30 things i learned about shawn after 30 q&a’s:

i feel like i have learned a lot about shawn in the past few months of touring so im here to share those things with you all!!

1) he will & does give compliments out like they’re candy 

2) he wholeheartedly believes it is okay & it is good to cry & to let yourself feel - in fact, he encourages it 

3) he likes his hair played with 

4) don’t forget to add ‘the alchemist’ by paulo coelho to your summer reading list - our boy is a reader now 

5) he wants to eat a cricket?? for reasons not even he understands 

6) 2 words dry. humour. he is a COMEDIAN with an attitude 

7) he is really excited to go to argentina, he mentions it at least once a day - as he should

8) he is very easily distracted & sometimes misses the point of things kinda like a squirrel but we love him for it 

9) he thinks it is really important that if you love someone, you tell them...the second you find out. don’t be scared. 

10) he likes pineapple on pizza so do with that what you will 

11) he gets super nerdy when he talks about guitars but it is the cutest thing on this planet sooo make him talk about guitars!! 

12) suddenly he thinks he is stan twitter so “taste” & “periodt” are now part of his daily vocabulary 

13) he has a lot of really quality stories that he is holding back - exhibit a) the airport story where the girl that was talking to him didnt realize who he was, cracks me up everytime

14) his hate for tomatoes bring him to the point of growling - weird but i support, tomatoes are nasty

15) mocking fans is his favourite sport

16) he needs his gps while driving, even at home, because he doesnt have a clue where he is going or what he is doing  98% of the time

17) he falls a lot more than we think & he is super dramatic about it - in birimingham he hit his knee & thought he was dying & i quote, “i hit my knee so hard earlier i thought i was dying. i was like ‘there’s a show tonight, that’s not gonna happen..this knee is done! i can’t even walk’ but guess who was fine & did the show

18) sometimes he gets a little confused when it comes to interacting with people & whether theyre saying something to him because they mean it & are honest or saying something to him because he is shawn mendes 

19) he is really starting to learn that you cannot please everybody so you just have to make sure you are making yourself happy & thats what counts 

20) a lesson he would teach his future kids? “i would say, no matter how smart you are no matter how smart you think you are, no matter all the things that you know, you never know what it feels like to be somebody else until youre in their shoes” 

21) he is really loves to make fun of brian & loves to laugh at brian hurting himself 

22) he is really really good at picking up languages he has never spoken before. he can repeat a sentence back to someone in a different language almost perfectly the first time - pronunciation & all, linguistic scholar id you ask me

23) he believes in fate, he believes in second chances, & he maybe even soulmates

24) shawn trying to explain particular taste & making out in a “sexy way”, hand motions & all is rather entertaining & if he could maybe provide us with a youtube tutorial

25) he is such a leo it hurts 

26) he recognizes people by smell & is sure to point it out when someone smells good in a m&g during the q&a - moral of the story, always smell your best

27) he has “the tightest hamstrings in the world” but is super proud of himself for being able to sit cross legged now

28) he likes tequila, tea, & taking hikes (to keep his skin clear ofc) 

29) shawn is his name & vintage shirts are his game 

30) this kid eats, sleeps, & breathes meditation

014. Detail one secret shame your character feels.

Birmingham isn't really a man of shame. He knows he did what he had to do in every heist and every step in his life. No regrets. Mitch regrets losing his wife to Snow. He thinks he wasn't careful. He thinks he failed. Maverick isn't sure if he's ashamed about what happened that day in that vessel. To be honest, he started accepting the fact it wasn't anyone's fault long ago.

023. What do they consider beautiful in others physically?

Maverick is a personality type of man. He really isn't someone to care much about physically features. Birmingham has a certain love for the eyes. He calls them the mirror of the soul. And Mitch? I don't really think there's something special he loves. Perhaps the hair even though I doubt it.

050. How does your character feel about their own mortality?

Maverick doesn't really care anymore, neither does Mitch. To be perfectly honest, I don't think Birmingham cares either. They probably just accept it as it is.

@sugarplumkitten That airline creeps post you just reblogged is something I am so glad people are seeing. I did a lot of solo travel when I was younger, because I took summer jobs in different states, and we moved across the country in my early teens so I would fly back across to see my friends in the summer and such. And I cannot even begin to explain the many ways I was targeted as a 80 pound teenager by grown ass men. And you don’t know what to do when you are that young. What’s more problematic for me is the worst instances I had involved airline workers. I was pulled aside by two grown men when boarding a flight out of Birimingham for a pat down in which they took me into a room (I had been traveling with my little brother at the time, who they did not pull, nor would they let him come with me) and basically felt me up for upwards half an hour while literally talking through me to each other about how tiny and cute I was. On a flight to Alaska I was seated near the back of the plane, but early in the flight a male flight attendant asked me to move to the front of the plane, something about emergency exits. I don’t actually recall me being near one, but I was sixteen? So I did. He sat me in a solo seat at the very front that no one was around me at all, and it was beside the flight attendant prep area.  He proceeded to ‘flirt’ with me the entire flight. He would touch me when he went by me, he played with my hair, he put his hands on my thighs multiple times and would tell me it was because of concerns with turbulence. By the end, he was making jokes, like ‘if you marry me you can fly for free’ and all kinds of other stuff. I was sixteen, I was barely 80 pounds, just coming out from under being extremely ill. I was carrying a stuffed crab that had been my security blanket through the various hospitals I had to be prior. I was wearing fuzzy boot slippers, because I had been sick so long and unable to walk that now that I was walking again, shoes were really hard on me so doctors had advised my parents to get fluffy soft footwear for me till I built my strength up again. I was an absolute child. This man was well into his 30s or 40s. I had a dude sit behind me on a flight back to Georgia later that year that kept reaching forward and putting his hand in my hair without warning. When I jumped he would laugh and tell me it was just so pretty, and kept asking me to move back and sit with him. There was a young man sitting next to me during this. He did nothing, even though I know I looked terrified. Because I was terrified. When I flew into Alaska, I was taking a summer job, and my parents had arranged for me to be picked up from the airport and taken to a church that was offering me a room for the night till my job picked me up in the morning. I got there early, and was not sure how to get to the point I was to meet my ride. I asked a young man at the gate, an employee, for directions, he happily offered to escort me there. He had me get into one of those little carts for the trip. He spent the whole trip trying to put his hand up my skirt. I ended up fumbling off in a panic and ran for it. There were people everywhere, and no one did anything. I was crying when my ride finally found me.  And that’s just employees. It’s an absolute nightmare, and I don’t want anyone to experience the shit I did.
