Hii! I've requested from you before ( I requested yan superman and what he told lois and his parents about reader) but anyway, I had another idea for a one-shot to share if you don't mind! ( It's a bit of a marvel x DC thing)

Reader being the child of a villain and being saved by Batfam and/ or superfam and taken into their family. One day the justice league gets wind of some kind of interdimensional portal that opened up. Superfam / batfam shocked to see it's their darling child. Basically they come from a universe where they were never saved by their father and were raised by their bio villain parents. I could imagine superfam's darling being like Deadpool or being raised by someone like him (ignoring the fact he's from marvel). They swear a lot and have a crude and sarcastic sense of humor. Just the complete opposite from superman's version of his child.

For Batfam reader would be like Laura Kinney, and since they were never saved they ended up as a test subject for a secret organization trying to create mutant solders. They see reader following their father and not exactly know how to interact with people without trying to murder them. (Much like Laura Kinney in the movie Logan). They don't talk and once they've calmed down they are a sweet kid just damaged. Imagine batman's anger seeing Logan act so aggressive/ passive aggressive towards different reality! Reader.

It breaks both families hearts to see their child be so different due to all the pain they went through. Maybe the justice league uses their counterparts technology and their data base and they basically see what reader went through. All the intense testing that's basically torture ( if you're comfortable writing that) like the documentation of every experiment that reader went through. ( Maybe in their universe they didn't know the gravity of the whole situation and didn't see what happened they just knew that this kid needed help).

Hi!! I would absolutely love to write this, it’s such a neat idea! Especially given the different reactions each family member would have, as well as how it works!

So for this, I’ll be doing the Batman one, but I honestly think there will be a Superfam follow up!

Logan will not be on screen, but he ( as well as other Marvel characters, will be referenced!! Reader has enhances senses, on par with Wolverine

Warnings: medical abuse and torture, obsessive behavior, some deeply traumatized children, reader is non-verbal for the most part, mentioned child neglect and controlling behavior. As always, read safely and enjoy!!

You had lived in a mansion before. Briefly, of course, not having like being tied down by the X-Men and their strange customs, but you had lived there. It had been awkward and strange and uncomfortable, adjusting from life on the run to life with a bed and a warm plate, not helped by the fact that Wolverine had wanted nothing to do with you.

This wasn’t that. This was so far from that it made you seethe with rage.

You drag your claws over a bit of wood, gouging into it, and grit your teeth. You had been avoiding your dimensional counterpart, and their siblings, and now you you were trying and failing to carve something from the hunk of dead wood you had found under a tree. It was slow going, since you didn’t have any proper tools and the action only reminded you of the fact that, somehow, you had drawn the dimensional short stick and gotten completely screwed.

You throw the hunk of wood at the tree with an enraged shriek, and it shatters, tiny bits of wood flying everywhere. It wasn’t even good carving wood anyways. Too dry and brittle.

You begin to search for a new one. Alfred- their butler- kept the grounds neat. Pristine. It was hard to find any wood of carving size lying around, and it was even harder to find a piece worth trying to carve.

Your ears prick at the sound of a body moving, the footsteps so silent there’s no possible way you would have heard it if you weren’t a mutant. There’s a pause, and then the body moves forward again, this time much louder.

It takes you a moment to realize they were announcing their presence. The thought warms your chest a little bit, and you retract your claws, feeling the skin heal over and the pain vanish.

Dick -your counterparts oldest brother- steps out into view. You stare at him, even as he continues to approach, a friendly smile on his face. Everything about him, his body language and the way his blue eyes sparked with concern, was an open book, a far cry from when you first arrived and he watched you with sharp eyes while keeping your counterpart away from you.

You didn’t trust it, and you shift, narrowing your eyes at him. He doesn’t seem phased.

“Hey! I was looking for you. Dinner’s ready, if you would like to come eat?” He offers with a small half smile, and your stomach decides for you. You nod, and he grins.

“Come on than. We’ll be eating in the main hall tonight, since everyone is visiting to help you with everything that’s been going on.” He doesn’t touch you, although his hand twitches like he wants to, and you appreciate it. You wonder if your counterpart also didn’t like being touched, or if they had grown used to it.

You follow silently. He seems content to let the silence hang, before he glances at you.

“Damian had a lot of similar problems when he first got here. The anger, the violence. He wasn’t used to having anyone in his corner.” It’s a statement. One that baffles you.

Had they really realized how much you were struggling with such ease? If so, how? You knew you were violent and abrasive, you came by it honestly, so how were they so good at telling? Not even Logan, your father, had realized, and you both had spent so much time shoving each other way that it had become a familiar song and dance.

You don’t say anything. You don’t think he expects you too, even though he lets the silence hang in the air. It’s not an awful silence. It’s almost peaceful, actually.

The Mansion was in full view now, old brick and ivy covered walls, and you follow him inside. You are immediately hit with the sound of laughter, and yelling, and delighted clapping and whooping. It takes you a moment to reorient yourself, but when you do, you quietly slip further into the halls, sticking close to Dick.

He seems almost smug about that. You figure it’s simply another one of this world’s weird eccentricities.

The hall has one massive, long table, and there are so many people there. You had seen some of them, you recognized the white-haired one as Jason and the shortest as Damian, but so many of them were entirely new. Your counterpart seems comfortable, and you avert your eyes from them, slightly weirded out to see your face on someone else.

“Oi! Dick, get over here!” Jason motions, pointing to the two seats next to him. Dick grins, sitting in his seat, and you sit as well, idly fiddling with your silverware.

“So how come you were the only one able to find them when the rest of us were tearing through the manor looking for them?” Jason complains, and he passes a plate, Dick serving his food and yours. You don’t know if you’re pleased or annoyed, but he gives you plenty and that’s all you really care about.

“They just needed some time to cool off outside.” Dick shrugs, and you start eating, your stomach twisting angrily every second you don’t.

“Whatever. B managed to get some results on the the blood tests, so all of that is.. in the works.” Jason gestures vaguely, and you frown, before a new person huffs.

She’s blonde, and pretty, with sharp blue eyes that narrow at Jason.

“Keep talking shop at the dinner table and Alfie’s gonna bench you.” She sing-songs, before turning to you. “I’m Stephanie, by the way. I wasn’t here when you arrived, or else I would have kept the guys from being too stupid.”

“Oh bullshit! You would’ve been pulling stupid shit right alongside us.” Jason protests, and you snort. The sound surprises you, but it makes a delighted grin appear on Stephanie’s and Jason’s faces, and even your counterpart looks pleased.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” She declares imperiously, nose upturned to give the illusion of looking down at Jason. It doesn’t work, mainly because he was so much taller than her and she was fighting off a smirk.

“Uh-huh. Sure Blondie.” Jason drawls, and you take another bite of food.

“Can we please not do this? It’s way too early.” Another new person, alarmingly pale although maybe his complexion was just like that, groans, rubbing at his forehead. You tilt your head, wondering whether he was injured. You didn’t think so.

“Timbers, it’s five in the afternoon.” Dick points out.

“Oh he definitely didn’t sleep again last night.” Jason says, almost gleefully. “He’ll be lucky if Alfie doesn’t chew him out.”

“I was busy! Anyways, I managed to get it so that, at the very least, we can access the files B found on our newest visitor.” He shrugs, and you tense. You had some idea what would be in those files, and none of it was good. The only people who had kept files on you back home, who had known you existed, was the lab you came from and the X-Men. You’d read both. They weren’t flattering.

You hear Jason suck in a breath. You slide your plate away, and everyone’s attention shifted to you.

You press your lips together, and then point towards the door that would lead into the room where the clock was.

Somehow, they understand you perfectly. You wonder if they also have a telepath.

“You want one of us to come with?” Jason asks, and there’s a sharp gleam behind his eyes. You don’t know how to decipher it, but you shake your head. He frowns.

You don’t wait for his response, instead slipping out of the room. Everyone is quiet when you leave, even Stephanie and Tim.

You step into the Cave, and the cool, moist air tickles your skin. It smells strange. Machinery, and gunpowder and underground. What you would think an underground lab or facility smelled like, but steeped in different, strange scents. All of your counterpart’s siblings. Medical supplies. Dog, even a hint of cow. It was a strange amalgamation of scents that was oddly fitting.

There’s was also the acute scent of rage. You stiffen, and you resist the urge to let your claws out, instead going down the stairs even though your instincts demand you do anything but. All else fails, you could simple flee.

Bruce- Batman- was standing in front of a massive monitor. He was stock still, every muscle coiled into something sharp, something dangerous, and the sight of it makes your heart clench in your chest in worry. The white lenses of his cowl were fixed on the text on screen, completely hiding his eyes, and if it weren’t for the scent of grief and anger radiating off him, you might have assumed he was simply like that. He always seemed able to come off as far more dangerous than he was. Or just as dangerous as he was.

You look at the monitor.

It was an old, old file. Ancient. From when you were too young to remember, based off the date. Either way, it had never illicited quite an extreme reaction before.

He stiffens. Maybe he finally broke out of his trance of rage to realize he was around someone else. You could relate. Anger could be.. blinding, sometimes. Emotions could be blinding.

He turns.

In a moment, everything about him changes. His entire stances softens, into something so much softer and far more gentle. His scent changes also, and there’s something entirely new in his scent. The grief and rage soften into something else, and you have no idea what to do with that at all.

There’s salt in the air that wasn’t there before.

You frown, and then turn just slightly, pointing to the time, and the entrance to the cave. He releases a shuddering breath, and nods.

“I’ll be up in a moment. Let me get changed.”

You nod, and for a second, consider what to do. Leave him here, and join the others, instead of waiting? You would like privacy, if you were nearly as emotional as he seemed right now. Or stay, and offer support?

You turn away, offering him his space, and go up the stairs.

Strangely enough, you are confident he will follow, and your skin doesn’t crawl despite the fact you had your back turned.

You wonder if everyone in this new world was as strange as these people. You’re not sure you would mind it if they were.

my name is sans and it is so nice to meet you.

i don't quite know what to exactly call this blog, but it's certainly somewhere i feel comfortable posting my ideas more freely — specifically, i'm a roleplayer with plenty of canon muses; with the obliteration of quotev's feed, this blog has become my new playground in a way.

hence i am very well aware that i am making shit up normally when i'm posting about canon characters; my rping portrayals are generally canon divergent, influenced by my personal headcanons as well as my roleplay and plots with my friends, who have their own personal interpretations too.

rest assured that i do understand and know quite a bit of canon lore, it's just that ... canon is my bitch ( *drew gooden voice* oh my gosh, she said the thing! she said what was in her bio! ) or less crudely a suggestion to me, it lays out the world to me and i expand on it; marie kondo's teachings really come in handy here, i let go of whatever doesn't spark joy.

i also do media rants and analysis as well edit and write from time to time; i'm not very good at them but i enjoy doing them regardless.

have you ever read A Dark and Secret Magic by Wallis Kinney?

I started reading it last night (I also almost finished it before my meds kicked in) and got pangs of Changeling several times

it also made me desperately miss my first introduction into your games, which was Changeling

I haven't read it! It looks like it was published last year and I've only read a couple of traditional novels in the last couple of years due to being busy with work (I've read more visual novels and IF than traditional novels lately). ;~;

When I looked it up I saw the writer bio said: "Wallis' largest sources of joy are science and fairytales." which does sound like me though. Ha ha. A writer after my own heart.

Laura Kinney the Wolverine: Blood Hunt #1 Throughts:

It was excellent execution as a tie-in. It related to the overarching event really well, while still feeling grounded and character-focused as a one-shot.

Unfortunately, it appears my suspicion of Laura acting like a Logan stand-in was more or less correct.

Spoilers:

The plot is pretty straightforward: Laura's on a rescue mission to save Gabby, she does so, and then there's a "mutant" that also needs rescuing, according to Gabby. Turns out, Gabby fudged that part a little, and its really Xarus, one of Dracula's sons, that needs saving. The vampires were using Xarus as a guinea pig to test out mutant blood in giving vampires special abilities. Laura and Gabby argue, but they save Xarus.

Postives:

-- GABBY!!! (I missed her) She's a star here. She's the main character. She's the most perfect chaos gremlin child to walk the face of the earth -- conducted her own investigation, infiltrated the organization, and nearly completed the rescue all by herself -- with a few more years of experience under her belt, she'll be unstoppable. Doctor Doom himself will live in fear of her, lest she decide to stage a military coup against him just for fun.

Her characterization was absolutely on-point here and I missed her dearly.

-- The art was spectacular. Robert Gill did an excellent job in terms of dynamic action scenes and panel flow. Solid 10/10 suited the narrative well, it was perfect amount of blood 'n gore for a vampire book. Just superb.

-- It was fun. A good balance of hack 'n slash with a proper story and some sweet moments. Aside from my one major complaint (see below) it was a fantastic depiction of Laura and Gabby's bond, and I nearly forgot how much I enjoyed it.

My biggest gripe: Listen, I know Gabby is an absolute ray of sunshine who sees good in everyone despite going through some horrific stuff, and I love that about her, but like Laura should not be as much as a foil to that here. (I mean, maybe the story wouldn't be AS interesting without a little soap opera-y conflict between siblings, but still)

I know I oft use the shorthand term "Logan-esque" or "Logan Stand-in" but I haven't really explained what I mean by that, and this issue has some perfect scenes for me to elaborate.

Example: Laura telling Gabby "we don't save monsters."

That is 100% a Logan thing to say. In contrast, Laura fundamentally is separated in character from Logan by her compassion and level of control. She sincerely would (or rather SHOULD) be 100% on board with helping Gabby, due to the fact she spent her earliest years believing she was a monster herself and not worth saving. Since then, she's grown into a much more kind person (both to herself and others) and does try her damndest to do better. Both better than Logan and better than past self. (and she is better, dammit) She has a helluva lot more self-awareness than Logan does, and that's good! It should be one of the defining characteristics that separates her from Logan!

She doesn't need her past explained to her like Gabby did here. Laura arguably has already gone through the character growth of defining herself differently than Logan would. I mean, that was part of the whole reason she took Gabby under her wing in the first place! Whereas Logan would've dumped Gabby off with the X-Men or elsewhere, like he did with Laura (and don't get me started on all the retcon BS flashbacks where Logan was actually acting like a father to her. Originally, he was an absolute fail of a parent in different ways to all of his bio-kids, and Laura was not an exception. Gambit is the one who actually steps up, but I digress here.)

Example 2: The start of the issue, Laura being a sneaky berserk, much like Logan in Uncanny X-Men #133 (or around that issue. if I'm misremembering) It was Vs. The Hellfire Club and Logan has his Dirty Harry moment in the arc.

Its not completely unheard for a person to mentally fall back on old habits in moments of stress, but Laura's never been a "berserker" like Logan. Its just her being a bit of character here. She SHOULD be much more cold, precise, and calculated, like an assassin.

To paraphrase Domino's thoughts from the X-Force Days: Logan's a savage beast, but Laura's like a machine.

In summary, Laura's efficient as fuck, and not at all showy, if you wanna argue that she's "just worried about Gabby" or something.

Overall, while I loved Gabby in this, I think there's just a fundamental misunderstanding of Laura's character here. And this has been kind of an on-and-off thing since the Krakoa era started. Like, character growth is good, but this just doesn't feel like we've had a natural progression of Laura's character to me.

And I suppose, we have all-new Wolverine, where Gabby saves the cyborg-clone thing called S.C.O.U.T. (where Gabby got her newer codename, although I still like Honey Badger better). But that moment was also kind of out-of-character to me?

Like, even if you want to debate that "oh, Laura's done this before. In more recent years, she's gotten a lot harsher with certain things, etc etc"

I have to disagree and say it SHOULDN'T be that way. It directly contradicts her earliest characterizations. She should be distraught and questioning whether or not those things have a soul and in natural character growth progression, she should be saving them without question. It just makes no sense to me!

I know I complained a lot here, but I also want to clarify, its not just this one-shot that's guilty of this -- it seems like it's been a recent trend overall as of late, and I don't care for it. This one-shot was not the most egregious example by any means, and if you're really missing Gabby (like me) I recommend it.

Do you think Beth's first love is Daryl? As in she only ever really liked Jimmy and Zach but they were not serious romances where her heart was touched deeply. With Daryl there seems to be a deep connection between them.

Beth doesn't seem afraid of Daryl or intimidated like a lot of people are. I think people at the prison appreciated him because he took care of them, but initially his own group were negative to him and then obviously the Alexandria community apart from Aaron and Eric were judgemental of Daryl. I think Daryl is the stereotypical mean redneck at first but Beth seen past that.

Carol tried to be 'more' to Daryl in the early days maybe trying to find a real love/first love as Ed doesn't really count. She saw Daryl was kind and considerate it to her but he only meant it platonically.

Daryl just does what needs to be done. People tend to use him to carry out the dirty work though like Rick and don't consider his personal feelings.

Yes I do think that I think that both Jimmy and Zac were very nice sweet boys but they never made her hungry, they never made her soul cry out in yearning the way she felt with Daryl.

You hit the nail on the head, I 100% think they were more then willing to take his meat and his service but didn't wanna associate with him

Beth, Emily Kinney said in a interview for season four that her character is willing to go head to head with Daryl, she isn't afraid to fight him which is very different from how most people view him

ANDREA ...sigh, in the deleted scene of the Vatoa she doesn't think very highly of him accusing him of not being able to read

DALE excused Daryl getting shot by saying that everyone wished they could shoot Daryl as if to say no one is going to hold her accountable

They benefit from him and his skills yet at the end of the day would rather not share the drinking fountain with him

(and yes I meant that reference because I could make a whole separate speech about how poor white Appalachian people where treated as animals but that's a whole other thing)

I think Carol 100% saw him as a potential lover, this new world isn't kind to woman even before the turn so she saw he was young and strong and a provider she really did consider hitching her star to him.

Daryl didn't feel the same , Norman has said he feels very motherly towards her .

I think Beth was in turn the very first person that he loved and had feelings for (as said by Norman Reedus in his bio about the character)

Beth was innocent and Daryl needed someone who wasn't harden by life yet to show him the beauty of the world

Beth in turn needs Daryl to show her that being naive will get you killed and that she needs to learn to fight, that killing to survive isn't always a sin because " God will forgive you"

Corin Tucker grew up (mostly) in Eugene, Oregon. Her father is a musician of sorts and taught her folk songs at a sorely impressionable age. She went to Evergreen at 17 to study film and social change. She protested the gulf war, became a punk rocker and started a band called Heavens to Betsy. Some of the earliest songs she wrote were about having her period, working in a factory, and falling in love. She started Sleater-Kinney with the hottest guitar player to hit Olympia since Brett Lunsford. In 2000 she married filmmaker Lance Bangs, and their son Marshall Tucker Bangs was born in 2001. She loves chocolate, murder mysteries and heavy karaoke.

In 1996, Janet had the lucky fate of hooking up two hot guitar players who asked her to join their band, Sleater-Kinney. The Chosen Mutants VS Genocide

Dani Moonstar, Exodus, Lin Li, Rictor, Monet St Croix, Cypher, Laura Kinney, Emma Frost, Forge, Cable, Gorgon and even Mister Sinister are assembled and ready to fight Genocide, the son of Apocalypse. Mister Sinister looks at Lin Li and muses that the rough-and-tumble types need an altercation so he pats her back and goads her into attacking Genocide. However, as Lin Li charges in blindly, she feels that something weird is happening to her until she gets blasted point-blank by Genocide, apparently killing her. Then, Mister Sinister notices the building is ready to collapse and says a callous sarcastic remark. While Laura works on evacuating the people from the building, Emma yells at Exodus that he needs to act quickly. Thus, Exodus telekinetically picks up Genocide and throws him into the empty collapsing building. Below the building, Cypher manages to catch the little girl on time but he wasn't fast enough to run away from the falling debris above him. Fortunately, they are saved by Monet who punches the debris away from Cypher and the little girl. Then, both Cypher and the little girl are saved by Rictor who uses his earth powers to evacuate him and the civilians away from danger.

Since Cypher and the civilians are evacuated, Rictor tries to bury Genocide under a pile of rocks and earth but he gets blasted by the powerful mutant. Cable, Forge and Dani Moonstar are pissed-off at the seemingly-senseless death of Rictor and they attack Genocide all at once. Meanwhile, Exodus works on evacuating the civilians with his telekinesis since Rictor is out of commission. While Cable, Forge and Dani are still pouring their attacks on Genocide, Gorgon does a sneak attack on Genocide by striking him from behind with his sword. Then, the other X-Women - Emma Frost, Laura Kinney and Monet St Croix, jump down to crack Genocide's helmet, allowing Gorgon to hit him again with a sword. Unfortunately, their physical attacks did much worse when Genocide tells them that his shell contains bio-plasma and if he unleashes it, he would kill everyone else in his vicinity. However, Monet turns into Penance and charges at Genocide head-on to distract him while Exodus flies in to use his telekinesis to contain Genocide from exploding. Unfortunately, Monet is too busy in tangling with Genocide that she doesn't get out of the way so both Monet and Genocide disappear when the explosion occurs. Emma and others are upset with Exodus for callously allowing Monet to die. Exodus gives a halfhearted claim that Monet knew the risks of the tournament and she died a hero. Mister Sinister congratulates Exodus by giving him a pat on his back with a mysterious item which makes him collapse and seemingly-killing him. Now the remaining mutants are upset with Mister Sinister for his callous attitude and his backstabbing act.

Do you remember how in previous cases of incarcerable violence (including mass violence) by TIMs, news outlets would refer to the TIM with preferred pronouns (she/her) and call them "women" or "female"? Well, the child killer in the recent Nashville shooting turned out to be a TIF. Every article I'm seeing is avoiding pronouns like the plague and only referring to her as a trans-identifying female" who has male pronouns in her social media bios.

This is how I (and I'm sure many others here) would prefer this sort of topic be covered in the first place, since it doesn't obfuscate the truth. But it seems all too convenient to me that the first time I see journalism at large acknowledging a violent criminal's sex and trans identity rather than just accepting the criminal's "preferred identity" is in the case of a female violent criminal, when there have been many, many male opportunities for this before now that would make much more sense to call out, considering males are the ones who are more likely to commit violent crimes.

Unrelated to the murderer or her identity: It doesn't sit right with me to talk about this without acknowledging the victims. Six people were killed. Three children, and three adults. From what I can tell, two of the children were girls, one was a boy, two of the adults were women, and one was a man. From what has been publicized, the attack was not fueled by misogyny, but the matter of the fact is that more female people died than males. The victims include Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9; Hallie Scruggs, 9; William Kinney, 9; Katherine Koonce, 60; Mike Hill, 61; and Cynthia Peak, 61. Although I can't say I don't have my reservations about religious communities such as this one (as I'm sure they have reservations about people such as myself), the loss of life here is inexcusable and tragic, and my heart truly goes out to those who lost loved ones or now live in greater fear than anyone should ever have to. May the victims rest in peace.

formed in boston and currently based in somerville, my own worst enemy (aka mowe) is a female-fronted trio that creates dynamic indie-garage-pop using two electric guitars and drums - no bass - alongside strong harmonies, rapid-fire rhythms and occasional harmonica and twang. inspired by the boston music scene and by the likes of sleater-kinney, patti smith and the replacements, songwriters sue and steve started playing, writing and making four-track recordings after meeting at the middle east in cambridge. the duo added drums to the mix and began gigging, playing their first show at o'brien's in allston in february 1998. the cassette-only demo tape called "cinnamon" followed later that year. the band kept writing new songs and released treblemaker, a collage of loose, energetic demos and late-night studio experimentation in 2000. with a drummer change the following year, mowe survived on a steady diet of writing new material and sporadically playing live, releasing the 13-song no guarantees in 2003, produced by pete weiss and released on elis eil records.

my own worst enemy's straight ahead, d.i.y. approach to passionate, heart-on-your-sleeve songwriting and high energy live shows continues to evolve and move the band in new directions. the addition of a.j. on drums in 2005 gave the band a huge boost and again spurred a major songwriting flourish. the recharged trio hit the clubs and ultimately returned to recording with pete weiss once again behind the board at verdant studio. in the fall of 2007, mowe released its third record, total action, on pristine indigo records. positive reviews, college radio airplay, better gigs and a stronger live following were the result of their efforts.

using the momentum from total action as a springboard, my own worst enemy takes it's game to the next level with its 2011 full-length, electric like the moon. the eleven song record follows the band's blueprint of recording live basic tracks in the woods of vermont, working quickly and efficiently to produce a loose and real-sounding document of a band not over-thinking the process. this record picks up where total action left off and delivers a solid, up-tempo collection of modern rock songs in a fashion that only sue, steve and aj can muster. highlights include the band's epic ode to billy ruane, called "man of the hour"; a major-chord garage-rawk tribute to monoman and felice called "the kids don't care" and covers as only mowe can perform, by the smiths, lady gaga and tribe.

in late 2013, mowe released a limited-edition 45 rpm single, paul revere/angel of the underground. recorded and produced entirely in their hometown of somerville, ma. (at q division and armory sound) by pete weiss (who else??) the band continues to churn out the hits.

sue - guitar & vocals

sue's humble musical beginnings trace back to the fifth grade when she would play the folk mass at her church. after moving to boston for college, and years of recovery from having attended catholic school, sue picked up the guitar again with less sacred intentions. over time, she moved from working out bob dylan and janis joplin tunes to writing songs of her own, playing for an audience of one kitty (named nico) in her little studio apartment. sue's muses range from patti smith to r.e.m., billie holiday to husker du, leading to songs that are rooted in feeling, not formula. as a longtime supporter of local bands on the boston scene, sue has drawn inspiration over the years from favs like jen trynin, scarce, dambuilders and kristin hersh. although it's unlikely her songs will ever be heard at church services again, their purity and veracity cannot be denied. working with bandmates steve and a.j. allows sue's songwriting and vocalization to continue evolving in new and ever-intriguing directions.

steve - guitar & vocals

steve's earliest music memories are sitting up in a favorite tree listening to simon & garfunkel and the beatles on a snoopy am radio. second to the pop tunes of the 70s was the raw, exciting world of punk & new wave in the early 80s; high school afternoons were a crash-course in new music, digging through friends' vinyl collections that included the vapors, marshall crenshaw, pretenders, the clash and elvis costello. inspired by the music's originality and coolness, steve bought a juno 106 synth and began composing original songs, eventually swapping the keys for a guitar and four-track. after gaining degrees in liberal arts and english literature at umass, steve moved to providence and then to boston where there were great local music scenes going, all the while writing tons of songs and listening to alot of replacements, big star, uncle tupelo, teenage fanclub and guided by voices. eventually fate intervened: steve met singer/songwriter sue at a dambuilders/fuzzy show in cambridge. they have been writing and playing together ever since.

a.j.: drums, harmonica, backing vocals

a.j. remembers fondly a day long ago...ozzy osbourne's "crazy train" blaring from the radio...rocking out in his high chair...older sisters approving his behavior...thinking, "hmm...me likey." while much has changed over the years, that same pinball-machine effect seemed to spontaneously recur inside (sans high chair) upon hearing the likes of u2, the police, the beatles and the kinks. a drum kit received for high school graduation provided an antidote of sorts as a.j. let loose the full-tilt frenzy within. and later on, the clash, uncle tupelo, wilco, the stone roses (first album), the band and the shins proved beyond a doubt just how much great drums could impact and shape a song. since joining the band in march of 2005, a.j. is already making his mark on the songs of my own worst enemy.
