Album Review: Foxhall Stacks - The Coming Collapse
Album Review: Foxhall Stacks – The Coming Collapse
Words: Nate Holdren
The members of Foxhall Stacks – Bill Barbot, Brian Baker, Peter Moffett, and Jim Spellman – have been in some major punk, hardcore and post-hardcore bands, including Minor Threat, The Meatmen, Bad Religion, Jawbox, and Burning Airlines. These bands were often confrontational and harsh. They broke some genre conventions, and wrote a few new ones.
Foxhall Stacks are not going…

I really can’t recommend this album enough. I’ve been listening to be at home, at work, at the gym.
Foxhall Stacks is led by Bill Barbot from Jawbox, but it’s also got veterans from Velocity Girl, Minor Threat, Bad Religion, Government Issue.
It’s 80s punk with 70s power pop, which basically means 90s alternative. And it’s fucking fantastic.

Pride and Prejudice AU
I’m not going to write it, but my brain would not shut up at me about this last night.
Tikki as Lizzy, and Plagg as Mr. Darcy. The dynamic of the two of them. GAH! Gold.
I totally see Adrien as Bingley and then Jane would be Marinette. That romance would be so sweet and Tikki would 1000% avenge Marinette if Plagg pulled Adrien and Marinette apart.
Then I would put Chloe as Adrien’s sister because she’d fit that character perfectly. (I guess in the book Adrien has two sisters, so let’s just say Queen Bee could be the second one.)
Then let’s go with the Bennetts. Juleka could be Mary, then the two dorky/squeally younger ones, so let’s say Rose and Sabrina. They seem to fit the bill.
Master Fu would be the father, and I have NO idea who would be the crazy mom.
Mr. Wickim: Theo Barbot. Think about it, he’s in love with Ladybug and tried to pretend he was the better Chat Noir. He’s literally perfect.
Finally, the last ones I have pegged is Nathalie as Lady Catherine and Duusu as her sick her daughter Anne.
Then it wouldn’t quite fit, but goodness, Gabriel as Mr. Collins, AKA the dweeb that sucks up to Lady Catherine like no tomorrow.
That’s all. I’m not going to write it, I have too many other works on my plate, but I had to share so my brain could say “okay, I’m done.”

New Category for NYC Birth Certificates
The Health Department announced that as of Jan. 1, New Yorkers can change the gender on their birth certificate to “X” to reflect a non-binary gender identity.
Furthermore, transgender and gender non-binary New Yorkers will no longer need a letter from a physician or an affidavit signed by a licensed health care provider to change their gender on their birth certificate.
People born in New York City can submit a notarized affidavit that attests the gender marker change is to affirm their gender identity (a sample affidavit is available online).
Although sex assigned at birth is required on birth certificates, the Health Department recognizes that some people’s assigned sex may not be consistent with their gender identity. The Department already allows New Yorkers to amend the gender on their birth certificate without surgery or a name change.
“Transgender and gender non-conforming New Yorkers deserve the right to choose how they identify and to live with respect and dignity,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “This bold new policy advances the fight for equality and makes our City fairer for all people.”
“For decades, New York City has been a place where people come to express their identity, but our institutions never afforded transgender and non-binary individuals control over their gender on government documents,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Oxiris Barbot. “By offering a non-binary option and a less burdensome way to change one’s gender on their birth certificate, the City is moving in the right direction towards full equality for New Yorkers who have historically been marginalized and ignored.”
