The Mourning Dove nest is still doing well. Obviously, there are more than just eggs under this bird...! Hope to see those nestlings peeking out soon 😀

Just witnessed an act of animal-on-animal cruelty: there's a friendly robin who built her nest atop our front door sensor light.
We named her Jojo after my late mom. So I just saw a crow swoop up to her nest and steal one her pretty blue eggs! I'm shocked, and really sad now...

Bird nests on our trees
Tumblr media
I have no idea whose nests these two are and whether they are in use or empty. Magpies nest is the third one I know, but it is completely inside of the thuja tree, so it is very hard to see it and impossible to photograph. The large nest on the big pine tree (in the first photo) is old one, since I've discovered it few years back, but the second nest on the spruce (in the second photo) I noticed only couple of days ago. I suspect it might be a thrush's nest, but I'm not sure. I haven't seen anyone going in or leaving from it. Also... since the magpies are nesting in our yard now, I think that thrushes might not be welcome to live so close by. Those trees are all next to each other.
I would love to see the bird nests from close, but of course I must not go disturb the nesting peace. I couldn't even climb up that high anyway, so I just have to settle for admiring them from far with my binoculars. I'm hoping for lots of chicks to magpies and to other birds as well. 🤞🥰🤞💜💜💜🐦
Closeups of the two nests:

Ps. The large nest looks like it could also be magpies nest or maybe it was made by a crow... it was more hidden before, but some branch or branches (pine needles) must have fallen off from there, since it is so open for sight now. Or maybe the nest's bottom has fallen a but downwards... who knows 🤷‍♀️

A Springtime Squatter
Several years ago, a friend gave me some cuttings from a succulent he had been growing. The plant had managed to survive my lack of care and still grew into a thriving plant. Earlier this week I moved the plant, along with two others from inside to my outdoor balcony.  When I went to water them this morning, I found that the succulent had been decimated and renovated into a makeshift nest. The…
