Things I wanted to know in Sofia The First
The story behind queen Lorelei's death, her love story with king Roland, the dificulties they had to go through, how everything happened, what everyone felt. How the other castle characters felt after this.
Birk Balthazar and his life with Miranda, how he was with Sofia, if she ever met him before he died. How Sofia feels about all this, how it impacted their life
A conversation between Roland and Miranda about their lost lovers. Seriously, in a natural and honest way, without that stupicidy of people feeling jealous over their partner talking about past lovers. They have something to bond over, something that only they understand.
How Winifred and Goodwyn (Cedric's parents) met eachother and fell in love. How they raised their children, in their POV's of course.
Wormwood and Cedric talking about their issue without interruptions, adrenaline, or anything bigger happening to be more exact.
Roland, Cedric and Cordelia's childhood. I'm not interested in Tilly since she doesn't really stands out to me but I think she would be there too. How they grew up in the castle, if Cedric and Cordelia had their own rooms or if their family slept inside the tower.
Cedric's first love. Just because. And he got heartbroken too unfortunately. Headcanon.
Sofia being cursed by the amulet in the episode Sofia The Worst. She lied to her parents, her siblings, broke into Cedric's workshop and made spells using his wand without permission, didn't said sorry for all the bad deeds that Sofia the worst did (at least not for each one). Elena was sleeping I suppose
Sascha. I hate and love this girl. I wish we had more of her.
A CONVERSATION BETWEEN CEDRIC AND SASCHA/MISS NETTLE. REALLY? WE WERE ROBBED. THE DRAMA, THE CONFLICT, THEY AGREEMENT IN THE END. MAYBE A POTENTIAL SHIPP. WHY
More of Princesses Ivy. I feel like she didn't appeared enough and they made her personality too shallow. She needs a redemption arc, a single episode with Miss Nettle didn't made her change a lot.
Wormwood becoming a human and being one of the main villains. He would 100% be black and wear those classy outfits. People woule be out there crushing over a bird
I know that there is more to add to this list, but I can't think about it now.

Sofia The First headcanon time!
Since any song can be a lullaby if you sing it like one, Sofia's favorite lullaby is a sea shanty that Birk used to sing to her. She doesn't remember the words because she was so young at the time, but she remembers how her dad sounded when he sang it to her. She remembers what the song sounded like. She hums the song to herself sometimes when she misses him.
#had this headcanon for a while but i don't think i made a post about it yet#i think i talked to someone about it in dms at some point tho...#stf#sofia the first#sofia the fandom#sofia balthazar#birk balthazar#headcanon

Anyone have an explanation for why Miranda didn't know how to sail and had to take lessons in Her Royal Spyness when Sofia mentions having known how to sail since she was four years old in The Princess Stays in the Picture?
#one explanation i thought might work is that she simply forgot how to sail after so many years not doing it#bc she didn't sail after Birk's passing#but something feels off about this explanation because wouldn’t Sofia also have forgotten how to sail then?#I can't imagine miranda taking her sailing#oh i don’t know...#sofia the first#queen miranda#birk balthazar#princess sofia

So Lorelei according to legends was a siren* who lured sailors onto rocks to drown them. And Birk Balthazar was lost at sea. Which could mean nothing.

Inspired by the Disney Princess villain song series by Lydia the Bard, here’s my idea for Princess Sofia’s own dark version of a Sofia the First song and the backstory and animatic script accompanying it. There are mentioned dead bodies and a little blood. I’ve really tried to keep her in-character, despite the very different circumstances and tone. She’s more of an anti-villain here. The canon song that inspired it is below.
youtube
I’d love to hear feedback on this and talk to other fans, of Sofia or Lydia.
I’ve written one for Princess Elena too!

OMG! What a great plot! @moonypears-blog
This is a very well thought out concept, which has a lot of potential to be explored. Mainly because it reuses the powers of the Amulet and other magical items with a new purpose and context.
One of the things that bothers me a little, is when characters "forget" a very convenient item without having a reason why not to use it.
While Elena was inside the amulet, it is possible that she would find a way to make this resource inaccessible for Sofia's sake while she had that intention.
But, as the powers' "security inspector" would no longer be there, she would have unlimited access to them.
Finding out how her father died isn't a bad deed, it's actually a good deed. However, it would come at the cost of emotional weight, which could leave Sofia with trauma for the rest of her life.
Maybe this thought would come to her when she was older, like in her teens.
Roland is a good father to her, but I feel that Sofia might still be curious to find out more about her biological father.
( Perhaps she hid this wish even from her own parents, so as not to hurt Roland's feelings, and make him think he wasn't enough for her.)
And since Sofia has a very strong "I can handle it" mentality, I think there would be a certain difficulty in stopping her from going after answers. Especially with a subject as sensitive as seeing the remains of a loved one in her own family, and the causes behind his death.
And if even if someone convince her not to go there herself, she could look for a substitute way of finding the answers, like in a reenactment of the from the moment he died. Such as the status of the ship, weather conditions, coordinates and whether there were other ships that could provide a rescue.
Could the looking-back glass they used to review Cordelia's hair accident, be used to see her father again? Perhaps, until the exact moment of the shipwreck that he died?
Unless there is a way to "block" that mirror image with magic, or, as a desperate last resort, shatter the mirror itself.
Since Sofia can turn into a mermaid, what if she asks Cedric if there's a spell that can show her where her father's ship is? So maybe she can find out what happened to him? But Cedric doesn't let her because he doesn't want her to stumble onto something she shouldn't. No child deserves to see their parent's rotten corpse, and he won't be complicit in showing her that sight. She already had enough trauma.

Since the Sofia the First sequel is coming around 2026 (SO LONG, but atleast I have Mystreet S7 late in this year) things I want/wish that is going to be in the show:
The siblings (James, Sofia and Amber) bonding, either by duo or trio. Better if mixed.
Hugfia, HUGFIA.
Sofia angst (Deep dive in her mental state and emotions), her being mature then her actual age and people notice.
New characters but keep the old important ones (like, we don't mind if y'all get rid of Jade and Ruby)
New villains, new missions.
Sofia's friendship with Lucinda and Vivian even if they go to diff schools probably.
More Cedric and Sofia moments, like Cedric being a worried uncle when Sofia gets into some mess.
Sofia and Roland bonding, we need the step-dad step-daughter appreciation!
Mature topics since the audience that is actually interested have grown up. Waiting. (Much like Mystreet and MCD)
Birk Balthazar lore.
More about Sofia when she was still a villager.
More lore for the Protectors and Mystic Isle.
And more that I can't think of rn, hopefully they won't kiddify (is that a word? IT IS NOW) it, they KNOW the old audience have grown up. If they make it all songs and adventures with no plot whatsoever IM GONNA-

Sofia and Miranda have few if not any photos of Birk, as they were commoners and oil paintings were not so accessible to them.
If they do, it's something small that Miranda made by hand, like a locket or small picture frame with a painting in it.
So Sofia almost don't have pictures of her dad. Let that sink.

Since we never see him in the show, except for his hat, I have decided to make my own design for Birk Balthazar, Miranda’s first husband!Using what little we know about him from sources outside the show and combining them with my own headcanons, I am really happy with how this all came together.
Since he is Sofia's biological dad, I think she must have inherited her hair colour and texture from him, so I wanted to show that. Since he is from Freezenberg and is a sailor I thought he should have a big beard and mustache. He is wearing a long coat that he ripped the sleeves off so his sailor tattoos could be seen. On his right arm he has tattoos of an anchor (because he sailed across the ocean to the western kingdoms many times before), a polar bear (his favorite animal, and one of the main animals of his homeland), and one he keeps covered with a scarf Miranda gave him. On his left arm he has a carnation (the flower of Miranda's homeland), and an orca (given to him after he saved a ship from a sea monster as a token of his bravery).

Sofia the First: Sofia —Aesthetic

Princess Sofia Balthazar-Winslow I's Character & Personality
Sofia is a little girl with a commoner's background until her mother marries the King of Enchancia and she becomes a princess. She learns behaving like a royal can only come from the heart. Sofia is the only daughter of Birk Balthazar and Miranda. She soon becomes Roland's stepdaughter, as well as the younger stepsister of Amber and James. On one hand, Sofia is a softhearted idealist who's quite kind and compassionate. Due to this, she's willing to befriend those whom the majority want nothing to do with. In addition, Sofia is loyal to her loved ones to the point of altruism. The precious girl shows her affections through warm hugs. Sofia even believes in keeping promises no matter what. She also believes something being trouble-free and being happy are the same thing. On the other hand, Sofia is a hard-headed pragmatist who believes the proof is in the pudding. This fuels her investigative and skeptical side. She tends to try juggling more than she can handle, especially when it comes to her friends. Thus, Sofia values making herself as multifaceted as possible. However, she has trust issues. As such, Sofia often goes off on her own without telling anybody. Additionally, she keeps secrets from everyone except her Aunt Tilly and Princess Oona. Beyond this, Sofia tries to hide her vulnerable self. Many times, when she's worried or scared, she questions if she truly belongs with her royal loved ones. Sofia has a tendency to question her own self-worth and if she can handle being a princess. While she doesn't get scared often, she'll lose some of her confidence when she does, which can cause trouble for her.

I've been thinking about Sofia the First lately (I know it's for toddlers, but it's cute and I like it and shut up). Mainly, I've been thinking about Birk Balthazar.
By the time the series started, dude had already been presumed dead for several years. But what if he didn't actually die?
I'm imagining this guy going on this odyssey, desperately trying to get back to the family he left behind. But when he finally arrives after so many years, he's already too late.
His wife, happily remarried to the motherfucking king. His daughter, being given the life and education and opportunities he would have never been able to provide.
What do you even do in the situation? Stay "dead" and don't mess up their new lives? Reveal yourself and deal with whatever shit happens? I'd watch/read the fuck outta that.

This is so cool to see because this is the first official source for Birk Balthazar being Sofia's biological father's name since the 2012 CNN article, (unless there are some Craig tweets that I'm forgetting).

I know this is probably obvious to bigger fans of STF but here’s an official layout of the family tree!
