wig: CHEAP lace front from some beauty store clearance bin in DC, styled to hell and back

horns: made by meeee (model magic + modge podge/plaster outrecoat bcs model magic cracks like a bitch, i only use the low tier acrylics bcs who the fuck is gonna pay 20$ for a tube of something u can just layer a few times to get opaque)

armsocks: welovecolors (spraypainted w white cos i bought the dark gray instead if light gray like a dumbass, heavily abused). i highly reccomend welovecolors seamless armsock/seamless bodysuit line im trying to get their bodysuit at some point. expensive (45$ for the socks, 90$ for the bodysuit) but worth it bcos homemade armsocks rip stupid easily and id rather break my skull than paint my hands.

how to dress like you’re homeless (grunge/cryptidcore/ sid jenkins core)

this is how i dress so believe me i am an expert

1. have hair that isn’t long or short, somewhere in the middle. like it doesn’t quite touch your shoulders but it’s not a typical “short haircut”. color doesn’t matter.

2. next, buy band tees, bonus points if they’re oversized. and try to stick with darker colors. you don’t even have to listen to the band. If someone calls you a poser, flip them off.

3. you can’t have body image issues if you never look at your body. add some baggy jeans or cargos. maybe hippie pants or harem pants for a summery look. if you’re more of a fem person then wear a maxi or midi skirt. if it’s hot out put on jorts or baggy men’s cargo shorts (regardless of gender).

4. for accessories don’t put on too many. i usually stick with one or two necklaces and maybe some silver rings (i have fat fingers tho so it’s hard to find rings that fit). if you want to wear a hat you can wear a beanie or trapper hat.

5. pick from the holy trinity of shoes. doc martens, converse, or vans. if you can’t afford any of those, look for knockoffs or buy boots from the thrift/goodwill bins.

6. layer a lot of clothes, i like wearing long sleeves/turtlenecks under short sleeves tees but you can layer with other things like zip ups, flannels, or hoodies

7. to wear over shirts try zip up hoodies, flannels, sweatshirts, cardigans, leather jackets, or black denim jackets.

8. you can find these things from a variety of places. band tees can be purchased on amazon or really anywhere online. jeans i would recommend brands like jnco. cargos can be found almost anywhere. if you can’t find baggy pants buy ones that are too big and wear a belt or tie them with a shoelace. accessories can be found in lots of places but try thrift/vintage stores, see if you can get anything vintage from family, online stores, small businesses, etsy, etc. i buy my shoes online but you can check in stores near you.

The Black Widow, laced with gold

This took me over three days to make, most of the time being consumed by the lace and the gold, and I need you to know my creative process.

First of all though, her full name. This is...

Dracule Aurelia!

Yes, she's married to Dracule "Hawk Eyes" Mihawk, World's Greatest Swordsman. Her parents are Silvers Rayleigh and Shakuyaku/Shakky.

NOW, for the details, which will have spoilers spelled like this. I'll be going top left to bottom right:

Her nail polish is a very similar shade to the lining of her coat and her collar. The ring on her pinky finger is the shape of a snake as a reference to her mother being from the Kuja tribe of Amazon Lily and her dearest friend being the ruler of said island, Boa Hancock.

The barrette/hairclip is inspired by the Roaring 20s and their feather headbands. The design of the barrette itself is inspired by Mihawk as well as some hints of vintage upper-class jewelry. The flower on the oval part is one I took from the sleeves of his coat, the feathers are a reference to the feathers on his hat (they're even on the same side) and the cross is a reference to the little cross-shaped dagger around his neck.

The petals on the sleeves of her coat are inspired by the tops Hancock wears, which often have a very similar sleeve design.

The collar of her coat is inspired by both the collar on Mihawk's coat and the collar of a shirt Rayleigh wore when he was younger. The flower at the right edge and the straight frame along the hem both stem directly from Mihawk's coat, the rest of the design is either free-styled or from Rayleigh's shirt. The spider could be a reference to Aurelia's epithet but is actually a reference to the spider motif of her mother.

A small cross necklace as a direct parallel to Mihawk's cross-shaped dagger, as well as a gold body chain.

Ah yes, the dagger. I used to call it "Mini-Yoru" while developing the design, because Mihawk's sword Yoru was the biggest inspiration. Just like Yoru, it's cross-shaped, has a blue gem in the middle of the crossguard and a pommel with a gem at the end. The pommel, in this case, is a spider encased in amber. The dagger's name is Atropos and it was originally a gift from Aurelia to Mihawk because he was getting bored of beating everyone with his big sword and needed a challenge. He used it almost religiously from then on, and gave it back to Aurelia along with the sheath for their anniversary when it had turned into a black blade. The sheath has a snake motif as explained above. I really liked the idea of a lace garter doubling as a holster, so I made exactly that.

The claws, aka the thing that took me the longest to make by far. They're made of pure gold cages with a sharp, solid tip that can slit someone's throat. The wedding ring that Mihawk is fitted to the claw armor on her ring finger and the blue gem is the same color as the one on the crossguard of the dagger. The bracelet attached to the claws has Aurelia's name engraved into it.

“I’m okay, Dad.”

Remembering this now, participating as an observer, Keith remembers how his dad kept cool. The way he didn’t try to make Keith feel bad, or stupid, and didn’t want to scare him. How he rushed Keith to the car while he called his firehouse on his phone.

“Meet us halfway?” he was asking, and telling them to make sure they had the anti-venom kit. He lifted Keith up into the passenger seat and shut the door, but Keith could hear him as he came around to get into the driver side. No siren, I don’t want to scare him. Bring the kit.

He kept sipping his juice box, shrugging every time his dad asked him if he was sure he was okay. He kept poking at the bite wound on his leg, and his dad kept telling him to stop touching it. 

“You feeling okay?” He’d ask. “Are you sure it was a rattlesnake?”

“It rattled, Dad. I know what a rattlesnake is.”

my keyboard is complete! words cannot express how much i love this keyboard. i spent so much time thinking about what kind of pcb (body) i wanted, what switches i wanted, and what keycaps i wanted. i even asked for your help! i knew i wanted the body of my keyboard to be aluminum... and it is heavy... and i keep forgetting just HOW heavy it is. i now understand why changbin was lifting felix's keyboard now lol.

anyway, below i will have some pictures and some explanations about the keyboard and how i built it. it's okay if you don't care about any of the details and just look at the pictures lol

onto the build! i'll link everything i used in case you're interested!

for my pcb i have the Keychron Q1 Pro, in black. you can also get this pcb in white or silver. i spent a lot of time looking for a keyboard that would be mac friendly. the GMMK Pro that i was originally looking at, some of the reviews said that the mac settings didn't work that well, even with the proper software. so i went with Keychron, bc i know their keyboards are formatted to play nice with macs. i should also mention that my keyboard is hot-swappable. which means that the switches are not soldered into my pcb. if you want to get a mechanical keyboard and make changes to it, make sure it says, "hot-swappable." also my keyboard has a knob! bc why not, knobs are fun and my knob controls the volume! there is a program that you can use with Keychron to program the knob to do whatever you want it to do. but i like that it controls the volume, there's a satisfying "click" for each turn.

the keycaps are also Keychron. it took me a while to even get to the keycaps. there are too many options for keycaps out there, so be careful! you could end up with too many options like i did 😅 so, i know that in my poll, the dark keys with cmyk text won, but they are out of stock and i wasn't able to find them in the Keychron amazon storefront. i was going to go with the winner between the Akko keycaps... but they tied. so i asked GBF to pick and he chose the cyan and black. but when i was looking at the Keychron amazon storefront, i found an option that was slightly cheaper than the Akkos. but i also chose the Keychron ones bc like i said, Keychron plays nice with macs and had the "command" and "option" keys i would need.

next, switches! in a mechanical keyboard, switches are what make the keys work. in a regular keyboard (or a membrane keyboard), there's a membrane (sometimes it's silicone) that sits between the keys and the board and sends a signal when you press a key. same thing in a mechanical keyboard, except each switch operates on its own. so if a key stops working, you can simply pull the switch out and replace it with a new one! anyway, my switches happen to be mint. did i buy them bc they were mint? no. am i kind of happy that they're mint? yes. i bought them bc they're quite tactile switches. tactile means there's a little bump when the key is fully pressed to let you know that you've hit the key. i've had trouble with linear switches being too sensitive in the past. i ended up getting Durock shrimps! what a cute name lol and i might buy more to put them into my work keyboard...

onto placing keycaps! originally i was going to put o-rings on my keycaps to prevent any more noise, but my switches are already so quiet that it wasn't really necessary. but i also did a typing test and the o-rings actually added too much bulk and didn't allow the switch to fully descend when the key was pressed. so i took them out.

but here is my keyboard fully assembled! the rgb is so pretty too. even though i can't see it through my keycaps, it's still lovely. and the beauty of my keyboard is that i can change the keycaps whenever i want. so if i ever get bored of this lovely, black, mint, and gray combo or those dark keycaps with cmyk text come back in stock, i can always change them!

okay, i know that was a lot and again, it's totally okay if you didn't read any of it and just looked at the pictures 😂 also, my monitor stand came as well, i mentioned that earlier. but it looks so good! my desk looks so organized now! and the only thing missing from my setup is my imac now!
