I made this BitStrip back in 2013 and yet somehow it actually feels more relevant to the 2020s.

Wanna try the bitstrip? COMICS!
Childhood vs. Adulthood
Childhood can be glorified as the golden time in many minds filled with innocence, marvel and a fun-loving attitude. It is a time of discovery, fantasy and opportunity. However, as we grow older, childhood is left in the past and life steps into picture. Sure, with adulthood comes limitations and challenges — but it also brings unparalleled opportunities for joy, fulfillment and self-expansion.
One of the things I love most about being an adult is that we get to do whatever it is in life that interests us. At any age, people have the power to pick their own way — unlike children who are restricted by parental ambitions or lack of means. Again, if you've got visions of taking on a personal project like art as your pastime or trying to travel more often (hello adulthood trips), doing this will be part and parcel Your youth home is where all-purpose — including starting business whether small/medium without an “Adult” from the Commune guiding one through; adulting provide opportunity for fulfillment with total autonomy.

I thought I had posted this here before but I guess I never did. I made this during Bitstrips and Cartoon Network's "Stop Bullying" campaign in 2011-12. Miraculously, this was actually featured in the site's gallery despite the teacher collapsing in the back.
Also uhh, I made a whole bunch of other Bitstrips bully comics on my old side blog here if you're into that. I miss that site so much.

OC in Fifteen
Thanks to both @drabbleitout and @pertinax--loculos for tagging me, this is neat! Because I was tagged twice, I will participate with two characters (Ben and Reagan across the Partners "series"*), totaling in thirty quotes.
Rules: Share 15 or fewer lines of dialogue from an OC, ideally lines that capture the character/personality/vibe of the OC. Bonus points for just using the dialogue without other details about the scene, but you're free to include those as well!
Tagging @drippingmoon, @sleepy-night-child, @ashen-crest, @zmwrites, @sleepyowlwrites, @druidx, and anyone else who wants to do this 👍🏽
Reagan—
"Alright, who's the boy? Is he too young to knock out? Doesn't matter—either way I'm gonna have words."
"Give me some credit; my head's not that big."
"I haven't seen you in two days. If I don't see you today I may actually die of neglect."
"We're here now, and we'll be here for the next three hours, so relax and don't hit my partner when he's trying to be nice."
"Your little guys could get through a brick wall. I'm not sure if I should be proud, but I kind of am, Ben."
"You still kiss your mommy? What a baby."
"You realize how monumentally full of shit you are, yes?"
"If I used one of those [bathrooms], I wouldn't have been able to enjoy this wonderful bonding moment between us."
"Oh, kid, don't ask, okay? My rapport with married women is nothing I want you to imitate."
"If you ever run your fuckin' mouth to a man pointin' a gun at your face again, I will yank your teeth out one by one. Am I clear?"
"Right, I'd forgotten the newest trend is to go spend money to see the performances of people you hate."
"Being standoffish with me is one thing, but when she hurts our kids, I get mad."
"Reality continues to elude you, doesn't it?"
"God dammit, I'm starting to wish Wise shot you in the face."
"You very well could be [my daughter]. Who knows how many kids I really have?"
Ben—
"Well, you ain't German, though you sho' can drink like you is."
"Drunken wrestling always ends well for the skinny kid."
"What gives? You tryin' to move the car with your mind now?"
"You kiddin'? I'm a continual source of pride for you."
"Oh, god, you're gonna kill me in the middle of fuckin' nowhere..."
"Ain't this what broke us up in the first place? How the hell d'you keep managin' to rope me into things?
"I've been sober for about two minutes since that night in '42."
"'Course you're doin' the right thing. But keep in mind, I ain't gonna someday shuffle off this mortal coil without you right there to watch me do it."
"Alright, your highness, where do you keep your crown so I can polish it with what'll be left of my brains when we're finished up there?!"
"The love I have for you cannot be contained in this tiny room, so I'm choosing to expand and unfurl it elsewhere."
"You've been hiding your worry from me since we were kids. I'd barely recognize it on you."
"What? He's the only person on Earth you won't let get a glimpse of you without pants? That doesn't make any sense. He wants it more than anybody else."
"No, sir, you threw produce at my head. I am telling my mother."
"What is this, 'Ben Gets Nothing' Week?"
"I'm gonna break his ribs. I'm gonna snap a piano in two halves, take one of them, and hit him in the ribs."

Fk it, dropping all my Bitstrips comics
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because I want to clean out space on my computer, obviously.
For those of you who don't know, Bitstrips was a comic-making site that existed in the 2000s and shut down in 2016. It had quite a versatile (in my opinion) character builder as well as a comic maker which I haven't seen in any other comic making site. It had this whole little social aspect (comments, followers, putting other people in your own stuff) incorporated in it as well, and I really enjoyed using it! Bitmoji is its successor, and I could care less about it (I absolutely hate that it's incorporated into Snapchat, a platform I also hate, and I'm just annoyed that I also I see it everywhere - even in real life, in PROFESSIONAL settings).
Sometime in 2018, Bitstrips actually reached out to me (I think via the email I registered when I signed up) and sent me all the comics I created on the site so I didn't have to actually go in and screenshot/archive anything before it shut down! I can only hope other former Bitstrips users received the same thing...
Another reason I felt like dropping this is because I joined Bitstrips in 2014, literally a decade ago. Felt like recognizing it for what would have been my account's ten-year anniversary, you know?
I'm yapping. TLDR, I'm posting links to comics I made on a site I was a part of ten years ago that happens to be nostalgic to me. Feel free to read and cringe along with me.
If for some reason you can't see any of this stuff, Postimages (the image-hosting site I used to upload everything) probably hates your wifi network - I know for a fact I had difficulty accessing stuff I uploaded on this site using a more public network compared to my own personal home network. Can't really help you with that, sorry.
Also, if you see anything scribbled out in black...... I'm ashamed to admit I referred to myself by my real name on the site. -_- In hindsight, I kind of deserve that shame as I picked a pretty cringy username.
CLICK READ MORE FOR THE LINKS!
→ Remixes (think of this like reblogs/video responses, where someone would make a comic and you could "remix" it and put your own spin onto it)
→ Cosmic Club THE SERIES (a series based off a concept I had featuring alien girls themed off the planets of the solar system. This series was never actually finished and I was working on Episode 1, Part 3 when the site announced it was closing)
→ Cosmic Club EXTRAS (stuff I had originally made to be a part of the series itself, but once I started actually making series comics with a story behind them, these just became one-offs)
→ It's All About Moi (a little series thing I made later in my Bitstrips career, meant to feature things specifically relating to myself and my friends)
→ Original Characters (the "Sugar Rush OCs revamped" comics are WIPs that I was making right when Bitstrips announced they were closing)
→ Prima Ballerina (a series based off of characters and concept I came up with when I was like, 9-10 years old. A girl aspires to become a ballerina. It was never actually finished and was on hold by the time the site announced it was closing)
→ My Little Pony (don't judge, this fandom occupied my childhood for a good long while)
→ Theme of the Day comics (Bitstrips would post a random theme/word/concept each day, and users could submit comics related to said theme. There was definitely a lot of competition to see who could submit their comics the fastest, as those would tend to get seen earlier and thus voted up into higher rankings. I definitely tried to be one of the first people to post my comics, with varying results lol)
→ Random assorted comics

Week 2 Writeup #4: Reflections
Monsoon Mayhem Turns CMU Campus into a Water Park
Words and Comics by: Asthrielle
CMU's campus turned into an unexpected water park on Friday, August 30, 2024 as the Southwest Monsoon decided to throw a surprise pool party. Students found themselves wading through knee-deep water like they were on a new obstacle course, with motorcycles getting a free swim outside the main gate. The Campus Market road became the latest hot spot for impromptu kayaking, and nearby houses got their own indoor swimming experience. Many stores in the CMU Market shut down, presumably to avoid flooding their merchandise—because no one wants soggy snacks!

Mags and Lex talk titles
J.A.P.s and French Biddies | Nov. 16, 2013 | Lex Garcia
MTL-based spoken word artist Lex Garcia, as cynical as he may seem, has an eccentric side to his humour… which I detected right away and may have abused. Or not. I’m pretty sure he thinks my ideas are brilliant. Also I can’t deal with Bitstrips WHY EVEN IS IT A THING

Comic-ish pubmat
Tumblr media
This publication material is one that I've created through Canva, given that Bitstrips is no longer functional and that this was made before classes officially started. I've created this as teaser for the Day of Welcome society booth teaser of The Association of Langauge Erudite (TALE). I take particular pride on this one given the responses I've received, especially that the PPG-style characters in the visual have been digitally drawn by me. Conceptually, the booth was always to follow a Powerpuff Girls x comics vibe, and it became a matter of banking on that idea to visually execute it. In it are essential details for the occasion such as the title, date, and the contact details of the organization. Moreover, the dialogue and story bubbles have been added to benefit the theme.
Together, these elements ensured the impact and maximum engagement of the material upon posting. In terms of the process of conceiving the output, it was a bit of a challenge that a comic template was not available to Free Canva users. I've had to manually manipulate elements such as lines, particularly to achieve the comic panel gaps as seen above. Making sure that the photos and elements overlap (or don't) each other the right way also required meticulous attention to achieve the production of a material that felt modern but stuck with its theme.

I'm founding my own "blog village" starting with the mayor, Redhead Taylor Swift, or Taylor Sheeran (She was a Bitstrips character I did... back when Bitstrips existed) Mayor Sheeran wants the best for her town, just the bare minimum a mayor should want... for everyone to be redheads, either natural or dyed, that was her main campaign proposals, not sure how didshe win, but she started giving free dyes to anyone that want them.
If you have any idea for a future resident of my unnamed blog village let me know, I would love to make this a community effort, they can be real people, existing characters (live action or animated) or original characters, and if you have an idea of a name for the town, I'm all ears
