“I’m telling you Mey-Rin, Sebastian is not all that. If that were the case then I’d probably be more meticulous with his wants.” [Name] rubs the bridge of their nose while listening to their associate whine about this so called ‘handsome’ butler.

Meanwhile they were still stuck on the fact that they as a human with some peculiar qualities had to be stuck with that man. [Name] dislikes Sebastian, he knows that based on how curt [Name] is with him or how they’ll inadvertently avoid being touched by him.

[Name] would listen to Mey-Rin compliment the tall male, sure his black hair and red eyes were beautiful but want to know what also has those eyes?’: Demons! [Name] just wasn’t having it and the fact that Ciel even ordered them to work with Sebastian was obviously cruel.

‘Master Ciel if this demon kills me, I'm not coming back until I feel he is far away from me.' [Name]’s ability was that they could die and come back, however the only way they’d actually die is through the brain. Luckily no one knew, except the demon, so they can’t trust him.

“My dear please, you work too hard. Here, I’ll handle the rest.”

“I’m alright sir, if you don’t mind opening the door for me please…?”

He chuckles before thinking to himself, without a doubt he held the door, and [Name] was casually carrying the boxes, following them, he grew to admire how easily they go with the flow. Especially with their behavior they display. As they place the boxes down, [Name] starts fixing a few of the materials in the room while Sebastian dusts, wipes and sweeps the room.

At first, [Name] was adamant with the idea of him helping and to be precise he wouldn't comply so [Name] just allowed the demon to invade their space. "[Name] my dear, you've been silent this whole time. Tell me, do you happen to dislike my presence."

"Not really, you're absolutely creepy, you give the vibe that you have ulterior motives. Plus, many women are known to fawn over you. During these past missions together, I've seen your style and I also know you do not find yourself keen with humans."

Sebastian could only close his eyes with a smile, he agreed that his motives were different, but he did intend to serve his master. Even in his past he was known for his intent and died with the said mindset, being called out for it however was amusing. "I guess we both as the supernatural know that humans enjoy the company of something alluring."

"Indeed..."

Continuing with their task they felt him gently brush on their shoulder and [Name] eyes the butler. It was quiet, they enjoyed quiet.

He maybe a demon but he tolerated their existence, and so did [Name]. Not long after they were carefully studying each other's entity being. Sebastian knew he couldn't kill [Name] but to see a being who wasn't attracted, afraid or desiring to kill him. It was rather enjoyable, it felt like a duo pair that understood one another's flaws and motives.

Sebastian not long after was sleeping soundly to conserve his energy, while [Name] stayed awake to crack and pop their bones. "Maybe you aren't so bad.."

As they pop their body to a comfortable standard, the Shikabane Hime lays back to rest their eyes. Feeling the demon hold them close, they return the hug.

(warning: big spoiler for soul eater manga, and me nerding over soul eater)

for those who aren't familiar with soul eater, the series revolve around the story of meister and demon weapon (human who can transform into weapons). The students of of Shibusen, school build by 'shinigami' take on missions to collect souls and protect the city from the world's threats.

The school parted into 2 types of class, N.O.T (Normally Overcome Target, class for those who just want to control their powers, pretty much just like a normal class) and E.A.T (Especially Advantaged Talent, consist of the 10% students in shibusen, class for students/agents who use their powers to battle evil)

-this au sets years after soul eater manga ending, where human and witch can already living side by side

-Morfonia used to be in NOT class, but then she moved to EAT class after reunited in shibusen and being partners with rita (they're childhood friends)

-Suzume supposed to be gira's weapon partner, since the Hastie and Dybowski family been on some kind of..bound? relationship? for a long time. But racles don't want gira to be a meister, so he took both of the dybowski siblings as his weapon (welp, gira still finds jera anyway)

-Top 3 EAT class academical rank: Rita, Himeno, Yanma (it's quite a tie with jeramie sometimes), gira is somewhere in the middle, or below-

-Jeramie is a child of demon weapon and witch, his mom run away from the witch realm because she possesses healing magic, which is unforgivable and hated by the witches

-and jera got his black blood from his mother, who didn't know that she was used to be medusa's (antagonist witch in SE) experiment object. Medusa thought she's a failed object, so she throw nephila out of her object list.

-before Jeramie met Gira, he wonder all over death city to find who killed and ate his parents' soul

-Gira don't really like to live in the Hastie's main mansion , so he rented apartments near shibusen together with Jera after decided to be his Meister. As a condition to allow gira living out of the Hastie household, Racles ask Duuga, the Hastie's butler, to visit gira's place from time to time

-Jeramie had this 'madness of hope' that triggered his black blood

-i'm thinking about 'madness of justice' for gira but 'justice' will suit rita more...

OH ANON YOU BET I DO I HAVE A MILLION OF THEM. I've been super busy so I didn't get the chance to respond to this right away and I am not sure which kind of headcanons you are looking for, so I am going to go with pet headcanons for fun

Kyoya:

Kyoya isn't really an animal person. The Ootori family never had pets in the house, so Kyoya never really grew up with one. It's not that he dislikes them per se, but he never really saw a reason anyone would want or need a pet. They're too much work (even when you have maids and butlers to do the heavy lifting for you).

He's even less inclined to get a pet when Tamaki gets Antoinette, because wow golden retrievers are sweet but have TONS of energy, and that's not really something Kyoya feels he can tolerate.

Of course, that all changes when he gets Noir when he's in Boston. Despite being exasperated with her at times (as all cat parents are), it does bring him solace knowing there is someone there when he gets home...even if he does have to stop her from eating plastic and scratching his leather couch. (He does not succeed at either of these tasks.)

It's been a while since I read the manga so I can't remember if we saw what Noir looks like, but if there's no canon design I am torn between Noir being this beautiful, sleek black cat or being one of those fuzzy voids like this:

Kaoru:

Kaoru loves animals. I like to think he's kind of an animal magnet like a Disney princess and has yet to meet an animal that didn't like him. Even Antoinette seems drawn to him (much to Tamaki's horror).

Though the Hitachiin family never had pets in the house either, Kaoru was always secretly jealous of other children who talked about their various furry and scaly companions. He was probably the one to suggest to Hikaru they go and catch frogs to release in the house, sort of as a way to give them a pet, too (while also causing mayhem for their staff).

When he finds out Kyoya of all people has a cat, he immediately takes it upon himself to spoil her rotten. Noir is constantly fed treats, catnip, played with, etc. when Kaoru visits Kyoya.

Unfortunately, like most cats, they only attach to one person and that person is Kyoya. Kaoru is DEVASTATED that no matter how much he does to earn Noir's affection, all she does is mildly tolerate him.

After he and Kyoya start living together, they finally realize how much Noir loves him the first time he has to go away for New York Fashion Week. Noir is inconsolable (as is Kyoya). She sits on their bed and meows pathetically, only getting up when Kyoya feeds her. Kyoya sends Kaoru pictures of her forlorn looks and Kaoru replies with a slew of crying emojis.

When he finally returns home, Noir goes right back to mildly tolerating him, as if nothing ever happened. (But they all know better now ;) )

Reading black butler again as an adult, I find myself thinking a lot the sexualization of Sebastian and Ciel's relationship. I was expecting to feel disgusted but.... Morals aside, I feel from a narrative standpoint, it actually works?

We all know most sebaciel scenes are fanservice, Yana used to draw yaoi, the anime was sold as "shonen-ai" etc etc It's 2024 there's no point to debate that over and over again.

But is that fanservice unnecesary? At least in the manga, I dont think so. For the better or for the worse, it does serve a purpose. It defines the entire relationship of the main characters.

Just to make it clear, I think their relationship is very sexual, but not in a literal *they have sex* way. Sex is associated with love, intimacy, passion, desire, but also with violence, possesiveness, domination.

You could get rid of all the "weird fanservice", but that would destroy the complexity of their relationship. It would become either a story about two characters that don't care about each other, or a bland "wholesome" one.

Ciel, despite all his trauma, feels comfortable exposing his body to Sebastian. Having physical contact with someone. Showing his vulnerable self, because he's absolutely confident he won't be hurt.

Sebastian is always close to Ciel. Even too close. And the weird way he carries Young Master. It's clearly unappropiate and he doesn't seem to care about boundaries. Because Ciel is what he desires the most, and he *owns* him. Ciel is his treasure, his prize, his most precious possesion. Ciel is *his*. He's always being possesive, showing the world Ciel belongs *only* to him, while also being (somehow) gentle and caring.

(The topic of how Sebastian uses his sexuality as a weapon is pretty interesting as well, but not today!!)

Surprisingly, the fanservice does wonders to develop the duality of their dynamics. It perfectly showcases both the "light" and "dark" between them. Intimacy, healing, confidence absolute trust, caring for each other. Codependency, unhealthy desire, possesiveness, manipulation.

They're two sides of the same coin.

On the other hand, in contrast with Sebastian and Ciel's relationship, I think it's interesting how scenes involving real sex are not sexualized at all??

Sebastian and Beast are both really attractive characters, and they could be used in a more "fanservicey" way. However, their scene together it's short and uncomfortable. The intimacy between them feels fake, everything seems off. Beast doesn't look like he's actually enjoying anything. It's pretty clear she's being abused, and thanks Goodness there's no romantization nor explicit borderline fetish content. Instead, it does a great a job creating a "something is wrong here" atmosphere.

The Blue Memory flashback. It's disgusting and makes me physically ill, but it's able to do so without being explicit. It's really powerful without being morbid. Absolutely no fanservice here. Thanks Goodness again.

Like in real life, in Black Butler sexuality can be a safe place (Ciel and Sebastian), or a source of violence and pain.

Imo Yana is a better writer than you all give her credit for. She may be a shotacon or whatever, but at least she is coherent with the overall tone of her story and can be respectful when it's due. Despite all the fanservice at some points, I feel she's great at knowing when to do or not do it.

At the end of the day, I find fascinating how sex and sexualization are used in Black Butler. Sebastian and Ciel's relationship has nothing to do with sex, yet is so intense that I could argue that rather than being sexualized, their entire relationship is inherently sexual per se. If you remove that element from the equation, the main characters would be so different that the nature of the entire story would change.

The "fanservice" is not only fanservice, but what moves the characters and story foward.

Is it ethical?? That's up to you.

But for me, even if there are some uncomfortable moments, the result is worth it. A relationship so unique that you can't "tag" it. Both unhealthy and abusive, yet a safe place for Ciel to heal. It's problematic on several levels, but *that*is what makes it interesting.

Anyway, it's just fiction, and it's nice to explore different kinds of stories without hurting anyone.

Jester Joseph Hairston (July 9, 1901 – January 18, 2000) was an American composer, songwriter, arranger, choral conductor and actor. He was regarded as a leading expert on black spirituals and choral music. His notable compositions include "Amen," a gospel-tinged theme from the film Lilies of the Field and a 1964 hit for the Impressions, and the Christmas song "Mary's Boy Child."

Hairston was born in Belews Creek, a rural community on the border of Stokes, Forsyth, Rockingham and Guilford counties in North Carolina. His grandparents had been slaves. At an early age, he and his family moved to Homestead, Pennsylvania, just outside Pittsburgh, where he graduated from high school in 1921. Hairston was very young when his father was killed in a job-related accident. Hairston was raised by his grandmother while his mother worked. Hairston heard his grandmother and her friends talking and singing about plantation life and became determined to preserve this history through music.

Hairston initially majored in landscape architecture at Massachusetts Agricultural College in the 1920s. He became involved in various church choirs and choral groups, and accompanist Anna Laura Kidder saw his potential and became his benefactor. Kidder offered Hairston financial assistance to study music at Tufts University. from which he graduated in 1929. He was one of the first black students admitted to Tufts. Later he studied music at the Juilliard School.

Hairston pledged the Chi chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity in 1925. He worked as a choir conductor in the early stages of his career. His work with choirs on Broadway eventually led to singing and acting parts in plays, films, radio programs and television shows.

Hairston sang with the Hall Johnson Choir in Harlem for a time but was nearly fired from the all-black choir because he had difficulty with the rural dialects that were used in some of the songs. He had to shed his Boston accent and relearn the country speech of his parents and grandparents. Johnson had told him: "We're singing ain't and cain't and you're singing shahn't and cahn't and they don't mix in a spiritual." The choir performed in many Broadway shows, including The Green Pastures. In 1936, the choir was asked to visit Hollywood to sing for the film The Green Pastures. Russian composer Dimitri Tiomkin heard Hairston and invited him to what would become a 30-year collaboration in which Hairston arranged and collected music for films. In 1939, Hairston married Margaret Swanigan. He wrote and arranged spirituals for Hollywood films as well as for high school and college choirs around the country.

Hairston wrote the song "Mary's Boy Child" in 1956. He also arranged the song "Amen", which he dubbed for the Sidney Poitier film Lilies of the Field, and arranged traditional Negro spirituals.[16] Most of Hairston's film work was in the field of composing, arranging and choral conducting. He also acted in more than 20 films, mostly in small roles, some uncredited. Hairston starred in John Wayne's The Alamo (1960), in which he portrayed "Jethro," a slave owned by Jim Bowie. In 1962’s To Kill a Mockingbird Hairston portrayed the uncredited role of the father of accused rapist Tom Robinson. In 1967’s In the Heat of the Night, Hairston portrayed the butler of a wealthy racist being investigated for murder. In both films, Hairston shot scenes along side men who won an Academy Award for Best Actor in those respective films for portraying white Southerners navigating their jobs through a racially divided culture.

In 1961, the U.S. State Department appointed Hairston as Goodwill Ambassador. He traveled all over the world teaching and performing the folk music of the slaves. In the 1960s, he held choral festivals with public high-school choirs, introducing them to Negro spiritual music, and sometimes led several hundred students in community performances. His banter about the history of the songs along with his engaging personality and sense of humor endeared him to many students.

During his nationwide travels, Hairston checked local phone books for other Hairstons and reunited many people on his family tree, both black and white. He composed more than 300 spirituals. He was the recipient of many honorary doctorates, including a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts in 1972 and a doctorate in music from Tufts in 1977.

In his later years, Hairston served as a cultural ambassador for American music, traveling to numerous countries with choral groups that he had assembled. In 1985, he took the Jester Hairston Chorale, a multiracial group, to sing in China at a time when foreign visitors would rarely appear there.

Hairston died in Los Angeles of natural causes in 2000 at age 98. For his contribution to the television industry, Hairston has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame located at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard. He is interred at Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, California.

He is most definitely jealous that you would hang around these incompetent fools rather than him (who we all consider an incompetent fool, but moving on). He’s still upset that you turned down his request to make you his second mistress, but your dorm members were on your side and backed you up by pulling up the Queen’s Rules.

It gets to the point where he has half a mind to banish them from the Eastern Empire and force you to become his mistress. However, he knew that both Navier and Rashta would prevent that from happening because the former actually cares about you and the latter would feel that her position is threatened.

This unfortunate Emperor does get a headache because of the ADeuce duo, but it was the first time he was able to see you actually collar someone. Then, the whole thing with Kosair being banished happened, and Sovieshu watched you cry and yell at him for sending away the love of your life. If that wasn’t the verbal equivalent of a slap across the face, I don’t know what is.

So… he lost you to his soon-to-be-former brother-in-law. Your dorm members seemed to support the both of you, and they even started making preparations to leave for the Western Kingdom. However, Navier’s handmaidens left last, and you were one of them.

That meant that he had enough time to try and trap you within the palace walls. Unfortunately for him, you had experience with sneaking out, and you had magic so it really wasn’t that hard. Plus, you had your Heartslabyul comrades, since they hadn’t left yet. So you left behind an Empire and a devastated Emperor.

Rashta 

Ever since she found out that Sovieshu was in love with you, she tried everything to drag your name through the mud. However, your friend Cater, in his short time there, became friends with most of the nobility. Thus, her plans never worked.

But, she could tell that your dorm members were giving the Emperor a headache constantly, so she kind of planted the seed of banishment within his mind. When you found out that he was about to make the executive order, you used your magic to restrain him and the young mistress herself.

Then, Sovieshu banished Kosair. She could tell that you were devastated, and she pretended to be sad for you, but in reality she knew that this was beneficial to her. However, she turned to look at her ‘husband’, and he was sad for you. This really infuriated her because he was supposed to be in love with her… not you.

She couldn’t spend too much time on that matter, as the Emperor and Empress were being divorced soon. You hadn’t moved over to the Western Kingdom yet because Navier still needed you, and she didn’t expect anything to happen. But, before you had the chance to leave with the other handmaidens, you were captured and locked away. Even this was a step too far on Sovieshu’s part.

Fortunately, even though Rashta didn’t do much to help, she did point your dorm members in the right direction. She just wanted you out of the Empire at this point. Once you had escaped, she focused on trying to bring comfort to her new husband so that he may forget about you. It didn’t work, but it’s the thought that counts.

Navier

Upon finding out that you collared both Ace and Deuce, she almost spit out her tea from laughing. She gets along great with Cater and Trey as well, since Cater can easily navigate the social scene and Trey makes her favorite meals when she’s feeling particularly stressed by her husband’s actions.

When she heard that Sovieshu was contemplating banishing your friends, she stepped in and put that thought to rest. To avoid you being worried, she kept it from you. But she did tell you that you might need to reel in your subordinates lest they get into trouble.

However, it seems that His Imperial Majesty is dead set on making both you and her sad and stressed, as he banished Kosair from the Eastern Empire. She went to her garden to take a breather when she saw you in the red rose section crying and holding a hedgehog. She knelt down beside you and pulled you into a comforting hug (lucky reader 😭).

Then, she went through the whole divorce process with Sovieshu, and she had a bad feeling about not sending you ahead of time. You assured her that you would be fine, but you weren’t because when you tried to leave with the other handmaidens, a few guards kept you from leaving. She didn’t hear about this until you told her once you made your great escape and fled to the Western Kingdom.

Speaking of, when you both reunited, she pulled you into a tight hug, then she moved on to greeting the rest of Heartslabyul. During the whole sending-off ceremony for the knights, she watched with a small smile as you placed a kiss on her brother’s cheek as a farewell. Truly, you both were made for each other, according to Navier.

Heinrey

He was a bit concerned when he saw that some of the Heartslabyul members had collars about their necks, but Navier told him what happened. Bro made a mental note to not get on your bad side. Still, the whole situation was quite hilarious to him.

Through one of the Empress’s letters to him, he learned that the Emperor was thinking about kicking your friends out of the Empire to back you up into the corner of mistresshood so you wouldn’t be able to escape. As a result, he made preparations in the Western Kingdom to ensure that he would be ready to receive them.

However, he didn’t expect to receive Kosair instead. Heinrey could tell that the man was stressed and worried about you, mainly because you were still in the Eastern Empire, which was ruled by a man who was deeply in love with you. The bird-man understood perfectly, because he constantly worried about Navier

But, you arrived in the Western Kingdom along with your Heartslabyul comrades as well as Navier’s other handmaidens. Upon seeing each other, you both gave each other a hug. You two were friends, as you helped him win the heart and hand of his Queen, so yeah.

Ever since then, business carried on as usual. You were still a handmaiden to Navier, you still collared Ace and Deuce, Cater got along well with the noble families due to his social skills, and he found a new companion in Trey. The two loved to bake, so that’s where it came from.

Kosair

Not going to lie, he was definitely jealous at the sight of you hanging around four men that he did not know. But he got to know them, and he and Trey got along the most. He absolutely despises Ace and Deuce because they are infuriating, and he’s kind of indifferent towards Cater. And we all know that he loves you.

He was the one you went to when you found out that Sovieshu was thinking about banishing your dorm because they were the last line of defense you had to not become his mistress. That’s when Kosair took a deep breath and pulled out a ring from his pocket. He wishes he could have proposed to you under better and more romantic circumstances, but now you had an indisputable reason to not become the Emperor’s second mistress.

Things kind of went downhill when Kosair got banished. You both wrote letters to each other, and you were glad to see that Heinrey allowed him to take up residence in the Western Kingdom. But what you didn’t know is that the man laid awake at night because he’s so scared about what could become of you in his absence.

Then, once you both were reunited, he just about dipped you down and kissed you passionately on the wharf. Your dorm members let out a few gasps, but Cater let out a cheer and Ace let out a loud whistle. Just wait… this happy moment isn’t going to last long once you tell Kosair that Sovieshu tried to keep you trapped in the Eastern Empire. But that’s for a later time.

Your wedding was absolutely beautiful. Trey walked you down the aisle, and Kosair teared up. You looked just like a dream. There were red roses occupying a lot of the space. Once the officiant said ‘you may kiss the bride’, this man wasted absolutely no time. Ever since you accepted his proposal, he has been waiting for this day.

2/21: I was having a difficult time trying to figure out how to do chapter 3, seeing that the original 2 chapters were a bit ooc. I just tweaked the plots in the original two chapters a bit.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our show." The ringmaster's presence caught everyone's attention. He spoke, his voice echoing throughout the opera house as he introduced himself and gave his greeting.

The ringleader Lyney, and his sibling Lynette were known throughout Fontaine for their magician acts. The eldest often drew in audience members with his charm, while his siblings drew in others from their small disappearing acts.

Usually, these types of shows are not your forte, and you would avoid them.

Performances such as those of the twins, have a high probability of going wrong. Unfortunately for you, your job requires your attendance here.

Pulling out your notepad and pen, you prepare for the performance.

"Today we have quite the act in store for you." He eyes the audience, stopping briefly to make eye contact.

He gives a small smirk before addressing the audience once more. You blink at him, confused, before going back to your notes.

"Starting off, we have the beautiful Lynette on the tightrope. Will she make it to the other side?" Lyney's eyes sparkle with excitement as he gestures towards the spotlight, illuminating the tightrope.

The audience holds its breath as they wait impatiently to see Lynette's daring display of grace and balance. Your mouth drops while watching her performance. The report given to you mentioned there being a new act; you have yet to see it, however.

Charlotte, a manager of yours, assigned you to attend one of the siblings shows. It was her job to attend; however, due to her reputation for her "unique" writing style, Lyney has always denied her an interview. When she heard that they were performing a new act, she turned to her last hope for the information, which was you.

"There's a new act that they're putting on." Charlotte said, handing you the flyer.

The article mentioned a new act they were putting on, and renovations that was being made to the Opera Eclaisse.

"They do the same tricks every show; what am I going to write on it?"

"Try finding more information on them, like interviewing them per se." She holds her notebook, pointing the pen in your direction.

The cheers from the crowd broke you from your thoughts. Lynette waved down to the crowd almost robotically as she was given a round of applause.

You note that down on the paper. Rolling your eyes, you tap against the paper, hoping this will be over soon. This was just their normal routine; why would there be a new act if they're doing the same thing? You let out a huff as Lyney walks back on stage.

Lyney staggers slightly towards the middle of the room.

The next act reveals a water escape tank. You eye the act, writing it down on your notes. Finally, something interesting instead of a boring acrobatic routine.

A second assistant you've never heard of walks onto the stage, walking towards the tank. Once he was at the top, Lyney begins a countdown. At 1, the assistant drops into the cage as the time begins shortly after.

The young man wildly looks around, trying to navigate the key. Drool from crocodiles fell into the water as he tried to locate the key.

The timer drops from 2:45 to 1:59, still not key insight.

You continue watching, engrossed in the act, with your article forgotten.

The time keeps trickling down as the assistant looks for the key.

Eyes focus on leaning forward as the audience tries to look around, signaling a clue for him.

10 seconds near the end, he finds the key by slowly unlocking the chains, forgetting the impending death that awaits him.

8. Children begin yelling frantically, telling him to hurry up.

7.. The adults begin talking among themselves, a bit concerned at how long it's taking him to get out of the water tank.

6, He has the key inserted into the other leg chain, slowly getting it from around his leg.

The crowd began to get up, with some running to get help while others try to approach the center stage.

" Ladies and gentlemen, I assure you, my assistant Freminet will be alright." Lyney tries to de-escalate the situation from becoming worse.

The timer dings, and crocodiles drop into the tank as people begin to rush down the stairs. Some run around trying to break the glass to get him out. Lyney stares blankly at the situation, almost as if his assistant wasn't harmed at all.

His youngest assistant approached from behind, unscathed. The crowd looked on in shock before clapping. The assistant nodded and bowed before running back off stage.

"Ladies and gentlemen, he did it. Give him a round of applause!"

Heartily clapping echoes through the opera house. Parents who were yelling retake their seats. Once everyone was reseated, he called upon his final act.

"For my final act, I need an audience member, please." Hands hesitantly went up. Lyney looks through them, shaking his head.

"No, sorry kids, I need someone a bit older. Maestro, please pick someone from the light."

The lights within the tent go black. A spotlight shines through the crowd, landing directly on you. Everyone glances in your direction as you turn around.

Clearly, he must mean behind  me.

 You check behind you, unfortunately, to see no one.

"You with the Steambird badge." Everyone stops staring in your direction. Slowly, you make your way up the stairs, stopping next to him.

You look at the crowd nervously as they clap politely. The blonde, noticing the tension, puts a hand on your shoulder.

"You'll do fine, it's nothing bad." He whispers, giving a small smile.

He leads you to a knife throwing wall from the side of the stage. You side eye him and the wall. The indentations look recent and almost concerning, given the giant tear in it. To be honest, it worries you about how the act will go.

“Please stand back.” He gently straps you into the chains, so you don’t fall. He gives it a small spin, leaving you upside down.

“Ladies and gentlemen! Please welcome back Lady Lynette to the stage.” The cloud cheers as a younger girl walks onto the stage with a box in hand.

He leaves her view, allowing a clear position to throw the knives.

Internally, you were panicking, you were supposed to write an article, not join the act.

The world starts to spin as a knife wedges itself next to your face. You look up in shock, seeing Lynette throw each one neatly near your limbs. The crowd gasps at seeing the last one in her hand.

Nervously, you eye her, hoping she doesn’t miss. The wheel turns three times before the dagger wedges itself between your bang and your ear. The crowd gives a cheer as Lynette takes a bow.

“Wasn’t she amazing?” Lyney cheerfully greets the audience.

The audience erupts into applause, their excitement evident as they cheer for the incredible display of skill and bravery.

As you join Lyney on stage, you feel a bit shy about getting attention. A gloved hand grabs yours, dragging you down into a bow as the cheers continue.

"We'll see you next time." Lyney, Lynette, and you exit the side stage, going towards the backrooms of the opera house.

The siblings led you to a room where Freminet was waiting for them. He noticed you enter before briefly leaving the room.

"Are you here for an interview about the incident?" He brings out a chair for you to sit in. You take a seat while he settles into the opposite chair.

"Go right ahead." You take out a notebook and a pen.

"Can you please tell me about the incident and the new act?" He nods and begins to explain the incident.

The cannon apparently malfunctioned, which is why he was shot through the air so high.

"Was there anything else?" He gave a right smile allowing you to continue.

You nod, asking more of the questions Charlotte provided you. Before proceeding, he let out a tiny sigh of what you thought was irritation. Did he know that she sent you to interview in her place?

Halfway through a question, Freminet returns through the doorway, glancing at you before taking a seat. You stare at the blonde boy curiously, as the person you interview interrupts.

"Oh, I'm sorry; it appears that we have run out of time." He returns his gaze to you after a brief peek at the younger boy.

"Oh, we have." You check the time, seeing that it's gotten a little late. Lyney stands, guiding you to the door. You look at the scenery backstage as you make your way to the stage exit. The props that he used were sitting by some of the stage doors.

"Did you enjoy the performance?" He gives you one of his charming smiles as he pulls out a small rainbow rose from his hat. You take it as you give him a slight nod.

"That's good, you seemed nervous when the performance began. I thought that your job traumatized you by forcing you to be here." You freeze as he smiles cheekily, hitting the nail on the head.

"It's not that. It's that, uhm," you cut off as he lets out a laugh. He glances towards you unphased by the rude comment that you left.

"I know not everyone likes my performances; too many bad things can happen. Especially with the disappearing acts and the girls from Fontaine going missing." You walk in sync with him almost calmly now. His demeanor calms your nerves.

Opening the door, the cold night air pricks your skin.

"It's been a pleasure." He gives you a small bow as you pass him towards the exit.

"Thank you, M. Lyney." He gives another smile as he closes the door to the Opera Eclaisse.
