More home-cooked dishes from mum to show you. I ever asked mum why she never do steamed fish. She replied that she like the crispiness of the fish skin. So for my economy rice takeaways, I often pick steamed or non-fried fish. Anyway, here is mum’s crispy Fried Red Snapper Steaks. I love this Bitter Gourd Stir-Fry with plenty of eggs and minced pork. There is also some leftover braised pork trotter from last night to go with the fluffy rice.

hello hello! hope you're doing well! :)))

a fun lil question: what's a plant in your garden that you're currently really proud of? mine are my zinnias and my outdoor begonias!! 🌿

my garden is really barebones at the moment heading into late summer, my peppers are still doing well but that's about it-

But this Bitter Melon I planted betwixt the zinnis is doing really well and I should be able to try it soon!

Australian called it Barramundi (Lates calcarifer) but locally, it is known as (Asian) Sea Bass (金目鲈). Again, mum chose to deep-fry it which isn’t bad but we do wish she had steamed it instead. The next dish is Bitter Gourd Stir-Fry with eggs, prawns and minced pork.

Mum also like to buy Fishcakes (鱼饼) to fry them though sis doesn’t really fancy it. There you have it, two fish and a vegetable dish with prawns for a seafood dinner. I love the bitter gourd as mum prepared it by sprinkling salt on the sliced gourd then squeezing out some of the bitter juice before cooking it.
