I said I was gonna talk about misconceptions about Martha Jones so now I'm gonna.

The Smith and Jones Tardis scene:

Martha's theme is playing. It's smooth, sultry and very underrated. Everything is going swimmingly, right up until Martha is literally too smart for her own good. She sees the Tardis console, the size of the place and immediately asks if anyone else on board. To help fly this thing? I need to stress here, that it is the Doctor that has a very hostile response and starts adding all these ultimatums to Martha travelling with him. Outside he says "fancy a trip" which every viewer probably did not read as a single trip, as one of the most used promotional material for the newly revived Doctor Who was the "trip of a lifetime". But after Martha asks this, he mentions Rose then says "not that you're replacing her" which seems more a comment to himself than Martha despite it's direction, and Martha smoothly responds that was not her intention "I never said I was" because of course isn't, this is literally the first time she has heard of Rose. Then he snaps that it's only one trip. This only happens because Martha is too observant. And because she is observant, she says exactly what the audience is thinking, or at least, immediately states how this entire episode looked. Imagine watching Smith and Jones as your very first Doctor Who episode. Removing the 'genetic transfer'. Strange man winks and grins at woman he has never met, sizes her up in terms of intelligence and picks her as his 'companion' to investigate the strange occurance of the Royal Hope being transported to the moon. Looks her up and down some more as they stand outside looking at the moon. Suprise! He's an alien! Runs from danger holding hands with this woman he has only just met, (holding hands is definitely a RTD era thing and not exclusive to Martha, but it's not exactly something you just do with a stranger). Skip forward to later in the episode, follows woman to her brother's birthday party, suggestive smile to follow him, then proceeds to go out of his way to impress woman with spaceship that can travel in time.

Even without the kiss, the entire thing is very flirtatious and Martha addresses this in the Tardis. I've seen people say she was being 'too suggestive' and 'sexualising' the Doctor which I think is such a disenegous take, because her comments on his appearance are very clearly an in universe way of commenting on the direction the show had now taken. David Tennant himself had become something of a sex symbol in the UK because of his role in the show, as one of the more 'attractive' actors to take up the role, and the show fed into this too. One of his biggest roles prior to the show was as one of the most famous womanizers in history, Giacamo Casanova. David and Russell T Davies have commented on how some of Casanova's 'isms were used in Doctor Who, and it was through Casanova that David got the role in the first place. They had a whole episode to have a big kiss moment between 'Rose' and the Doctor to play into this more romantic and provacative image. 'The Girl In The Fireplace' is a more blatant example. And all of this runs off the back of 'The Doctor Dances' euphemism. And the Doctor's appearance had changed for Series 3 too. He had his famous brown suit, long coat, converse. But now, he was a in a new tight blue suit. It's very insincere to act like Martha's comments were uncalled for, it was clearly the writers way of addressing his new look and what kind of Doctor the tenth incarnation was. The Doctor fervently denies leading her on of course, almost like a parent scolds a child, and it's kind of laughable that the Doctor denies being aware of how he comes across to others. 'Vanity issues'. This is of course the same Doctor that only looks this way because he wanted to be a younger looking version for Rose. I've seen people say this is a more forward-thinking way of making a male/female relationship as it's mainly the woman who in stories changes for the man, but I don't think this makes that trope any less problematic and Rose ends up assimilating into Doctor so much that even Jackie notices it so she still changes for a man.

Besides, we all know that if we rewind to the moment Martha sees him around the corner, following him, then seeig him leaning against the Tardis, we can see he knew exactly what he was doing. The whole thing looked very 'inviting' let's say. It's annoying though, that in his denial he appears to make Martha feel bad for thinking any of this when that's exactly how it came across. Even when he explains the kiss was just a 'genetic transfer' and had said it meant nothing, it begs the question - why didn't he just kiss her hand or something? It would have been better if he had just licked her face, it would have been funny and worked as a great companion piece to 'barefoot on the moon'. He saw an opportunity and he took it. It's funny, because the Doctor contradicts himself a lot in this season, and the kiss is a perfect example of what the dynamic he would eventually have with Martha would be like - say one thing, then do the complete opposite afterwards.

Of course, all of this is excused from fans because he's acting this way because he's still upset about Rose. Falling for someone nee didn't occur to him as a possibility, we see this in The Family of Blood. I saw a take (think I tumblrd about it too) about how Martha should have realised the Doctor was hurting when he mentioned her, and I need you guys to actually stop and think. Saying that it was 'obvious' that he was in pain when talking about Rose is so untruthful. He just sounded like he was dumped by an ex and is bitter about it. I saw someone say that even Donna knew not to push it so Martha should have. But Donna met him seconds after Bad Wolf Bay and didn't question him more about Rose because the pain there was palpable and besides, she was rightfully more concerned about herself and didn't start being all nice to him because she realised he might be in 'pain'. And Martha didn't push him on Rose, she pressed him on himself and the way he had acted. Not Rose. But you lot are very unfair and blatantly misconstrue things as a way to dislike her so you can wallow in your grief over the previous companion. I just need you to recognise that it's unfair. And the Doctor's behaviour in subsequent episodes don't make it any better. What did he say in Gridlock? That he was showing off? Mhhm.

I was tagged by @alienfuckeronmain for my ten fave ships, and boy howdy, it’s a tough one, given what I’ve read over the years!! I’ll leave RPF-related fic pairings out of this because I don’t need the indirecting, you cowards, but if we’re talking fictional pairing, let’s go!

1. Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuraykin, Man from UNCLE. My forever OTP, always in my heart, etc., don’t care if it’s a movie, a TV show, a book, a fic, a graphic novel, they’re the archetype of my fave personality combo (grumpy stoic meets charismatic charmer cum quasi-himb, enemies to friends to pining to lovers), and I cherish them always.

2. Finn/Poe Dameron, Star Wars. This is a tough one because I feel like the pairing morphed in the last few years into something I don’t love (please no Reylo on the side, please no racial fetishizing), but I always have a soft spot for my original viewing in late 2015, all the fic that came in 2016, and all the interviews that followed.

3. Wei Wuxian/Lan Wangji, The Untamed. ARCHETYPE FAVES, wow, talk about nailing the grump/charmer combo, and yes, yes, I’m only on the first third of this show, but I’m savoring it, and I’ve already read one fic I love, and I know I’m gonna DIE when I fully immerse myself, but goddd, this show, this pairing!!!

4. Fox Mulder/Dana Scully, The X Files. Shockingly enough, this pairing matches the style of my other faves, wow! These two have been an obsession from way back, but I’ve also read pretty much every other pairing they could match with on the show, I’m that into their respective strengths as characters.

5. Lightning McQueen/Doc Hudson, Cars. Yet again, ~evidence of my preferred type of dynamic, but honest to god, every fic Phoenix has written here really nails them in this beautifully specific way that I wish everyone would read and marvel at instead of [bitchy comment redacted].

6. Columbo/his unnamed husband, Columbo. This one’s a stretch only because I haven’t dived deep into ao3 yet, only tumblr (or rather, columblr), and my mind is blown by the head canon that all those times Columbo mentioned his wife (and we never saw her), he actually was talking about his husband, but yeah, as a character? He’s one of my faves, and i want to see him get some, don’t care how or who.

7. (tie) Han Solo/Luke Skywalker, Kirk/Spock, Star Wars and Star Trek, respectively. I’m just putting these together because I’m more of a casual fan on the fringes of these two ginormous fandoms, but I absolutely do read and love this pairings (usually current authors, but I’ve also peeped into--and loved--older works, they’re a comfy pair of slippers, the both of ‘em).

8. Every single pairing in Harry Potter. Look, I’m not proud of it, but in the pre-ao3 era, you had to subscribe to/enter all these specific fansites to read HP fic, and I absorbed it all, I literally couldn’t wait between books, so give me your drarry, your linny, your what-EVER, I probably read it, and jkr burned that entire world and fandom to the ground for me, but yeah, will read anything that pisses this author off forever more!

9. 10th Doctor/Rose and 10th Doctor/Jack, Doctor Who. Another one you had to creep into specific servers to find “back in the day,” but I was really into the whole David Tennant/Billie Piper situation (and let’s face it, David Tennant/John Barrrowman, too), which also played into the show fic, so this dips into my RPF ban from the intro, but still, there’s truly great fic in this fandom, all pairings. 

10. I’m gonna cheat and leave this last one as a catch all because there are so many fics and fandoms that I’ll read and love only one fic in, and that’s valid, I only have two eyes. But maybe this is a future Joe/Nicky Old Guard zone, once I finally finish it beyond gifs (or a Witcher zone after I read the books). Or maybe once Phoenix sends me the Jake of State Farm Insurance fic--it can happen!!!  (Oddly related, Star Trek: The Next Generation, god, I can’t even type up all the one-off pairings I’ve read/loved there.)

tl/dr, I’m so grateful to ao3 for making it a billion times easier to follow an author or pairing, to search tags, to find anything in ANY fandom, RPF or not, just because you saw a movie and thought, heyyyyy, what if?? 3. are there any fandoms you joined without meaning to?

Probably Teninch (crossovers with Billie Piper and David Tennant characters). I liked their individual shows, but it hit me totally unexpectedly how much I love their characters together because I would not have pictured them together until I read fic for them. 

5. do you have a fandom you wish you interacted with more?

All of them! More interaction please! :D 

I do wish there was more fic for my Supergirl ship (Karamel) and more interaction and community around my other ships. I was very spoiled by the Doctor x Rose fandom still being active and devoted years after canon was done, and it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me why other former canon ships don’t have a bigger community beyond gif makers and fic posts, but I know several of them had some bad ship wars, so I’ve stayed out of it to avoid the drama. And Tumblr itself changed and is more quiet than I wish it was, so it may also just be the times. *insert back in the good ol’ days rant here lol 

12.  out of all your fandoms, which premise (plot/worldbuilding) is your favorite?

I like that Doctor Who is big enough to encompass all of them. I do love magic and superpowers, so Harry Potter and Marvel have something special in them with that, but canon for DW is unlimited, so it could easily include those things given the right sci-fi science and the right alien planet or anything. And telepathy is already canon. So I think that’s the nice thing about DW fic, any AU can work, and any post-canon or whatever could work, because anything is possible with a big enough multiverse and a bit of made-up explanation.

Multifandom ask meme

Jodie Whittaker's debut as everyone's favourite Time Lord last month in Doctor Who proved to be a huge hit with old and new audiences alike.

Her opening salvo in the long-running BBC sci-fi show even beat-off successors such as Peter Capaldi and Matt Smith and, unsurprisingly, drew in a much bigger female audience.

Over the episodes since, viewers have been returning in their millions each week to watch and praise Whittaker and her TARDIS team of Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole whilst they travelled to an alien planet, met Rosa Parks and encountered some nasty spiders in the UK.

But some quarters – and, indeed, some media outlets – have been sniping, claiming that Doctor Who is haemorrhaging fans in the millions.

Recently, tabloids (who couldn't possibly have any kind of agenda) have said Doctor Who is "exterminating" fans due to the show's "PC plots".

Now, we won't address the five or six people on Twitter who don't like their favourite science-fiction show changing the gender of the lead character and addressing racism and colonialism right now (they obviously have their own issues to deal with), but let's have a look at those "plunging" viewing figures.

Series 11 viewing figures

Now, it is a fact to say that series 11 has seen a drop.

Jodie's debut, 'The Woman Who Fell To Earth', attracted a consolidated total of 10.53 million on television (achieving a total of 10.95m if you include laptops, smartphones, etc).

As a side note, in an era of otherwise diminishing viewing figures, it turned out to be the biggest launch ever.

However, come ep five, the catchily-titled 'The Tsuranga Conundrum', we find there's now 7.76m watching on television (consolidated). As you can see, this means that just under 3 million viewers have stopped keeping up to date with the adventures of the Gallifreyan (for the moment, at least).

But let's give this some context.

A very similar thing – if not exactly the same – happened with Christopher Eccleston's Ninth Doctor in 2005: he kicked off with 10.91 million but saw viewership drop by 4 million during his run with Billie Piper's Rose.

And it's the same story for Jodie's other predecessors: both Tennant's first and third series saw dips of around 3 million during their airings; over 3.5 million fell away for Matt Smith's 2010 episodes (his opening year in the TARDIS); and Peter Capaldi witnessed a 2.5 million drop in his freshman year.

As you can see, season dips are not new. In fact, they're overwhelmingly commonplace for Doctor Who and always expected. More like olds than news, amirite?

Now, let's compare the viewing figures from series to series.

The most successful season was in 2008 with the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble, hitting an average of 8.05m, while the "worst" was Peter Capaldi's final run in 2017, with 5.45m.

Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor has amassed a very impressive average of 8.55m so far (these figures come from the first half of series 11) – which means that this year is on target to be the biggest since Who's return in 2005.

Only a considerable drop in viewing figures for the rest of the run will change this. And, given that we've got a season finale to contend with, this doesn't seem too likely.

Chart Placings

Analysing these figures can be a little misleading (as viewing habits have changed greatly since 2005), so let's have a look at chart placings.

How does Doctor Who compare with other shows on telly on a weekly basis?

When Whittaker burst on to our screens last month, Doctor Who topped the TV Top 10, besting Strictly, Bake Off, and much more besides. A huge feat.

Even more so given that Who has rarely hit the No.1 slot.

The last time it happened was in 2013, with the epic 50th anniversary special 'The Day of the Doctor', penned by former showrunner Steven Moffat, while David Tennant managed to be the most-watched on just three occasions during his tenure.

Jodie has continued to hover in the upper half, with the next three eps hitting number four (though two of the entries above are both Strictly) and the fifth dropping slightly to sixth place – resulting in the fact that Doctor Who has now remained in the weekly TV Top 10 for five weeks (with a six surely to be confirmed).

This is an even rarer feat.

Only series four, starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate, managed to get five eps in a row during the same series in the Top 10. Capaldi's era didn't trouble the top, for the most part, with his most recent series averaging outside the Top 20.

Matt Smith's first season had an average placement of 12 whilst Tennant's opening batch was 13 and Eccleston's averaged 17.

So, as you can see, Jodie is hitting highs rarely achieved by the show.

And finally...

Last night's episode, 'Demons of the Punjab', did see another drop in the overnights, coming in at 5.8m – resulting in a drop-off of almost 2.5m since the series opener.

The story itself, though, was a hit with viewers.

But what we should bear in mind is the fact that the only programme on all television channels last night watched by more people that Doctor Who was the Strictly results show. Not even David Attenborough's new outing Dynasties or The X Factor could best Jodie Whittaker and her TARDIS gang.

So, is there need for concern from Whovians?

Ostensibly, no. Yes, there's been a drop but this is not a shock in any way; especially as the series 11 launch was so gargantuan. Doctor Who is in better shape with the regular TV audience than it has been in a great many years.

And, as demonstrated above, Chris Chibnall's first year as showrunner could turn out to be the biggest ever.

So, next time you see a tabloid slam your favourite show, there's probably a reason for it – and it won't be the facts.

as a general rule, probably yes. they almost certainly have to be part of the same canon for me to ship them.

the characters are well rounded people independent of each other.

Idk ,generally a mix of things, but mostly if the characters don’t even seem to like each other that much (caveat: unless disliking each other is PART of the relationship being explored)

Richardbroke. hadn’t considered it before but man is that a fun trainwreck to play with.

No, because why would I want to spend energy being argumentative and potentially horrible to people over something that does not effect me in the slightest.

Ross/Rachel. I’m sure there are others but that’s the first thing that springs to mind. 

17. Are there any popular ships that you just don’t like? What are they?

Rose/Ten. For a start, I actually see Ten as asexual and a LOT of Rose/Ten shipping seems to involve smut. For another, I just. don’t find it that compelling - I think Ten & Martha and Ten & Donna actually have a lot more complex and interesting relationships (now, Nine/Rose, otoh...) Also, large parts of the fanbase for that ship just...grate me the wrong way, and I object to random David Tennant characters being shipped with random Billie Piper characters, especially for fandoms where there is limited fic anyway *cough* Broadchurch *cough*.

Merlin/Arthur is the other thing. I just...don’t see why an intense relationship HAS to be made romantic and/or sexual  in nature, and also it’s Gwen erasure.

i registered on tumblr quite some time ago in order to have fun and interact with other fans. hopefully i’ll have pleasant time here (probably should confess that sometimes i regret finding tumblr because as much as i like it, people here seriously need to obtain common sense firstly and secondly they should google what decency and toxicity are).

Also seemed to be omnipresent due to being poisoned in one verse yet perfectly alive in another</strike>, The Vigilante <strike>where her entire life changes and is unable to rengenerate properly, being permanently stuck with the face of Rose Tyler/Billie Piper with the Wolf running through her veins. She also can interact with V and is probably the most forward when it comes to meeting those that V has met. This also sprouts a new blog altogether, a reset with that face. Also seems to use the Wolf as more of an extension of herself than a parasite. Even more that she has the memories of current!V so, she can learn from her possible future self mistakes.</strike>, and V with only reminants of the Wolf within her <strike>being that muses who has the Bad Wolf within them can sense her having the ability but, that triggers it to dormant and useless at best. Only being used as a means to connect with one another.</strike>.   <p>Bad Wolf Incarnate, this verse only, is probably the first verse where she is a villain of V herself and is the first separate character altogether of V: Second being the Vigilante. This is also a verse where those who dislike or loathe or hate V can get along with her, but she will name herself Einzelgänger when confronting those who plot against V. In her own verse, her recent verse, she is with an entity name Xeik and together they adopted two redheaded twins: a boy and a girl. They both love to paint the universe red and gold without a care in the world and is the only verse where she is truly happy.</p>

Rita Stone lives in our world. The world where a big blue box bigger on the inside is simply impossible. However, this all changes after what is most definitely an impossible event. Then again nothing is impossible with the Doctor.

Follow Rita through time and space, learning about herself while struggling to comprehend her new life travelling with the Doctor and his companions. Doctor x OC

"Is she going to be alright?" Rita heard the whisper of a female voice that she definitely recognised from somewhere as she slowly opened her eyes and the sudden pain in her head began as if someone was playing a thousand drum beats into her ears. She opened her eyes to see a girl who didn't look much older than her peering over her body.

"Doctor she's awake!" Rita heard the faint voice of the girl not thinking much of it as her eyes adjusted to the light and her surroundings.

Rita attempted to sit up before being gently forced back down to the ground while she reached for her head and sighed as she suddenly noticed that she was no longer in the kitchen of her apartment or anywhere she actually recognised, the room she was currently in had a brown almost golden metal wall which for some reason slightly freaked her out.

"Hello?" The blonde girl asked as Rita stared at her very confused and shook her head not able to believe that Billie fricking Piper stood before her.

"Hello?" She repeated frowning a little as Rita ignored her continuing to look around the room before noticing David Tennant who was apparently dressed in the usual tenth Doctor's pinstripe suit walking over to her with the same expression on his face as Billie's.

"It's ok" he spoke calmly "we found you lying here unconscious, I'm the Doctor and this is Rose"

Rita blinked for a few seconds before she started to laugh quietly causing 'the Doctor' to turn to 'Rose' as they both shared a concerned look with each other.

"I'm dreaming aren't I?" Rita looked up at them both before laughing again. "Someone pinch me please" she spoke between fits of laughter. Rose frowned a little before doing exactly that and pinched the girl causing a small yelp and the fits of laughter to cut out.

"I'm still asleep?" Rita cocked her head to the right and looked at 'the Doctor' "how?" she asked slightly frowning.

"This isn't a dream?" He also frowned confused at what the girl meant. Rita scratched the side of her head while keeping herself leaning upright with her right arm. "I have to be dreaming, though?" she questioned like she wasn't believing it was actually a dream herself. "I was changing the light bulb at home when- the light bulb!" Rita jumped up causing her dark brown hair to fly upwards then back down and rest itself against her shoulders showing the girls true medium length hair.

"I was in my apartment" Rita held her head which was slightly thumping due to he sudden outburst, her hazel eyes widened shifting from 'Rose' and 'the Doctor' "Where am I? How on Earth.." her voice trailed off as she spun around to see a giant window. Rita slowly walked towards the glass in a trance, 'the Doctor' and 'Rose' slowly walking cautiously behind her. "That's the Earth" she choked up a little before turning back to 'the Doctor' "Where am I" Rita spoke in a shaky cold voice. "Who are you," she asked before the man had time to answer her first question.

"My name is the Doctor" he calmly said slowly walking towards her, we're on a spaceship-"

"Alien spaceship?" Rita asked turning to 'Rose' watching the girl who was a little too quiet for her liking yet Rita also trusted her a little more than 'the Doctor' for some reason.

"Yes" 'Rose' nodded slowly before adding "He's telling the truth, his name is the Doctor, I'm Rose"

"But how?" Rita asked staring at the two as if they were both ghosts, unreal to her like a dream.

"How?" 'Rose' questioned, "what do you mean how?"

"Never mind" Rita mumbled. "I guess I should play along since this is all a dream, weird how I haven't woken up yet." She thought while sighing.

"Sorry" she smiled pushing the questions digging at her brain to the back of her mind. "Where are my manners?" Rita smiled cheerfully like the past few moments never existed "I'm Rita Stone"

Rose frowned at Rita but then deeply sighed and smiled warmly. "Nice to meet you, Rita, that's the Doctor" she pointed at the man in the pinstripe suit who was currently not paying attention as he walked around the room closely looking at every crack and cranny in the room like he was looking for a way out. "Doctor?" Rose chuckled a little getting his attention. the Doctor turned towards Rose and Rita and smiled at them both, walking over and standing beside Rose. "This is Rita Stone," Rose told the Doctor while he nodded.

"Lovely to meet you Rita, now do you happen to know how you got here?" He raised a brow and then added: "I heard you said something about being in your apartment and then suddenly being here, remember anything in between then and now?"

Rita thought for a moment before shaking her head. "Nope" she sighed and looked down at the black jeans she was wearing and the comfy red vans (not that she was complaining). She raised a brow and looked up "Did someone change my clothes?" she asked the Doctor and Rose raising a brow themselves and then sighing when they both shook their heads.

"We found you in those clothes, well I found you" Rose grinned "the Doctor was too busy trying to get out of this room, we got locked in" she sighed. "He didn't even notice you"

"Locked in?" Rita clearly was confused with what was going on, so many questions yet no answers. "How did you get locked in here?" she looked at the Doctor who was already at one of the walls of the room carefully observing them like they were going to attack at any moment.

"We were running" he spoke in a calm quiet voice not looking away from the wall.

"From what?" Rita questioned.

"The question is" the Doctor ignored her, turning around and walked towards Rita and then past her and picked up a long brown coat off the floor and then reached into one of its pockets and picked out some black glasses and then placed them on his nose while walking back over to Rita and Rose. "Who are you?" he leant closer to Rita, the girl frowned and slowly backed away.

"I'm Rita" she continued to frown at him.

"I know that." he continued to look at her squinting his eyes. "I meant what are you?" He corrected himself and raised a brow as if it was a simple question.

"Human?" Rita replied still backing away from him. The frowning expressing on her face had turned into one very confused as if she didn't actually know what she was anymore.

"That sounded more like you were unsure" the Doctor announced and took his glasses off and placed them into the long brown coat that he was now wearing.

"You would be unsure if you were changing a light bulb and then randomly woke up on an alien ship," Rita said.

"Why are they not looking for us, Doctor?" Rose turned to the Doctor looking a little scared while he returned to the walls of the room not questioning Rita anymore.

"I don't know Rose" the Doctor sighed.

"What's looking for you?" She questioned before correcting herself. "Or should be?" She turned to Rose who followed the Doctor over to a wall of the room.

"Rita, have you ever heard of the Daleks?" He turned to her and then pressed his ear up against the wall.

"The Daleks?" Rita's voice slightly cracked as she couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Yeah" she muttered. "I know what they are" Rita looked down at the ground remembering scenes from the TV show she was now apparently a part of it even was a TV show anymore. She heard the screams of 'exterminate' and saw a scene from the 50th-anniversary episode. Gallifrey was burning, children crying as the Daleks screamed with no emotion or regret in their voices just anger and hatred as they showed no mercy firing and murdering innocent men, women and children.

The Doctor heard the worry in Rita's voice and slowly walked away from the wall towards her, he placed a hand on one of her shoulders. "I'm sorry Rita" he spoke "Whatever they did I'm so sorry" he looked into her hazel eyes which were fixed on the floor. Pity and sorrow were all he could see as she remembered the horrific scenes. TV or not this all looked very very real to Rita Stone.

"They didn't do anything to me." She sighed and finally looked up at him straight into his brown eyes, hers now filled with anger which he fully knew was not meant for him. "What they did to others is what I am angry about" Rita pursed her lips while her eyes burned up at the Doctor

"So this isn't a dream then?" he grinned lighting the mood a little.

"I guess I have no proof that I'm dreaming since Rose did pinch me and nothing happened" Rita shrugged looking over to the blonde who smiled. "I also guess this is a Dalek ship then" Rita looked up at the Doctor guessing and pursed her lips again.

"Yeah, they almost took the TARDIS, we only just managed to escape ourselves"

"Emergency Programme One," Rita mumbled.

"How do you know that?" The Doctor raised an eyebrow.

"Oh um." Rita mumbled and shrugged "I know some things about you both." She pointed at the Doctor and Rose. "You probably don't believe me though" She mumbled again.

The Doctor frowned and looked at Rita, trying to figure out what she meant by that comment until turning his head to the left and hearing a loud bang on the door making him push the question to the back of his mind and talk to Rita alone about it later.

"Doctor?" Rose asked. "What was that?"

"I don't know" he answered. "Let's not stay to find out" he ran to the opposite side of the room where the black metal doors were and started to sonic the door. "Deadlocked" he groaned.

"Why have a sonic if it doesn't do wood or deadlocked stuff?" Rose asked keeping her eyes on the door. Rita grinned at the blonde's comment.

The Doctor ignored her and continued to try and open the door while Rita stared at the door on the opposite side of the room frowning. There was another bang causing Rose to jump in fright. Rita slowly began to walk over to the door like she was in a trance.

"Rita?" Rose spoke, getting no reply. She continued to slowly walk to the door before seeing a keypad on the left-hand side next to the door.

"Doctor?" Rose spoke trying to get him to notice Rita slowly making her way to the door. Rose looked over to the Doctor for a second seeing him still fixated on opening the damn door before then switching her gaze back over to the brunette.

"Doctor" Rose repeated this time getting his attention.

"Rose wh- Rita!" He shouted noticing how close the brunette now was to the door he ran over and pulled her away by her arm taking her out of the trance she was in. "You ok?" He looked down at her seriously.

"Yeah" she muttered edging away from the door and then slightly jumping when it made another loud bang.

"Come on then" he grabbed her arm and ran over to where Rose was standing by the door taking out his sonic and finally opening the door which was lucky as a moment later the door on the opposite side of the room opened showing a Dalek on the other side.

"Exterminate!" It screamed shooting right behind Rita which luckily missed thanks to the Doctor suddenly pulling her towards him. The Doctor then ran ahead of the two girls then locked the door after they ran through after him "Stay away from that door!" He swiftly turned around and pointed and then turned back around running away from the girls who moved away from the door panting from the running.

"Didn't expect it to be like this" Rita mumbled looking at the ground.

"Expect?" Rose questioned.

"Secrets" Rita mumbled not sure of what else to say and then frowned. "That sounds like something I know someone else said once," the brunette thought out loud.

"You're mad" Rose laughed.

"And he's not?" Rita joked, raising her eyebrows and looked over to where the Doctor was flashing his screwdriver at the door on the other side of the long hall.

"You have a point" Rose grinned before a frown began to form. "Who are you, Rita?"

"Apart from my name I don't know anymore." she shrugged.

"No family?" She raised a brow. "Friends? Where did you live?" Rose questioned.

"My family died" Rita spoke with no emotion. "Never properly knew my mum and dad, never knew if I had any aunts or uncles, not even a Gran. I have no family, just me"

"You're all alone" Rose mumbled.

"I know how you feel" the girls looked up to see the Doctor standing there with his hands in the pockets of his long brown coat.

Rita continued not replying to the Doctor, she knew what he had been, though, what he will go through and there was nothing she could do. "I have some friends" Rita smiled sadly at Rose before saying: "They all have family's and other friends, though, sure they are there for me but no in the long run" Rita looked at Rose and saw the sadness in her eyes, Rita saw this look before from Rose somewhere.

"I'm sorry Rita, I shouldn't have asked" the blonde looked at the floor ashamed, Rita just gave a sad smile before looking up at the Doctor who gave her the exact same look Rose did moments before: sadness.

"Come on you two we best get out of here" the Doctor became his usual cheery self and smiled at the girls who both nodded at him.

"So what's the plan?" Rose asked as all walked down the hall in a line heading for the door.

"He doesn't have one" Rita chuckled.

"I do have a plan" the Doctor scoffed and rolled his eyes at Rita.

"What is it then?" Rita raised her eyebrows waiting.

"Ok I don't have have a plan" the Doctor rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "But I do have an idea" he grinned at them both before opening the door which he soniced earlier during Rose and Rita's chat.

"Doctor!" Rose screamed noticing a Dalek only meters away.

"Oh hello," he grinned at the Dalek and then turned to the girls "run!" He shouted grabbing both of their hands and pulling them.

"Exterminate! Exterminate!" It screamed a moment after the Doctor pulled Rita and Rose behind a wall.

"What now?" Rose whispered in fear frantically looking around.

"Doctor" Rita mumbled staring at what couldn't possibly be the TARDIS

"What-" he turned to see the TARDIS and then grinned at Rita who then smiled back the Doctor took Rita and Rose's hands again and ran towards the TARDIS.

"What about the Daleks?" Rose asked while sprinting for the blue box.

"They pulled the TARDIS here, don't know why don't really want to know why since they insisted on killing us" he spoke before skidding to a stop and opening the TARDIS. The Doctor allowed Rose in first and then held the door open for Rita as well.

Upon entering the TARDIS it was everything Rita had dreamed of and hoped for when watching the show, much bigger than expected on the inside and definitely cooler.

After allowing Rita to looked around and let it sink in the Doctor then spoke, "Welcome to-"

"The TARDIS" Rita beamed making the Doctor blink a few times slightly confused as to how she knew the TARDIS' name.

"How do you-" The Doctor was then cut off

"I told you, I know parts of your life" Rita smiled slightly at the Doctor and then Rose who was leaning on the console. "Where I'm from" Rita started. "There is this show, very good show" she nodded to herself while the Doctor crossed his arms and leant on one of the beams closely listening to Rita "It's about your life" she pointed to the Doctor "Rose you're there too" she then pointed to the blonde

"Doctor?" Rose frowned "What does Rita mean"

"But that's impossible" he mumbled. "A show about my life" his eyes then widened in horror. Rita then chuckled and rolled her eyes.

"It's the truth, I don't know how I got here, I remember nothing except being in my apartment changing the light bulb and then being in a Dalek ship" the girl sighed. "It's not even an episode" she mumbled.

"Maybe you forgot" Rose raised a brow and walked over to Rita.

"No that's impossible" Rita frowned "I know every episode of this Doctor, everyone" Rita smiled proudly. The Doctor looked at Rita with confusion and wonder. Who are you Rita Stone? He thought to himself before moving from the beam to the console. Rose could tell that the Doctor was very confused about Rita almost as much as Rose was herself, the brunette seemed friendly but they had only just met her on a Dalek ship.

The Doctor then started to fiddle with the console. The TARDIS then started to dematerialise.

"Doctor I'm going to go to my room" Rose announced and then walked off towards a hall in the TARDIS. The Doctor could see what she was doing and nodded to her as she left the Doctor and Rita alone. Questions on both sides could now be answered.
