BIO:

Mateo grew up in Madrid on a little farm, he grew up with his two brothers and three sisters, being one of the two middle children. His parents did everything for their family. Things were simple and easy. Mateo was one of the only kids that had dreams of college. And he did just that. Things got hard for the family when he went off to school in Valencia. Most his older siblings moved away and his parents were up there in age. That’s when he made the difficult decision of leaving Spain and moving to the States. He was lucky, he got a job at a local university, and he made some unsavory characters, and he now works for one of the local crime bosses.

However his dream is to bring his family over, he’s working three jobs in order to bring his parents and youngest sister, he decided it’s his time to provide for them.

Brief Background: Mateo and his twin sister Isabella (”Izzy”) are the only children of Hector Caesar Lunez Diaz and Caroline "Carol" Diaz; their father was Mexican, and their mother was American. He is the oldest by ten minutes. He grew up in a very close-knit family, with Isabella as his best friend while they were children until the twins enrolled in high school.

Due to his lackbaid attitude, joking attitude, and preference of keeping in the background, many of his teachers got the impression he was just a jokester, not taking anything seriously, and he was happy to just play that persona, finding a certain amount of freedom not having to live up to others’ expectations of himself. After graduating high school, Mateo joined the Marines, completing a tour in Iraq during his military contract.

When he returned back to the States, his grandmother was sick, and he moved into an apartment with Izzy down in Tampa, Florida. He started working at his Uncle Luis’ auto mechanic shop while he attended school for his certification in the same field.

While he was overseas, he got into the habit of recording short vlog-style video messages for his family when they were not on lockdown. It was a habit he carried over when he returned to the United States. He makes videos about DIY car maintenance and repair, along with nature videos he takes of his walks, sometimes when he’s just strumming his guit and singing.

Personality: Boisterous, joking, a little bit of a troublemaker with harmless pranks but nothing too serious, very sarcastic, very protective of those he considers family--especially his sister, gives off the appearance he doesn't care or isn't paying attention but is actually very observant and works hard.

Likes: Spending time with family, Bowling, Fishing, Mojitos, Taking nature walks/hikes, Playing with dogs and cats, 80′s music, Huevos Rancheros.

Random Headcanons: -Calls his twin sister his baby sister just to rile her up. -Doesn't officially have any pets, but he takes care of stray cats that live in the neighborhood. -He plays guitar and can sing decently--not great but not embarrassingly bad when you take him to karaoke night. -Played baseball in high school. -Did a tour with the Marines, deciding to work at his uncle's mechanic shop after coming back to the States. -Has several tattoos, including a crescent moon on his shoulder with his parents and Izzy's initials written in. -Speaks English, Spanish, and Arabic.

PACIFIC RIM VERSE

Mateo works security at the K-Science Lab while Isabella works as a mechanic at the Shatterdome on the jaegers. He was offered the position due to his military record and his connection with Izzy.

MARVEL VERSE

After finishing his tour in Iraq, Mateo was approached by S.H.I.E.L.D. and persuaded his recruiter to look into his sister to join as well. The pair ended up assigned at the Triskelion, with his sister working as a mechanic and himself working security.

It takes Grant a moment to register Wymack's presence. When he does, it's at the same instant Wymack's inserting himself between them, calling out orders to cut it out.

For his part, Mateo obeys. He might roll his eyes, but he stalks off anyway. Grant files that away—Mateo will fight, but not in front of their supposed authority figure. Grant, in comparison, crosses his arms. Wymack hasn't earned anything from him. Not Grant's respect, and not Grant's fear either.

"Or what?" Grant says. This is the man who let Grant punch him, and still offered him a contract afterwards. Wymack recruits players who revel in red cards, players fresh off suspension for doping. Wherever Wymack draws the line, Grant would rather know it sooner rather than later. "I thought I got as many second chances as I want."

Wymack sighs. When he speaks, he doesn't sound surprised or upset. "How many do you think you'll need? Just so I can be prepared."

Grant scowls. Still, unlike Mateo, he doesn't leave. "This is my room, right? Do you have to be here?"

Wymack throws up his hands. Grant can't tell if it's in exasperation or surrender. Grant's other roommates have yet to show up though, and Mateo's God knows where. Wymack must feel the situation is diffused enough, even with Grant's attitude, because he backs towards the exit.

"No more fighting," Wymack says, on his way out. An empty threat, clearly, despite his pointed tone. "And when Mateo gets back, tell him you'll both have extra laps at our first practice."

Along with the stinging in his cheek, Mateo's knuckles ache when he actually makes contact with Grant's jaw. That'll definitely bruise later, but it's worth it to get a hit in. Fights aren't meant to be clean.

He barely has time to recover or make his next move before Grant uses his weight against Mateo and shoves him back, causing him to stumble hard enough that he can't block the next punch that sends him colliding into a desk.

All the air leaves Mateo lungs from the hit, and he wheezes pitifully as he clings to the desk. It's probably a sign he should give up, but he's already pushing off the desk to try again. He doesn't get too far when their coach appears in the doorway and steps between them. Wymack throws out a hand to stop Mateo mid-lunge.

"What the hell is this? Day one? Cut it out!" Wymack orders, shoving Mateo further back from Grant but not hard enough to make him fall. "Don't let me catch you two trying that again."

Mateo doesn't bother making any promises or apologies. He merely rolls his eyes at Wymack and steps around him to get out of the room. He needs some fucking ice.

Dr tounge - Dr tounge is dr teeth's whatnot counterpart, he is the leader of the groovy chaos band, And he plays the xylophone And he likes any cakes made out of biscuits. His headcanon voice actor is David Matthew Feldman, And his voice claim is mayor milford meanswell from lazytown.

Vegetable - vegetable is Animal's whatnot counterpart, he plays the spoons on many iron kitchen stuff, And he is just as Crazy as animal! No wonder they get along very well. His headcanon voice actor is Fred Tatasciore, And his voice claim is Taz from Looney tunes cartoons.

Yakim - Yakim is Zoot's whatnot counterpart, he is a quiet, burnt out and laid-back Guy just like Zoot And he plays the bongos, And he even has a soft side for Mateo. His headcanon voice actor is Adam Sanders, And his voice claim is Clifford from Clifford the big red dog.

Ibeeria - Ibeeria is Janice's whatnot counterpart, she is a peaceful hippie in the groovy chaos band and she plays any instruments with strings, And she is dating Easton Oliver. Her headcanon voice actor is John Roberts, And her voice claim is Linda belcher from bob's burgers.

Mateo - Mateo is Lips' whatnot counterpart, he is a very calm and gentle guy in the groovy chaos band and he plays the tuba, And he has a crush on Yakim. His headcanon voice actor is Craig Lowndes, And his voice claim is Conrod from roary the racing car.

Leo the axolotl - Leo the axolotl is Clifford's whatnot counterpart, he is one of Dermot's sassy and laid-back friends, And he even hosted a show called "whatnots tonight", and he is the unofficial leader of the whatnot hour gang. His headcanon voice actor is Khary Payton, And his voice claim is cyborg from teen titans go!

Una - Una is Vicki's whatnot counterpart, she is a polite yet often sarcastic girl who helps Dermot with The whatnot hour show, And she even often hangs out with Max since she sees him as her little Brother. Her headcanon voice actress is Siera Florindo, And her voice claim is Red from super why!

Frederick the toucan - Frederick the toucan is lindbergh's whatnot counterpart, he is the Lineworker and Installation electrician guy in the whatnot hour gang, And he is even with Jagger the Fox. His headcanon voice actor is Jeff Bennett, And his voice claim is toucan dan from Timon and Pumbaa.

Raiden the semi radio person - Raiden the semi radio person is Digit's whatnot counterpart, he helps Dermot with The whatnot hour gang, and he can sometimes be clumsy And clueless just like Digit. His headcanon voice actor is Amir Talai, and his voice claim is Alastor from hazbin hotel.

Max Gerbils - Max Gerbils is bean bunny's whatnot counterpart, he is a cute And innocent Gerbils boy that often wants to help everyone And anyone, And he sees Una as his big sister. His headcanon voice actress is Maria Darling, And his voice claim is roary from roary the racing car.

Jagger the Fox - Jagger the Fox is Leon Lizard's whatnot counterpart, he is a sassy yet sneaky and scamming fox who is interested in bikini woman and even hot macho men, And he is even Dermot's cousin even tho them two are not the same species, And he is even with Frederick. Kay listen everyone hear me the fuck out for a sec so i saw this theory by @/angeldrawsstuffs and its been in my head like all fucking day and I cannot stop thinkin about it and while finishing a rewatch of season 1b I got to Light of Nocturnia and I had the thought of ‘if Lunia is Logan’s mom then why the hell would she be a character parallel for Mateo why would their stories be so intertwined and not Logan if he were really her son’ and then it hit me like a sack of fucking bricks

I remembered the French bios we got of the characters specifically of Logan where it directly mentions why he is the way he is with Mateo. It’s all jealousy and a lot seems to come from a deep deep level of masked insecurity and loneliness

And honestly? What would be be more of a catalyst for Logan’s internal struggles than finding out that Mateo also got to be the spiritual favorite/sucessor to the biological mother he never knew and never got to know instead being stuck with two neglectful parents that hardly pay him any mind

You could even take it a step forward where Mateo also lost his mom but Mateo still gets to keep his sibling and the love and attention from his father two thing Logan also seems to be missing in his life all added to and on top of the everything else

It is also 1am and I am fundamentally known to read into things more than is necessary so i might be super far off but it was a thought I had

Astrid x Logan - yep. Lol ok but they way they bounce off of each other and challenge each other and honestly help the other be a better player/team mate and you could honestly say person is peak and so fun and they’re honestly pretty cute ngl. Total bi 4 bi couple imo Astrid x Zoey - they so have history in my head plus I think she’d totally be drawn in by Zoey’s mysterious act

Bro-TP: Astrid and Nova, have they interacted in canon? Nope but listen they’re so besties especially in regards to Night Bureau stuff i feel. Astrid and Albert, again they haven’t interacted in canon but listen I think Astrid would instantly be put in to Albert’s favourite kid placement what with her rough and tumble personality. Astrid and Cooper, idk just something with them both having perfectionism pressure but then I think they should bond over it and being able to break out from that pressure AND Astrid should introduce Cooper to fairytales to help him think of things to dream craft.

Unpopular opinion: ummmm I can’t think of any??? So uh just … her pegasus is named Rapunzel … yeah

One Thing: I know they already have a huge cast to manage but I think her and Royce should’ve had one or two more moments just so we could see more about that perfectionism pressure and what their relationship is like

My Brezziana backstory, written specifically for @thxrnking !! I'll try to keep it brief but uhhhh... it's a lot!:D

So in 2019 we were introduced to an interesting couple- these two.

If you are unfamiliar with these characters:

This is Rita Piña. First introduced in JD 2016 as the first Just Dance drag queen, she was the coach for Drop The Mambo.

And this is the coach for Love Me Again, from 2015. We have no canon name for him, so I named him Mateo.

Mateo and Leon (who I hc to be Rita out of drag) are the adoptive parents of Brezziana. I saw this because I totally see Brezz's love for orange and her iconic blue jacket being inspired by them.

Also should mention that most of this past this point is just my headcanons, so stick with me.

Brezziana was originally born to two young influencers, both of whom were severely under qualified to raise a child, especially one they found out was hard of hearing (this actually has some canonical value, there was a post on the French page with official art that gave Brezziana hearing aids), so they decided to put her in foster care in hopes she'll end up with more qualified parents. Leon and Mateo adopted her, and were big influences to her love of dance and inspiring others.

Her bio parents ended up having another child though.

Gabriela, P1 from Wasabi Alt from 2024.

I will DIE on the hill that Gabi is Brezz's little sister. Sane hair, similar color palette, both Dancity maps. That's enough for me.

Gabi was also given to Mateo and Leon, since theor parents decided that Gabi should be with her older sister.

Then, tragedy struck:3

Leon was taken away from them in an accident (she is the only drag queen not to make another appearance since 2019 in game) leaving Mateo heartbroken. Gabi was still very young, so Brezziana took it upon herself to pick up the broken pieces. She was going to be the strong one.

She spent her entire life being stronger, being the one to motivate others. She as an adult became an influencer, partially because it was the best job for her personality and partly because she kind of wanted to meet her bio parents (she never did).

That's why Nightswan targeted her giving spirit, knowing that no one had poured into her for years. All these people she was so strong for... yet who was strong for her?

AS FOR MY RAREPAIR.

Now. It's kind of odd, but no unwarranted judgement.

This is the Bad Habits coach from 2022 (also my personal favorite map). My friend @iconafvckinshard has given him the name Kam, short for Kameron, along with the coolest lore ever but that's for him to share not me. Don't want to steal his ideas or make them seem as my own. Just know I see it all as canon.

There's a few reasons I ship these two. Number one, both from Dancity. Number two, they're flow has a similar neon look to each other. And Number three.

All of their maps are choreographed by the same person, Jerky Jessy. But there's a difference between the two.

Brezzianas maps require so much strength, making you dig deep and give everything until by the end there's nothing left to give. Kams is also tiring, but more controlled. You need strength in your core, and you still have energy left after his dance.

While Brezziana gives until she litteraly can not, Kam knows when to give a little and when to give a lot. He's someone she can fall back on... when she learns to let someone else be strong for her.

Amelia Cutter - a geneticist and military contractor who forcefully mutates animals into bio-golems, either keeping them around as her personal soldiers or selling them off to various militaries around the world; also an ex-lover of Barrick von Grimshaw.

Daryl Pharmax - a crooked pharmaceutics mogul and rumored narcotics kingpin who specializes in incorporating animals, plants, and fungi into his own homemade medicines and rumored drugs and is escorted constantly by his Pharmacrons; similar in mentality to Zach but greedier, more cowardly, and a bit more childish.

Barrick von Grimshaw - a mentally unhinged big game hunter with a penchant for seeking the most dangerous animals and hunting them for sport, accompanied always by his loyal robot dinosaurs; also an ex-lover of Amelia Cutter.

BACKGROUND / BIO

Jake was born in Merrock on January 31st, 1992. The second child to Robin and Henry Fields. Apropos there happened to be a blizzard that day, forcing an at home water birth. The joke now being fetus Jake wouldn't come kicking in this world the 'normal' way. Mother Nature playing her part right out the gate.

Growing up (until the twins of course) Jake more or less walked to the beat of his own drum — a social kid with a bit of an arrogance that hasn't gone away — never found it hard making friends, one minute wanting the center of attention the next content with sitting in a corner nose deep in a comic book. More than content when more attention was divided between all the siblings. Actually sort of a picturesque upbringing, Robin and Henry supportive in whichever avenue their kids chose. Jake played sports, soccer, football, baseball — sticking only with football (because most his friends ended up on the team) in high school.

There though, Junior year Jake found theater. And the music room where he could hone in on what really excited him. Having picked up the piano at a younger age, he found interest in learning other instruments. (Favorite being the drums) He learned guitar, bass, how to write music. Jake joined a band in high school — Henry and Robin allowing them practice out their garage in the burbs. They played all over town, for dances, festivals you name it.

Highschool is where he met and fell head over heels— to a bit of a toxic degree- lots of romantic teens first and ups and downs with Ximena Serreno. Fellow party girl, someone who indulged fully along side him in wreaking havoc around Merrock. When graduation hit in 2010— Jake was out. Truly like a movie, he was going to make it big. (Full support from the fam) Or something like it in the big city. He broke it off with Mena, grabbed his guitar and bandmates and were Manhattan bound.

Jake dove head first into the music scene, joining a new band, the og's leaving or finding new passions, he landed with a steady three eventually. Even getting a little New York indie famous. Even embarking on small tours over the years. With age comes different responsibilities and the core 3 auditioning new members over the years - making ends meet all kinds of ways. On one of his many trips back home to Merrock, as usual, had a meet up with his ex and things ensue and by April 2019 Jake had a son, Mateo.

Jake wasn't there for his birth and by the fifth year of Mateo's life he'd still never met his son. Of course a lot of discourse around this within all parties involved. And up until present day, when it was more and more clear the dreams he'd held so close and deep were no longer in the cards, life pointed him back to Merrock. For now, back in his old bedroom — Jake is finally learning to accept failure and accept responsibility.

In the Aztec calendar system, the days in the year are separated into two consecutive wheels of time. One of 13 day signs influence a month of twenty. She governs the fifth day along with the twenty day cycle that starts on the day sign of Ollin. Was it then by coincidence that Mateo was born on a day under her supposed protection? Born in Tecate, Mexico. It seemed as though every other year would bring about constant hurricanes and earthquakes. His father being a head executive at an oil company allowed his family the availability to relocate away from one natural calamity before being met with another. It would also allow for Mateo to study in the United States, or whatever you're supposed to call having your ankles meet your ears for almost four years. His time in the states was cut short, being called back to shadow his father at the oil company's business meetings. Often times Mateo would be bored out of his mind, having to keep a rotating cast of office assistants to entertain him in between meetings. Heated whispers promising them a seat on his staff if he were allowed to sit on theirs.

Day Itzcuintli Itzcuintli is a good day for funerals and wakes and remembering the dead. It is a good day for being trustworthy, a bad day for trusting others of questionable intent.

One of his favorites and company hopeful was Hector Suarez. He was a promising man around the same age as Mateo. A little older, and perhaps a little more cunning. Mateo often had a knack at spotting who amongst the white collar bramble were the opportunistic type. It took one to know one after all. Hector, however, seemed too play this to his advantage. While Mateo pulled him towards his bed, promising what they both knew he couldn't procure, Hector would pull him away from the secret meetings formed to oust his father from the company. Panes of glass fogged each night in a luxury car as the fog of deception closed in onto Jorge in a sudden and swift removal. Mateo had woken up with the ground shifting under him, literally. It had seemed mother nature would join in striking down the family as well. The cliff where their manor had stood collapsed down into the polluted seas below. He would wake up in a hospital bed, the only one recovered from the monstrous wreck. He had no home, he had no job waiting for him. He was alone. Only thing he had was his body and it was one he barely managed to hold on to.

Things have been chaotic, to say the least, but getting into all the reasons why the start of this school year has been a mess and has taken so much out of me would take forever and I want to get to the tea question, but let’s just leave it at my classroom is so full of desks I can barely walk around it and the classes I am teaching just got finalized two days ago - several days into the school year. It’s been a lot of going with the flow, and the flow is going over a waterfall.

Anyways, onto the tea question. I am so excited you asked this.

My everyday go to that I buy in bulk and keep a large bag of at work is T2’s Melbourne Breakfast. It’s just a black tea blend with a little vanilla but it’s great, and perfect for mornings.

When I’m home with my loose leaf tea, my favorite is actually a fandom blend I found when I first joined the Lone Star fandom ages ago. This TK Strand blend (that I affectionately refer to as TeaK) is delicious and has so many flavors that work so well together. I have gone through several of the large tins of it and it never disappoints. Side note, there is a whole cast of these blends and I think I’ve tried them all. I did not hate any of them and really enjoyed most of them. (If I remember correctly Carlos and Nancy’s blends make really good iced teas, and Mateo’s and Marjan’s are tied for my second favorite spot.)

I don’t know if it’s really a blend because it’s not specific or uniform, but it’s generally 3 parts whatever loose black tea I have laying around (Scottish, Irish, or English breakfast normally) tossed into a tea pot with 1 part cream tea. But also I have never measure this so it’s really a go with your heart kind of recipe. This is one I like to let steep for a while so it’s extra strong so I can add milk and a little honey. Credit to @justaswampdemon for this one because we drank it every day while I was visiting and I continued that trend when I got back home.

For the rest you can never go wrong with Earl Grey (T2 also has a good blend for this, if you like a more lavender forward one) or a chai. And an honorable mention to any hibiscus herbal tea and Vahdam’s Turmeric tea, which I drink before bed on bad pain days.

Truly I could go on for so much longer, an alarming portion of my limited kitchen space is dedicated to my tea and I have no shame about it. My bio does not lie. Regardless, I hope you’ve enjoyed my tea novel and thank you for asking!
