Personal headcanon that although both Portugal and Spain were extremely good navigators, and both pretty knowledgeable of astronomy and sky mapping (there's a reason Portugal has an armillary sphere in its coat of arms) Portugal excells at shipbuilding and cartography, whereas Spain excells at "reading" the winds and ocean currents, and is generally pretty good with orientation, which is what allowed him to succeed in open sea navigation, while Portuguese sailors usually pioneered in navigation dicoveries but rarely ventured too far from the coastline. Summing up, while Portuguese navigators were innovators who laid the groundwork for long-distance exploration with excellent ships and detailed maps, the Spanish might have perfected ocean navigation through their ability to harness natural forces like the winds and currents, allowing them to excel in open-sea voyages and global expeditions, thus my hc for these two.

Rain

Every time she goes back to that wet pavement. "He won't like it," Mylo's voice sneers, almost joyful in the taunt. Jinx grits her teeth. She lifts the soldering iron from the metal, keen not to destroy the shell of the bomb she had been working on for the past week. "How would you know?" She bites back, taking the bait. Silco would be disappointed. "You haven't even met him." There's a silence for a while- at least, in her mind. The music still blares, speakers shaking as it produces a sound that can't be good for her ears. Her mind replays Mylo's words over and over. He won't like it. But, he would though, wouldn't he? He had liked the last one, seemed pleased when that...machine he brought down hadn't exploded. Why wouldn't he like this one? It's her best one yet. Her hands shake so bad that she loses her grip on the iron. It goes straight onto the skin of her palm, before her body gets the message of heat heat pain- and launches into action. The sound of the mirror cracking is what Jinx registers first, before she realizes she's even thrown the iron. It's hit the mirror like an arrow, sticking straight out, the smell of the wood burning behind it a reminder of where she is. Her other hand grips the burned one like that will help it hurt any less. Kicking the stool away from her, she walks away from her desk- the shell of the bomb forgotten, and Mylo's words ringing in her head.
