I believe in our women empowering women challenge. This challenge also came around the time that the Emmy nominations were announced and I'm in a basket of feels right now. 💜 Being queer, mexican and pakistani has placed me in a lifetime role of checking to see if whatever group I'm in is being inclusive...some see it as a cool superpower, but sometimes it bites me in the nalgas. 🍑 Like when I was younger and part of a Mexican student group, we had access to free phone privileges while other Latinx groups didn't, among other things, I spoke out and got bit hard, not just hard...HAURD in tha BOOTAY. It was tough but it was the right thing to do and I did it even after getting hate mail for being a half-Mexicana leading a Mexican student group. lawd-jezus. 💜 Whenever any kind of award nominations come out, I'm like ummmm, yo checkit so if folks like @ser_anzoategui from @tanyasaracho @vida_starz gets a nomination where do they go? real talk! and why wait till non-binary folks get nominated? Why not create the space now? We are waiting forrrrrr...whut. 💜 To my actor friends here, do we feel comfortable accepting an award in a platform that hasn't created space for everyone? including non-binary folks? Real talk, right now, I don't. Am I the only one feelin' this?
