A Traitor Cannot Know: BJPs Sharp Attack On Rahul Gandhi Over RSS Remark
Last Updated: September 09, 2024, 10:56 IST Union Minister Giriraj Singh and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi Addressing the Indian diaspora in Texas, Gandhi said that RSS believes in one idea of India, whereas, the Congress believes it to be a multiplicity of ideas. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday launched a blistering attack on Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his controversial remark on RSS, saying that he goes abroad only to defame India. Union Minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh said, “If there is any technology to go to his grandmother and ask her about the role of RSS, then go and ask or look in the pages of history. To know about RSS, Rahul Gandhi will have to take many births. A traitor cannot know RSS.”  “Those who go abroad and criticize the country cannot know RSS. It seems that Rahul Gandhi goes abroad only to defame India. Rahul Gandhi will not be able to understand RSS in this birth. RSS is born from the values and culture of India,” he added.  Addressing the Indian diaspora in Texas, US, Gandhi remarked that RSS believes in one idea of India, whereas, the Congress party believes it to be a multiplicity of ideas. “The RSS believes that India is one idea and we believe that India is a multiplicity of ideas. We believe that everybody should be allowed to participate, allowed to dream, and should be given space regardless of their caste, language, religion, tradition, or history,” he said. #WATCH | Texas, USA: Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi says, “The RSS believes that India is one idea and we believe that India is a multiplicity of ideas. We believe that everybody should be allowed to participate, allowed to dream, and should be given space regardless… pic.twitter.com/uHULrGwa6X— ANI (@ANI) September 9, 2024 Gandhi further stepped up the attack by saying that this fight (against the BJP and RSS) was crystallized in the Lok Sabha election when millions of people in India clearly understood that the ‘Prime Minister of India was attacking the Constitution of India.’ He also spoke on how he had described ‘Abhayamudra’ in his first address to parliament and the BJP could not stand it. He noted that Abhayamudra is a symbol of fearlessness and added that it exists in every Indian religion. Recalling his first speech in parliament, he said, “That is why in my first speech in Parliament, you must have noticed when I described Abhayamudra this, the fact that this is a symbol of fearlessness and it is present in every single Indian religion. You go on the internet and you can see every single Indian religion. Guru Nanak holds his hand like this. Shiva holds his hand like this. In every single Indian religion, the hand is like this, it is a symbol of fearlessness and when I was saying this, the BJP could not stand it, they don’t understand it and we are going to make them understand.” (With agency inputs…) Source link via The Novum Times

PM Modi signals continuity in portfolio allocation, reposes trust in old team as many of them retain departments
Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent out a message of continuity by retaining his top lieutenants in key Ministries while allocating portfolios to his Council of Ministers on June 10.
Tumblr media
The four big Ministries that are part of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) — a key body within the Union Cabinet — saw the return of all the Ministers with Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman and S. Jaishankar retaining the portfolios of Home, Defence, Finance, and External Affairs respectively.
Mr. Modi, who now needs the support of allies to lead the latest National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, also left key infrastructure Ministries largely unchanged. Nitin Gadkari retained Road Transport and Highways, Sarbananda Sonowal retaining Shipping and Ports, and Ashwini Vaishnaw keeping Railways, along with Information Technology and Information and Broadcasting. Jyotiraditya Scindia seems to have received a leg-up by securing the Telecom Ministry, another key infrastructure portfolio. Only Aviation saw a change, and was handed to Ram Mohan Naidu of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), a portfolio that had been with his party in the first Modi government, when Ashok Gajapati Raju had held the Ministry.
Team NDA 3.0
Prime minister holds all important policy issues and all other portfolios not allocated to any minister.
Former Chief Ministers who were newly sworn in as Ministers were also given key Ministries. Former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar got the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry on a day when Mr. Modi’s first Cabinet meeting with his new team cleared a proposal for building three crore houses in urban and rural areas under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY). Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan received charge of the crucial Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, a reflection of the fact that under his tenure as CM, wheat production, especially that of the famous Sharbati wheat, had broken all records.
At a time when calls for a caste census are being raised both from outside and within the NDA government, Virender Kumar has been retained with the Social Justice portfolio.
Interestingly, with the Lok Sabha seeing a far bigger contingent of Opposition MPs, Arunachal Pradesh MP Kiren Rijiju has been made Minister for Parliamentary Affairs as he is seen to be affable and shares a good rapport across the political spectrum. Mr. Rijiju being a Buddhist has been given charge of the Minority Affairs Ministry.
Even with allies, allocations have followed a pattern of continuity, with Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan’ holding the portfolio of Panchayati Raj, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, earlier held by Giriraj Singh, who is a BJP MP from the same State of Bihar. H.D. Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal (S) got the portfolio of Heavy Industries and Steel, which was held by the Shiv Sena before they parted ways with the BJP. Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi is Cabinet Minister for Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs). Chirag Paswan holds the Food Processing Ministry which was earlier held by his father, the late Ram Vilas Paswan.
Among Ministers from the BJP’s stable, C.R. Paatil got the crucial Ministry of Jal Shakti, a flagship post where close rapport with Mr. Modi is a key factor. Dharmendra Pradhan retained Education, Arjun Ram Meghwal retained Law while Pralhad Joshi moved to Food, Civil Supplies and Renewable Energy.
In all, the overarching message from the portfolio allocation effected by Mr. Modi seems to be that while his party’s numbers had reduced, he does not hold it against his ministerial colleagues, putting out a business-as-usual vibe as he embarks on his third-successive term.

‘You were on vacation then’: Amit Shah slams Rahul Gandhi for fisheries ministry remark
Tumblr media
NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday attacked Rahul Gandhi for his comments on the fisheries ministry, saying the Congress leader does not know that a department of fisheries has been in existence since 2019. While addressing a rally in Puducherry‘s Karaikal, Shah said, “Some days ago, Rahul Gandhi had asked why there is no fisheries department. I want to know from people whether they want a leader who doesn’t know that Department of Fisheries has been in existence for 2 years.” He took a swipe at the Wayanad MP saying “you were on vacation (then).” Rahul Gandhi had earlier demanded the setting up of a separate ministry for fisheries at a meeting in Puducherry and had promised doing so if his party comes to power at Centre. He was slammed for his comments by PM Modi, Giriraj Singh, Smriti Irani and other BJP leaders. In a clarification on his comment, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi later on Thursday tweeted “Fisherfolk need an independent fisheries ministry and not just a department within a ministry.” Lambasting the erstwhile Congress government in Puducherry, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday alleged V Narayansamy, who headed it, gave “cut money” to the “Gandhi family” from Rs 15,000 crore Central funds. Amit Shah also slammed the previous Puducherry government for the rising unemployment, saying the NDA government will reduce the unemployment rate to less than 40% if voted to power. “About 75% of Puducherry youth is unemployed. If you vote for NDA government, we will reduce the unemployment rate to less than 40%,” said Shah. (With inputs from agencies)

Babri Masjid demolition case: Deliver verdict by August 31, SC tells CBI court
Tumblr media
Among the 32 people facing trial in the case are veteran BJP leaders Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh and former Union minister Uma Bharti, and sitting MPs Brij Bhushan Singh and Sakshi Maharaj. The Supreme Court Friday extended the deadline for a special CBI court in Lucknow till August 31, 2020 to deliver the verdict in the Babri Masjid demolition case, in which senior leaders of the BJP and VHP are accused. A bench comprising Justices R F Nariman and Surya Kant observed that the trial court judge should use video conferencing facilities to complete the proceedings. The apex court said that the trial judge should ensure that the present deadline is “no longer breached”, Live Law reported. After the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992, two cases were filed in Ayodhya — one related to the conspiracy of demolishing of Babri Masjid and another for instigating the crowd to demolish the structure. Around 47 more cases were lodged then that were merged with the case of demolition. The trial in the two cases was held separately. The one in Lucknow court on charges of conspiracy of the demolition of the structure, and the other in Rae Bareli court for instigating the crowd to demolish the structure. Of the 22 persons, who were facing trial in the Lucknow court, one has died. The prominent persons among the remaining 21 accused are Pawan Pandey, Brij Bhushan Singh, R N Srivastava, Lallu Singh and Sakshi Maharaj. R N Srivastava was then District Magistrate of Faizabad. In Rae Bareli court, six were facing trial after the death of two accused — Acharya Giriraj Kishore and Ashok Singhal. VHP leader VH Dalmia, an accused in the Rae Bareli case, died last year, following which five accused were left that include Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Vinay Katiyar, Ritambhara and Uma Bharti. On April 19, 2017, the Supreme Court ordered the clubbing of the two pending cases and set up a Special Court (Ayodhya Prakaran) in Lucknow to conclude the hearing. The top court had also ordered the restoration of charges against 13 accused, who were dropped from the case by the High Court earlier. Seven of the total 13 accused have died, including BJP leader and former MP Baikunth Lal Sharma. Six persons who are now facing trial are Ram Vilas Vedanti, Champat Rai, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Mahant Dharam Das, Satish Pradhan and the then UP CM Kalyan Singh. The Supreme Court also ordered adding of criminal conspiracy charge (IPC Section 120B) against the accused facing trial in Rae Bareli. Meanwhile, Kalyan Singh, who had immunity as the Governor of Rajasthan, appeared before the special trial court in September last year after his term ended. He is currently on bail.
