tutankhamen’s tomb, is still used my many people to this day for digestion, respiratory ailments and more.
Black Seeds are used in many dishes in the Middle East, as well as India, yet it is argued by some that the cooking of the seeds may decrease some of the medicinal aspects.  Others believe that the tempering of the spice is what brings out the medicinal qualities.
Consuming the ground up black seeds can be helpful for easing digestive troubles, flatulence, clearing parasites, and have also become an alternative treatment to battling cancer. However, many prefer the oil for economic reasons and wider range of use. Simply, with the oil, you can get more of a potent dose with a smaller amount.
There are so many potential nourishing and restorative qualities of this precious oil, but one needs to know what to look for as the consumer to get a good product.
First of all, be sure the oil you use is cold pressed and organic, to assure the integrity and purity.
Second, due to certain chemical constituents present in the oil, such as the Omega fatty acids, this oil (similarly to flax oil) should not be heated as these constituents can be chemically altered and become disadvantageous to the body.
Third, the proper storage of this oil would be in a dark colored, preferably glass bottle and to keep it cool or refrigerate it, especially after opening. A daily recommended dose is 1 teaspoon of oil, and for more medicinal effects, not around too much food.
It can be taken in capsules, or simply swallowed from a spoon. Using this oil on the skin and hair is deeply nourishing, however the smell is quite strong (in a spicy and savory way) so combining essential oils may help to create a most supreme healing, anointing oil.
Tumblr media
Autoimmune disease and cancer are huge problems in today’s society. Thymoquinone, one of the chemical constituent in Black Seed Oil, is of great interest to scientists, because its been shown to actually kill cancer cells, act as an anti-inflammatory and stimulate Opioid receptors which could help treat or prevent food allergies.
Even the big corporation Nestlé applied for a patent in 2010 which would protect their extraction process and the use of this chemical from Nigella sativa, which expectedly caused mass protest and controversy from upset people who felt a big corporation should not be able to own and control a natural chemical or people’s right to use it.
The knowledge and use of Black Seed Oil is becoming very common these days, just look it up on the internet!
There are oil pulling blends which use this oil , luxurious body washes, and even a “Kardashian Beauty” brand of oil for the hair!
The truth is, this oil alone can be used for a wide range of things, and is revered by the ancient and modern healers and scientists.
Lastly, I'd like to leave the readers with an image of this beautiful flower from which these precious black seeds come from. It may look familiar to you because, perhaps, its relative "Love in a mist" flower is already growing in your garden. If so, why not make some space in there for Nigella sativa too.

Understanding Sinusitis and Ayurvedic Treatment
Are you struggling with sinusitis? You’re not alone. Many people face this uncomfortable condition, but understanding its causes and how Ayurveda can help may provide some much-needed relief.
What is Sinusitis?
Sinusitis is the inflammation of the sinuses—those hollow cavities around your nose and eyes. This inflammation can be triggered by various factors such as infections (bacterial, viral, or fungal), allergies, or exposure to irritants like smoke or chemicals. The main symptoms of sinusitis include:
Facial Pain or Pressure: Often felt around the forehead, cheeks, eyes, or nose.
Nasal Congestion: A blocked nose, making it hard to breathe.
Runny Nose: Persistent mucus that can be thick and discolored.
Reduced Sense of Smell or Taste: Due to inflammation affecting the olfactory senses.
Headache: Usually felt in the forehead or around the eyes.
Fever, Cough, Fatigue, Sore Throat, and Bad Breath: Common with chronic sinusitis.
Dental Pain: Especially in cases involving the maxillary sinuses.
According to Ayurveda, sinusitis is often the result of an imbalance in the Kapha dosha, leading to mucus buildup and inflammation. Ayurvedic treatments focus on restoring this balance and relieving symptoms.
Causes of Sinusitis
Understanding what causes sinusitis can help in both prevention and treatment. Here’s a quick rundown of the common causes:
Infections:
Viral Infections: Often following a cold, leading to inflamed sinuses.
Bacterial Infections: These occur when bacterial growth follows a viral infection or independently.
Fungal Infections: More common in those with weakened immune systems.
Allergies:
Pollen, Dust Mites, and Mold: Common allergens that can trigger sinusitis.
Nasal Polyps and Deviated Septum: Both conditions can block sinus drainage, leading to chronic sinusitis.
Environmental Irritants: Smoke, chemicals, and other pollutants can irritate the sinuses.
Chronic Conditions: Asthma, cystic fibrosis, and immune disorders can increase susceptibility to sinusitis.
Dental Issues: Infections in the upper teeth can sometimes spread to the sinuses.
Symptoms of Sinusitis
Recognizing sinusitis symptoms can help you seek timely treatment. Here’s what to watch out for:
Facial Pain or Pressure: Around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead.
Nasal Congestion and Runny Nose: Difficulty breathing through the nose and persistent mucus.
Reduced Sense of Smell or Taste: Due to blocked nasal passages.
Headache and Fever: Common with severe or acute sinusitis.
Cough, Fatigue, Sore Throat, Bad Breath, and Dental Pain: Other symptoms that can accompany sinusitis.
Preventive Methods and Ayurvedic Treatment for Sinusitis
Preventing sinusitis involves a few simple lifestyle adjustments:
Maintain Good Nasal Hygiene: Use saline irrigation to keep nasal passages clear.
Avoid Allergens and Irritants: Stay away from known triggers like dust, smoke, and pollen.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids to thin mucus and prevent congestion.
Use a Humidifier: Moist air helps prevent sinus irritation.
Practice Good Hygiene: Regular hand washing reduces infection risks.
Manage Allergies and Respiratory Conditions: Proper management helps prevent sinusitis flare-ups.
Ayurvedic Treatments for Sinusitis
Ayurveda provides a holistic approach to treating sinusitis by balancing the body's doshas. Here are some Ayurvedic practices that can help:
Nasya Therapy: This involves applying medicated oils or herbal extracts into the nasal passages to clear congestion and reduce inflammation. Common oils used include Anu Taila and Sesame Oil.
Steam Inhalation: Inhaling steam infused with essential oils like eucalyptus or peppermint helps soothe sinuses and loosen mucus.
Dietary Adjustments: Focus on warm, cooked foods and spices like black pepper, cumin, and coriander to support digestion and reduce mucus buildup.
Abhyanga (Self-Massage): Regular self-massage with warm oils can help improve circulation and reduce sinus pressure.
Pranayama (Breathing Exercises): Breathing exercises like alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana) can improve sinus drainage and reduce stress.

Essential Oils Market Size To Reach $40.12 Billion By 2030
The global essential oils market size is expected to reach USD 40.12 billion by 2030, and expanding at a CAGR of 7.9% from 2024 to 2030, as per the new report by Grand View Research, Inc Key factor contributing to the demand for essential oil is that aromatherapy is rapidly gaining momentum as a convenient method of healing lifestyle diseases. The sales volume of essential oils is rising on the account of the rising consumer awareness related to the wide utilization of the product across various applications.
They are primarily made of terpenes and their oxygenated derivatives which usually include monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, etc. They are present in specialized cells/glands in various plants and the position of these glands varies depending on the morphology, and physiology of the plant. During the manufacturing process, these glands are ruptured by pressing or by application of heat, which emanates aroma.
The product is widely used for enhancement of air freshness at home with the help of aroma diffusers and addition of essential oils in aroma pots. It is added to the water or baths in order to relax muscles and improve the aroma of place. Young women use these products for making homemade cosmetics due to their natural content and medicinal benefits.
Increasing demand for organic products is influencing consumer trends across the globe. Further implementation of regulations favoring the use of environmentally friendly ingredients in cosmetics, and food & beverage industry. The increased the consumer’s interest for products produced from natural ingredients. A majority of the global population are shifting their preference to organic products which in turn is increasing the demand for plant based products, leading to a significant drop in the demand for synthetic fragrances.
Owing to the outbreak of coronavirus around the world, many countries experienced lockdown situations. This had led to major raw material shortages, disruption in the supply chain, and increased prices for highly demanded products for two to three quarters in 2020. Moreover, the restrictions on imports & exports of goods by any means from most of the South East Asian countries further worsened the situation. However, the temporary closure or slowing down of manufacturing plants of synthetic flavors & fragrances in China led to a rise in opportunity for essential oil distillers, as the manufacturers turned to smaller vendors to fulfill their raw material requirements.

In this guide, we'll delve into how black seed oil and black kalonji seeds can significantly boost your health and well-being.
Understanding Black Seed Oil
Black seed oil, also known as black cumin seed oil, is extracted from the seeds of the Nigella sativa plant. Known for its therapeutic qualities, this oil is packed with essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory compounds. Its use dates back over 2,000 years, earning it the reputation of being a remedy for numerous ailments.
Health Benefits of Black Seed Oil and Black Kalonji Seeds
1. Aiding Weight Loss
For those striving to lose weight, black seed oil can be a beneficial addition to your diet. Research indicates that black seed oil can help reduce body weight and waist circumference. It aids in promoting fat loss and improving the body’s lipid profile, making it easier to achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
2. Reducing Uric Acid Levels
Elevated uric acid levels can lead to gout and other inflammatory conditions. Black seed oil has been shown to lower uric acid levels, reducing the risk of gout attacks and enhancing joint health. Its anti-inflammatory properties also help alleviate pain and swelling associated with high uric acid levels.
3. Enhancing Skin Health
Black seed oil is a treasure trove for skincare. Rich in vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids, it serves as an excellent moisturizer and skin rejuvenator. It helps treat various skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis. The oil’s anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties promote faster healing of wounds and scars.
4. Strengthening the Immune System
The immune-boosting properties of black seed oil are well-recognized. It contains thymoquinone, a potent antioxidant that fortifies the immune system. Regular consumption of black seed oil can help protect against infections, reduce inflammation, and enhance the body’s natural defense mechanisms.
5. Promoting Digestive Health
Black seed oil is beneficial for digestive health as well. It improves digestion, reduces bloating, and alleviates symptoms of indigestion. The oil’s antimicrobial properties also combat harmful bacteria in the gut, promoting a healthy balance of gut flora.
6. Supporting Heart Health
Heart disease remains a leading cause of death globally. Black seed oil supports heart health by reducing cholesterol levels, lowering blood pressure, and preventing arterial plaque buildup. Its anti-inflammatory properties also protect the heart from damage caused by chronic inflammation.
7. Improving Respiratory Health
For those with respiratory issues, black seed oil can provide significant relief. It helps reduce symptoms of asthma, bronchitis, and other respiratory conditions. The oil’s anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties help clear airways, reduce mucus production, and enhance overall lung function.
How to Incorporate Black Seed Oil and Black Kalonji Seeds into Your Routine
Integrating black seed oil and black kalonji seeds into your daily regimen is simple. Here are some effective ways to use them:
1. Oral Consumption
Black Seed Oil: Take one teaspoon of black seed oil daily. You can consume it directly or mix it with honey or juice for a more palatable taste.
Black Kalonji Seeds: Add a teaspoon of black kalonji seeds to your meals. Sprinkle them on salads, yogurt, or smoothies, or incorporate them into your cooking.
2. Topical Application
For Skin: Apply a small amount of black seed oil directly to the affected area. Massage it gently into the skin and leave it on for at least 30 minutes before washing it off.
For Hair: Mix black seed oil with a carrier oil like coconut or olive oil. Apply the mixture to your scalp and hair, leave it on for an hour, and then wash it off with a mild shampoo.
Potential Side Effects and Precautions
While black seed oil and black kalonji seeds are generally safe for most individuals, it's important to use them in moderation. Excessive consumption can lead to side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and digestive discomfort. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a healthcare provider before using black seed oil. If you have any underlying health conditions or are taking medication, it's best to seek medical advice before incorporating black seed oil into your routine.
Conclusion
At Natures Black Seed, we champion the power of natural remedies to enhance health and wellness. Black seed oil and black kalonji seeds offer a plethora of benefits, from aiding weight loss and reducing uric acid levels to enhancing skin health and strengthening the immune system.
