The Mantis Shrimp. Reading up on these guys was just a series of wtf utterances - and here's why: 1) They're not actually shrimp but stomatopods, which are the same family as crabs and lobsters. 2) They kill their prey but punching the beejeezus out of them. Their punches move so fast the water around their stings heats up to the temperature of the surface of the sun. 3) Aquariums have to keep them in shatterproof glasses cos #PrisonBreak and #BitchImOut for these badasses. 4) They're actually rainbow coloured when they're in the water. 5) Humans can see 3 spectrums of light (red, blue, green). How many can they see? TWELVE. Yeah, talk about extra. 6) They haven't evolved since the age of dinosaurs. And they mate for life (but only cos it's practical). But they're also terrible at differentiating colours so no worries, so long as they don't hate you or want to eat you, you're good.
