Butterfly Kisses (Billy Gilmour)
Masterlist
Word Count: 400
Summary: You try to be mad at Billy for taking your phone to make a post on your instagram. (photo by @bellinghamjobe )
"What did I tell you about posting photos like that on my instagram?"
Billy's lips meet your neck. You forget why you're upset- no, you don't, because he's posted scandalous 'for your eyes only' photos on his Instagram. Well… not too scandalous. Just ones that are more possessive than you'd like posted, especially when you've not done any sort of hard launch yet.
"Just like showing off your masterpiece love, that's all. You telling me you don't love the fact that the world knows you’re off the market?"
You huff, crossing your arms over your chest as Billy's kisses grow softer, more tender and apologetic. His hands slide over your hips. You watch their descent in the mirror until they land on your thighs, fingers digging into your flesh beneath your white satin gown.
"You're lucky you're so cute." Billy hums, one hand sliding over your tummy to pull you flush to his front. "And so good at changing my mind." Billy's chuckle sends a warm breath over your neck. "And… and that I love you enough to overlook your digression."
It's not the first time you've said it, but it's still fresh. Warm brown eyes turn to molten copper when Billy finds your gaze in the mirror, his chin tucked against your shoulder. You know that look well by now. If it were any other day, you'd give in and retreat back to his bedroom. But today, you've got a dinner to attend.
"I love you too. The lads will be upset if we're late. We should get going, before they start calling and asking where we are." Billy fixes the strap of your dress, which had fallen down your shoulder thanks to his tempting kisses. You sigh, fixing your hair when he steps back to admire you. "This dress… bloody hell lass you'll be the death of me. Thank God it's got a slit up the side so I can at least have some entertainment during this dinner."
You laugh, but you know damn well Billy means every word. He possesses a bit of a wild, dangerous streak that you cannot help but encourage every now and again. You bend your knee, shifting your weight so the fabric falls away and exposes the better portion of your leg. Billy groans, raking a hand through his now messy hair.
"It's gonna be a long night."

More than a Champions’ Champion- Anyone you like
Today is the day I'm going to tell him I'm pregnant. I have known this since they won the second leg against Porto. A month ago. At that time, I was about four weeks pregnant; now I'm about to turn ten weeks. As much as I wanted to tell him, I managed to keep it a secret. Waiting for the best moment, which today seemed like the perfect time; because it was the Champions League Final against Manchester City.
I hadn't revealed it before; because with his tight schedule I didn't want to distract him, and just today as the season was ending it seemed like the right time, no matter what the final result was.
I was in the stands of the do Dragão stadium watching the game. I was so nervous, even though Kai made the leading goal in the first 45 minutes. Chelsea F.C. was winning.
The second time was complete madness. When the screen showed 7 minutes of additional time, I felt sick, but I managed not to puke. My nervousness disappeared and I felt relieved when the referee gave the final whistle.
All the Chelsea lads were running, jumping, and screaming, and so were us in the stand. We were so happy for the team. After the award ceremony, some of the players were going for their respective families or girlfriends. I stood looking at him standing in the grass looking for someone, for me. I waved at him to see me.
He came up to me, and as soon as he got close, he shouted.
“We did it! I did it!” his eyes were full of happy tears.
“Yeah, baby! I’m so proud of you!” I said as I too broke down in tears. This moment made me more emotional than usual. We hugged until we both calmed down.
“C’mon, let's go to the pitch with the rest,” he grabbed my hand to lead me, but I stopped him.
“Wait, there's something I wanna tell you” he turned around and looked at me. My hands started to sweat and I began to feel sick again. My nerves were playing me a bad trick, and I don't know why because I know he will be happy about the news.
“What is it?”
I took a deep breath, before playing with the words.
“Babe, maybe you did not score a goal today...but you did score” I was playing with the news hoping he would understand.
“What do you mean?” He looked at me confused.
“You scored a couple of weeks ago” he hit the jackpot.
“Yeah? where?” he still didn't get it.
“Your goal is in my belly” I placed my hands on my little belly. “I’m pregnant”
"Are you kidding?" he asked, looking at me expecting a sign of a lie, but I was serious. He realized what I had said and gave me a huge grin. "We're having a baby!" I nodded.
He hugged me and we started to jump for happiness.
“Wait, so all this time I told you your stomach seemed a little bigger and you told me it was swollen from something you ate...” I interrupted him, smiling.
“It was a little white lie”
“Oh my god!” I could see from the look on his face that he still didn't believe it but he was more than happy. “Today is the best day of my life!” he screamed and I laughed because all the people around looked at us.
“It's a win-win baby”
“I won the Champions League but also won the title of dad to be!” I was feeling emotional again, I've never seen him this happy. We both were over the moon. The baby was something we weren't looking for, but we weren't avoiding it either. We both knew it could happen at any moment.
He placed his hands on my cheeks, looked at my eyes, and added.
“Thank you, baby. You have made me, even more, the happiest man in the world. I'm anxious to meet our little bun; I know you will be the best mom on earth. Words can’t describe how much I love you and how thankful I am for having you.”
Tears began to run again as he was talking. He was the sweetest, kind and loveliest person I’ve ever met and I didn’t know what I did to deserve him.
“Thank you, for being by my side in all my ups but most important in all my downs. I’m truly, madly, deeply in love with you!” He placed a soft kiss on my lips.
“I’m truly, madly, deeply in love with you too!” I whispered and kissed him again.
“C’mon, let’s celebrate!” and we both joined the rest on the pitch.

——————————————————————————
comfort
/ˈkʌmfət/
noun
the easing or alleviation of a person's feelings of grief or distress.
temptation
/tɛm(p)ˈteɪʃ(ə)n/
noun
the desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise.
-
Sniffling under the duvet of your bed, you heard the door of your apartment unlock, knowing it could only be one of two people; your housemate Hayley or your best friend Mason, as they were the only other two people who had a key. You prayed silently that it was the former and that she would go straight to her room, so that you could stay hidden away for another while, ignoring the world in peace. But instead, it was the latter.
You weren’t always as anti-social and doom and gloom as you were being currently, but your ex and you had finally called it quits for good earlier that day; him not even having the decency to meet you in person to tell you that he had found someone else and that he’d had enough, rather doing it over a blunt text. You weren’t exactly surprised as he had been an dickhead for most of your relationship, that had lasted on and off for two years might you add. But it wasn’t all bad, so some part of you still wished for better. However better unfortunately just wasn’t in his nature. So you decided to go straight to bed for the evening to let out all your emotions and not speak to anyone. But your plans had changed as a sympathetic and compassionate looking Mason Mount was now stood in the doorway of your room, frowning at your heartbroken state.
Letting down what had sounded like a plastic shopping bag, he walked towards you and sat on the edge of the bed, close to your red and puffy face hiding beneath the fabric covering it. Refusing to show yourself and ignoring him, he attempted to peel the duvet back from you, each time getting nowhere as you protested.
“Hey, it’s only me! I got your text during half time. I’m sorry I couldn’t be here earlier than this Y/N.” he muttered. You didn’t budge, instead now sobbing even more.
You loved Mason. He was such a great friend and always tried to do right by everyone he came across as much as possible. Having being good friend’s with the Chelsea and England midfielder for just over a year now, you spent a fair amount of time with each other and he hated seeing you in this state. He also despised the man who had left you this way as did Hayley. They never saw eye to eye with him. Which was understandable. He was a prick, and you should have got away before now. But he was manipulative, always finding a way to convince you to stay anytime you had tried to leave before, and you did because above all you loved him and you thought he loved you back.
Mason’s teammates and best friends Declan and Chilly always joked that Mason was jealous of your ex as he had fallen in love with you, but you refused to believe it. He was just your friend, a friend who was now here after a game to take care of you.
“Y/N please talk to me. Come on where that pretty little face at?” he asked softly, rubbing the top of your forehead that was now visible unbeknownst to you. Deciding to show yourself now looking like a panda from the mascara on your face smudged from all the crying, he gave you a gentle smile.
“There she is.” he announced, causing the tears to continue down your cheeks. “Awh come here.” he said, now bending down and wrapping his arms around you, burying his head into the crook of your neck. You lay there in silence for a few minutes, Mason letting you break down as many times as you needed in his grasp.
Sighing heavily after getting all your emotions out, he lifted his face a little so that you were inches away. Pushing a few hairs out out of the way and stroking your cheeks, he began speaking again.
“We knew it was a long time coming huh?” he mumbled. “Still doesn’t make it any easier does it?” You nodded sadly. “Look, I know you probably don’t want to talk about it, and that’s completely understandable. We don’t have to. But I can’t have my best friend all cooped up in here by herself all sad. So I brought you some treats for later but for now I’m taking you out.” he half smiled this time.
“Mase I don’t really think that’s a good idea..” you trailed off. You didn’t think you were ready to face the world again just yet. It was going to take a lot of time to get over everything.
“Darling, I know you don’t feel like it but it’ll be good for you. Come on let’s go for a drive and a walk. The fresh air will do you some good.” he reassured you. You gave him a tired ‘okay’ and he removed himself from the room to let you get ready.
Sitting in the passenger side of Mase’s car, you remained silent once again. But it was a comfortable silence. He turned up the radio and Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Good 4 U’ was playing. Focusing your attention to the touchscreen of the radio from the window you were resting your head against, you went to turn it back down, but Mason took your hand and rested it back down on your lap, keeping his own still above it.
“Oh come on. You love this song.” he smirked, his concentration going back and forth to both you and the road, mainly on the road.
“Not today I don’t..” you sighed.
“Come on. Sing it as loud as you can, as if you were singing it to him.” He encouraged you.
Before you knew it, Mase had already started singing really badly, basically screaming the lyrics. You’d swear he was the one going through the break up the way he was carrying on. You knew he was just trying to cheer you up as best he could, and he definitely did, as you were now giggling at his horrible attempt. The two of you were now shouting the lyrics as loud as you could, the people in the cars next to you possibly thinking you were both going through a mid life crisis at the traffic lights. But in that moment you couldn’t have given two shits. All you cared about was living in the present with your best friend by your side. Pulling up to a secluded part of the beach front, you noticed it had started getting dark very quickly. You both went for a short walk down along the sea, Mason’s arm slung around your shoulder for the entire duration, pulling you in to his chest and making you laugh. For a minute you could have sworn you had forgotten all about your breakup and the hurt you were feeling inside.
Arriving back to the car, you went to fasten your seatbelt again but Mason stopped you. It was now very dark outside. Giving him a confused look, he told you to just sit for a bit. Connecting his phone to the car, he turned up the radio again. This time it was ABBA playing. Shaking your head at him, you couldn’t help but grin. He knew how much you loved the band and the Mamma Mia movies, even if he didn’t particularly fancy them. The song now playing was ‘Lay All Your Love On Me’. Once again he began singing like a dying cat.
“No no stop you’re ruining it!” you shouted over at him, now in stitches laughing. You started smacking him lightly, trying to get him to put an end to it, but he grabbed your hands so that you couldn’t anymore. Putting one arm around you, he pulled you closer, faces once again inches away, the two of you both breathing heavily. You gazed up at him, his eyes so welcoming. You had never thought about kissing him, he was your best friend after all and now probably wasn’t the right time to even try to considering what you were going through. But something came over you both, adrenaline rushing through your core.
“Mase…” you whispered.
“Yeah?” he asked delicately.
“Kiss me.” you pleaded, looking down at his lips then back at up at his eyes. He didn’t have to be asked twice, gently scooping up your cheek and eliminating the space between you both. You closed your eyes, taking every piece of him, his cologne lingering in the air. Attempting to pull away, he lured you back in, this time connecting your tongues and exploring your mouth. Taking breaks in between, you heard him whisper something to you.
“You’re worth so much more than you will ever know Y/N. I know for now you have to heal, and I promise you I’ll be right here with you every step of the way. But god, please someday let me be the one to treat you right.”
In that moment, it felt like the world had stopped. Your heart absolutely melted.
“Okay..” you smiled as he pulled you back in, giving you the spark you never knew you were missing.

For blurb week can I request “little things” with Billy gilmour and can it be about him making you coffee every morning and bringing it up to you in bed please
Word Count: 149 You and Billy had just settled in your new apartment in Norwich, getting ready for the new season ahead. Billy was downstairs making breakfast as he usually did most mornings he was available. “Morning darling” he smiled as he passed you over a cup of coffee. “Aww thank you Bil, I can see myself getting used to this. Coffee in bed” you teased. “Aww” he laughed as he climbed back into bed beside you as you both cuddled up drinking your coffees. “I like it here, maybe we can explore Norwich when you have some free time” you suggested. “I like it here too. Yeah that sounds a good idea. I know a few of the boys suggested we headed to some places. We can check them out if you want” you nodded in agreement. “Not just yet, I am enjoying my morning cuddles” you pouted. “Course” he smiled.

13. "Can I kiss you right now?" - Billy Gilmour
Dating Billy was complicated. He was a young footballer just making his name for himself and then suddenly he was a champions league winner playing in a major international tournament and the press were buzzing around him like bees around honey, constantly asking invasive questions and trying to dig up information on his private life.
For that reason he had convinced me that keeping our relationship on the down low was the right thing to do.
I had tickets to the Scotland group stage matches thanks to Billy and he said that he wanted me there to support him, but that felt like it contradicted his wish to keep our relationship private.
As I stood in the stand and watched as the defeated Scotland team walked around the pitch after the final whistle blew against Croatia I realised that I didnt really care about the press or the fans or anybody else's opinions of us. He was mine and I was his. That was all that mattered.
Billy must have had a change of heart too because he was jumping over the advertising boards and coming over to where I had been sitting.
I walked down the steps and passed one of the stewards to get to him.
"Oh Billy I'm so sorry."
"Can I kiss you right now?" He asked.
He didnt let me say anything else before his lips were on mine. His arm snaked around my waist and his other hand cupped my cheek.
As we broke apart he said "Fuck keeping us a secret, I want to show you off."

Top 25 Guitarists
When I thought I might do a list of my favorite guitar players I was originally going to do my usual Top 10 theme. However, upon giving this some thought there was just NO WAY I could keep it at 10. There are too many players that have had too much of impact on me to slight them with the obligatory “honorable mention”. So here we go with 25 heroes that collectively represent my landscape of influence. Since it is impossible to “rank” these fellows in any type of order of importance, as they were all severely impactful on me, I went with the risk free alphabetization method.
1) Jeff Beck – What a career! Decades of diverse and amazing music. He has a touch unlike anyone else. The highlights of my life are the Wired and Blow By Blow albums. Jazz rock fusion at its absolute best.
2) Ritchie Blackmore – Between Deep Purple and Rainbow, Ritchie has a mountain of stellar hard rock. His extended jams on the live albums are utterly electric.
3) Denis D’Amour (Piggy) – Piggy was such an original. Bringing dissonance and twist to heavy metal in way that had never been done before, or since really. His writing evolved beautifully from crushing noise to thoughtful progressive epics.
4) Warren DeMartini – His lead work on the first couple of Ratt albums is beyond belief. Flurries of cleverly phrased notes that just dazzle like no other.
5) Rick Derringer – The very definition of underrated. In the 70’s he was taking leads to places that hadn’t been done before and hardly anyone noticed.
6) Ace Frehley – Guitar Solos 101. While his skills were rather elementary, he had style for days. His solos add so much “cool factor” to Kiss tunes.
7) Billy Gibbons – May be my favorite guitar tone of the 70’s. Badass riffs and slinky leads that go down like a beer and a shot. He’s bad, he’s nationwide.
8) David Gilmour – His ability to squeeze so much emotion out of so few notes is unrivaled. The slow hand king.
9) Greg Ginn – This one is a curveball. Ginn has an anarchic quality that is so purely against the grain of the term “guitar hero”. Going for pure raw emotion over technique, structure, or even key. He brings to the table a true punk ethos, declaring a big “fuck you” to everything considered musically acceptable.
10) Guthrie Govan – The all-around best modern player in the world. Nothing is off limits for this guy. He can play any style and all styles are played with total mastery. He makes it look so easy and always looks like he’s having a great time doing it.
11) Jimi Hendrix – The first “guitar hero”. What’s left to be said about him? Pushing the boundaries of the guitar without really trying to, he was just being himself.
12) Alan Holdsworth – From another planet altogether. Dismantling jazz and rock lead theory to form an identity all his own. Dissonance and grace flow through his dancing fingers.
13) Jake E. Lee – While he is known for his great work with Ozzy, it was his band Badlands that solidified Jake in my guitar hierarchy. Excellent tone and an aggressive attack both in rhythms and leads. Making standard 70s styles feel fresh again.
14) Alex Lifeson – Always interesting, both technically and tonally. I love how his playing and his sound evolved along with the Rush. Just wonderful their entire career.
15) George Lynch – One of the unrivaled guitar gods of the 80’s, Lynch’s playing is fast and mean with uncanny twists and turns.
16) Yngwie J. Malmsteen – Brought neo-classical sensibility to the instrument and his impact cannot be understated.
17) Jimmy Page – Wildly imaginative writer with one of the most amazing resumes in musical history. Whether acoustic or electric, he was always innovating.
18) Chris Poland – What is this modal jazz soloist doing in a killer metal band? I don’t know but thank God for it.
19) Brian Setzer – The rockabilly king. Carrying the torch for true vintage rock and roll. And beyond that he is an incredible technical player as well.
20) Akira Takasaki – The beast from the East. Underrated in America. He’s brazenly aggressive with a sizzling tone.
21) Robin Trower – Another underrated gem. His chill psychedelic blues style just charms me to no end.
22) Steve Vai – The alien. Pulling notes and phrases from other worlds that no one has ever heard before.
23) Eddie Van Halen – Like Hendrix before him, he changed and broadened the entire landscape of guitar in the most severe way.
24) Stevie Ray Vaughn – Took the playing of your standard blues bar band guy and made it utterly lethal. His off the charts dexterity coupled with his uncanny sense of groove makes him beyond special.
25) Angus Young – Who knew you could play standard blues licks over three chord riffs and be so kickass at it that it becomes the most exciting thing you ever heard?

Over 270,000 people sign petition for France vs Switzerland to be replayed

Over 270,000 people sign petition for France vs Switzerland to be replayed

Over 270,000 fans have signed a petition calling on Uefa to replay the Euro 2020 last-16 match between France and Switzerland because “the rules (of the game) were not respected” when Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer saved Kylian Mbappé’s decisive penalty.
Mbappé’s miss resulted in the world champions crashing out of the tournament in Bucharest after leading their eventual conquerors 3-1 at one point in the match.
But a petition was launched by a disgruntled French fan, Pierre, in the aftermath of the penalty shootout, demanding that Uefa replay the tie because Sommer’s feet were over the line as Mbappe struck the ball. Goalkeepers need to keep at least one foot on the goal-line when facing a penalty, otherwise the spot-kick can be retaken.
Neither the referee nor Var intervened on Sommer’s save but more than 270,000 people signed the petition – which has now been closed – despite several different angles showing that Sommer’s foot was on the line when Mbappé kicked the ball.
The hosts of the petition, leslignesbougent.org, wrote that “Uefa had been officially approached to gauge its position on the matter”, and that Pierre had informed the host site that he wished for the petition to be closed after the angles showing the legality of Sommer’s position came to light. “Our servers exploded,” the site added.
The original petition read: “During the penalty shootout of the France v Switzerland match, goalkeeper Sommer was not on his line ahead of Mbappé’s shot. We ask that Switzerland’s qualification is cancelled so that the match can be replayed.
“Sport must be played within the rules and that evening the rules were not respected.”

Czech Republic v Denmark
Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand says the team is looking to Christian Eriksen as an inspiration ahead of the match against the Czech Republic in the Euro 2020 quarter-finals.
Story continues
Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s opening game of the tournament. Team-mates were left shaken after seeing him receive emergency medical treatment on the field.
Hjulmand says “we’ll play with that heart of Christian Eriksen once again.”
The winner will face either England or Ukraine in the semi-finals.

Boris Johnson says he has no plans to reduce Euro 2020 stadium crowds
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Friday he did not plan to order a reduction in crowds attending the remaining Euro 2020 matches due to take place at Wembley.
Crowd capacity at Wembley will be increased to more than 60,000 fans for the semi-finals and final of Euro 2020 under a pilot scheme announced last week.
“Of course we’ll follow the scientific guidance and the advice if we receive any such suggestion,” Johnson said in response to a question at a news conference, alongside German Chancellor Angela Merkel who said she was worried about Uefa’s decision to let more people into stadiums.
“But at the moment… the position is very clear in the UK, which is that we have certain events which we can put on in a very careful and controlled manner with testing of everybody who goes there.”

Germany midfielder Toni Kroos has announced his retirement from international football after his team’s exit from the European Championship, the 31-year-old said on Instagram.
The 2014 World Cup winner earned 106 caps for his country, contributing 17 goals and 19 assists.
Kroos said it was clear to him “for a long time” that he would not be available for the World Cup in Qatar next year.
He said his priority now would be to focus on his club career with Real Madrid and spending time with his family.

Emma Hayes signs new Chelsea deal
A revealed by Telegraph Sport in May, Emma Hayes, who has starred as a pundit at Euro 2020, has signed a new deal to remain as manager of Chelsea, the Women’s Super League champions have announced.
The 44-year-old has been with the club since 2012 and guided them to four WSL titles, two FA Cups and two League Cups. Hayes’ side were also Champions League runners-up last season.
She said on Chelsea’s official website: “Everyone knows what this club means to me.
“The work we’ve done together over the last nine years has been hugely rewarding, full of growth of the women’s game, accompanied with winning, which is one of the club’s key values. I really look forward to keep building on the successes we’ve already achieved and I’m delighted to have extended further.

“It’s been a year and a half without fans, so I can’t wait to welcome them back to our home and share with them the wonderful team we’ve built together.”
Having retained the WSL trophy and the League Cup in 2020-21, Chelsea fell short of adding the Champions League as they were beaten 4-0 by Barcelona in the final in Gothenburg.
That was a first appearance in the final for the Blues – who reached the semi-finals in 2018 and 2019 – and the first by an English club since Arsenal, who had Hayes as assistant manager at the time, won the competition in 2007.

Some more Premier League news…
Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour has joined Norwich on a season-long loan deal.
The 20-year-old impressed for Scotland in a goalless draw against England at Euro 2020 on June 18, before then having to self-isolate after returning a positive Covid-19 test.
Following his performance at Wembley it was reported that several Premier League clubs were interested in signing Gilmour on a temporary basis.
Newly-promoted Norwich have won the race for his signature and Canaries boss Daniel Farke feels Gilmour is a “perfect fit” for his Canaries team.
“We are really happy to have brought Billy in,” said Farke, who saw midfielder Emiliano Buendia leave for Aston Villa for £33million last month.
“We must say a big thank you to Chelsea and all those involved for making this deal happen. I think it helped that in the past we have shown that young players with potential are in good hands here at Norwich City.
Billy Gilmour – GETTY IMAGES
“He will help us to achieve our targets. We still have to keep in mind that he is an unbelievably young guy and that he hasn’t played regularly on this level. We have to give him some time and space to improve and find his rhythm.”
Gilmour made 11 appearances for Chelsea last season, starting three Premier League matches.
The former Rangers youth player was an unused substitute in both the FA Cup and Champions League finals as Thomas Tuchel’s side lost the domestic showpiece to Leicester but beat Manchester City to become champions of Europe.

England at full strength for Ukraine
Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad all trained on the eve of England’s Euro 2020 quarter-final against Ukraine.
The reward for Tuesday’s 2-0 last-16 win against Germany at Wembley is Saturday’s clash against Andriy Shevchenko’s side in Rome.
The Three Lions fly to Italy on Friday afternoon and the full squad trained at their St George’s Park base that morning.
Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell were among those in action, having left isolation on the day of the Germany match after coming into contact with Chelsea team-mate Billy Gilmour, who tested positive for Covid-19 after playing for Scotland against England.
Harry Maguire, Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips and Phil Foden are a booking away from a suspension heading into the quarter-final.
Manchester United defender Maguire, who was named man of the match on Tuesday, is set to join manager Southgate at Friday evening’s press conference in Rome.

De Bruyne and Hazard
Belgium boss Roberto Martinez will give Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard until the last minute to prove their fitness ahead of tonight’s Euro 2020 quarter-final clash with Italy.
Manchester City star De Bruyne suffered an ankle injury during Sunday’s 1-0 win over Portugal, during which Real Madrid’s Hazard also limped off with a muscle problem, and neither was able to train with the rest of the squad on Thursday morning.
However, speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the game in Munich, Martinez said: “We all know that we are fighting against time, but we’re going to take until the last minute to make the decision.
“Every day that goes by, every time they can sleep and get three meals and get some treatment, we see an improvement, and then we’ll see [today] if they can be involved or not. Unfortunately at the moment, we cannot make a decision.
“Obviously it will be difficult for [today] – a soft tissue injury in Eden’s case, maybe is difficult for a game like tomorrow, and for Kevin, having a ligament problem maybe is a bit different.
“But it’s more a medical decision. At the moment, it’s not a football decision; [today]it will become a medical decision in the afternoon and then we’ll make a football decision after that.”

Martinez could do with having all his most potent weapons available for a clash with an Italian side which is unbeaten in 31 matches, while both teams are bidding to become the first to win 15 consecutive European Championship matches since the start of qualification.

In case you missed it…
Neil Diamond told The Telegraph yesterday how “thrilled” he was that England fans were singing his famous ‘Sweet Caroline’ song at Wembley.
“Well, I hope you can do it again – here’s to England”, he told The Telegraph.
The 1969 song has featured in every England victory celebration at Euro 2020 and was a high point of celebrations after the team beat Germany 2 – 0 in the round of 16.
After the match, striker Harry Kane and coach Gareth Southgate both told the media how much they enjoyed hearing fans belt out the song in unison.

Alvaro Morata
As Sam Dean writes, Alvaro Morata has scored 21 goals in 44 appearances for his country. He has won 14 major trophies in club football. He has played for four of the biggest clubs in the world and he has been transferred between them for a combined total of more than £170 million. If he finds the net against Switzerland on Friday, he will become the highest scorer in Spain’s European Championship history. Everything about his CV, and his list of accomplishments by the age of 28, suggests that Morata must be one of the continent’s elite forwards. And yet, for many people, the former Chelsea striker still seems to be regarded more as a punchline than as a top-level predator.
Read about how Morata has emerged from the darkness in a bright, dangerous Spain side.

The Swiss are back!
Remember this bloke?
Swiss fan reacts to their victory over France
Topless and fully clothed, desperate and ecstatic: a Swiss football supporter has become a viral sensation after cameras zoomed in on his rollercoaster emotions watching his team beat France in the Euro 2020 tournament.
Found by Swiss media after images of him yelling and grimacing during Monday’s match went round the world, Luca Loutenbach has already amended his Twitter account to describe himself as the “Nati’s official meme since 28.06.2021.”
The Nati is the nickname for Switzerland’s national football team.
Loutenbach, 28, told Switzerland’s Blick TV that he was “just a normal fan”.
But those filming the game thought otherwise, zooming in on him several times during the play as he perfectly encapsulated Swiss fans’ ecstasy, dejection and frenzied joy – starting off wearing the Swiss red shirt and ending up topless and screaming.
The images quickly went viral, with London Mayor Sadiq Khan tweeting one with the comment “man of the match”.
“A star is born,” Swiss public television RTS said.
“Thanks for all your messages, what is happening to me is unreal,” he wrote Wednesday on Twitter.
“I’m actually quite discreet, even if that wasn’t on show during the game. So this is fun for one or two days, but I hope it will ease off a bit after a while,” he told Swiss TV.
Such is his fame that Switzerland’s airline Swiss has gifted him a free ticket to Russia to see his team play Spain in the quarter finals on Friday in Saint Petersburg.
The country’s tourism agency has also contacted him via Twitter to offer a relaxing weekend away in Switzerland.
07:18 AM
Good morning!
Hello and welcome to Telegraph Sport’s live coverage of the build-up to quarter-finals day, with the first two last-eight games kicking off tonight. Switzerland face Spain in St Petersburg at 5pm before Belgium take on Italy in Munich at 8pm.
England midfielder Jack Grealish said captain Harry Kane is the best player he has ever played with and tipped the Tottenham Hotspur forward to break the Premier League scoring record.
Kane drew a blank in each of England’s three group games at Euro 2020 but scored the second goal in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Germany which put them into a quarter-final clash with Ukraine in Rome on Saturday.
Grealish said Kane, or “H”, was a deadly finisher but also praised his work outside the box.
“No one here would ever doubt ‘H’,” Grealish told British media on Thursday. “He’s the best player I’ve ever played with.
“He’ll break the Premier League record and the England one but he’s not just a goalscorer. He’s unbelievable when he drops deep and finds passes and puts it through people’s legs.”
Alan Shearer is the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer with 260. Kane is seventh on the list with 166.
Grealish came off the bench to play a role in both goals in the win over Germany but the 25-year-old said he was uncertain if he would start against Ukraine, given the attacking options at coach Gareth Southgate’s disposal.
“It’s difficult. I’m always playing every minute at Villa. I have to be realistic about myself and the talent that we have, especially in my position,” he said.
“You’ve got six players that play either side of Harry that, in reality, could play for most clubs in the world — myself, Jadon (Sancho), Marcus (Rashford), Raheem (Sterling), Phil (Foden) and Bukayo (Saka),” he said.
“That’s scary how good us six are. That’s not being big-headed. That’s just the truth.”

England vs. Germany In The Euro 2021 Round Of 16 Match Lineups, TV, Streaming, Odds, And Forecasts
England vs. Germany: On September 16, this became the suit to watch for Euro 2021. When England and Germany meet, they don't hold back. And in this natural football rivalry born out of excessive-stakes fits in the main tournaments, Tuesday’s Euro 2021 round of sixteen elimination game has predominant implications. A loss could constitute a failure for both international locations. However, the winner may have an extraordinary shot at making the event final with less-heralded fighters (however much less dangerous) on the horizon: Sweden and Ukraine are in the quarterfinals, followed by Denmark and the Czech Republic in the semifinals. Euro 2021A loss could constitute a failure for both international locations. However, the winner may have an extraordinary shot at making the event final with less-heralded fighters (however much less dangerous) on the horizon: Sweden and Ukraine are in the quarterfinals, followed by Denmark and the Czech Republic in the semifinals. England is thought to have the most talented squad in its history, and it hopes to capitalize on that talent and win its first-ever Euros. This might be its first-class risk since it hosted the tournament in 1996: This round of 16, as well as the tournament semi-finals and final, are all taking place at Wembley Stadium in London.
Germany has won the Euro competition three times, but the last time was in 1996 when the Germans knocked off England in their own style at Wembley Stadium due to identification. They enter this round of 16 sports with plenty of question marks from an erratic institution level and a lame-duck headteacher (Joachim Low is leaving after the event). But they also have a protracted status recognition of rising as much as winning trophies, while others have counted them out. That German never-say-die spirit has intimidated many combatants around the world, and it's likely to return to play on Tuesday, albeit with England bearing the burden of the "favorite" designation and a legitimate cause. to playing domestic, Gareth Southgate’s group didn’t concede a single intention in its organization video games. However, it was not particularly convincing in terms of performance and goals scored. Blend all those ingredients together with a huge 40,000-person crowd expected at Wembley, and you’ve got yourself the makings of a classic.
How can I watch England vs. Germany in the United States? Date: Tuesday, June 29 Time: 12 pm ET ESPN is a television channel. Spanish-language TV: Univision, TUDN. Streaming: FuboTV, ESPN app, TUDN.television. ESPN will convey England vs. Germany in English, with Univision and TUDN presenting the Spanish-language coverage. Each network will need to be available on FuboTV (free 7-day trial). Starting Lineups England (three-4-3, left to right): Jordan Pickford-GK — Harry Maguire, John Stones, Kyle Walker — Luke Shaw, Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips, Kieran Trippier — Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka Germany (3-four-3, left to right): Manuel Neuer-GK — Matthias Ginter, Antonio Rudiger, Mats Hummels — Robin Gosens, Toni Kroos, Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich — Thomas Muller, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz.
How will Germany play? Low's most effective change to his 3-four-three starting lineup at some point at the group level was to move it to the front three. He brought on Leroy Sane for Thomas Muller in the third organized game against Hungary. The front three of Muller-Werner-Havertz will face England.Leon Goretzka is also a viable option for Ilkay Gundogan, who is still recovering from a head injury. Low needs to be expected to play on the counterattack against England, which explains the choice of the rapid Timo Werner (he is also fresh). The Muller/Sane choice changed into another exciting one, with Low ultimately choosing Muller's savvy to begin with. Sane will come off the bench. Southgate's choices England has developed unique formations beneath Southgate, and numerous English media outlets effectively predicted Southgate to counter Germany's three-four-three formation with an equal formation, introducing a third vital defender. There has been no agreement on which wing should be used.It turns out that Kieran Trippier will take the place of Bukayo Saka.Luke Shaw was chosen as the left wingback ahead of Ben Chilwell, who has been under pressure to self-isolate in recent days after being in contact with a COVID-19 great case case (Scotland's Billy Gilmour).Mason Mount, an English midfielder, has been in Chilwell's shoes and hasn't been educated very often. He was also not included in the starting XI. Many need to see Jadon Sancho inside the mix given his experience against German players for the duration of his time together with his membership group, Borussia Dortmund, in Germany. However, he’s performed six mins to date and if he, it's going to be off the bench. England vs. Germany: odds & predictions Southgate has been doing his best to downplay it, but this English group is under strain and the burden of expectations, the group and the history of failures will make for a charming dynamic and one which the Germans need to surely play into. Germany could be satisfied with sitting again and letting England have the initiative and the ball. In that scenario, Low’s men will look to pounce at moments of high pressure and on lightning-speedy counterattacks. German attackers Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, who each play for Chelsea FC in London, have the skill set to shine in that form of the game. England also doesn't have much of a home-discipline advantage: it hasn't beaten Germany at Wembley in the last seven meetings.Given the English team we’ve seen within the organization — tight, worrying, and unsure of itself — this isn't always a gap you want to widen towards Germany. England has recently "delivered it home," but it won't get this pregame prediction until the country's squad has proven that it has its own many complexes and is comfortable strutting among Europe's elite. Prediction: England 1, Germany 3 Odds courtesy of DraftKings - England to win (90 mins): +138 - England to improve: -one hundred thirty - Draw (90 minutes): +230 - Germany to win (ninety mins): +210 - Germany to strengthen: +110 - Germany will win, and each group will score between +500 and +500. - Germany -zero.25 Asian Handicap: +165 - Germany +0.25 Asian Handicap: -124 - Over 2.five total goals: +108 - Overall ball possession by way of Germany is under 51.5%: +one hundred twenty. Euro Final - Ben Chilwell
This whole tournament has been full of ups and downs for Ben. Starting with his absence from the bench in England's first game, everything seemed to be going well in the next one when Southgate finally put him on the bench. But as I said, all seemed to go well because, after that game, Ben had to isolate himself, and if things weren't already difficult just because he couldn't see his family. Now he was deprived of seeing, and training with, his teammates. He had to stay alone in his room.
I always admired Ben for his strong mentality and positivity, but with everything that has happened to him these past few weeks, I started to worry about his mental health. He had to miss a game, and in the next game, when his isolation was over. He reappeared off the bench. Honestly, I lost faith that Ben was going to be able to make his major tournament debut after being isolated for having contact with his clubmate Billy Gilmour who tested positive for Covid.
If I lost my faith, I couldn't imagine how Ben would feel. Every time we talked on the phone or FaceTime, I knew we were both lying. I knew he was trying to sound positive about all this stuff and that it would be a matter of time before I saw him play. Because that's what I told him and what he told me, I don't think either of us wanted to face that reality, so we lied to ourselves in a way that didn't hurt us.
Every time I hung up, I started crying. And every time I saw England's starting line-up, I was pissed off. I was angry because I knew they were wasting Ben's talent. After all, he had had an incredible first season with Chelsea and because he played a big part in the Champions League final. I knew Ben deserved to play, more than some of his teammates, I knew he had all the weapons to prove he deserved to play in the Euro, yet they deprived Ben of playing and showing his skills.
As England progressed in the tournament, I had a lot of mixed feelings; I was sad, angry, and happy. And when England beat Denmark in the semifinals, I was very happy. I felt this would be Ben's chance, or at least I was trying to convince myself. I was happy for him because after everything he's been through in this process, and playing or not, he deserved it as much as the rest of the team because they were all making history.
The final match arrived and I was on my way to Wembley Stadium, wearing my England jersey with my boyfriend's last name on it. I had a knot in my stomach, my palms were sweating, and all the noise was overwhelming. After being stuck at home for so long with no social contact, this was a bombshell for me and was making me anxious. If it wasn't for Ben's message, I definitely would have freaked out.
Ben
"Breathe in and out Y/N."
Your message came at the best time. As I inhaled and exhaled, I imagined a moment of Ben, so I could relax. Eventually, that relaxed me. I started breathing normally and feeling better.
"We're not together but I know all these people are going to scare you. It's more than we're used to in the last few games, and it's a hurricane after over a year of not socializing... And I don't want you to pass out again."
After a long time watching the games from home, when we finally had the opportunity to go and watch a game, which was also the FA Cup final. The number of people that attended to watch the game was not even half of the number of people that attended today. That day, I remember I was walking down the aisle to enter the stadium when I started to gasp for breath. We were still in an open area, but all those people made me feel like I was in a room where the walls were squeezing in. I was also wearing a mask that made breathing difficult, and a few seconds later, everything went black. The last thing I remember is waking up in the team infirmary, and at halftime, Ben went to see if I was okay.
Another message brought me back to reality.
"I'm off the bench again, but I trust this team, and I know we're going to bring it home. Besides, I don't mind not playing if I'm finally going to get to hug you."
I read his message and replied to it as I walked around the stadium to find my seat. I was sad for him because all his chances of playing were now zero.
Me "Oh, babe. I'm sorry to hear that, but I know you'll make the country proud. I'm so sad that my vacation break from you is coming to an end."
I replied sarcastically. I couldn't wait to feel his strong arms wrapping around me. I was eager to feel his warm body and his perfume, I mean his perfume is all over our house, but it sure isn't the same. It's not the same fragrance when it comes from Ben's body.
Ben "If you prefer, you can stay at home while I go to Ibiza."
Me "I'm not letting u go without me."
Ben "If your good to me, maybe I can take u with me."
Me "I think it should be all the opposite."
We exchanged a couple more messages until I found my seat and the game started. Minute 2 and England scored! Luke Shaw gave us the lead. It was too early to think about the trophy but, it gave us hope. Unfortunately, in the second half, Italy scored and tied the game. Time passed, and it went to extra time, which led to penalties.
We were waiting for the penalties. My heart was racing, my hands were sweating, and my stomach was burning. From goals and missed shots, happiness turned to sadness. We lost, England lost. Italy was now the new champion of Europe.
As soon as the ceremony was over. I ran to the room where the post-match dinner with the families was to be held, and where the players would finally see and have contact with their families. I couldn't wait to see my man, to hug him, but most of all to comfort him. It was a hard blow, but I was proud of him and the whole team.
I opened the door and looked for number 21. Ben's number. I was about to take a step when a voice behind me stopped me.
"Looking for me?"
I turned around immediately. I knew that voice perfectly well. It was the voice I had missed for over a month. I rushed into Ben's arms and burst into tears.
"I missed you!" I murmured into the crook of his neck.
"I missed you too, like crazy." He kissed my forehead. "These days have been hard without you."
"I know, and I'm sorry for what happened, although I'm still proud of you."
"None of that matters anymore, when I can finally be with you" we both smiled. I was more than happy to finally see that beautiful withe smile and those blue eyes that made me fall in love every day. "Shall we get in?"
"Yup," I said, taking his hand. "A well-deserved dinner. I still can't believe you guys made it to the finals."
"It didn't end the way we hoped, but it's still something I'll never forget, and I'm proud of what we accomplished."
After all of Ben's ups and downs, I was glad to see him smiling and positive. I could tell he was looking forward to the vacation because I was too. He has worked so hard these past few months that he deserved a break.
We walked into the lounge to join the rest of the guests.

Hello!! Could I please get this prompt with billy gilmour 💞
“They set you up on a date with one of their teammates but realising they’re in love with you when they see you getting ready.”
Envy - Billy Gilmour
Prompt: They set you up on a date with one of their teammates but realising they’re in love with you when they see you getting ready.
Listening recommendation: Chicken Tendies by Clinton Kane (slowed).
Warnings: fluff, swearing
——————————————————————————
envy
/ˈɛnvi/
noun
a feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else's possessions, qualities, or luck.
Billy stood behind you on the other side of your bedroom, leaning against the new chest of drawers you had just bought from IKEA. Watching him in the mirror in front of you as he buried his head in his phone, scrolling endlessly on what you could only presume was Instagram, he was double tapping like there was no tomorrow, sighing furiously to himself.
As you placed the other earring in your ear, you decided to strike up a conversation with him before he took an asthma attack from all the heavy breathing he was doing.
“Anyone taking your fancy on there then?” You asked him in reference to his social media session. He let out a blunt ‘nope’, head still glancing at the device in his hand, his arms crossed. His eyes remained fixated on the screen.
“Someone’s moody.” You chirped, brushing down your little black dress and sitting on the end of your bed to put on your heels. Still not a peep from him. Hair getting in the way of your vision, you asked him to come over and help you get ready.
“Hey loser, help a girl out here?” You raised your eyebrows at him. He simply took a brief look at you and sighed again, before putting his phone down on the dresser top and shuffling towards you. Bending down so that he could do up the tiny straps on your feet, you noticed how tense he was. When he had the second shoe done, he stood up in attempt to quickly make his way back to his initial position.
“Hey.” You said sharply, pulling his arm back. Looking at you with what you could only describe as a death glare, you frowned. “What is going on with you. You’re barely saying a word to me and you seem pissed off with me?”
Billy had confidently set you up on a date with his Scotland teammate Kieran Tierney, as you had joked a week or two beforehand that you thought he was good-looking and you were tired of being single. Billy had no objections nor did Kieran and tonight was exactly that night and however all of a sudden, he had seemed so off. You weren’t exactly expecting the date to go anywhere as such, but it was nice to be getting out of the house with someone and you liked to think anything had potential.
“I’m not!” Billy exclaimed, with less expression than a brick. You rolled your eyes, knowing full well when he was lying.
“Really? Because your face and your attitude towards me tells me different.” You voiced back at him. He stayed quiet, refusing to look you in the eyes again. Shrugging your grip off him, he hiked back to his phone and picked it up, before sitting in the rattan style chair in the corner of the room closest to the door. You shook your head and started gathering your purse and the few makeup items you were bringing with you into your handbag. You couldn’t understand his bizarre actions but decided not to push on the matter further. If he wanted to act like a child, that was fine, at the end of the day he was the one who set the date up when he didn’t have to if he had a problem with it and you refused to let it ruin your night. Besides, what reason did he have to be annoyed about it? You understood it was his teammate sure, but it’s not like it was a big deal? You never had any objections to who he chose to date. And it’s not like he wanted you himself in a romantic way. If he did, he would have said something sooner. Or at least he should have. But knowing Billy, the chances of him actually plucking up the courage and saying anything at all regardless as to when it was were very slim. So as of now it was too little too late.
Realising he was probably just being salty because he had no plans for the evening and that he would probably snap out of his mood within the next few days when he was doing something productive himself, you put your bag on your shoulder and walked to the full length mirror pinned to your wall. The mirror was in very close proximity to him, but he was still ignoring your presence.
“Okay.” You took a deep out. “Ready.” Glancing at him out of the corner of your eye to see if he was going to pay you any attention at all, you kept fixing yourself. Still. Nothing.
“Well..” you began, now directly facing him. His eyes slowly lifted from his phone to your towering figure. Twisting his lip, he simply just replied with a ‘what?’, stirring up a tornado of anger and sadness inside you. He was your close friend for gods sake? Why wasn’t he complimenting you? Why wasn’t he telling you you looked nice? Why was he acting like a spoilt and entitled brat? Why was he in such a mood with you?
“How do I look?” Your eyes widened.
“Good.” he replied. Just a plain and simple, good. Sighing on exhale, you had decided you had had enough. Grabbing your jacket and whatever else you needed, you began to make your way towards the door. You could feel his eyes now watching your every move like a hawk, the most attention you’d gotten from him since he arrived at your house that evening. Why did he even bother coming if he was going to be like this? You had invited him to come over as you were nervous about going and he agreed, telling you he’d stay there until you got back in case the date went sideways, so it made no sense to you.
“Wait-“ he spoke, finally breaking his silence. Hand on hip, you turned your head to face him. It was your turn to be short with him.
“What?” you asked sharply.
“You look beautiful Y/N. Honestly, you do.” he edged out of his seat. Your eyes now fit to well up with tears, but you weren’t sure if it was because of his words or because you were confused and infuriated by his previous actions. You just felt let down by him. Sitting back down on the edge of the bed, you stared down at your feet, refusing to regain eye contact. He made his way over and sat beside you, quickly taking your hand.
“I’m sorry,” was all he could muster up, a tear now trailing down the side of your warm cheek.
“Why? Why are you acting like this now?” You asked, not sure if you were prepared for his answer.
“I don’t- I.. I just.” he commenced but couldn’t continue.
“You what Billy? Just spit it out. You’re supposed to be my friend.” You we’re adamant now.
He nodded slowly. “I know. That’s the thing. We’re friends, nothing more. But I’m not sure I can handle seeing you with somebody else. Look, Kieran he’s, he’s my brother, and he’s a great guy. He’s older than me. Probably better looking too. But, I just don’t want to see you get hurt by him.”
You furrowed your eyebrows. Why was he only saying this now? And what did he mean ‘hurt by him’?
“Billy what are you saying? I don’t understand. You set the date up? Why are you annoyed about it now? And why would he hurt me?” You asked.
“I don’t know. He probably wouldn’t. I just, I hope he treats you the way you deserve to be treated. And I’m saying this because, I-“ he trailed off again.
“What?” You mouthed sternly. He looked down at your hand that was still placed in his and then back up at your now very teary eyes.
“I don’t want you to go on the date with him. I know I set it up. I know I said I was okay with it, and I was, at least I thought I was but tonight, seeing you get all dressed up for somebody else, it just. It made me realise that I want to be the only one who talks about how great you are in that dressing room. I want to be the one you’re there for at matches watching on in the stadium. I’m in love with you Y/N. And I know you’re probably thinking this is coming out of nowhere and I’m just being selfish now that my mate has the opportunity. But that’s not the case. I know it’s too late and you can still go I understand I just..”
You bit your bottom lip and turned your head, looking to your side. Shaking your head, you turned back to face him.
“Billy Clifford Gilmour, you are so lucky Kieran text me to say he was going to be running late. Oh and you’re lucky I love you too.” you smirked.
“Really?” His eyes widened, a smile now on his little face. You nodded.
“I’ll text him and tell him that I have to cancel. And I’ll tell him when I see him that his best friend has got in the way of things.” You nudged him. He chuckled. “Of all days you choose to tell me you love me.” You joked.
“As I’ve said, I only realised watching you get ready that i’m the only one I want to see you with. Also is that the dress I gave you?”
“Mhm-hmm.” You nodded.
“I really like it on you.”
Now wiping away tears from your face, he pulled you in closer to him so that you lips were just an inch away from each other. Beaming at you, foreheads touching, you closed your eyes, and with that you were connected exploring each other, sending fireworks throughout your core.

A/N: I really don’t like this at all but I hope it’s okay for you pretty 🧚🏽♀️

Word Count: 123 You were getting changed in front of Billy for the first time, you felt immediately insecure. You had always been insecure about the size of your boobs, they were too small. As you were taking your bra off, you felt Billy watching you. You wanted the ground to swallow you up whole, you felt really embarrassed as you hated the way your boobs looked. “Are you okay? if you don’t feel comfortable we don’t need to do this?” he asked as he saw you nervously standing there. “Hmm, I just don’t feel okay with the way I look” you mumbled. “It is okay, I would rather you being comfortable than anything okay?” Billy reassured you. “Thank you” you whispered as you cuddled him.

Southgate used solely two of his 5 substitutions throughout a sport through which England managed just one shot on track all through and have been outplayed by their guests, who’re the third-lowest ranked aspect at Euro…

The Final
By: Caetano Sanchez
“They’ve done it!!!” screamed the commentator. Chelsea FC will be competing in the Champions League Final for the 3rd Time in their history! The fans have gone absolutely insane!” Chelsea FC fans started pouring into the field and they were going NUTS! Security was overwhelmed, you could hear thousands of cheers from outside the stadiums that came from TV viewers, it was ballistic! I was very disappointed not to play, but it was becoming more and more normal for me not to play. Coach would think about playing me, get nervous that I might not perform and put in our oldest, but most experienced player at the last minute. On countless occasions, I had asked for a transfer but no one made me an offer. I was getting seriously depressed; it hurts so much from how quickly I went from hero to zero. I was unhappy with my contract. I wasn't getting the playing time that I needed in my career and I was in my PRIME! Coach was playing some veteran that was long past his playing days. No disrespect to him, he’s a football legend but he just doesn't keep up with the new generation of footballers. Anyway, in my mind, I knew coach was going to pick him for the champions league final. And it made me frustrated!
We had about a week until the final so we were supposed to practice until we got on a plane to Istanbul for the final on thursday. And then we would play the final on Saturday. Then something on Wednesday changed the course of my life. We were finishing practice, doing our last drills and I was NOT looking forward to getting on a plane to Turkey, getting airsick, not even Play a MINUTE, and then potentially lose this final. Anyway, you will not believe what happened in that moment. Billy Gilmour, the veteran that was replacing me, tore his ACL making a challenge for the ball, Mason Greenwood was about to kick it, but Gilmour came at the last second and Mason got him with his cleats. The Scottish legend fell to the floor, whimpering. The English-man that had injured him apologized about a MILLION times, We all went to check on him. Suddenly, I realized I would be playing the final.
We had arrived at the stadium and we were in the locker room getting ready. Coach came up to me and said that he was sorry, and he told me to go out there and prove him and the critics wrong.
In the tunnel, we were about to enter the pitch and I started sweating profusely, we were facing Real Madrid, arguably the best team in club football history. The Spanish giants had won MANY trophies over the years and they were the sure favorites. But we had 2 advantages: team spirit and a crazy scottish man with a cast cheering for us on the sidelines. Can you guess who it was? 35 year old Billy Gilmour. The game started shortly, you could see the nerves were there from the start. Real Madrid opened the scoring in the 18th minute of the game. The shot was from 20 meters out and it was an absolute ROCKET into the top corner. “Someone call NASA, because that was an absolute rocket!” Exclaimed the commentator. Then, right before the halftime break, Alphonso Davies made a blistering run down the left side of the field, he passed it to me. This is it. This was my chance to prove everyone wrong. I heard booing every time I touched the ball. I beat one defender and I was in the clear! But unselfishly, I passed the ball to my teammate who just had to tap it in. A 3-year old could have scored it. Anyway...where were we? Oh right! “GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL” screamed the commentator “Chelsea have equalized with a magnificent team goal!” That was the last kick of the half. In the dressing room, everyone looked very confident. “All right guys, so we scored a goal against one of the best defenses in football history. But we still have work to do.” Said coach. The room instantly turned quiet. I won't bore you with all the tactics he explained, but he said something inspiring to me that made me want to win this even more. “You win, you’ll have a successful career with many titles. You lose, and no one will remember you. Now, go out there and win” he said, smiling like a dad when he sees his kid take its first steps.
We had walked on back to the pitch and I was ready. We had no action until the last 5 minutes of the game. Real Madrid had the ball, they strung together some beautiful passes and cracked our defense open. Suddenly, the Real Madrid attacker was in the clear. I closed my eyes as I slid in front of him. I thought for sure I was gonna tackle him and they would get a penalty, but no! I had blocked a certain goal with my right thigh. It was a corner though. They crossed the ball into the box and, for a second, time froze. A Madrid player got his head to the ball and directed it towards the back post for a teammate to poke it in, he did that and the ball fell in front of a Madrid player who was 4 feet away from the goal! Scrambling as fast as he could the goalkeeper made an incredible leap to get a hand to it! Time froze again. The ball bounced off his hand...hit the post..and...was cleared of the line from our defender. Suddenly, we were on the counter attack, we were all pushing up, since it was the last play of the game. Vinicuis Junior, the substitute was sprinting down the wing. The pacy Brazilian juked one defender before passing it off to Erling Braut Haland the norwegian superstar kept the defenders occupied and waited for someone to make a run. I saw a tiny gap between the 2 defenders and asked for a pass. Haland played a pinpoint pass and I was alone with the keeper, then I felt a tugging sensation from my back! Apparently, a defender had pulled my shirt, and tugged me to the ground! “TWEET!” “Penalty” ordered the referee. Immediately there were MILLIONS of boos from the Real Madrid fans. Haland was about to take it when he did the nicest thing ever. He gave me the ball and told me to take it. I couldn't believe it. With ONE kick of a ball I could be loved or hated. I couldn't handle the pressure, I looked over at Billy Gilmour and he looked at me and gave the warmest smile possible. I took a deep breath, stepped up to take it and buried it in the top right-hand corner. “Oh I don't believe my eyes! The biggest upset you will ever see! Chelsea FC! Chelsea FC! Oh you are not a football club, you're a family!” The commentator was about to die from not giving his lungs air but he didnt care. Chelsea were “CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!” And I had done it. I looked at Gilmour one last time and I didnt see jealousy. I saw pride. And when I looked into his face I saw a mentor, not a person that ruined my career.
CHELSEA FC VS REAL MADRID
Who will be Champions Of Europe and receive the piece of silverware?

ePL Invitational: Jofra Archer storms into last 16; Jose Enrique to star for Liverpool on Wednesday | Football News
Follow Wednesday’s action, including Raheem Sterling vs Wilfried Zaha, on SkySports.com and Sky Sports Premier League
Last Updated: 05/05/20 10:00pm
Jofra Archer enjoyed a storming win as he powered past Rolando Aarons and into the last 16 of the ePL Invitational. What can we look forward to on Wednesday?
On the first day of the second week of the tournament, which provides the unique opportunity to see Premier League players put their FIFA 20 skills to the test against one another on the big stage, three teams progressed to the last 16, with Callum Wilson’s tie with James Maddison postponed due to technical issues. The two will face off on Wednesday morning.
West Ham (Spencer Owen) 1-3 Tottenham (Ryan Sessegnon) 1:55 Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon beat YouTuber and West Ham supporter Spencer Owen in their first-round match
Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon beat YouTuber and West Ham supporter Spencer Owen in their first-round match
Two goals from team-mate Harry Kane put Ryan Sessegnon into the last 16 of the ePL Invitational, in a game of clinical finishing from the visitors.
Despite having 11 shots to West Ham’s eight, Sessegnon’s Spurs recovered from Manuel Lanzini’s equaliser on the stroke of half-time, cancelling out Kane’s opener, to bounce back with another from Kane after the break, before Heung-Min Son’s third set up a last-16 tie with Max Aarons on Thursday.
Burnley (Charlie Taylor) 2-1 Arsenal (Micheal Ward) 1:35 Burnley defender Charlie Taylor earned a narrow 2-1 victory over Top Boy actor Micheal Ward representing Arsenal
Burnley defender Charlie Taylor earned a narrow 2-1 victory over Top Boy actor Micheal Ward representing Arsenal
Late pressure from Top Boy actor Micheal Ward was not enough to earn the Arsenal fan anything more than an early exit from the ePL Invitational as Charlie Taylor’s Burnley enjoyed a Chris Wood-inspired victory to reach the last 16.
Wood fired Taylor’s Clarets in front but an Alexandre Lacazette strike just before the break levelled things up, only for Wood to be denied – perhaps ironically – by the woodwork after half-time, allowing Jay Rodriguez to tap home a winner which sets up a clash between Taylor and Manchester City’s Phil Foden on Thursday.
Newcastle (Rolando Aarons) 1-4 Manchester United (Jofra Archer) 2:37 England bowler Jofra Archer showed off his gaming skills as his Manchester United side beat Newcastle’s Rolando Aarons in the ePL Invitational
England bowler Jofra Archer showed off his gaming skills as his Manchester United side beat Newcastle’s Rolando Aarons in the ePL Invitational
Jofra Archer enjoyed the result of the day – and revenge for Manchester United’s 1-0 Premier League defeat at Newcastle earlier this season – with a 4-1 thrashing of Magpies winger Rolando Aarons.
Anthony Martial set the tone with a fine strike but Aarons’ side pegged their visitors back before half-time when Dwight Gayle netted a rebound.
Nemanja Matic proved an unlikely scorer after the break to restore Archer’s lead, before Marcus Rashford and a Martial second put him through to face Sheffield United’s John Egan on Thursday.
How does the draw look?
