In true #Minnesotan fashion, we adhered to the rules of trisolation (groups of 3) but also, being a good #Wisconsinite, I made sure to check in on some locals & make sure they were ok. On our way to John A Latsch State Park, a great place for hikers that are in relatively good shape😬, not afraid of heights😬, & at least 4’ tall (lots of steps have a greater than average rise), 😬😬😬, we checked on Emily’s Bakery in Hastings, they were in high spirits & the goods were superb. After that, we got as far as Red Wing before sniffing out another #bakery - Hanisch Bakery, & again, phenomenal! Upon reaching the park, I realized that the hike up Mt Charity might be a bit much, from the trail rating, but we decided, collectively, that it was best to get some energy out. The #diamondlkgirls took to the stairs like #Vikings to a boat. Bella climbed every one of the 592 steps & Shay tacked about 1/2 of them. We noshed for a time while admiring the beauty of Wisconsin’s bluffs & then started back down (a far more treacherous endeavor). Including lunch, we got up & back in 2 hours, not too shabby. The wooden steps were in good shape, if you’re looking for a good place to #trisolate or #bisolate - mostly ice/snow free. The moss adds a lovely pop of color to the predominantly matte earth-toned environs. And the views are worth the climb.
